Abstract

Objective – Systematic searching is central to guideline development, yet guidelines in social care present a challenge to systematic searching because they exist within a highly complex policy and service environment. The objective of this study was to highlight challenges and inform practice on identifying social care research literature, drawing on experiences from guideline development in social care.

Methods – The researchers reflected on the approaches to searching for research evidence to inform three guidelines. They evaluated the utility of major to

Users searching for information in archival databases may rely only on themselves and on their experiences. They cannot rely on the help of archivist, as if they could if researching the traditional paper based finding aids. It is of course necessary to keep in mind that the search can be carried out only for data entered in the database. The first survey of users of archival information systems in Slovenia was presented in 2014. Summary Background: Clinical coding systems have been developed to translate real-world healthcare information such as prescriptions, diagnoses and procedures into standardized codes appropriate for use in large healthcare datasets. Due to the lack of information on coding system characteristics and insufficient uniformity in coding practices, there is a growing need for better understanding of coding systems and their use in pharmacoepidemiology and observational real world data research. Objectives: To determine: 1) the number of available coding systems and their characteristics, 2) which p

This project aims to assess the utility of bibliographic databases beyond the three major ones (MEDLINE, EMBASE and Cochrane CENTRAL) for finding controlled trials of complementary and alternative medicine (CAM). Fifteen databases were searched to identify controlled clinical trials (CCTs) of CAM not also indexed in MEDLINE. Searches were conducted in May 2006 using the revised Cochrane highly sensitive search strategy (HSSS) and the PubMed CAM Subset. Yield of CAM trials per 100 records was determined, and databases were compared over a standardized period (2005). The Acudoc2 RCT, Acubriefs,

IntroductionThe National Institute for Health and Care Excellence (NICE) guidelines manual recommend that MEDLINE, Embase and Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials should be prioritized for searching for reviews of the effectiveness of pharmacological interventions. Additionally, searching trial registries and conference abstracts are recommended to identify ongoing or unpublished research. However, the approaches to searching conference abstracts have not been previously studied. The aim is to analyze searches of conference abstracts reported in NICE Technology Appraisal (TA) company

BACKGROUND: Ectopic pregnancy (EP) is the implantation of an embryo outside the eutopic cavity with the most location of EP is in the fallopian tube (FT), known as tubal EP (TEP). The FT of TEP expresses higher levels of pro-inflammatory cytokines such as interleukin-1 (IL-1), IL-6, and IL-8. AIM: The study aimed to look systematically into the current literature and carefully analyze the results to explore the role of IL in EP. Over 5,000 sources are covered in the database, and about 1,750 of those provide some sort of full text. After some searching, it was found that about 25 to 30% of the articles indexed in the database are full text, and there are over 2.6 million full text articles. Thus, about 8+ million articles are indexed in the resource. Article records go back to the 1909. Many students and librarians are familiar with the EBSC
