Abstract:
Electrical Impedance Tomography (EIT) is a medical imaging technique in which images of tissue conductivity within a body can be inferred from surface electrode measurements. The main goal of this study is to develop a portable EIT system incorporating an optimized electrode layout to detect intracranial haematomas for use in emergency care. A growing haematoma can cause severe and even permanent damage to the delicate tissue of the brain, morbidity, and eventual death of the patient. Background Demand for emergency department (ED) care is escalating. One response to this is to promote alternatives to ED for targeted patient groups. Older people living in residential aged care facilities (RACF) may be one group for which alternatives are justified and many services, usually “outreach” programs to provide acute care within RACF, are in place. However, little analysis has been done to determine how these alternatives should ideally be configured to maximise their “market share”. These findings reveal the need for empowerment and professional autonomy of RACF nurses to ensure active participation and engagement during decision-making. The insights about RACF nur

The problem that comes with it is the chronic diseases and physical deterioration that often occur in the elderly. In addition, the trend of fewer children has led to an increase in the demand for elderly care. Therefore, the Taiwan government has proposed long-term care services act to solve this problem. Residential long-term care institutions provide important institutional care services for Long-Term Care Services Act. However, maintaining institutional operations requires a lot of manpower c

This research explores the narratives told by five young adults aged 18 to 25 about their journeys of transitioning out of a large residential treatment facility into less structured settings, in Calgary, Alberta. Participants engaged in in-depth interviews designed to elicit storytelling regarding their time in care. Interviews were transcribed and analyzed using a narrative lens, paying particular attention to the way participants told their stories. Three main storylines emerged from participants’ narratives, including; standardized approaches in residential care, multiple interpretation

The theoretical literature suggests that interpersonal relationships, the social context, and the generation of stories are important in maintenance of self. Empirical research on self in dementia supports this but has been predominantly conducted with participants living in the community. Living in residential care brings additional threats to self. This paper presents a study examining the relevance of a socio-biographical theory of self to people with dementia living in residential care. Between 3 and 8

Due to our ageing population, emergency departments (ED) in acute care facilities are dealing with increased transfers of residents from Residential Aged Care Facilities (RACF). These patients are at risk of acts of provision of unwanted treatments, omission of care, and adverse outcomes including increased mortality directly associated with gaps in transfer information. For at least 30 years, research has attempted to address this frequency of information gaps, which in general are thought to be stemming from RACFs.
