Advanced driver assistance and automated driving systems must operate in complex environments and make safety-critical decisions. Resilient behavior of these systems in their targeted operation design domain is essential. In this paper, we describe developments in our Model-Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) approach to develop resilient safety-critical automated systems. An MBSE approach provides the ability to provide guarantees about system behavior and potentially reduces dependence on in-vehicle testing through the use of rigorous models and extensive simulation. Abstract. In today’s rapidly changing air traffic management (ATM) environment, safety culture and organizational resilience are seen as key enablers for effective safety management. Under normal conditions a positive safety culture is known to be reflected in proactive behavior and to serve as indirect indicator of organizational resilience. But how are safety culture development and resilient behavior affected by psychological stress? This study aims at relating safety culture to resilient behavior and psychological stress of 282 air traffic controllers, air traffic safety electronics person

Communication, problem-solving skills, emotional intelligence, and mental health and well-being are key characteristics of a resilient student. These skills are also needed to navigate increasingly complex life and work environments in the 21st century. In addition, resilient students are dedicated to learning, are focused on academic success, and are better equipped to adapt to change and the evolving workplace. This study validates a recently developed framework aimed at assessing the climate resiliency of road projects, recognizing the increasing impact of climate change on infrastructure, especially transportation networks such as roads. The framework provides a standardized and systematic approach for evaluating how well road projects can withstand and adapt to climate change impacts, including challenges like flooding, extreme temperatures, and rising sea levels. Conducting the research through a case study approach, we applied the framework to three specific road projects: Drabo Road, Chino Road

In a world facing unprecedented challenges, such as climate changes and growing social problems, the pharmaceutical industry must ensure that its supply chains are environmentally sustainable and resilient, guaranteeing access to key medications even when faced with unanticipated disruptions or crises. The core goal of this work is to develop an innovative simulation-based approach to support more informed and effective decision making, while establishing reasonable trade-offs between supply chain robustness and resiliency, operational efficiency, and environmental and social concerns. In the context of resilient cities, flood risk management and the optimization of flood control infrastructure hare key issues for urban sustainable development. Climate change and urbanization have increased the frequency and severity of floods, prompting governments and researchers to focus on flood risk assessment and management. This paper comprehensively analyzes the research status at home and abroad in the fields of resilient cities and flood control infrastructure, points out that the concept of resilient cities provides new ideas for flood risk management, and emphasizes that urban pl

Urbanization is a rapidly expanding global phenomenon, with projections indicating that 68% of the world’s population will reside in urban areas by 2050. While urbanization fosters economic growth and social development, it also presents significant challenges, including infrastructure strain, environmental degradation, and social inequality. Rapid urban expansion alters land use, leading to pollution, resource depletion, and increased vulnerability to climate-related hazards. As traditional spatial planning approaches struggle to address these complex and dynamic challenges, integrating socia

To understand how resilient adolescents adapt to adverse situations, this study examined resilient adolescents and their coping strategies. Resilience is the phenomenon characterized by good outcomes despite serious threats to adaptation and/or development. The current study aimed to identify the coping strategy profiles that distinguish a resilient group from three other groups—struggling, competent, and vulnerable—specifically to differentiate the resilient group from the competent group. Descriptive discriminant analysis results indicated that resilient adolescents simultaneously utilized n
