This paper aims to study a family of distances in networks associated with effective resistances. Specifically, we consider the effective resistance distance with respect to a positive parameter and a weight on the vertex set; that is, the effective resistance distance associated with an irreducible and symmetric M-matrix whose lowest eigenvalue is the parameter and the weight function is the associated eigenfunction. The main idea is to consider the network embedded in a host network with additional edges whose conductances are given in terms of the mentioned parameter. The novelty of these d

Graph invariants, based on the distances between the vertices of a graph, are widely used in theoretical chemistry. Recently, Gutman, Feng and Yu (Transactions on Combinatorics, 01 (2012) 27- 40) introduced the degree resistance distance of a graph G, which is defined as DR(G) = ?{u,v}?V(G)[dG(u)+dG(v)]RG(u,v), where dG(u) is the degree of vertex u of the graph G, and RG(u, v) denotes the resistance distance between the vertices u and v of the graph G. Further, they characterized n-vertex unicyclic graphs having minimum and second minimum degree resistance distance. In this paper, we character

The Conclusion considers the distance between Bonhoeffer’s politics and ours. Our own thinking about political resistance in the West tends to begin with the idea of inviolable human rights, the protection of which is a chief duty of the state. If the state allows those rights to be violated or violates them itself, individual citizens ought to resist, and the church should lend its moral authority. As this book has shown, Bonhoeffer’s vision of resistance differs from ours in several important ways. His political thinking privileges not rights but the state’s mandate for preservation. And for

Abstract In order to evaluate the effect of anode-cathode distance on anode resistance, experiments have been carried out with a scaled model of a cylindrical sacrificial anode mounted on brackets on a large flat cathode. A comparison was made with predictions made with the modified Dwight formula. For practical anode-cathode distances the resistance is significantly lower than this, and a new anode resistance formula is proposed which takes this effect into account. Abstract:
The plant virus family Polyviridae is the largest and most destructive of all plant viruses. Despite the continuous effort to develop resistant plant varieties, there is a desperate need for novel approaches conferring wide-range potyvirus resistance. Based on experiments with the tobacco etch potyvirus (TEV)-derived gene expression vector, we suggested approach for screening of the candidate resistance genes. This approach relies on insertion of the genes into a virus vector and evaluation of the phenotypes of the resulting recombinant viruses. The genes which suppress infection by the recomb

Many natural gas compressor stations which were previously located away from residential areas are now being encroached upon by surrounding building developments. Furthermore, an increased awareness of community noise issues has proved to be the impetus for investigating and developing more effective noise control methods and treatments for natural gas compressor facilities. This project investigates the feasibility of applying Active Noise Cancellation (ANC) to the exhaust of a large, internal-combustion reciprocating type engine. Large reciprocating internal combustion engines pose significa

Abstract: Scalable quantum networks, powered by entanglement-driven secure communication, are poised to revolutionize global information exchange, cybersecurity, and quantum computing infrastructures. Unlike classical communication systems, quantum networks leverage quantum entanglement and superposition to enable ultra-secure data transmission, quantum key distribution (QKD), and instantaneous information sharing across large-scale networks. This research explores the fundamental principles of entanglement-based communication, the role of quantum repeaters, quantum memory, and multi-nodal ent

Abstract:
The fire resistance limit value of box-type composite walls is one of the important parameters for applying this system. To this end, this article selects different refractory structural measures for the composite wall and analyzes the parameters in each part of the fire-resistant structure, including rock wool thickness, keel spacing, number of opening rows in the keel, gypsum board layers and thickness, etc. The results show that the thickness of rock wool, gypsum board layers and thickness, type of cladding plates and the number of layers, the axial compression ratio have significant influe

SHEAR BEHAVIOUR OF DEMOUNTABLE CONNECTIONS WITH BOLTS AND HEADED STUDS. The Hong Kong Institute of Steel Construction, 2023. http://dx.doi.org/10.18057/ijasc.2023.19.4.3.

Abstract:
Following the trend of sustainable development and structure reuse, many novel solutions related to demountable shear connectors for application in steel-concrete composite beams have been proposed in recent years. This paper provides a further contribution to the research field by proposing a demountable connection with bolts and welded headed studs. The transfer of shear force between a steel flange and a composite concrete slab cast in an open trough profiled steel sheeting is indirect, passing through a steel plate or angles. The proposed solution enables convenient dismantling and reuse o
