Abstract:
Additive manufacturing (AM) processes are candidates for manufacturing and repair in the aerospace industry. For process stability, control of melt pool dimensions is imperative. This can be achieved via feedback and/or feedforward control approaches; however, the time needed for a change in process variables (beam power and travel velocity) to translate into changes in melt pool dimensions is a critical concern. Prior works have determined the relationship between process variables and melt pool geometry, which can be monitored in situ for feedback control. In the current work, Ti-6Al-4V is s

Among these infections, one of the most difficult to be eradicated is coccidiosis, a major concern for poultry production in terms of reduced performance and high mortality. With costumers’ concern about the use of antibiotics in animal feeds, the ban of antibiotic growth promoters in the European Union, and the development of antibiotic – resistant coccidia, it is imperative to find alternatives for the control of this parasite. Probiotics have been shown to en

Among of these three applications, medicine industry has the harshest standard. As AM technique, through the secondary processes is a kind of disadvantage to it, it is still necessary to get the proper properties for the harsh standard of biomaterial. This study contains two parts. For the first study part, it is intended to let the as-fabricated SLM (selective laser melting) samples

There are two ways to increase the stability of emulsions. One is through surface modified particles, and the other is combining the solid particles with surfactant. Compared with the traditional emulsions, Pickering emulsions are more stable, in which the amount of surfactant is reduced. Therefore, Pickering emulsions tend to have low pollution for environment, and it has great potential for applications. The emulsions were prepared by adding

Experiments were conducted to evaluate the ability of prebiotic and probiotic supplementation of commercial fish feed to improve the physiological, immunological, and growth responses of stressed Nile tilapia. To investigate these objectives, tilapia were divided in two major groups: control fish (fed regular commercial feed) and stressed fish (induced by dietary cortisol supplemented to regular commercial feed). Stressed fish were further divided into three sub-groups: stressed fish fed regular feed, stressed fish fed probiotic-supplemented feed, and stressed fish fed a mixture of prebiotic a

And whether testing results can represent students’ true abilities is even more important. Currently, most computer diagnostic tests are composed of mainly multiple-choice questions. However, students may guess correct answers, influencing accuracy of tests. This study designed two test papers with the “score adding and subtracting” section. One test paper contains all multiple-choice questions and the other contains constructed-response questions. Also an automatic analysis mecha
