Abstract:
Abstract As designing offshore jacket platforms in seismically active regions, it is imperative to account for the seismic-induced loads on the structure. In this study, seismic structural analysis of an offshore jacket platform located in Bohai Bay, China is conducted using the response spectrum analysis (RSA) method and the time history analysis (THA) method. The structural dynamic responses are compared and the applicability of the two methods in the seismic design of jacket platform is assessed. Furthermore, a sensitivity study is conducted to investigate the effects of earthquake strength

When analyzing forced dynamic response to random excitation, obtaining root-mean-square (RMS) results without having to compute the underlying power spectral density (PSD) functions can significantly reduce solution time and memory usage. An algorithm for such calculations published by de la Fuente [1, 2] has been incorporated in ATA Engineering’s Vibrata™ program, a GUI- and text-file-driven modal dynamic analysis tool that works with Femap™ and MATLAB® to provide random, transient, harmonic, and response spectrum analysis. Abstract Jacket structures are one of the most important offshore structures for extracting oil and gas. The fatigue life is affected due to the continuous dynamic wave force experienced by the structure. Generally, the structure is designed so that the dynamic response is small, which increases the cost. So, controlling its response is a good alternative to increase its life span. In this work, a simplified jacket structure under a random sea state is controlled for its response using a tuned liquid column ball gas damper (TLCBGD). The jacket structure in a water depth of 60m is modeled in a

This paper experimentally investigated the evolution of the tip clearance flow of a CRAC (Contra-Rotating Axial Compressor) test rig by means of high-response dynamic pressure measurements. The unsteady pressure field along both chordwise and circumferential directions in the tip clearance is recorded. The tip clearance vortex trajectory is captured using RMS (Root-Mean Square) method. Pressure spectrum analysis indicates that the unsteadiness of tip clearance vortex occurred when the flow coefficient approaches low enough even in the stable operating point. The unsteadiness of tip clearance v

Abstract:
Mycoplasma iowae (Mi) is a pathogenic avian mycoplasma which causes mortality in turkey embryos and as such has clinical and economic significance for the turkey breeder industry. Control of Mi infection is severely hampered by lack of adequate diagnostic tests, together with resistance to most antibiotics and resilience to environment. A markedly high degree of intra-species antigenic variation also contributes to difficulties in detection and control of infection. In this project we have designed an innovative gene-based diagnostic test based on specific amplification of the 16S rRNA gene of

Abstract:
Recreational vehicles have a lot of potential consumers in China, especially the type C recreational vehicle is popular among consumers due to its advantages, prompting an increase in the production and sales volumes. The type C vehicle usually has a higher air drag than the common commercial vehicles due to its unique appearance. It can be reduced by optimizing the structural parameters, thus the energy consumed by the vehicle can be decreased. The external flow field of a recreational vehicle is analyzed by establishing its computational fluid dynamic (CFD) model. The characteristic of the R
