Abstract:
Youth restiveness is an attribute of youthful exuberance which has become a global phenomenon. The increasing rate of youth restiveness is becoming alarming and poses serious challenges to developing countries of the world, especially Nigeria with large population of youths. Youth restiveness has attracted the attentions of policy makers and educational stakeholders in Nigeria. Youth restiveness and its attendant consequences have greatly contributed to insecurities and uncertainties in Nigeria. The focus of this paper is to examine youth restiveness in the 21st century Nigeria and the roles of functional education in curbing the menace. The study adopted frustration – aggression theory of crime by Dollard et al in 1939 and made conceptual clarifications of youths and their roles in the society as well as the meaning of youth restiveness. The study identified the causes of youth restiveness as bad governance, corruption, unemployment, poverty, lack of adequate recreational facilities and programmes as well as lack of quality functional education in the country. The study also explained the meaning of functional education, the characteristics of functional education and the relevance of functional education in solving the problems of youth restiveness. Finally, the study made a conclusion and suggested among others that government should generate employment in order to effectively engage the youths, provide basic amenities, such as water, good roads, health care services, electricity etc, a functional rule of law in governance to check corruption and bad leadership, adequate provision of security measures for the citizens, and establishment of entrepreneurship programmes at all levels of our educational institutions to equip the youths with the necessary skills to be self-reliance after school.

Abstract:
This study investigates socio-economic marginalization and youths’ restiveness impact on community development. The study employed content analysis with indepth literature review as methodology. Socioeconomic marginalization is the exclusion of the youth in the social and economic activities of the community and also denying them from benefiting from socio -economic opportunities of the land. The concept of youth restiveness is the unwelcome attitude and behaviour, demonstrating violence and grievances to press home their demands, needs and aspiration. All of these impact community development which represent real change in the life of a community in terms of the people, infrastructure, the environment. Empirical literatures have investigated the nexus among socio-economic marginalization, youths’ restiveness and their impact on community development and found strong correlations among the variables. Thus, socio-economic marginalization brings about youths’ restiveness which in turn crops up negative impact on community development. This is validated with this studies. To reverse this trend, socio-economic inclusion should be encouraged which will in turn eliminate restiveness of youth and bring about sustainable community development. Thus, this study concludes that, involvement of youth in social and economic activities of the community, opening opportunities for them will curb restiveness and crop up sustainable community development. Therefore, the study recommends that, there should be youth involvement in terms of participation and benefits association with the socio-economic activities of the community. This will systematically eliminate restiveness and drive community development.

Abstract:
<em>Youth restiveness has caused a lot of setbacks in the socio-economic development of the Niger Delta region and Nigeria at large. Multi-National Oil Companies&rsquo; activities were disrupted thereby resulting in a loss of revenue accruing to the government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and by extension the oil-producing states through the 13% derivation. Other problems generated by youth restiveness include land degradation through oil spillage, loss of lives and property, and in most cases human displacement.</em> <em>This study set out to understand the effects of youth restiveness on the socioeconomic development of Nigeria and the oil-rich Niger Delta region. It adopted a research design, using a questionnaire to generate empirical data in order to outline the nature of youth restiveness in the Niger Delta Region, identify the causes of this youth restiveness, evaluate the effect of this youth restiveness on the socio-economic development in the Niger Delta Region, appraise the actions taken by governments at solving the problem and suggest further measures for solving the conflict situation beyond current government efforts. The study found, among other things, that youth vandalism and kidnapping were targeted mostly at Public and Private (Corporate) facilities; that their restiveness is mostly attributed to lack of employment; and that the declaration of amnesty by the government has gone a long way in addressing youth restiveness. The need for government to allow the federating units to control their resources showed up strongly as well.</em> <em>Further, the study highlighted the need for different and innovative approaches in promoting youth&rsquo;s survival and growth by the government through enhanced security, and social and economic policies that will engineer development in the region. More has to be put in place to foster youth inclusion in the scheme of things.</em>

Abstract:
The causes of youth restiveness are many and continue to increase every day, just as the miscreants who thrive on this misdemeanour improve on their talent for mischief. The youths constitute a large army of the unemployed and blame their plight on the society that does not care for them. Youth restiveness is the omnibus term for a host of anti-social and downright criminal behaviours perpetrated by a sizeable proportion of youth in various communities around Nigeria. This study evaluated the influence of social media on youth restiveness in Nigeria. The study adopted qualitative methodology. An interview technique was used to collect data. A total of fifty-five participants were purposively selected for the interview due to their vast knowledge on the topic under study. The findings revealed that the youth use social media to receive and share information and that fake news-play role in escalating violence, youths are involved in restiveness due to unemployment, rebel, youths and exuberance, youth restiveness leads to breakdown of law and order, low productivity, disruption of production activities. Abstract:
Youth restiveness has become a topical issue for discussion in the social, economic and polity domain in Nigeria. It is a fact that Nigeria cannot thrive and progress significantly with youths who are restive. Nigeria’s peace, security and corporate existence as a nation is threatened because of the prevalence of this phenomenon. The causes of youth restiveness are connected to unemployment, lack of basic and inadequate infrastructural facilities and inadequate social amenities amongst others. The spiralling effect of youth restiveness are evident in Nigeria as ethnic militia, kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, agitations and involvement in social insecurity. The causes and effects of youth restiveness have promoted uncertainties which have led to failure, fear and underdevelopment of most sectors in the Nigeria. The conflict theory explains that threatening events such as wars, revolution, domestic violence and others are as a result of competition and limited resources. Unfortunately, Nigeria’s government has not done enough by providing basic facilities, employment opportunities and effective empowerment programmes for the youths to be gainfully employed. This study holds unto the premise that in order to control youths in Nigeria, their skills, talents and education must be recognized, encouraged and channelled to the right sector in the society for growth, sustainable development and national peace. This paper reviewed the arguments surrounding youth restiveness in Nigeria alongside some recommendations on how the government could effectively be organized and responsible to counter the growing rate of youth restiveness in Nigeria.&#x0D; Keywords: Causes, Effects, Control Youth, Peace

Abstract:
This research sought to interrogate the implications of youth restiveness on leadership problem in Africa using the Nigeria experience. Three research questions were formulated. 1,000 respondents were sampled from youth in Edo, Delta and Anambra States. The conflict theory was adopted as the theoretical orientation for the study. The quantitative technique which relied on a self-constructed instrument was employed to collect data while the data generated from the field was analyzed with the aid of percentage. The study found that youth restiveness in Africa is mostly a result of employment, illiteracy and unfair distribution of mineral resources. Violent protests and destruction of properties, increase in social and criminal vices were some of youth restiveness. The study recommends that the ills associated with youth restiveness can be curbed through good governance, provision of skill acquisition programmes, creation of more employment opportunities for youth as well as public enlightenment against this social malaise which has become evident in the African continent.

Abstract:
The study examined the economic empowerment and youth restiveness in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. The specific objectives of the study are to determine the effect of employment, education, recreation and social orientation on youth restiveness in Aba. The study adopted descriptive survey design. This study was conducted in Aba, Abia State Nigeria. The metro population of Aba is put at 1,230,407, according to Google (2024). However, following Ekwueme (2014), the population of the youth in Aba is about sixty (60%) percent of the entire population. Hence, 60% of 1,230,407 (Aba population) is 738,244.2. On the strength of this, the population of the study, which makes up the youths is 738,244. With a known population, the sample size of 400 was determined using Taro Yamane statistical formula. We adopted simple random sampling techniques. Structured questionnaire was the major instrument for data collection. The data were analyzed with descriptive statistics such as mean, simple percentage and frequency, and the result shows that all the economic empowerment variables have positive effect on youth restiveness. The four stated hypotheses were tested with multiple linear regression model and the result revealed that, there is significant effect of employment, education and recreation on youth restiveness in Aba, Abia State. However, there is no significant effect of social orientation on youth restiveness in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. In conclusion, economic empowerment significantly affects youth restiveness in Aba, Abia State, Nigeria. We, therefore, recommended that the government should create jobs to give employment to job seekers as a way of keeping them busy and out of idleness, because an idle brain they say, is the devil’s workshop. Also, entrepreneurship skills acquisition training that produces skilled manpower, innovative and self-reliant citizens should be part of youth trainings than resorting to the palliative and unsustainable approach to attacking hunger, among others.

Abstract:
Youth restiveness has escalated in contemporary Nigeria, becoming a source of national concern. Unfortunately, Nigeria cannot thrive and make any meaningful progress if it continues to being plagued by youth restiveness. Being the most populous country in Africa and one of the most populous nations globally, Nigeria has a higher population of young people, that are restive than most countries of the world. Nigeria’s peace, security, progress and unity as a nation are under siege due to this phenomenon. However, the causes of youth’s restiveness are linked to unemployment, lack of basic and quality education, inadequate provision of welfare package, lack of infrastructural facilities, inequality and lack of other basic social amenities. The increased and negative effects of youth restiveness are present everywhere in Nigeria today as kidnapping, ritual killings, militancy, crimes, violence, bombing, destruction of government properties, cultism, armed robbery and political instability, among a host of others, bedevil the country. However, in some ways, youth restiveness could be linked to the failure and bad leadership style in Nigeria. The conflict theory will be used to explain threatening situations like war, killings, revolution, domestic violence, cybercrime and others. It is however pathetic that successive governments in Nigeria have failed to provide solutions to this menace through the provision of basic and quality education to teaming Nigeria youths, as well as employment opportunities, and other effective empowerment programmes. This study argues that for us to curtail and control youth restiveness in Nigeria, the government should harness youth skills and talents, ensure the provision of employment opportunities, and put in place quality education. The strength, wisdom and leadership skills of the youths should be channelled to various leadership positions in the society for growth.

Abstract:
Youth restiveness is a significant issue in 21st-century Nigeria, impacting national growth and development. It manifests in immoral behaviours like cultism, prostitution, sexual assaults, street violence, gambling, looting, drug addiction, and child trafficking. This menace has impacted the Mushin environment of Lagos State, posing threats to the physical and spiritual development of Christianity in the local government and affecting life, properties, religious organisations, and corporate existence in the area. This research utilised participant observation and archival search methods to study youth restiveness, especially its effects on Christianity in the Mushin Local Government of Lagos State. A study involving 1,000 parishioners of Holy Trinity Anglican Church and United African Methodist Church in Mushin, Lagos State, with the distribution of 500 questionnaires, found that youth restiveness is influenced by factors such as lack of parental upbringing, unemployment, poverty, corruption, gangs, and ecclesiastical negligence. This leads to depletion in church membership, cultism, sexual discrepancies, extortion, family breakdown, drug abuse, human trafficking, and a bleak leadership future. The research advocates for comprehensive programs, including physical and spiritual ones, to address youth restiveness and its sociological concerns. It suggests parents as role models and the church as a catalyst for policy shaping and evangelization. The Nigerian government should prioritise education, research, and empowerment, including moral education and civic engagement. School administrators should adopt appropriate managerial styles to curb restiveness and immoral acts. The church should also enhance youth and women's status.

The design adopted for the study is the descriptive survey design. One thousand Six hundred and ninety (1690) undergraduate students of Niger Delta University formed the population of the study. While the sample size comprised 338 undergraduates selected through random sampling technique from the education faculty of the university. The researchers developed the Youth Restiveness and Militancy (YRM) Questionnaire with 21 items and used it for the study. Three research questions and two hypotheses were formulated for this study. For the two hypotheses, there were no significant differences on the basis of gender in the perceived factors responsible for youth restiveness and militancy in the Niger Delta Region and the perceived causes of youth restiveness and militancy on religion issues. The major issues shown on the results include slow or casual approach of government, corruption, unemployment, poverty and bad governance which are causal issues of the cankerworms. Furthermore, from the results, there were evidence that youth restiveness and militancy may culminate in economic stagnation, fear and suspicions, political instability, terrorism, et-cetera. Remediations to the canker worms include creation of employment for the youths, provision of counselling services in schools and communities, poverty eradication by government and so on. The following recommendations were made as fallouts from the study which included peace education at all levels of education, job creation for all youths and the provision of counselling services in the universities, secondary schools and the communities.

The study was concerned with the techniques for curbing youth unemployment and restiveness through global partnership in Technical Vocational Education and Training for achieving sustainable development goals 2016-2030 in North-East Nigeria. As the survey research design was adopted, four specific objectives and four null hypotheses guided the study. The population of the study was 468 subjects, consisting of 282 Social workers and 186 Vocational guidance counselors in six states of the North-East geopolitical zone of Nigeria. The entire population was used as the sample for the study because of its small size. Data was collected using a structured questionnaire titled - Curbing Youth Unemployment and Restiveness through Global Partnership in Technical Vocational Education and Training Questionnaire (CYURGPTEVTQ), validated by three experts with a Cronbach alpha correlation coefficient of 0.88. The researchers and two research assistants administered the instrument. Mean, and Standard deviation was used to answer the research questions, while student t-test statistics were used to analyze the null hypotheses at a 0.05 level of significance (P = 0.05). The study showed that youth unemployment was the critical factor generating community restiveness. Based on the findings, jobs should be created, and youths should be equipped with relevant skills, attitudes, and knowledge through TVET to curb youth unemployment and restiveness.

Abstract:
The Niger Delta has been a cauldron of restiveness and violent conflicts. Most of these conflicts result from the failure of the multinational corporations operating in the region to adequately discharge their Corporate Social Responsibility to the people. It is against this backdrop that this paper examines the issue of Corporate Social Responsibility as the panacea for the restiveness and conflict in the region as we as the crucial role the mass media have to play in assisting the corporate organisations to effectively discharge their obligations to the people. It is propounded here that failure to disseminate relevant information in this regard has led to mistrust and misunderstanding which eventually culminate in restiveness and conflict. The role of the media is therefore equally examined. The paper discovers that the media are constrained in the performance of this role. These constraints are presented and ways of tackling them are proffered.

Abstract:
Youth restiveness has been on the increase in almost every community in Nigeria. This has contributed to massive loss of lives and properties, which constitute a major threat to security of the state and its corporate existence. The aim of this research was to examine the relationship between Social Entrepreneurship (SE) andYouth Restiveness (YR). The study followed the pragmatic philosophical paradigm combining both the inductive and the deductive methods of scientific inquiry in a cross-sectional survey. A systematic random sampling was adopted to collect datafrom308 youths that werebetween 18 and 46 years old, using a self-structured questionnaire.Mentorship was used as a dimension of SE while dysfunctional protest was used to measure YR. The descriptive (mean, percentages and standard deviation) and inferential statistics were used to analyse the data. The findings showed that there were more males (82.8%) than females (17.2%). Half of the youth were graduates and only 28.1% were not. A mean score below 5 points was obtained, indicating that the youths admitted to having a good relationship with the experienced persons they worked with. It was also observed that an increase in dysfunctional protest was not as a result of the adoption of Mentorship (r = 0.550). In conclusion, mentorship inversely affects youth restiveness thus efforts to curb youth restiveness should adopt mentorship model.

Abstract:
This paper examines youth restiveness with specific examples from socially excluded communities across the nation and the challenges it brings to the socio-political and economic system cum the willing foreign investors and investments. This work relies heavily on secondary sources of data; to examine the activities of youth violence in the country. Some of these youth gangs are the Yandaba in Kano state, Area boys in Lagos, Kauraye in Katsina, and of course the Niger Delta militants, the Mosob in the east and a host of others in some parts of the country. These are restive youths due to an unequal distribution of the socio-political and economic resources of the country. When socially excluded youths cannot depend on those institutions designed to protect them, violence becomes an instrument to achieve certain outcomes, such as justice, security and economic gains. When conventional methods of obtaining and working for increased social status, higher incomes and wider influence are limited, as they are often are, in marginalized communities, consequently, they are compelled to resort to violent actions and behaviors. Thus youth violence and violence interact in a vicious circle that leaves the youth in a hostile social situation, where the borders between legal and illegal, legitimate and illegitimate are not clear and uncertain. The use of violence by these youths who are in the minority affects the lives of the majority of the people, who do not resort to violence, thereby disrupting economic activities, thus affecting human and capital development negatively.

Abstract:
This study, ‘’Social Marketing and the Management of Youth Restiveness in Nigeria’s Oil-Producing Region’’ extends the contextual boundary of social marketing by examining its relationship with youth restiveness in the South-south region of Nigeria. Therefore this study probably represents a maiden attempt in social marketing literature as against the conventional application of the phenomenon in inducing behavioural change in health related domains. Contrary to empirical tradition, this study investigated the possibility of social marketing as an effective tool for reducing the scourge of youth restiveness and criminality in the troubled South-south region of Nigeria. Using a systematic sampling procedure, 6 states where selected from the 9 states of the Niger delta on the bases of their oil and pipeline bearing statuses, two local government areas were selected per state and four communities per local government area from where unit of analyses or respondents (comprising community youths, leaders, elders, ex militants and their relatives) for the research were drawn who responded to the survey instruments that were distributed..Thereafter, multiple regression was used to analyse obtained field data and findings revealed a positive relationship between social marketing and management of youth restiveness in the South-south region. Hence it was recommended that multinational oil companies operating in the area should invest more in quality and durable infrastructural development as well as free human capital development programs such as vocational cum entrepreneurial programs, scholarship, intern-ship as well as provide employment opportunities as an army of unemployed youths is tantamount to sitting on top a keg of gun powder which could explode in no time.

Abstract:
The spate of mental health issues and social decadence among the adolescents has necessitated this study which aimed at correlating emotional intelligence and restiveness among the in-school university adolescents in Enugu State higher institutions, Nigeria. The study formulated five research hypotheses which were tested at 0.05 level of significance using correlation co-efficient analysis of Pearson Product Moment correlation. The study adopted a correlation research design and was carried out in four universities in Enugu state. A sample of (N-120)undergraduates were selected through a Peer Nomination Scale and a purposive sample to include equal numbers of male and female, thirty students from each school. Two research instruments were administered to the selected respondents namely; the Emotional Intelligence Questionnaire (EIQ) and Restiveness Factor Description (RFD).The instruments were validated through pilot study for the reliability index and vetting for its face and content validity by experts in the field of test and measurement. Descriptive statistics of mean and percentages were employed to code the responses while Pearson Product Moment Correlation Coefficient was adopted to test the five hypotheses. The findings from the study returned negative significant correlation between all the five domains of Emotional intelligence and restiveness. The students’ responses on the five emotional intelligence domains were all at average low mean of 2.04, 2.13, 1.96, 1.99 and 1.97 respectively indicating that the restive adolescents are low on Emotional Intelligence. It was recommended that the universities should provide resources both human and materials tailored towards promoting the different components of emotional intelligence. The counselling implications were also proffered.

Abstract:
This study explores the relationship between unemployment and social crimes among university graduates in the Kosofe Local Government Area of Lagos State. The research aimed to answer five key questions and tested corresponding hypotheses. An ex-post facto design was adopted, with a sample drawn from the population of young people in Kosofe. The sample of 400 individuals was selected through purposeful sampling from locations such as bars, betting centres, and okada rider parks. Data was collected using a self-structured questionnaire, the USCG (Unemployment and Social Crimes Graduate) questionnaire, which was validated through face validity. A pilot study in the Ikorodu Local Government Area confirmed the reliability of the instrument. The data were analyzed using Pearson Product Moment Correlation and t-test statistical tools. The findings indicated that there is no significant relationship between graduate unemployment and cybercrime, but a significant relationship was found between graduate unemployment and gambling, prostitution, and youth restiveness. Additionally, no significant gender differences in social crimes among unemployed graduates were observed. The study concluded that graduate unemployment contributes to social crimes such as gambling, prostitution, and youth restiveness. Based on these findings, it is recommended that the government create more industries to address graduate unemployment, thereby reducing cybercrime and other associated social crimes.

Abstract:
It goes without gainsaying, that, sports have become a universal language spoken by all and sundry. Its universality is such that it cuts across cultural, religious, ethnic and national divide. It has the tendency of aligning people of diverse creed and colour, through its unifying prowess. All over the world, it is apparent that sport fanatics are youths between the ages of 18 and 40, cutting across all genders. With the right policies and political will, sports and sporting activities can be made a viable national development tool, which has the tendency to deter young people from restiveness and curb nuisance, hence, turning our youths into a more productive workforce. It is against this backdrop that the paper attempts to analytically x-ray the nexus between sports, youth restiveness and national development. The paper relies mostly on content analysis as its methodology but infuses key-person-interview (KPI), alongside the desk research, thereby adopting both qualitative and quantitative methodology. The paper finds that with commitment from all stakeholders, sporting activities can be explored to better engage our youths and position them as contributors to national development. The paper recommends amongst others that, governments at all levels must ensure they prioritise sporting activities and tap into the resourcefulness of the youths for a more prosperous productive young workforce.

Abstract:
Languages spoken by the agglomerating ethnic groups in Nigeria instanced monopolistic closures. These closures were political, linguistic, socio-religious and settlement patterns. Regarding settlement patterns, Nigerians from particular ethnic groups tended to aggregate to live in defined patches of urban centres. For instance, are the Hausa quarters (Ama Awusa) or the Gariki in Igboland; Sabon Gari (where peoples from Eastern Nigeria or, particularly, the Igbo lived in Kano) in Northern Nigeria; the Munchi (from Tivland or the Tiv) in the Middle Belt of Nigeria; the Omumini ajaokuta (those who could eat stone without drinking water, referring to the Igbo) in Yorubaland; and Ndi ofe manu, referring to the Yoruba by the Igbo. There were equally day-to-day spoken monopolistic closures, such as “I bi Warri pikin” (I am a Warri youth) and “Ima kwa ndi anyi bu” (Do you know who we are by Igbo youths). Individuals and groups used their spoken languages to create barriers and monopolistic closures through voiced innuendoes against perceived, real or imagined marginalization, which became rife when the majoritarian and minoritarian concepts were blown out of proportion by Nigeria’s political elite. A worst-case closure manifested after the Biafra-Nigeria Civil War, when the Igbo, a hitherto majority group in the then Nigerian tripod of the Igbo, Huasa/Fulani and Yoruba majoritarian(s) umbrella became drowned into a minority through a gang-up of all the minority groups in the South-south and the South-south east. Ever since, the Igbo cried out to be marginalized. The paper concluded that the events in the political and socio-economic landscape of Nigeria were ethnically and politically motivated; and clinically underpinned by languages and their speakers. The paper was written with primary sources while secondary sources served subsidiary and complementary purposes.

Abstract:
The Nigeria Delta region has long been a hotbed of literary activity, producing writers of international repute such as Tanure Ojaide, Chris Aban and Ken Saro-Wiwa. However, in recent years, there has been an emergence of new voices from the region, which is bringing to the fore new thematic preoccupations that reflect the changing socio-political realities of the region. Thus, the paper provides an overview of the emerging thematic preoccupations in Nigeria Delta literature, drawing from a range of contemporary literary works from the region. The paper identifies three key themes that are increasingly becoming central to the discourse of Nigeria Delta literature: environmental degradation, political corruption, and youth restiveness. The first theme, environmental degradation, reflects the devastating impact of oil exploration and exploitation on the Niger Delta region. The second theme, political corruption, is a recurring motif in Nigeria Delta literature. The third theme, youth restiveness, reflects the increasing frustration and anger of young people in the Niger Delta region. Overall, this paper argues that the emerging thematic preoccupations in Nigeria Delta literature reflect the changing socio-political realities of the region. By engaging with these themes, Nigeria Delta writers are providing powerful critiques of the problems facing the region, as well as offering new visions for a more just and equitable future.

Abstract:
Until recent time, the Nigerian space is besieged with issues emanating from “End-SARS” agitation, masterminded by some aggrieved youths who publicly protest to seek redress in fundamental issues that are affecting the Nigerian front in the 21st century. These issues include police brutalities, corrupt governance, hardship, weak political system, incessant killings, poverty, tribalism, divide, and rule system, and suffering. Their means of agitation include public demonstrations, blockade of governmental establishments, and disruption of governmental and non-governmental economic and social activities. This further paves room for hoodlums to acerbate their heinous and malicious acts, which includes likes of youth restiveness, shop breaking, theft, looting, and destruction of properties. These malicious dichotomies unequivocally increase the pain, suffering, hunger, and death of the people and threaten the existence of the Nigerian state. The study, therefore, aims at identifying the cause and effect of “End-SARS” agitation in the Nigerian space, drawing reference from Uzo Nwamara’s Dance of the Delta. To achieve this, Textual Analytical Approach and Social and Behavioural Change Communication Theory are employed as guides. Uzo Nwamara as a new generational Nigerian playwright strives in his plays to address issues of terrorism, youth restiveness, political bigotry, and tribal sentiments. Amongst the major suggestions, the study insists that job opportunities should be made available to the Nigerian youths as that would help decrease the rate of crime which paves room for the establishment of SARS and other crime-related agencies that are positioned to tackle crimes in the Nigerian state.

Abstract:
An attempt to illustrate how the environment has a far-reaching, marked impact on literature in respect of Chimeka Garricks’s Tomorrow Died Yesterday (2010) entails an eclectic, cross-disciplinary preoccupation. It is an initiative that considers why Niger Delta’s youths have to contend with not only enduring economic disenfranchisement but also environmental degradation emanating from regular oil spillages in the region. Often in a particular ecocritical literary work, a writer has to present a balanced view. For Garricks, artistic, political, economic and environmental concerns raised in the novel are inextricably interwoven with Niger Delta’s youth restiveness. The article reassesses how this novel portrays the interaction between environmental degradation and youth marginalisation in the oil-bearing Delta region in contemporary Nigeria. It further examines the way Garricks explores the theme of environmental devaluation of his Niger Delta society as it impinges on the youth restiveness in Tomorrow Died Yesterday. The paper interrogates the power of imagination in its appropriation of word, imagery and symbolism to represent the debilitating problematic of environmental concerns in the oil-bearing region of Nigeria  Ecocriticism is utilised as the theoretical framework to argue that socio ecological  issues of the Niger Delta constitute the maJor focus of the novel as they underpin the economic  emasculation  of youths from the region,  underlined  in the lives of the characters  portrayed in the novel. The paper concludes that the radical transformation  of the Niger  Delta from  a peaceful  littoral  haven  into the ransom taking  enclave  of the present  is grounded  in Garricks's  creative  depiction  of the youths' debilitating economic marginality, derived from the perilous environmental degradation of that region in the past decades.

Lack of pertinent skills has been linked to youth unrest brought on by rising unemployment rates. This work offered a method for students to learn without the assistance of a subject-matter expert (SME). The paper is a source of information that focuses on using the internet to develop entrepreneurial skills to address the issue of youth unemployment in developing countries. It is a fact that entrepreneurial skills are essential to job creation; active use of the internet to acquire pertinent knowledge could lead to self-actualization. Youth unemployment in developing nations is on the rise. This paper used real-world examples to demonstrate how internet resources can be helpful for performing tasks both at home and in the workplace. For example, studying saponification in chemistry can be taught similarly to how it is used in the soap manufacturing industry. Information on troubleshooting guides for electrical machines (electric motors and synchronous generators) was also provided from secondary sources. Finally, the "Internet of Skills" could be used to design a microgrid system. The Internet of Skills strategy was employed as the technique to accomplish this. With this strategy, it is possible to reduce youth unrest and improve security.
