Gelin, Marie-Pierre. "Synthèse et étude des propriétés thermiques de nouveaux bismaleimides cristaux liquides." Toulon, 2004. http://www.theses.fr/2004TOUL0020.
Full textThe subject relates to the achievement of original bismaleimides including a mesogenic group and a flexible spacer and to the study of their properties. These new monomers have a symmetrical molecular structure which comprises a mesogenic group of type phenylbenzoate or aromatic amide and a flexible structure of type polymethylenic, polyoxyethylenic or organofluorine. The flexible groups are connected to the mesogenic groups by an ether or ester junction. A study of the thermal properties and the cross-linking of these compounds in the liquid crystalline state were carried out. These new materials present, according to their structure, of the interesting glass temperatures. With aromatic amides, these temperatures are higher than 300°C. The correlations between structure and thermal properties were specified. These correlations give interesting development prospects in the field of the thermosetting resins

Full textEver-changing technologies require new, high-performance and more specialized materials with highly specialized functions. Such materials are no longer one-component systems. The systems which are the subject of the investigation, the chemically crosslinked copolymers of the "isobornyl acrylate-co-isobutyl acrylate" type (IBOA-co-IsoBA), were prepared by photopolymerization / crosslinking under UV-visible radiation of the two monomers. IBOA and IsoBA in the presence of a di-functional crosslinking agent and a photoinitiator. In this work the thermal and mechanical properties were studied by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).We have found by calorimetric analysis (DSC) that the modification of the concentration of crosslinking agent, the amount of monomers, and the speed of the heating ramp affect, in particular, the glass transition temperature Tg: an increase of these parameters causes an increase in the glass transition temperature of the copolymer. Thermogravimetric analysis by (TGA) shows that the degradation of the copolymer occurs in two stages, and that the increase of the amount of IsoBA decreases the degradation temperature of the copolymer. The study of copolymers of type (IBA-co-IsoBA) by DMA was undertaken according to the frequency and the temperature, in order to evaluate the modulus of elasticity (E') and of loss (E''). A master curve has been obtained using the time-temperature superposition principle. Modeling of the mechanical relaxations was carried out by applying the models of Arrhenius, Cole-Cole, WLF and VFT (Vogel Fulcher Tamman)

Full textThe control of macromolecular structure has recently become an important topic of polymer science from both an academic and an industrial point of view. Indeed, free-radical crosslinking of Polydimethyl-vinylmethyl-siloxane (vinyl-PDMS) rubber by organic peroxide suffers from premature crosslinking at high temperatures, which is called scorching. Consequently, the basic aim of the investigations described in this thesis is to widen and explore the network topology–crosslinking kinetics relationships and find a novel way to control free-radical crosslinking chemistry and topological parameters of final PDMS networks. The work is primarily focused on the extensive study of the crosslinking control of PDMS rubber at high temperatures. A novel composition using 2,2,6,6-tetramethylpiperidinyloxyl (TEMPO) and dicumyl peroxide (DCP) for scorch delay and control of the final network topology of the PDMS has been proposed. The work specified in this thesis is therefore directed to find a proper [TEMPO]/[DCP] ratio provided the development of a new biphasic material such as PA12/PDMS blend type TPV (Thermoplastic Vulcanizated). For this purpose a new method based on the relationship between the kinetics of the macro-radicals coupling [Rcc(t)] was derived from a fundamental kinetic model and the viscoelastic changes of the complex shear modulus (G’(t) and G”(t)). The kinetic model takes into account the initiator (DCP) decomposition and the trapped PDMS macro-radicals in the presence of a radical scavenger such as TEMPO. As a main result, the rheological modelling shows that this new method accurately predicts the time variation of complex shear modulus at any temperature and [TEMPO]/[DCP] ratio. Interestingly, addition of TEMPO to the TPV novel composition provided the PA12/PDMS blend compatibilization in the dynamic process and gives a new material having a controlled structure and morphology. A better insight in understanding the blend composition and the morphology development relationships is aimed at.

Full textApart from that, mass spectrometry has become a major tool in biology: it is the basis of proteomics, that is to say the identification and characterization of all proteins in a given compartment, in given conditions, at a given time. Moreover, it has been demonstrated that chemical reticulation followed by mass spectrometry brings valuable informations about protein structure. This PhD thesis represents the bioinformatics part of a multidisciplinary project involving chemists and mass spectrometrists aiming at developing novel strategies based on chemical reticulations. On the one hand, a new informatics tool has been developed making it possible to easily analyze mass data obtained from chemically reticulated proteins. The originality of this tool is to be able to exploit structural data, if available, which can be used to validate theoretical models obtained by molecular modeling for example. On the other hand, we explored an approach allowing to discriminate the folds that are compatible with distance constraints obtained by chemical reticulations. This could help to improve existing molecular modeling methods
