Obesity is currently considered a serious public health problem, especially as it plays a relevant role in the pathophysiology of various diseases. The influence of obesity on some metabolic disorders has been attributed to the ability of adipose tissue cells to produce various proinflammatory cytokines such as resistin (RETN). Recent studies have shown that genes encoding this protein may have genetic alterations potentially related to the predisposition to obesity. Objective: The objective of this study was to demonstrate the association between the -420C> G (rs1862513) polymorphism of the gene encoding RETN and obesity in a sample ofadults residing in the city of Jataí - GO, Brazil. Methodology: A cross-sectional study was carried out with 117 adults of both sexes, living in Jataí city and surrounding municipalities. Physiological data and anthropometric measurements were obtained and used to classify individuals according to body mass index (BMI), abdominal circumference (CA), systolic and diastolic blood pressure (SBP and DBP), as well as laboratory data of lipid profile and fasting blood glucose. Polymorphisms were identified from DNA extracted from peripheral blood mononuclear cells by the PCR-RFLP technique. Samples whose DNA extraction or PCR-FRLP technique were not successful were excluded from the study, so that the correlations between the anthropometric and laboratory data with the genotypes found were performed with an N = 72. Statistical analyzes were performed to determine if and which genotype is associated with obesity. Results: Regarding the characterization of the sample, it was observed that 57% had BMI ≥ 25kg / m2 and 51% had abdominal circumference considered as an increased or very increased risk for obesity. There was a positive correlation between BMI, CA and SBP. Regarding the genomic profile of the RETN -420 C

Full textThe main purpose of this thesis was to take part of girl’s descriptions and experiences of their treatment for deliberate self-harm and to investigate whether they still experience effects of the treatment today. Our main research questions where; how do the girls describe their experiences of the treatment method, do the girls describe that they still experience any effects of the treatment, and finally how do the girls look back on their treatment today? In order to answer these questions, we carried out eight qualitative telephone interviews with girls that had undergone treatment in a specific treatment centre. We chose to analyze the material from the salutogenic theory and the concepts of SOC (sense of coherence) and with a hermeneutic approach. Our result showed that the treatment methods that where most important where dialectic behaviour therapy, horse therapy and finally environmental therapy. Several of the girls could see remaining effects of the treatment today, while other girls could not see any of these effects. A couple of the girls expressed that they should have been dead if they had not been taken care of by the treatment centre while other girls meant that the treatment did not make any difference.

Full textObesity is caused by the imbalance between food intake and body energy expenditure, with the storage of energy in the form of fat, in adipose tissue. Obesity causes metabolic changes, such as insulin resistance and dyslipidemia, and an increase in adipokines and pro-inflammatory cytokines. This work investigated the influence of polymorphisms in the perilipine 1 (PLINI) , visfatin (NAMPT) , resistin (RETN) and ghrelin (GHRL) genes on adiposity and metabolic and inflammatory profile, before and after a nutritional orientation programo Obese (OB, n=214), overweight (SOB, n=71) and nonobese subjects (NOB, n=69), aged 30 to 70 years, were selected. ClinicaI, anthropometric and body composition data were obtained. The 24-hour dietary recall was applied to 87 obese subjects to eva1uate food intake before and after the nutritiona1 orientation programo Blood was obtained for DNA extraction and to analyze 1aboratory parameters (lipid and glycemic profile, inflammatory markers and adipokines). Po1ymorphisms of the PLINI, NAMPT, RETN and GHRL genes were analyzed by real-time PCR. The OB group had altered anthropometric profile and increased risk for hypertension, type 2 diabetes and dyslipidemia in comparison with SOB and NOB groups (p <0.05). Concentrations of glucose, total cholesterol, LDL cholesterol, VLDL cholesterol, triglycerides, apolipoprotein B (ApoB), interleukin 1β (IL-1β) and tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFα) were higher and the concentrations ofHDL cholesterol and apolipoprotein AI (apoAI) were lower in the OB than in the other groups (p <0.05). The frequencies of the genetic polymorphisms of the total group were similar to those of other populations. NAMPT rs1319501 C> T and rs10763861 C> T polymorphisms were associated with obesity (p <0.05). Genetic polymorphisms did not influence the anthropometric profile ofthe total group (p> 0.05), but in the obese group, the GHRL rs4684677 T> A polymorphism was related to a higher body fat percentage (p = 0.043). After nutritional orientation, a decrease in calorie intake and in the consumption of carbohydrates, total fats, sodium, magnesium and beta-carotene CP <0.05) were observed. Genetic polymorphisms did not influence the anthropometric profile and the dietary intake of obese individuaIs after nutritional orientation. In conclusion, NAMPT and GHRL gene polymorphisms contribute to adiposity but do not influence dietary behavior and anthropometric profile after nutritional orientation.

Full textThe research starts from an of economic preamble. The phenomenon of enterprise networks, in fact, stems from the economic reality of the markets. In this context, it couldn't be left out of consideration to outline a picture of the situation -even in crisis- which involved especially the Italian companies. Therefore, it was necessary to investigate the phenomenon of globalization, with reference to its origins, characteristics and consequences. Then the research focuses on the reconstruction of the dogmatic phenomenon. Starting from its reconstruction in terms of multilateral contract up to criticize this approach, not entirely satisfactory, as it is considered submissive opposed to the current expansion of the multilateral agreement. More convincing appears to be the scheme of the contractual connection, which has the advantage of preserving the autonomy and independence of the participating entrepreneurs, although framed in the context of an economic unit, which aims to achieve a common goal: the 'network common-good', well worthy of protection according to the article 1322 2.co. of the Civil code. In fact, the contract fits well to define network models both with symmetrical distribution of the decision-making power, and with asymmetric distribution, that is to say with a high level of internal hierarchy. On the other hand, couldn't be neglected the similarity with the hypothesis of contractual connection in the production stage; consisting in delegating to a third a share of the production, and in the distribution phase, thus the distribution occurs through networks of contracts. It also addresses the subject of responsibility for the network, setting the problem in two aspects: external and internal accountability. The first is resolved on the basis of trust mutual gained by each employer. The second is divided into non-contractual liability, linked up, in this case, to the art. 2050 Civil code, and contractual.

Doctoral thesis, Norwegian University of Science and Technology, Faculty of Architecture and Fine Art, 2001. http://urn.kb.se/resolve?urn=urn:nbn:no:ntnu:diva-1178.
Tankegangen bak ABC-metoden bygger blant annet på to antakelser:
The increase in the use of private cars for transportation has serious consequences.
The transportation work by means of private cars has been steadily increasing since limited licensing was abolished in 1960. This has several consequences, e.g. increased consumption in non-renewable energy, increased number of car related accidents, noise and air pollution. The increased mobility has also resulted in an expanded use of land for urban purposes.
One way to reduce these negative effects is 'transport demand management'. This entails integrated transport and land use planning. The National Policy Guidelines for co-ordinated land-use and transport planning recommend that businesses and other bodies should be located in accordance with the type of transport they generate. Services for the general public should be located on the basis of an overall regional assessment, related to nodes in the public transportation network. Undertakings, which create heavy transport, are to be located close to the railway, a port or the main highway network. This approach rests i.a. upon the Dutch "ABC-policy": "The right business in the right location".
The Dutch ABC-method is based on development of mobility profiles for businesses and accessibility profiles for areas. The mobility profile describes characteristics of the business type, which are of importance to transportation and traffic. The accessibility profile measures the quality of access to a location by public transport and car. A business should be sited at the location best suited to its particular transport requirements.
Does the transport capacity ability of a business depend upon the type of business and the location of the business?
The ABC-policy is i.a. based on two assumptions:
- The transport generating ability of a business is dependent on the type of business in question.
- The transport generating capacity of a business is dependent on the location of the business in question.
I have examined if these assumptions are valid in a Norwegian context. The transportation generating capacity of 20 businesses has been investigated to examine this. Transport generating ability is described as:
• How many trips are generated;
• What means of transportation are used;
• How long are the journeys.
By traffic is meant traffic by persons (visitors and employees) and freight carriers to and from the business in question.
I have attempted to explain variations in transport generating capacity by urban structure, characteristics of persons and freight coming to and from the business, and business type. This is done by investigation of transport generating capacity of 20 businesses in Trondheim. The businesses are located in different types of locations; A-, B- and C-locations, and the businesses are of different types; manufacturing industry, retail businesses and offices.

Full textThe purpose of the present research project is to analyze the importance of the networks organization model to answer to the challenge of the complexity of this historical, political, sociological and economic period; in particular, as far as the health networks are concerned, to respond to the exigency of putting the person in the centre of the care pathway and obtain a better integration of cares. Although the advantages of the networks model are well described in the literature , still there are only few studies in the area of evaluation. The case of study has treated the cancer network in the Romagna area as well as it was perceived from key informants, stakeholders (doctors, nurses, administrative workers) and persons with tumour experience. The analysis of the key informants brought out strongly the fact that the network was born to give quality answers to the patients needs, while from the analysis of the stakeholders emerged how the human relationships are important and the significance of having shared values to achieve the goals of care efficacy and quality. Instead, as far as the perception of the persons with tumour experience is concerned, the importance of the appropriateness of the care trajectory emerged as well as to have a continuity in the pathway , already difficult by itself, in addition to the importance of the services humanization and the correct doctor-to-patient communication.

Thus, the company will be able to position in the market and increase its market share to reach its target segment and potential customers effectively. Likewise, our target audience is divided in two segments. On the one hand, the first segment or also called ""consumers who want to rent luxury or designer bags"" focuses on modern peruvian women residing in Metropolitan Lima from 18 to 39 years of age from the socioeconomic status A, B and C. The proposal for segment 1 is to offer a digital space in which users can find different exclusive bags at affordable prices. On the other hand, the second segment or also called “owners” are those women who want to rent their luxury bags and earn extra money. This segment includes Peruvian women of sophisticated style residing in Metropolitan Lima from 20 to 40 years of age from the socioeconomic status A and B. Given this, during the course of the project it was possible to notice an incremental reception of the rent of luxury bags, which was with the impressions and interactions on social networks, Google Ads and Google Analytics.

RENT: A Director's Process describes the process a director undergoes in the creation of a piece of theater. It uses as its example Temple Theaters' 2010 production of RENT, and it examines how an MFA thesis production encapsulates the material garnered over three years' intensive study in a conservatory setting of the art and craft of directing. It explores the methodologies behind the pre-production process, including concept, approach, design, and casting, and continues into the production process, including rehearsal and performance. This thesis suggests a method of directing that is based on a formal approach, and shows this method to be as applicable to populist styles, such as musical theater, as it is to more experimental forms.

Rent is an extremely popular musical, recognizable across the globe. The iconic characters, images, and costumes from the original production have been copied and interpreted numerous times. I have chosen to reinterpret this script by examining the essence of each individual character. After researching magazines from the time period in which Rent was written and books containing information on AIDS and the East Village, all subject matter within Rent, I developed a design concept. Through a series of fourteen sketches I present my original concept for a very well known story. Production photographs and pre-production tables support my journey from concept to finished production.

Full textThe retrospective acquisitions of publications from earlier periods have been carried out by Adomas Mickevicius Vilnius County Public Library since the year 1950, when the the library has been founded. Documents of regional significance comprise an important part of the printed heritage of the library. The library also accumulated a large amount of old and rare publications of other documents, which, however, are dispersed throughout different library units and the status of which has not been clearly defined. This tentative status along with the narrow understanding of the printed heritage causes difficulties in making decisions when it comes to organization, research and actualization of old and rare publications. A question thus arises: how old and rare publications that do not belong to the category of regional study should be viewed, e.g, should they be treated more attentively as belonging to the category of printed heritage, or should they be just considered as regular publications having some degree of significanse in their value? This study provides evidence supporting the notion that the printed heritage can be made available for efficient access to and searching of information as well as for research and actualization only if it is organized in one location. Comprehensiveness of the search for information and its presentation to a public are depending on how well the printed heritage is defined. Publications that have been issued abroad before 1900 and publications... [to full text]

Full textNot only is cardinal de retz a memorialist. He also used his genius with equal felicity in the art of the spoken word. He was an orator out of necessity, due to his ecclesiastical profession. In addition to this, his active participation in the party of the fronde often gave him the opportunity of taking the floor both in public and in private. This study in the tradition of the ancient's conception of the orator analyses the many aspects of a rhetoric linked with the cult of glory. Three main parts emerge. The first concerns the private deliberations of the members of the fronde. The second illustrates a political eloquence which brings to light that of the orator in the city. Its stage being the streets, the movements of the crowd, the court, in the setting of an official reception and above all parliament, a court of justice transformed into a deliberative assembly because of the events. The third part deals with religious eloquence: anti-protestant controversy, predication, discussion on cartesianism. In this little known eloquence personal ambition is set against recognition of spiritual values. The aim of this work is to portray an original orator in comparison with the archetype defined by cicero in "the orator". It should also facilitate a better comprehension of the cardinal's personality and several disconcerting aspects of both his actions and his work. For the rhetoric which encompasses withim its perspective the man and the artist in relation to a public contributes to a better understanding of the phenomenon of literary creation
