Cash flow information is more transparent, easier to control, less affected by accounting policies, and more clearly shows whether a company generates real money. Therefore, it is obvious that when assessing the profitability, along with the other profitability ratios, it is also necessary to take into account return on cash flow ratios.
The Ukrainian companies’ financial statements contain information that allows to calculate a number of cash flow profitability metrics. There are various approaches to the design of cash flow profitability metrics: some of them interpret cash flow as a dynamic form of company’s monetary resources, and others – as a result of financial activity. Cash flow profitability metrics are less susceptible to distortion than traditional profitability metrics calculated by profit. Unfortunately, the statistical reports of the Ukraine State Statistics Service do not contain information about the cash flows of the Ukrainian business entities, so there is no possibility to compare the obtained values with industry average indicators. This makes it difficult to carry out comparative analytical work when using metrics of cash flow profitability.<br>Інформація про рух грошових коштів більш прозора, легше піддається контролю, менше схильна до впливу облікової політики та чіткіше показує, чи генерує компанія реальні грошові кошти. Тому очевидно, що при оцінці прибутковості підприємства, поряд з іншими коефіцієнтами рентабельності, необхідно брати до уваги також і коефіцієнти рентабельності грошових потоків.
Фінансова звітність українських підприємств містить інформацію, яка дозволяє розрахувати цілий ряд метрик рентабельності грошового потоку. Існують різні підходи до конструювання метрик рентабельності грошового потоку: одні з них трактують грошовий потік як динамічну форму грошових ресурсів підприємства, а інші – як результат фінансової діяльності. Метрики рентабельності грошового потоку менш схильні до спотворень, ніж традиційні метрики рентабельності, які розраховані за прибутком. На жаль, статистичні звіти Державної служби статистики України не містять інформації про грошові потоки українських суб'єктів господарської діяльності, тому відсутня можливість порівнювати отримані значення з середньогалузевими показниками. Це істотно ускладнює проведення порівняльної аналітичної роботи при використанні метрик рентабельності грошових потоків.

Mestrado em Finanças<br>Investigamos como o fluxo de caixa das operações afeta o retorno do preço das ações e o custo da dívida e comparamos o efeito relativo do fluxo de caixa versus o lucro líquido nos dois custos de financiamento. Este documento também compara a liquidez entre os índices STOXX Europe 600 e Amman 100 (ASE100), usando quatro medidas: Fluxo de Caixa das Operações, Retorno Ajustado ao Mercado, Retorno Anormal Cumulativo e o Custo da Dívida e seu impacto relativo na associação de fluxo de caixa com custo de capital. Os dados trimestrais utilizados para esta pesquisa são de empresas de capital aberto da Jordânia e de países europeus, de 2009 a 2018. Este estudo contribui para a literatura, pois fornece evidências sobre a associação relativa de ganhos e fluxos de caixa com o custo da dívida e retorno das ações. Também somos os primeiros a considerar qualquer efeito de liquidez de mercado nessa associação.
Os resultados mostram um efeito positivo do fluxo de caixa das operações no retorno do preço das ações. Também mostra uma associação negativa e uma influência mais significativa do fluxo de caixa das operações do que o lucro líquido no custo da dívida, reduzindo-o. Além disso, o documento também mostra que o fluxo de caixa das operações tende a influenciar o retorno anormal acumulado e o custo da dívida de uma maneira melhor na Jordânia (um mercado menos líquido) do que no mercado europeu mais desenvolvido.<br>We investigate how the Cash Flow from Operations affects both the Stock Price Return and the Cost of Debt and compare the relative effect of Cash Flow versus Net Income on both costs of financing. This paper also compares the liquidity between STOXX Europe 600 and Amman stock exchange 100 (ASE100) indexes using four measures, Cash Flow from Operations, Market Adjusted Return, Cumulative Abnormal Return, and the Cost of Debt and its relative impact on Cash flow association with cost of capital. The quarterly data used for this research comes from publicly listed firms from Jordan and European countries, from 2009 through 2018. This study contributes to literature since it provides evidence on the relative association of Earnings and cash flows with cost of debt and stock returns. We are also the first to consider any market liquidity effect on this association.
The results show a positive effect of Cash Flow from Operations on Stock Price Returns. It also shows a negative association and a more significant influence from Cash Flow from Operations than Net Income on the Cost of Debt, by reducing it. Furthermore, the paper also shows Cash Flow from Operations tend to influence the Cumulative Abnormal Return and the Cost of Debt in a better way in Jordan (a less liquid market) than in the more developed European market.<br>info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersion

The literature search methods are described, which were subsequently applied to the actual calculations on the basis of which were compiled cash flows of investment, determined discount rate calculations performed indicators selected from among the methods of static and dynamic. Was subsequently identified and assessed the risks associated with an investment by using Monte Carlo simulation. The conclusion of this work the company receives a recommendation whether or not to implement the project.

The thesis deals with an investment project of reconstruction and operation of bakery Anežka in Palačov. The objective of the project is to evaluate the economic efficiency of the business plan. The thesis focuses on all costs and revenues which flow from the project throughout its working life, and on cash flow in individual years. At the end of the thesis, sensitivity analysis and risk assessment have been assessed, and several variations of the course of the projects, which can occur with regard to the likelihood of risk, have been created. The effects of these risks are compared by using the index indicators of profitability and net present value in the last chapter.

This dissertation deals with selected areas within capital budgeting theory and practice. The first part is focused on possibilities how to improve traditional financial metrics as net present value and internal rate of return by using graphical tools for their interpretation. The main practical problem can be considered not the methodology itself, but the inability to predict future cash flows correctly. The special attention is paid to depreciation in connection with Czech accounting and tax legislation and its influence on capital decisions. The second part of the dissertation concentrates on real option analysis. The crucial difference between net present value and real options analysis is in how these methods deal with the risk. Mathematical approach is used to derive how the volatility and other parameters affect the theoretical value of an investment determined by real option. The more volatile the future cash flows are the higher theoretical value of the real option should be. Nevertheless, there are some exceptions that are analysed in this paper. In final chapter, total cost of ownership and real option analysis are used to evaluate option to switch from on-premise IT solution to cloud computing.

This paper has studied the relationship between free cash flow & debt with profitability of the Nordic Nasdaq large cap for the period of 2012-1017. Population of the study consists of 223 Nordic companies listed in Nasdaq. From this population a sample of 100 companies from different sectors have been chosen by random sampling, but the sample does not include financial institutions because the way these kinds of institutions are financing differ from companies in other sectors. Data has been collected from Eikon program which provides financial information about the listed companies around the world based on the company's audited financial statements. validity and reliability of the data have been checked to make sure the data are not wrong. In this study, free cash flow, debt to equity ratio & debt ratio are considered as independent variables and profitability of the firm has been considered as dependent variable. In addition, diversity of the companies based on the countries they are established in is considered as dummy variable. Profitability of the firms have been measured by return on asset. The research philosophy is positivism and the research approach is deductive. Based on a quantitative research in which secondary data has been analyzed by running the Pearson correlation analysis and regression analysis. Result of the study revealed that; free cash flow has a positive effect on profitability of the Nordic Nasdaq large cap. In addition, the result of study showed that; debt ratio has negative effect on profitability of the targeted firms. But, the result showed that; the debt to equity ratio does not affect profitability of the firms. The result of running dummy variable revealed that; companies in Finland have 2,3 % lower return on assets compared with the companies located in Denmark. Also, the companies established in Sweden have a 2,3 % lower return on assets compared with Denmark.

This thesis consists of three empirical essays studying the capital market implications of the accounting for R&D costs. The first empirical study (Chapter 2) re-visits the debate over the positive R&D-returns relation. The second empirical study (Chapter 3) examines the risk relevance of current R&D accounting. The third empirical study (Chapter 4) explores the joint impact of R&D intensity and competition on the relative relevance of the idiosyncratic part of earnings. Prior research argues that the positive relation between current R&D activity and future returns is evidence of mispricing, a compensation for risk inherent in R&D or a transformation of the value/growth anomaly. The first empirical study contributes to this debate by taking into account the link between R&D activity, equity duration and systematic risk. This link motivates us to employ Campbell and Vuolteenaho (2004)'s intertemporal asset pricing model (ICAPM) which accommodates stochastic discount rates and investors' intertemporal preferences. The results support a risk based explanation; R&D intensive firms are exposed to higher discount rate risk. Hedge portfolio strategies show that the mispricing explanations is not economically significant. The second empirical study contributes to prior research on the value relevance of financial reporting information on R&D, by proposing an alternative approach which relies on a return variance decomposition model. We find that R&D intensity has a significant influence on market participants' revisions of expectations regarding future discount rates (or, discount rate news) and future cash flows (or, cash flow news), thereby driving returns variance. We extend this investigation to assess the risk relevance of this information by means of its influence on the sensitivity of cash flow and discount rate news to the market news. Our findings suggest R&D intensity is associated with significant variation in the sensitivity of cash flow news to the market news which implies that financial reporting information on R&D is risk relevant. Interestingly, we do not establish a similar pattern with respect to the sensitivity of discount news to the market news which may dismiss the impact of sentiment in stock returns of R&D intensive firms. The third empirical study examines the effect of financial reporting information on R&D to the value relevance of common and idiosyncratic earnings. More specifically, we investigate the value relevance of common and idiosyncratic earnings through an extension of the Vuolteenaho (2002) model which decomposes return variance into its discount rate, idiosyncratic and common cash flow news. We demonstrate that the relative importance of idiosyncratic over common cash flow news in explaining return variance increases with firm-level R&D intensity. Extending this analysis, we find that this relation varies with the level of R&D investment concentration in the industry. Those results indicate that the market perceives that more pronounced R&D activity leads to outcomes that enable the firm to differentiate itself from its rivals. However, our results also suggest that the market perceives that this relation depends upon the underlying economics of the industry where the firm operates.

The diploma thesis deals with the effectiveness of chosen fundamental analysis valuation methods on a sample of stocks. The sample consists of stocks traded on the Prague Stock Exchange and on the New York Stock Exchange. The Czech part of the sample consists of stocks of ČEZ, Erste Group Bank, Komerční banka, Philip Morris ČR and Telefónica O2. The American part of the sample includes stocks of Coca Cola, General Electric, Intel, Southern Company and Bank of America. These stocks are valued by dividend discount models and cash-flow models stepwise to the end of the years 2005 and 2006. As regards the dividend models, the Gordon model, the three-stage model and the H-model are applied whereas within the cash-flow models the DCF equity method was chosen. The effectiveness of the valuation process was subsequently tested over the course of three years by comparing the particular stock returns and the returns of the market portfolio represented by market index. The evaluation of effectiveness is then done in terms of the absolute, the relative and the portfolio effectiveness.

The cost of mining companies listed on the Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) have not been immune to inflationary pressures. Increasing cost pressures, lower grades, and reduced electricity supply imply that management will have to apply rigorous cost saving measures to mitigate the effect on profits. One such measure is value based management (VBM). VBM is a powerful management framework with the aim to focus all managerial processes on shareholder wealth creation. It therefore encourages all staff levels within the organisation to focus on value creation. Various metrics have been developed to measure the value creation process within the organisation. Discounted cash flow to the present value at the weighted average cost of capital lies at the heart of these metrics. Through the use of value mapping, underlying value drivers are linked to the overall strategy of value creation. While value-based management is used to increase shareholder value, one of the serious drawbacks is the short-term focus on immediate results to the detriment of long-term sustainable competitive advantage. A quantitative study was done on the mining sector to determine if investors can use productivity as a value based management measurement to predict share price movement. The results from this study indicate that productivity measures do not influence share price. Productivity is good for determining shareholder value, but not adequate for determining stock performance. Even though it was found that investors do not rely on productivity measures, companies should still focus on creating value for the shareholders. Moreover, this part also includes the criteria of the investment decision-making and static as well as dynamic methods of the investment evaluation. Afterwards, the specifics of doing business in healthcare are presented with special emphasis on dental medicine and the differences from other businesses. The practical part presents the business plan for setting up the new dental practise especially with focus on economic aspects of the project as well as on general feasibility. To conclude, I found that the investment according to the net present value is profitable and I recommend setting up a new dental practice in the city centre.

В Україні в умовах інфляції, нестабільної політичної ситуації, постійних змін в законодавстві і кризи неплатежів управління грошовими потоками є найбільш актуальним завданням в управлінні фінансами. Підвищення ефективності фінансового управління є основним фактором добробуту компанії. Ефективне функціонування підприємств у значній мірі обумовлене станом його грошових потоків, оскільки саме вони визначають платоспроможність підприємств та ліквідність балансу. Підприємство, що за результатами звітного періоду отримало прибуток може виявитися неплатоспроможним через нестачу грошових коштів та потенційних джерел швидкого самофінансування. У такому випадку керівництво підприємства ризикує втратити можливість самостійно приймати рішення і відтепер його долю починають вирішувати зовнішні структури, наприклад, кредитор, з яким не розрахувалось підприємство, або банк, позика якого лишилася неповернутою. А тому в умовах ринкової економіки все більшого значення набуває підвищення ефективності управління грошовими потоками підприємств як запорука не тільки виживання, але і їх стабільного функціонування. Необхідність подальшого дослідження та поглиблення теоретичних, методичних і прикладних аспектів організаційно-методичного забезпечення аналізу ефективності грошових потоків визначає актуальність дослідження. Метою написання кваліфікаційної роботи є удосконалення теоретичних та практичних основ управління грошовими потоками виробничого підприємства. Об’єктом дослідження є економічні відносини, що виникають на підприємстві в процесі управління його грошовими потоками. Предметом дослідження виступає механізм управління грошовими потоками на прикладі корпорації Roshen. Теоретичну основу дослідження становить сукупність загальнонаукових методів та ряд спеціальних методів економічних досліджень: історичний метод, метод порівняння (у теоретичній частині – перший розділ роботи), метод дослідження, методи аналізу (у другому розділі роботи при оцінці та аналізі ефективності грошових потоків підприємства). Інформаційну базу дослідження становлять наукова література, періодичні видання, нормативні акти та закони, дані про результати фінансовогосподарської діяльності корпорації Roshen. Практичне значення одержаних результатів полягає у тому, що вони можуть бути використані для побудови більш досконалої системи управління грошовими потоками на підприємствах України.<br>В современных условиях хозяйствования большинство предприятий испытывают недостаток финансовых ресурсов. Актуальным становится вопрос самофинансирования. Управление денежными потоками является одним из важнейших аспектов финансового менеджмента, поскольку денежные средства являются наиболее ликвидными активами предприятия, способными легко трансформироваться в любой другой вид активов. В Украине в условиях инфляции, нестабильной политической ситуации, постоянных изменений в законодательстве и кризиса неплатежей управление денежными потоками является наиболее актуальной задачей в управлении финансами. Повышение эффективности финансового управления является основным фактором благосостояния компании. Эффективное функционирование предприятий в значительной степени обусловлено состоянием его денежных потоков, поскольку именно они определяют платежеспособность предприятий и ликвидность баланса. Предприятие, по результатам отчетного периода получило прибыль может оказаться неплатежеспособным из-за недостатка денежных средств и потенциальных источников быстрого самофинансирования. В таком случае руководство предприятия рискует потерять возможность самостоятельно принимать решения и отныне его судьбу начинают решать внешние структуры, например, кредитор, с которым не рассчиталось предприятие, или банк, заем которого осталась невозвращенной. Поэтому в условиях рыночной экономики все большее значение приобретает повышение эффективности управления денежными потоками предприятий как залог не только выживания, но и их стабильного функционирования. Необходимость дальнейшего исследования и углубления теоретических, методических и прикладных аспектов организационно-методического обеспечения анализа эффективности денежных потоков определяет актуальность исследования. Целью написания квалификационной работы является совершенствование теоретических и практических основ управления денежными потоками производственного предприятия. Объектом исследования являются экономические отношения, возникающие на предприятии в процессе управления его денежными потоками. Предметом исследования выступает механизм управления денежными потоками на примере корпорации Roshen. Теоретическую основу исследования составляет совокупность общенаучных методов и ряд специальных методов экономических исследований: исторический метод, метод сравнения (в теоретической части - первый раздел работы), метод исследования, методы анализа (во втором разделе работы при оценке и анализе эффективности денежных потоков предприятия). Практическое значение полученных результатов заключается в том, что они могут быть использованы для построения более совершенной системы управления денежными потоками на предприятиях Украины.<br>In today's economic environment, most businesses experience a lack of financial resources. The question of self-financing is urgent. Cash flow management is one of the most important aspects of financial management, as cash is the most liquid asset of an entity that can easily be transformed into any other type of assets. In Ukraine, in the context of inflation, unstable political situation, constant changes in legislation and the crisis of non-payment, cash flow management is the most urgent task in financial management. Improving the effectiveness of financial management is a major factor in the well-being of the company. The effective functioning of enterprises is largely conditioned by the state of its cash flows, since they determine the solvency of the enterprises and the liquidity of the balance sheet. An enterprise that, as a result of the reporting period, has made a profit may be insolvent due to lack of cash and potential sources of rapid self-financing. In this case, the management of the company risks losing the ability to make their own decisions and from now on, its fate begins to decide on external structures, for example, a lender, with whom the company did not pay off, or a bank whose loan remained outstanding. Therefore, in a market economy, it is becoming increasingly important to improve the efficiency of cash flow management of enterprises as a guarantee not only of survival but also of their stable functioning. The need for further research and deepening of theoretical, methodological and applied aspects of organizational and methodological support for the analysis of cash flow efficiency determines the relevance of the study. The purpose of writing a qualification paper is to improve the theoretical and practical foundations of managing the cash flows of a manufacturing enterprise. The object of study is the economic relations that arise in the enterprise in the process of managing its cash flows. The subject of the study is the mechanism of cash flow management on the example of Roshen Corporation. The theoretical basis of the study is a set of general scientific methods and a number of special methods of economic research: historical method, method of comparison (in the theoretical part - the first section of work), research method, methods of analysis (in the second section of work in the evaluation and analysis of the efficiency of cash flows of the enterprise). The research database is composed of scientific literature, periodicals, regulations and laws, data on the financial performance of Roshen Corporation. The practical significance of the results is that they can be used to build a more sophisticated cash flow management system at Ukrainian enterprises.

In the last half century, the aerospace industry has seen a dramatic paradigm shift from a focus on performance-at-any-cost to product economics and value. The steady increase in product requirements, complexity and global competition has driven aircraft manufacturers to seek broad portfolios of advanced technologies. The development costs and cycle times of these technologies vary widely, and the resulting design environment is one where decisions must be made under substantial uncertainty. Modeling and simulation have recently become the standard practice for addressing these issues; detailed simulations and explorations of candidate future states of these systems help reduce a complex design problem into a comprehensible, manageable form where decision factors are prioritized. While there are still fundamental criticisms about using modeling and simulation, the emerging challenge becomes ``How do you best configure uncertainty analyses and the information they produce to address real world problems?”
One such analysis approach was developed in this thesis by structuring the input, models, and output to answer questions about the risk and economic impact of technology decisions in future aircraft programs. Unlike other methods, this method placed emphasis on the uncertainty in the cumulative cashflow space as the integrator of economic viability. From this perspective, it then focused on exploration of the design and technology space to tailor the business case and its associated risk in the cash flow dimension. The methodology is called CASSANDRA and is intended to be executed by a program manager of a manufacturer working of the development of future concepts. The program manager has the ability to control design elements as well as the new technology allocation on that aircraft. She is also responsible for the elicitation of the uncertainty in those dimensions within control as well as the external scenarios (that are out of program control). The methodology was applied on a future single-aisle 150 passenger aircraft design.
The overall methodology is compared to existing approaches and is shown to identify more economically robust design decisions under a set of at-risk program scenarios. Additionally, a set of metrics in the uncertain cumulative cashflow space were developed to assist the methodology user in the identification, evaluation, and selection of design and technology. These metrics are compared to alternate approaches and are shown to better identify risk efficient design and technology selections.
At the modeling level, an approach is given to estimate the production quantity based on an enhanced Overall Evaluation Criterion method that captures the competitive advantage of the aircraft design. This model was needed as the assumption of production quantity is highly influential to the business case risk. Finally, the research explored the capacity to generate risk mitigation strategies in to two analysis configurations: when available data and simulation capacity are abundant, and when they are sparse or incomplete. The first configuration leverages structured filtration of Monte Carlo simulation results. The allocation of design and technology risk is then identified on the Pareto Frontier. The second configuration identifies the direction of robust risk mitigation based on the available data and limited simulation ability. It leverages a linearized approximation of the cashflow metrics and identifies the direction of allocation using the Jacobian matrix and its inversion.

This diploma thesis deals with the evaluation of economic efficiency of investment projects in transport infrastructure in the Czech Republic. The evaluation of road and motorway infrastructure projects is carried out according to the methodological documents of the Ministry of Transport, the State Fund for Transport Infrastructure and the Road and Motorway Directorate of the Czech Republic. As changes in methodological procedures have taken place in recent years, the diploma thesis deals with the resulting values of economic efficiency indicators, especially with net present value. The thesis analyzes the basic calculation formula for the evaluation of road and motorway infrastructure, which is an integral part of the evaluation of road projects. There are also described fundamental methodological changes regarding, for example, the calculation of the residual value of the project at the end of the reference period or the change in the discount rate. The changes are applied to a case study of a specific section of the Czech transport industry. It evaluates their impact on the final value of the critical indicator of economic efficiency, which is the net present value.

O trabalho tem por objetivo principal mensurar o risco financeiro da produção de tomate de mesa em duas importantes regiões produtoras do Brasil - Caçador (SC) e Mogi Guaçu (SP), representando a safra de verão e inverno respectivamente. Como objetivos específicos têm-se: descrever as propriedades tomaticultoras \"típicas\" de cada região e mensurar seu custo de implantação; compor o fluxo de caixa da produção para analisar a viabilidade econômica de cada propriedade \"típica\" e mensurar o risco econômico do negócio. Assim, fez-se uma análise determinista das variáveis que compõem o fluxo de caixa de cada região, entre 2006 e 2012, e dos indicadores de viabilidade econômica - Valor Presente Líquido (VPL) e Taxa Interna de Retorno (TIR). A descrição das propriedades \"típicas\" e o levantado do investimento inicial para a produção foi realizado por meio da metodologia do Painel. Para mensuração do risco financeiro realizou-se uma análise probabilística, com o cálculo do quantil negativo da distribuição de probabilidade das receitas líquidas operacionais (RLO) simuladas por Monte Carlo. O risco econômico do negócio em cada uma das propriedades típicas foi calculado pela probabilidade do VPL ser negativo. Por meio do Painel, constataram-se três modelos distintos de produção de tomate de mesa nas regiões pesquisadas. Em Caçador foi diagnosticado propriedades de pequena escala de produção (1,25 ha), cujo investimento foi de R$ 91.700,3 ha-1, e de grande escala (27,27ha), com investimento de R$ 52.354,5 ha-1. Em Mogi Guaçu a propriedade \"típica\" foi de média escala (15 ha) e o investimento totalizou R$ 42.789,2 ha-1. Comparando o fluxo de caixa das duas regiões entre 2006 e 2012, a soma das RLO\'s foi positiva, mas houve meses consecutivos de receita negativa. Este cenário pode levar o produtor ao endividamento e inviabilizar seu negócio no longo prazo. Quanto aos indicadores de viabilidade econômica (VPL e TIR), todas as propriedades típicas se mostraram viáveis entre 2006 e 2012. Porém, o risco financeiro de ambas as regiões foi elevado, 37,23% para Caçador e 32% para Mogi Guaçu. Já o risco econômico do negócio foi menor, 16,8% e 10,3% para pequena e grande escala de Caçador, respectivamente, e praticamente nulo para a média escala de Mogi Guaçu. Apesar de parecer vantajoso do ponto de vista econômico, o elevado risco financeiro mostra a importância de o tomaticultor fazer uma reserva financeira em meses de bons preços para cobrir os fluxos de caixa negativo e, assim, conseguir se manter na atividade no longo prazo.<br>The main objective of this study is to calculate the financial risk of fresh market tomato production in two important brazilian production regions - Caçador (SC) and Mogi Guaçu (SP), which represents the summer and winter harvest, respectively. The especific goals are: to characterize the \"tipical\" tomato farms in each region and to obtain their implantation cost; to compose the cash flow to analyze the economic viability of each \"tipical\" farm and to calculate the economical risk of the business. Therefore, it was carried a deterministic analysis of the cash flow variables and the economic viabiliy indicators - Net Present Value (NPV) and Internal Rate of Return (IRR) - in each region between 2006 until 2012. The \"tipical\" farm characterization and the measurement of the implantation cost was carried using the Painel methodology. The financial risk was calculated using a probabilistic analyzis, through the negative quantile of net revenues probability distribution using Monte Carlo simulation. The economic risk of business in each \"tipical\" farm was calculated using the probability of negative NPV. Through the Painel methodology it was distingueshed three tipical farms at the evaluated regions. At Caçador it was found small scale properties (1,25 ha), which the investment was R$ 91.700,3 ha-1, and large scale (27,27ha), with investment of R$ 52.354,5 ha-1. At Mogi Guaçu the tipical farm is a median scale property (15 ha) with an investment of R$ 42.789,2 ha-1. Regarding the cash flow analyses, the average of net revenues is positive, but there was consecutive negative net revenues for month. This cenarium can lead the producer to debt which might threaten the busines at long term. Regarding economic viability indicators, all tipical farms were viable during 2006 until 2012. But the financial risk was high in both regions, 37,23% at Caçador and 32% at Mogi Guaçu. The economic risk of busines was lower, 16,8% and 10,3% for the Caçador small and large scale property, respectively, and close to zero at the Mogi Guaçu median scale property. Despite the good economical results, the high financial risk reveles the importance of saving revenue during good prices periods to cover negative cash flow months and so continue busines at long term.

The four pillars of project valuation and management act as a framework to guide this investigation on university conference center financing. The overall research question of this study asks how university officials make conference center investment decisions based on the four pillars of project valuation and management.
To answer the research questions posed by this investigation, this study adopted a multiple case study approach, in which officials at five universities were interviewed about their universities' conference center projects. Interviews with two executive-level personnel at each university along with multiple sources of written documentation provided the basis for conclusions.
Evidence from the data collection phase of this project indicates that universities follow similar procedures for financing their conference centers. For instance, they take advantage of low-cost, tax-exempt debt and private contributions to fund these capital projects. In addition, they place little emphasis on sensitivity analyses for cash flow projections and ignore the opportunity costs of capital. University conference center financing practices with respect to the four pillars of project valuation and management are not consistent with the recommendations set forth by traditional financial principles. This study concludes that universities should improve their strategic thinking and pay more attention to the four pillars in order to increase the viability of their conference center businesses.<br>Master of Science

Primary data was collected through semi-structured interviews and a questionnaire survey.</p><p>Theoretical: The theoretical frame of reference is based upon the paper’s dependent variable, i.e. the role of the appraiser. The appraiser is dependent of following undependent variables: comparative valuation of company, situations of valuation, relevant information, the processes of valuation, the methods of valuation and common custom valuation.</p><p>Empiricism: Material from the interviews and the questionnaire survey shows how the professional category respectively acts when they valuate a company and why and which valuation method is used. According to the interviews the financial analysts often uses comparative evaluation, the auditor uses the cash flow analysis while the lawyer chooses the net asset value method.</p><p>Conclusion: The result of this paper considerable agrees to earlier research within the field. The main underlying factor for the appraiser to choose a certain evaluation method is simply depending on the actual situation. Os estudos dos métodos de avaliação de projectos de investimento tiveram o seu início durante os anos 60 nos Estados Unidos. A evolução nesta área tem sido crescente, cada vez mais são utilizados pelas empresas métodos mais sofisticados, que actualizam os fluxos de caixa. Contudo, persiste ainda a preocupação de resolver a discrepância entre a teoria e a prática, pois os critérios apresentados teoricamente como sendo os mais adequados, como a TIR e o VAL, nem sempre são os mais usados pelas empresas. Da interpretação e análise de diversos trabalhos de investigações elaborados nesta área, em países como EUA, Reino Unido, Canada, entre outros, surge o interesse de efectuar uma pesquisa com abordagem diferente, recaindo sobre as maiores empresas de um pequeno país como Cabo Verde. Para a realidade de Cabo Verde não são conhecidos trabalhos de investigação nesta área. O objectivo deste projecto de investigação é conhecer o processo de investimento e os vários critérios utilizados na tomada de decisão, assim como o estudo das variáveis e factores que influenciam a decisão de investimento em Cabo Verde. 1 Para elaboração deste estudo foram enviados questionários a uma amostra de 126 empresas de Cabo Verde, tendo-se obtido um total de 51 respostas válidas, equivalendo a uma taxa de resposta de 40,47%. A metodologia incluí a análise dos questionários através da determinação de estatísticas descritivas e da estimação do modelo de regressão logistic. As empresas na sua generalidade, consideram o investimento realizado de acordo com as necessidades das mesmas e concordam em afirmar que os determinantes mais favoráveis ao investimento são as condições do mercado e de financiamento, exceptuando as perspectivas em relação às exportações que ficaram classificadas como sendo o factor mais desfavorável ao investimento. Os critérios ditos sofisticados são os mais utilizados em Cabo Verde. O Rácio Custo Beneficio (RCB) é o principal critério de análise, enquanto que a Taxa Interna de Rendibilidade (TIR) é o mais usado como critério auxiliar. O Período de Recuperação (PR) também tem uma grande expressividade como critério secundário. Os critérios não financeiros são importantes no processo de avaliação. A análise multivariada sugere que a decisão de avaliar ou não antes da sua implementação é explicada por diversas variáveis, como por exemplo o volume do negócio, a dimensão da empresa, o nível de investimento, entre outras.
/*** Abstract - The studies of the evaluation methods of investment projects started during the 60's in the United States of America. The evolution in this area has been increasing; enterprises are using more and more sophisticated methods that update their cash flow. However there is still the need to solve the difference between the theory and practice, for the criterions presented theoretically as the most appropriate, such as IRR and NPV, are not always the most used by enterprises. From the interpretation an analysis of the various investigation works elaborated in this area, in countries such as United States of America, United Kingdom and Canada, among others, comes the need of a research with a new approach about the biggest enterprises of a small country as Cape Verde. When it comes to Cape Verde realty there are no knowledge of investigations in this area. This investigation project intends to understand the investments process and the various criterions used in the decisions taken, and also to know the variables and factors of influence. To make this research possible questionnaires were sent to a sample of 126 enterprises in Cape Verde, from this sample 51 valid responses were obtained performing 40,47% of the response rate. The methodology includes the analysis of the questionnaires trough descriptive statistics and the estimation of the logistic regression model. The results related to the descriptive analyses suggest that in general enterprises, consider the investment realized with their needs, and agreed in stating that more favorable, determinant of investment is the market and financial states, excepting the perspectives about the exports relation that was classified like a more unfavorable determinant of investment. The so-called sophisticated criterions are the most used in Cape Verde. The Cost/Benefit Ratio (CBR) is the primary criterion of analyses, while Internal Rate of of Retum (IRR) it's the most used as a support. The PayBack also has a major significance as a support criterion. The non-financial criterion is very important on the evaluation process. The multivariate analyses suggest that the decision of evaluation or non evaluation before the implementation is explained with several variables, as for example, the volume of the business, the enterprise dimension, the level of investment, and others.

Ainda mais, porque é um tema onde a informação existente é relativamente recente e comporta por isso bastantes dúvidas sobre quais os melhores modelos a aplicar.
A questão de investigação abordada é a performance contabilística das Parcerias Público Privadas, especificamente as concessões sem custos para os utilizadores?. Os métodos utilizados para responder à questão são os métodos tradicionais e os métodos de criação de valor. Os resultados obtidos em ambos os métodos evidenciam uma melhoria significativa, em particular nos últimos três anos analisados. Período em que o Estado iniciou os pagamentos às concessionárias. Conclui-se que neste tipo de parcerias, os intervenientes por vezes não partilham os riscos, como seria de esperar. Visto que, nem sempre o desenvolvimento alcança os objetivos pretendidos, esquecendo-se que uma Parceria Público-Privada envolve uma relação de troca entre o setor público e privado, onde os benefícios e responsabilidades de cada interveniente deveriam ser partilhados.<br>The absence of performance studies for Public-Private Partnerships reveals itself the reason to write this study. Moreover, because this is a subject of complex analysis, where the existing information is relatively recent and still holds many doubts about the best model to apply. The question made is whether the use of Public-Private Partnerships really presents a good performance for the public sector? That is, if the relationship between the state and the private sector represents or not a gain in creating value (Value for Money). The approach taken to assess the performance of concessions under ?no costs to the users?, was conducted thought the traditional methods as well as thought methods of creating value. The results obtained with both methods show an improved performance, especially in the last three years. The justification has to do with the fact that, since then, the state has begun payments to concessionaries. It is concluded that in this type of partnerships, the participants sometimes do not share the risks, as would be expected. This is because its development not always reaches the intended objectives, forgetting that a Public-Private Partnerships involves an exchange between the public and the private sector, where the benefits and responsibilities of each participant are shared.

The theoretical part summarizes the basic analysis, the stages of the investment decision, the parameters entering into the investment evaluation and methods of their evaluation. In its practical part, the thesis initially presents the analysis of the external environment and inner potential of the company performed at first. Subsequently the investment project including its input parameters is introduced and an evaluation of the investment on the basis of defined methods is performed. The conclusion of the practical part is devoted to the sensitivity analysis and overall assessment of the investment plan.

Theoretical part of the thesis involves summary of basic analysis, phases of investment decision process, aspects affecting the investment evaluation and dynamic methods of evaluation.Beginning of practical part is an introduction of the analyzed company followed by financial analysis which determines its economic health. After introduction of investment into the new technology of chemical nickel plating including its inputs, the investment evaluating methods are performed. At the end there is a single-factor sensitivity analysis. The goal of the thesis is to provide recommendations to the management of SEVEN-K s.r.o. company in terms of realizing or rejecting the investment.

The design of hydropower projects requires a comprehensive planning process in order to achieve the objective to maximise exploitation of the existing hydropower potential as well as future revenues of the plant. For this purpose and to satisfy approval requirements for a complex hydropower development, it is imperative at planning stage, that the conceptual development contemplates a wide range of influencing design factors and ensures appropriate consideration of all related aspects. Since the majority of technical and economical parameters that are required for detailed and final design cannot be precisely determined at early planning stages, crucial design parameters such as design discharge and hydraulic head have to be examined through an extensive optimisation process. One disadvantage inherent to commonly used deterministic analysis is the lack of objectivity for the selection of input parameters. Moreover, it cannot be ensured that the entire existing parameter ranges and all possible parameter combinations are covered. Probabilistic methods utilise discrete probability distributions or parameter input ranges to cover the entire range of uncertainties resulting from an information deficit during the planning phase and integrate them into the optimisation by means of an alternative calculation method. The investigated method assists with the mathematical assessment and integration of uncertainties into the rational economic appraisal of complex infrastructure projects. The assessment includes an exemplary verification to what extent the Random Set Theory can be utilised for the determination of input parameters that are relevant for the optimisation of hydropower projects and evaluates possible improvements with respect to accuracy and suitability of the calculated results<br>Die Auslegung von Wasserkraftanlagen stellt einen komplexen Planungsablauf dar, mit dem Ziel das vorhandene Wasserkraftpotential möglichst vollständig zu nutzen und künftige, wirtschaftliche Erträge der Kraftanlage zu maximieren. Um dies zu erreichen und gleichzeitig die Genehmigungsfähigkeit eines komplexen Wasserkraftprojektes zu gewährleisten, besteht hierbei die zwingende Notwendigkeit eine Vielzahl für die Konzepterstellung relevanter Einflussfaktoren zu erfassen und in der Projektplanungsphase hinreichend zu berücksichtigen. In frühen Planungsstadien kann ein Großteil der für die Detailplanung entscheidenden, technischen und wirtschaftlichen Parameter meist nicht exakt bestimmt werden, wodurch maßgebende Designparameter der Wasserkraftanlage, wie Durchfluss und Fallhöhe, einen umfangreichen Optimierungsprozess durchlaufen müssen. Ein Nachteil gebräuchlicher, deterministischer Berechnungsansätze besteht in der zumeist unzureichenden Objektivität bei der Bestimmung der Eingangsparameter, sowie der Tatsache, dass die Erfassung der Parameter in ihrer gesamten Streubreite und sämtlichen, maßgeblichen Parameterkombinationen nicht sichergestellt werden kann. Probabilistische Verfahren verwenden Eingangsparameter in ihrer statistischen Verteilung bzw. in Form von Bandbreiten, mit dem Ziel, Unsicherheiten, die sich aus dem in der Planungsphase unausweichlichen Informationsdefizit ergeben, durch Anwendung einer alternativen Berechnungsmethode mathematisch zu erfassen und in die Berechnung einzubeziehen. Die untersuchte Vorgehensweise trägt dazu bei, aus einem Informationsdefizit resultierende Unschärfen bei der wirtschaftlichen Beurteilung komplexer Infrastrukturprojekte objektiv bzw. mathematisch zu erfassen und in den Planungsprozess einzubeziehen. Es erfolgt eine Beurteilung und beispielhafte Überprüfung, inwiefern die Random Set Methode bei Bestimmung der für den Optimierungsprozess von Wasserkraftanlagen relevanten Eingangsgrößen Anwendung finden kann und in wieweit sich hieraus Verbesserungen hinsichtlich Genauigkeit und Aussagekraft der Berechnungsergebnisse ergeben

Syfte-Utforska om det finns ett samband mellan sportslig framgång, i form av tabellplacering, och utvalda nyckeltal.
