Abstract:
Context.  The problem of optimal control of flow parameters of a conveyor-type transport system containing sections with reversible conveyors is considered. The object of the stady was an analytical model of a reversible transport conveyor for synthesizing an algorithm for optimal control of the flow parameters of a reversible transport conveyor.   Objective.  The goal of the work is to develop a synthesis technique for an algorithm for optimal control of the flow parameters of a reversible transport conveyor based on an analytical model of a conveyor section containing a transport delay.  Method. An analytical model of a reversible conveyor has been developed for the case of a constant speed of a conveyor belt, which makes it possible to determine the values of the output flows from the reverse section with known values of material flows coming to the input of the conveyor section.  To build a model of the reversible section of the conveyor, an analytical model of the section of the  conveyor in partial derivatives, containing the transport delay, was used. When constructing the model, the assumption was made about the instantaneous switching of the direction of movement of the conveyor belt, and it is also assumed that the interval between switching the direction of the belt speed exceeds the values of the transport delay for the conveyor section. To synthesize an algorithm for optimal control of the reversible conveyor, a control quality criterion was introduced. The formulation of the problem of optimal control of the flow parameters of the reversible conveyor is given, based on the Pontryagin maximum principle. The Hamilton function for the controlled system is written, taking into account the criterion of the quality of control of the reversible conveyor. A technique for synthesizing an algorithm for optimal control of the material output flow of a section of a reversible conveyor is demonstrated. The conditions for switching the direction of the speed of the conveyor belt are determined.   Results. The developed model of the reversible conveyor section is used to synthesize an algorithm for optimal control of the  material output flow of the reversible conveyor section.  Conclusions. A method for the synthesis of algorithms for optimal control of the flow parameters of a transport system with sections containing reversible conveyors has been developed. The construction of an analytical model opens up new perspectives for the design of transport conveyor control algorithms, which can be used to reduce the specific energy costs for material transportation in the mining industry.

Abstract:
The paper considers the design parameters that must be provided during the practical implementation of small-sized reversible vibratory conveyors with an electromagnetic drive. The proposed conveyor is developed on the basis of a classical two-mass oscillatory system. Two oscillating masses are connected by symmetrically assembled round-shaped rods. In order to avoid angular (torsional) oscillations of the vibratory conveyor, the geometrical centers of mass and stiffness of the spring system are aligned at the same point. The analysis of kinematic characteristics is performed by means of numerical solving of the system of nonlinear Lagrange-Maxwell differential equations. The influence of the phase shift angle between the electromagnetic excitation of horizontal and vertical oscillations on the trajectories of the mass center of the conveying member is analyzed. The first two frequencies and forms of natural oscillations of the vibratory conveyor are determined for estimating its dynamic characteristics. The novelty of this study lies in the development of a new design of a vibratory conveyor with a controllable independent electromagnetic drive that provides the conveying reversibility and efficiency.

Abstract:
PT Akashi Wahana Indonesia is an automotive manufacturer that specializes in producing steering gear assemblies. The steering gear assembly process involves assembling the components of the steering gear into a single unit. A problem related to cycle time has been identified at a process position on the D74 steering gear assembly line. The cause of this issue is the manual shutter used to transfer assembly results between process positions, which requires manual intervention by operators, resulting in non-value-added time and unnecessary movement. The proposed solution to this problem is to design and development a PLC based semi-automatic reversible shutter conveyor. This shutter conveyor will serve as a material handling tool to change the transfer system between process positions. Operators can initiate the transfer to the next position by simply pressing the start button. The research methodology encompasses problem identification, literature review, design, production, and testing. The analysis includes calculations of stress and strain on the base slider, and percentage comparisons of material handling process time before and after improvement. Testing will be conducted through experiments on material handling process time. The result of this research is the implementation of a PLC-based semi-automatic reversible shutter conveyor in the D74 steering assembly line, which has achieved a 69.1% reduction in material handling process time.

Abstract. The internal and reversible mechanism of air circulation (chimney effect) throughout a porous debris accumulation acts as an efficient advective conveyor of heat, which strongly influences its thermal balance during the whole year. Ground temperature monitoring carried out at eight sites located below the timberline in western Switzerland since 1997 indicates the major role played by winter air temperature conditions in the thermal regime of low elevation talus slopes and relict rock glaciers. In contrast, both snow depth and summer air temperatures have far less influence. The temperature monitoring at these sites offers the longest time series world-wide. Borehole temperature monitoring indicates the presence and growth of permafrost at one particular site from 2004–2006, with its consequent thawing again in 2007.

Abstract:
Abstract The overturning of Hector the Convector, a tropical multicellular convective system of northern Australia that regularly overshoots into the stratosphere, is synthesized at the scale of a large-eddy simulation. The isentropic analysis offers the advantage of filtering out the reversible motions due to gravity waves and taking into account the turbulent fluxes that contribute to the vertical transport. Two key circulations are characterized: the troposphere deep overturning and the mass exchange due to the overshoots into the stratosphere. The transition from deep to very deep convection is associated with a change in the diabatic tendency inside the tallest updrafts: the latent heat release due to the formation of a large amount of icy hydrometeors exceeds the loss of energy due to mixing with the drier, colder air of the environment. In agreement with a previous study of Hector examining the properties of its two tallest updrafts, the entrainment rate exhibits a minimum during the very deep convection phase as low as 0.04 km−1. The overturning intensity corroborates the Eulerian computation of the vertical mass flux in the midtroposphere and in the lower stratosphere. It however gives a lower estimate of the flux in the upper troposphere, filtering out the reversible motions, and a larger estimate in the lower troposphere and at the tropopause, where slow vertical motions contribute significantly to the transport.

Abstract:
In the recent scenario of microelectronic industry, the reversible logic is considered as the burgeonic technology for digital circuit designing. It deals with the aim to generate digital circuits with zero power loss characteristics. Optical computing, Nanotechnology, Low power CMOS design and Digital Signal Processing (DSP) processors are leading areas of development with the concept of reversible logic. Researchers have already proposed various subsystems of the computer for the creation of low power loss devices with the help of numerous available reversible logic gates. Here in this paper, the authors have proposed a new reversible gate named as CDSM gate with 4×4 size. This CDSM gate is used to design optimized 4-bit binary comparator. The optimization is improved as compared to the existing designs based on some significant performance parameters such as total number of gates, garbage outputs generated, constant inputs and quantum cost. Comparators are widely used in various computing applications such as counters, convertor, Central Processing Unit (CPU) and control circuits etc. The comparator circuits using reversible logic can be visualized as a low power loss subsystem for the development of improved digital systems.

Abstract:
The older monoamine oxidase inhibitors (MAOIs) are mechanism-based, irreversible inhibitors of MAO; most inhibit both the A and B forms of MAO. Several of the drugs are hydrazine derivatives which have non-specific effects other than MAO inhibition. These properties convey disadvantages, which may be seen as serious, though infrequent, adverse events — the ‘cheese effect’, hepatotoxicity, amphetamine-like activity, orthostatic hypotension and anticholinergic effects. New, reversible MAOIs stem from a variety of chemical classes and are more specific in their effects, with relatively rapid onset of action, direct relationship between plasma concentration and pharmacological effect, and no prolonged carry-over phenomena.

Abstract:
‘B eta-cell failure’ is a frequently used term to describe the structural and functional inability of the cells to fulfil their metabolic responsibility. This editorial reviews the anatomy and physiology of the beta cell, and describes factors which regulate this. The authors focus on semantics, comparing the phrases ‘beta-cell failure’, ‘functional mass’, and ‘beta-cell insufficiency’. They suggest the use of ‘beta-cell insufficiency’, with descriptors such as ‘partial’ and ‘complete’, or ‘reversible’ and ‘irreversible’, to convey betacell dysfunction in type 2 diabetes. A three-phase taxonomic structure: beta-cell sufficiency, partial/reversible beta-cell insufficiency and complete/irreversible beta-cell insufficiency, is proposed as a tool to understand pathophysiology and facilitate therapeutic decision-making.

Abstract:
The temporal profile that has not been considered is the transient, or rapidly reversible, abnormality. Many diseases that produce signs or symptoms of brief duration may not produce destructive changes in cells and may occur without demonstrable histologic abnormality of the involved structures. To understand transient manifestations of disease, it is necessary to understand the physiology of the cells of the nervous system and the mechanism by which they process information. Cells in the nervous system and muscle communicate by electrical signals. Neurons have the ability to generate, conduct, transmit, and respond to electrical activity. Information is transmitted between cells by neurochemical agents that convey the signals from cell to cell. Information is integrated by the interaction of electrical activity in single cells and in groups of cells.

Abstract:
Abstract How do people shape the information they convey when they cannot rely on conventions from the language(s) they know? Silent gesture, a methodology in which hearing participants communicate using only their hands and bodies, has been a productive way to study this. Combined with learning and interaction, silent gesture provides the opportunity to simulate the emergence of artificial miniature sign languages in a laboratory setting, making it possible to closely observe how communicative strategies change and adapt as linguistic structure emerges. This chapter provides an overview of the phenomena investigated using silent gesture. By giving an in-depth example of silent gesture ‘in action’, we demonstrate how the method has been used to study the nature of reversible events, and their influence on word order. Furthermore, we evaluate options regarding stimuli presentation, participant selection, and setup details. Finally, we discuss silent gesture data analysis (manually as well as computationally).

Abstract:
Abstract The structure of the nucleosome, which was elucidated from early work on enzyme digestion patterns, neutron scatter, X-ray diffraction data, and histone— DNA crosslinking (reviewed by Van Bolde 1988), is essentially a static picture of an average structure. This is because these experimental approaches average out the heterogeneities across the largely native bulk nucleosome and chromatin samples, as well as any fluctuations in the structure over time. Most notably, the model of the nucleosome rarely includes the long N-terminal and short C-terminal ‘tails’ of the histones, which are highly dynamic and contain the sites of reversible chemical modifications associated with chromatin functions (reviewed by Bradbury 1992; also see Chapter 3). Studies of higher order structures of chromatin also hold this caveat and here the paucity of data allows for several models of the 30 nm fibril model (reviewed by Van Bolde 1988). However useful these structural models arc in understanding the packaging of chromatin, they fail to convey how chromatin structure can be flexible enough not only to accommodate the wide range of DNA sequences in the genome, but also to allow dynamic processes such as transcription and replication to take place. An insight into the dynamic nature of chromatin is essential in order to understand how chromatin can be a functional component of the active eukaryotic nucleus.

Abstract:
Abstract This chapter considers the intersections of violence/power and sexual desire in three of Yeats’s late plays—The Cat and the Moon (1926), The King of the Great Clock Tower (1935), and A Full Moon in March (1935)—with a focus on sadomasochism and what has been described as ‘the ritual exchange of power’. It contends that through theatrical representations of sadomasochistic attachments based on reversible power, Yeats’s late drama reveals the systemic failures of normative distributions of power, gender, and sexual roles, and proposes alternatives. It discusses Yeats’s unconventional relationship with sexuality, his increasing interest in corporeality, and the importance of literary representations of sadomasochism. It goes on to evaluate, from a dramaturgical approach, the potentials of the scripts to demonstrate that Yeats’s plays convey crucial messages about power, the body, and difference for contemporary audiences. These plays feature clashes between the unruly forces of seduction and the normative force of power and production. Their protagonists are defiant social outcasts, whose clash with power paradoxically earns them temporary visibility and authority. They fail to meet normative standards of bodily being, which becomes an act of resistance, since the characters representing the power of production (the Saint in The Cat and the Moon, the King in The King of the Great Clock Tower, and the Queen in A Full Moon in March) are obsessed with bodily perfection. These master–slave relationships appear as sadomasochistic mostly due to their reversibility, which also renders them an element of excitement and playfulness.

Abstract:
In the past, weight and bulk of high torque gear transmissions were determined by the emphasis on lifetime durability, manufacturability, and manufacturing cost obtainable within the stress limits of classical materials when applying the rules of classical kinematics. In contrast, the Advanced XYZ Transmission (A-XYZ™) uses neither conventional materials nor classical kinematics. Instead, for the purpose of achieving load distribution over many rolling contact “teeth”, the A-XYZ transmission conveys the required torque and speed (power) via a three-dimensional path of motion which combines simultaneous vertical rotation and precessional horizontal motion of the machine elements to achieve a dynamically balanced, reversible, coaxial input/output operation. With this intellectually challenging geometric construct plus the use of new materials, the present and future goals of obtaining lightweight gearboxes, mechanical compactness, compatibility with high-speed prime movers, such as micro-turbines and small, high rpm electric motors, have been achieved. Of course, low weight and high efficiency means more mileage per liter of fuel or KWh of energy available. The low acoustic noise (no clicking teeth) represents a high quality trademark, which all competent mechanical engineers will appreciate.
