Ginseng is a traditional medicinal herb commonly consumed world-wide owing to its unique family of saponins called ginsenosides. The absorption and bioavailability of ginsenosides mainly depend on an individual’s gastrointestinal bioconversion abilities. There is a need to improve ginseng processing to predictably increase the pharmacologically active of ginsenosides. Various types of ginseng, such as fresh, white, steamed, acid-processed, and fermented ginsengs, are available. The various ginseng processing methods produce a range ginsenoside compositions with diverse pharmacological properti

Amino acid identities for the opsins range from 90% for Rh2 to more than 95% for Rh1 and Rh4. Variation in the rate of synonymous site substitution is especially striking: the major opsin, encoded by the Rh1 locus, differs at only 26.1% of synonymous site

Abstract:
Our spectroscopic studies have shown without ambiguity that the three charge states Rh3+, Rh4+, Rh5+ are responsible at 1.06 µm for the optical absorption and charge redistribution through hole photoconductivity in rhodium doped barium titanate [1]. From this three charge state model, we solved the charge transfer equations and used the obtained results to characterize as grown samples at 1.06 µm through induced absorption and two-wave mixing experiments [2]. A major feature is that the photoexcitation cross section from Rh5+ to the valence band is about 75 times larger than the one from Rh4+.

Abstract The world energy supply continues to evolve and adapt to low carbon and sustainable sources due to energy shortage and environmental issues. As a result, the share of renewable energy sources in the energy mix sharply increases in many countries. However, wind and photovoltaic power is intermittent, and high penetration of renewable power poses high peak shaving pressure on the power system. Therefore, the peak shaving techniques for coal-fired power plant (CFPP) should be developed, aiming to decrease the adjustable minimal power load ratio. When the coal-fired power plant operates u

The Škrljevo-Rijeka railway section is part of the main international railway corridor M202 Zagreb GK-Rijeka, a part of the Mediterranean TEN-T corridor and the RH2 corridor. M203 Rijeka-Šapjane-State border line is also an integral part of the RH2 corridor. M202 is part of the EU Core Transport Network, while M203 is part of the Comprehensive Transport Network. They were both built and put into operation in 1873 and are in need for reconstruction and modernization. This paper presents the basic project features. The modernization includes the construction of the second track and the reconstru

Due to its great geological and transport position, Croatia is part of important international transport corridors and was included in the Trans-European Transport Network when it joined the European Union. The fact that Gradec - Sveti Ivan Žabno section is the first completed new line in Croatia after 50 years shows how much the railroads in Croatia need revitalization in order to increase railroad capacity, speed and safety level. The next ten years will be marked by investments in rail infrastructure projects worth an estimated 4.4 billion. Due to the large infrastructure projects, such as

Abstract Nucleate pool boiling heat transfer coefficients (HTCs) of 14 refrigerants are measured from a 19mm o.d. plain copper tube heated by a cartridge heater. All measurements are carried out in the pool temperature of 4∼25°C and in the heat flux of 10∼80kW/m2. Test results show that HTCs of R32, R125, R143a, R152a, and R410A are higher than those of R22. Especially, R32 showed the highest HTCs among all the refrigerants tested. As for R22 alternatives, HTCs of R410A are 50% higher than those of R22 while those of R407C are very similar to those of R22. It is also found that some of the pop

Abstract An experimental setup was designed and fabricated to test the flow boiling heat transfer performance of microfin tubes. Five microfin tubes were tested with pure refrigerants. Two tubes were selected for further testing with binary and ternary refrigerant mixtures. This paper reports the data for these two microfin tubes employing R22, R410A (mixture of 50% by weight of R32 and 50% of R125) and R407C (ternary mixture of 23 wt. % R32, 25 wt. % R125, and 52 wt. % R134a). A correlation scheme is presented for the heat transfer coefficient of mixtures in microfin tubes. In general, it is
