ABSTRACT: On the title page of his Rhyming Dictionary of the English Language (1775), John Walker asserts that the book contains "the whole language […] arranged according to its terminations." In the revised 1924 edition, the editor notes that despite judicious cuts to the entries, "no word has been omitted that could be of any use to the poet." The poet Marianne Moore disagreed.
