Questo lavoro illustra un’esperienza di didattica del riassunto svolta in una classe seconda di Liceo Linguistico nell’anno scolastico 2020/2021. Il modello teorico di riferimento per l’analisi del testo è quello proposto da Angela Ferrari nel libro Linguistica del testo, 2017. Il percorso è stato realizzato su tre testi di tipo informativo con lezioni settimanali di due ore, per un totale di 26 ore complessive. Il percorso è stato dedicato alla comprensione del testo di partenza, alla sua divisione secondo i concetti di “Enunciato”, “Unità Informativa”, “Movimento Testuale”, all'individuazione della frase topica/tematica, alle relazioni logiche tra Enunciati. Durante tutto il percorso gli studenti hanno scritto dei riassunti. L’obiettivo del percorso didattico era di dare agli studenti una guida per le operazioni di riassunto: scegliere le informazioni principali, capire con quale logica le varie parti e le varie informazioni del testo fossero legate tra loro, cercare di restituire il testo di partenza ristrutturandolo, evitando la procedura del “copia-incolla”. L’analisi dei riassunti finali conferma l’efficacia della proposta didattica. Summary writing during the high school biennio This paper illustrates an experience of teaching summary writing carried out in a second-year Liceo Linguistico class during the 2020/2021 school year. The theoretical reference model for text analysis is the one proposed by Angela Ferrari in the book Linguistica del testo, 2017. The course was carried out on three informational texts with weekly two-hour lessons for 26 hours in total. The course was devoted to understanding the source text, dividing it according to the concepts of “Utterance,” “Information Unit,” “Textual Movement”, identifying the topical/thematic sentence, and logical relations between Utterances. Throughout the course, students wrote summaries. The goal of the course was to give students a guide for summary operations: to choose the main information, to understand the logic connecting the various parts and the information in the text, to restate the source text by restructuring it, avoiding the “copy-paste” procedure. Analysis of the final summaries confirms the effectiveness of this teaching proposal.

Deep neural networks are one of the major classification machines in machine learning. Several Deep Neural Networks (DNNs) have been developed and evaluated in recent years in recognition tasks, such as estimating a user base and estimating their interactivity. We present the best algorithms for extracting or summarising text using a deep neural network while allowing the workers to interpret the texts from the output speech. In this work both extractive and abstractive summarisation approaches have been applied. In particular, BERT (Base, Multilingual Cased) and a deep neural network composed by CNN and GRU layers have been used in the extraction-based summarisation while the abstraction-based one has been performed by applying the GPT-2 Transformer model. We show our models achieve high scores in syntactical terms while a human evaluation is still needed to judge the coherence, consistency and unreferenced harmonicity of speech. Our proposed work outperform the state of the art results for extractive summarisation on the Australian Legal Case Report Dataset. Our paper can be viewed as further demonstrating that our model can outperform the state of the art on a variety of extractive and abstractive summarisation tasks. Note: The abstract above was not written by the author, it was generated by providing a part of thesis introduction as input text to the pre-trained GPT-2 (Small) Transformer model used in this work which has been previously fine-tuned for 4 epochs with the”NIPS 2015 Papers” dataset.

With the supervision of Professor Lerida Cisotto, the PhD student has designed and corroborated the validity of a structured test for the comprehension of a written text. The examination was addressed to students of the fifth-grade of primary school. It was decided to operate on expository texts; because of its structural complexity, expository texts allow for a throughout analysis of the logical connections among the theoretical nuclei constituting its hierarchical structure. The research aimed to put forwards innovative questions with respects to the typology and the inquired cognitive dimension, assessing its efficacy and functionality with regards to both an evaluative and a didactical perspective. The process of construction of the test started with the definition of the objectives and the methods of administration, followed by the choice and analysis of the text and a first elaboration of the relevant items, which were subsequently beta-tested with a precautionary administration to a small sample-group (two fifth-grade primary school classes). Following the feedback obtained by the beta test, and relevant reassessment, a second administration was carried out involving sixteen classes for a total of 280 students. The results have been analysed in order to assess the validity of the tools employed, also compering them with those obtained from further tests administrated to the same sample-groups in two different occasions. This first phase of the research was followed by an additional in-depth analysis aiming at further exploring the functionality of the experimental test through a comparison between the scores obtained in the tests and the quality of the summaries on the read texts made by the students. This second phase involved a new sample-group of 118 fifth-grade students of primary school divided into an experimental group and a control group to whom were administered two different versions of the test. The experimental group underwent the test to be validated while the control group underwent a more traditional kind of test mostly focusing on the literal and inferential dimensions entirely composed of multiple choice items with four alternative answers. It was expected the summaries of the experimental group would have been qualitatively better with respect to content completeness and logical structure, as well as meeting more complex macro-rules of syntactical construction. The results of the conducted analyses (descriptive, correlational, and factorial in the first phase; descriptive, correlational, and relative to variance in the second phase) have confirmed the expected results, showing the validity and efficacy of the test with regards to the assessment of the ability to comprehend and as an incentive for complex cognitive and textual re-elaboration.
Con la supervisione della Prof.ssa Lerida Cisotto, la dottoranda ha progettato e verificato la validità di una prova strutturata di comprensione del testo rivolta a studenti di classe V di scuola primaria. Si è deciso di operare sul testo espositivo poiché, per la sua complessità strutturale, tale tipologia si presta a un’indagine approfondita dei nessi logici esistenti tra i nuclei concettuali che ne costituiscono la sua struttura gerarchica. La finalità dello studio condotto è stata di predisporre quesiti innovativi per tipologia e dimensione cognitiva indagata e indagarne l’efficacia e la funzionalità sia in prospettiva valutativa che in prospettiva didattica. Il processo di costruzione della prova ha preso avvio con la definizione degli obiettivi e delle condizioni di somministrazione, seguiti dalla scelta e analisi del testo e dalla prima formulazione degli item, successivamente pretestati con la somministrazione preventiva su un piccolo campione pilota (costituito da due classi V di scuola primaria). A seguito delle correzioni effettuate sulla base delle prime analisi condotte sulla prova pilota, è stata effettuata la seconda somministrazione, che ha coinvolto complessivamente 16 classi, per un totale di 280 alunni. I risultati ottenuti con la somministrazione della prova sono stati analizzati per verificare la validità e l’affidabilità dello strumento, servendosi anche del confronto con gli esiti di ulteriori prove somministrate allo stesso campione in due momenti differenti. A questa prima fase a fatto seguito un ulteriore approfondimento della ricerca, finalizzato ad esplorare ulteriormente la funzionalità della prova sperimentale, mediante il confronto tra i punteggi ottenuti nel test e la qualità del riassuntiva elaborato dagli alunni sul testo letto. La seconda fase ha coinvolto un nuovo campione costituito da 118 alunni di classe V di scuola primaria suddiviso in gruppo sperimentale e di controllo ai quali sono state somministrate due versioni diverse di test. Il gruppo sperimentale ha svolto la prova in oggetto di validazione, mentre il gruppo di controllo ha svolto una prova a struttura più tradizionale, indagante prevalentemente le dimensioni letterale e inferenziale e costituita esclusivamente da item a scelta multipla a quattro alternative di risposta. Ci si attendeva che i riassunti elaborati dagli studenti del gruppo sperimentale risultassero qualitativamente migliori in termini di completezza contenutistica e strutturazione logica e rispondenti alle macroregole di costruzione sintattica più complesse. I risultati delle analisi condotte (descrittive, delle correlazioni e fattoriale nella prima fase; descrittive, delle correlazioni e della varianza nella seconda fase) hanno confermato gli esiti attesi e dimostrato la validità e l’efficacia del test in termini di rilevazione delle abilità di comprensione e di guida per rielaborazioni cognitive e testuali complesse.

Questa tesi si prefigge due obiettivi distinti ma tra loro collegati. Essa prende le mosse da ricerche volte a saggiare la maggiore o minore disponibilità  dei lettori bizantini a dialogare con l'affascinante ma controversa eredità  di Origene. In questa prospettiva verrà  indagato un curioso riferimento, contenuto negli atti del Secondo Concilio di Nicea (787), a dei fantomatici atti di un sinodo apostolico tenutosi ad Antiochia e conservati nella biblioteca di Origene (capitolo 1). Ci dedicheremo poi allo studio dei rapporti di Fozio con la figura e l'opera di Origene. La valutazione del suo pensiero teologico si salderà  qui con la trasmissione materiale delle opere di Origene: particolare peso in questa ricerca avrà  infatti il codice Marc.gr. 47 della Filocalia (capitolo 2). In secondo luogo, questa tesi si occuperà  della ricezione e della trasmissione medievale di un'opera di Origene, il Commento a Matteo. Si fornirà  pertanto l'edizione dei libri 12 e 13 discostandosi dai criteri ecdotici adottati da Klostermann nella sua edizione del 1935. Per quest'opera disponiamo di un testo di tradizione diretta greca (libri 10-17 su 25), parzialmente sovrapposto a un'anonima traduzione latina (V-VI sec.). Si intende qui dimostrare che i nostri manoscritti greci non trasmettono il testo così come licenziato dall'autore: essi sono bensì testimoni di un compendio successivo, in cui il Commento a Matteo è stato pesantemente abbreviato. Si giungerà a questa conclusione tramite il sistematico confronto del testo greco con la traduzione latina, che appare spesso più ampia (capitolo 4) e con le catene esegetiche dedicate a i Vangeli sinottici che, laddove attingono al commento origeniano, offrono passaggi ignoti alla tradizione diretta (capitolo 3). Le medesime conclusioni si ricaveranno poi dallo studio di altri rami di tradizione, tra cui spiccano i frammenti palinsesti del Crypt. Γ. β. VI, testimoni della redazione non compendiata del Commento a Matteo (capitoli 5 e 6). Nella sua edizione del 1935 Klostermann aveva inserito nel testo greco innumerevoli congetture e integrazioni ricavate dal confronto sistematico con la traduzione latina. In questa sede offriamo invece un'edizione della sola redazione compendiaria greca, depurata dagli interventi dell'editore tedesco. Il testo greco sarà accompagnato da una traduzione italiana di servizio e sarà seguito da una serie di note atte a giustificare le scelte ecdotiche più delicate. L'edizione sarà peraltro basata su un aggiornato studio codicologico e paleografico dei manoscritti greci del Commento a Matteo (Cantabr.Trin.Coll. B. 8. 10; Monac.gr. 191; Marc.gr. 43, Vat.gr. 597; Par.gr. 455; Matr.gr. 4725; Barb.gr. 575; Barb.gr. 556), dei quali si offrirà un'aggiornata sistemazione stemmatica (capitolo 7).
This thesis has two distinct but related purposes. First of all, it aims at testing the greater or lesser willingness of Byzantine readers to dialogue with the fascinating but controversial Origen's legacy. In this perspective, we will investigate a curious reference, contained in the acts of the Second Council of Nicaea (787), to the presumed acts of an apostolic synod held in Antioch and kept in Origen's library (chapter 1). We will then focus on the study of Photius' appreciation of the figure and work of Origen. The evaluation of his theological thought will be joined with the material transmission of Origen's works. Indeed, ms. Marc.gr. 47of the Philocalia will be particularly relevant in this research (chapter 2). Secondly, this thesis will deal with the reception and the medieval transmission of a work by Origen, the Commentary on Matthew. The edition of books 12 and 13 will therefore be 560 provided, departing from the ecdotic criteria adopted by Klostermann in his 1935 edition. For this work, a Greek text is available (books 10-17 on 25), partially overlapping with an anonymous Latin translation (5th-6th century). Our aim is to demonstrate that our Greek manuscripts do not transmit the text as licensed by the author. On the contrary, they attest a later compilation, in which the Commentary on Matthew has been heavily abbreviated. We will come to this conclusion through the systematic comparison between the Greek text and the Latin translation, which often appears wider (chapter 4), and with the exegetical chains dedicated to the Synoptic Gospels which, where they draw from Origen's Commentary, offer passages unknown to the direct tradition (chapter 3). The same conclusions will then be drawn from the study of other branches of the tradition, among which the fragments of Crypt. Γ. β. VI stand out. They are in fact a witness of the unabridged version of the Commentary on Matthew (chapters 5 and 6). In its 1935 edition, Klostermann had inserted in the Greek text conjectures and additions derived from the systematic comparison with the Latin translation. Here we offer instead an edition of the Greek abridged version, purified from the interventions of the German scholar. The Greek text will be accompanied by a strictly literal Italian translation and will be followed by a series of notes to justify the most delicate ecdotic choices. The edition will also be based on a new codicological and palaeographic study of the Greek manuscripts of the Commentary on Matthew (Cantabr.Trin.Coll. B. 8. 10; Monac.gr. 191; Marc.gr. 43, Vat.gr. 597; Par.gr. 455; Matr.gr. 4725; Barb.gr. 575; Barb.gr. 556). Finally, an updated stemmatic arrangement of the manuscript tradition will be offered (chapter 7).

Come affrontare i processi di riqualificazione quando “il rapporto tra le aree-residenza e elementi primari” non è più alla base della configurazione per tessuti della città e la casa diventa monumentale memoria e gesto rappresentativo dello Stato? Concentrando lo sguardo sul periodo tra gli anni 60' e 70' si rende evidente un intento congiunto delle amministrazioni e degli architetti, attraverso la progettazione di complessi a scala macroscopica, spesso isolati dal contesto classico della città, di creare una visione chiara ed iconica del ruolo assistenzialista dello Stato. Questa stagione, sottolineata da scelte compositive in contrapposizione con la visione “ordinaria” della città e della sua crescita per tessuti, raggiunge la sua massima espressione nel “grande segno” che fa coincidere tipologia architettonica con morfologia urbana e racconta di un’amministrazione che vuole essere il referente diretto per la risoluzione di problematiche sociali e risponde in maniera reattiva e molto rapida alle questioni e alle esigenze poste dalle sue classi più bisognose. Il primo valore da riconoscere ai progetti di questo periodo è di essere stati rappresentativi di vocazioni collettive e di averle riassunte con un gesto progettuale dall'alto valore iconografico. La seconda caratteristica di questa stagione architettonica, continuando a restringere la valutazione ad una constatazione dei fatti scevra di componenti di giudizio, è la sua ampia vocazione ad essere terreno sperimentale sia in ambiti architettonici che urbanistici. La domanda che ci poniamo è se sia possibile ripartire da queste due valori per re-interpretare i progetti dei grandi complessi residenziali pubblici e renderli “abitabili” mantenendone le loro particolari vocazioni. How can we deal with requalification process in parts of the city which are no longer based on the “relation among residential-area and primary elements” and where the house has become the rappresentative memory of programs and ideals of the State? Concentrating on the 60' and 70' period in Italy it is clear a joined intent of the administration and the architects to create a neat and iconographic image of the protective and directive role of the State towards its citizen, through the designing of large, unitary social housing, often off the normal urban scale and isolated by the rest of the city. This season, highlighted by compositive experience in sharp contrapposition with the “ordinary” vision of the city, reach its maximal expression in “great sign design” that tends to an equivalence between architectural typology and urban morphology. The first merit that have to be acknowlegde to those project is to have been a representative of collective vocations through a high valued iconographical design. A second valor to be confered to this period is its vocation on being a laboratory for both architectural and urban experimentation. Question we are facing is, then, if it is possibile to start over on those two intrinsic values, seep through the lens of the european directives for sustainable renewal of the cities, for a reinterpretation of the large housing estates in order to give them back to their peculiar potential and to make the the center of regenerations of the city itself.
