Intuitively, a ribbon is a topological and geometric surface that has a fixed width. In the 1960s and 1970s, Calugareanu, White, and Fuller each independently proved a relationship between the geometry and topology of thin ribbons. This result has been applied in mathematical biology when analyzing properties of DNA strands. Although ribbons of small width have been studied extensively, it appears as though little to no research has be completed regarding ribbons of large width. If the magnetic field is applied adiabatically, the temperature of the material rises, and if the magnetic field is subsequently removed, the temperature decreases. This warming and cooling in response to the application and removal of an external magnetic field is called the Magnetocaloric effect (MCE). In this work, we focused on the soft magnetic amorphous alloys of the Fe-Zr system which have strong magnetocaloric effect under a fiel

90
The inter-π-band electronic excitations of AB-stacked nanographite ribbons are studied within the self-consistent-field approach. They directly reflect the characteristics of the π-electronic structure. They depend on the magnitude and the direction of the transferred momentum, the edge structure, and the stacking order. The loss function exhibits several peak structures. The pronounced peak, with frequency larger than 5 eV, is identified as the π-electronic collective excitations. The π plasmons exhibit the highly anisotroic behavior. They are almost absent, whil
