Abstract:
The commercialization of future wireless communication systems faces crucial problems in terms of reduced network cost of deployment and high power consumption. As a result, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RIS) have been suggested as a promising approach to overcome these existing challenges. In this paper, the performance of RIS in a wireless-powered interference-limited communication network is investigated. In this network, an energy-constrained access point (AP) is powered by a dedicated multiantenna power beacon (PB) and communicates to a destination limited-interference node via the RIS. It is assumed that the RIS experiences generalized-K fading distribution while the PB and interferers links are subjected to Nakagami-m fading distributions. To evaluate the system performance, the analytical closed-form expression of the probability distribution function (PDF) for the concerned system is derived. Through this, the exact closed-form expressions of the systems outage probability, average delay-tolerance throughput and average bit error rate are obtained. The analysis quantifies the effects of the number of reflecting elements in the RIS, number of interferer nodes, fading parameters on the AP and interferer links and number of antennas on the PB. It is deduced from the results that there is a kind of symmetry relationship between the analytical and simulation results. Additionally, the results illustrate that the proposed system with an RIS outperforms the conventional system without an RIS. Finally, the accuracy of the derived analytical expressions is validated through a Monte-Carlo simulation.

Abstract:
Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the effects of combined risperidone (RIS) and pivotal response treatment (PRT) in children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD). Design/methodology/approach In all, 34 children diagnosed with ASD (mean age of 12.36 years) were randomly divided into two groups: an RIS treatment group (n=18) and an RIS plus PRT (n=16). Communication skills were evaluated with the child communication checklist (CCC). Findings Total score of the CCC was increased in both groups after three months compared with the score prior to treatment. The total score of the CCC was significantly higher in the combined treatment group than in the RIS group. Originality/value Treatment with RIS combined with PRT may result in a better outcome in communication skill for children with autism than RIS training alone.

Abstract:
The power coverage of wireless communication is crucial for the quality of communication and cell network evaluation. In this letter, by taking the layout of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surface (RIS) into count, the power coverage area is proposed for a typical outdoor scenario, which has many rectangular buildings. In this approach, via designing the deploying angle, we introduce finding the optimal horizontal and elevation angles of RIS; we adjust RIS so as to get more power coverage. Since the computational complexity of the optimal solution is very high, a low-complexity method is proposed for solving the optimization problem. More specifically, the coverage is showed in the urban environment with RIS assisting. Presenting the numerical results, we can find the power coverage notably improved. It clearly indicates that our experiment is useful to solve the coverage problem for wireless communication.

Abstract:
Abstract:Radiology, Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving Systems (PACS), have the potential for immense rationalization of operations in radiology and hence for the improvement of health care, as well as the return of investments. These systems must, however, be carefully designed such that they support routine work rather than being an additional burden to radiology staff. Analyses show that comprehensive communication of patient demographic and clinical data between RIS, PACS and Hospital Information Systems (HIS) are necessary prerequisites to achieve cost effectiveness. Based on analyses of radiology operations in a large university primary care hospital, functional requirements and data structures for designing HIS/RIS/PACS interfaces are presented. These concern communication of past examinations, associated written reports and images, appointment scheduling, requests of new examinations, digitizing old analog X-ray films, access from RIS/PACS to other clinical data, and transfer of new radiology reports and relevant images. Consistency of all redundant data stored in the three systems is essential. A pragmatic, safe and inexpensive method of electronically integrating “old” modalities not fully ”PACS capable“ in the HIS/RIS/PACS world is presented.

Abstract:
Reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) for wireless networks has emerged as a promising future transmission technique to create smart radio environments that improve the system performance by turning the wireless channel into an adjustable system block. However, transceivers come with various hardware impairments, such as phase noise and in-phase/quadrature-phase imbalance (IQI). Hence, for robust configuration of RIS-based communication under practical conditions, assuming the identical performance analysis when subject to IQI, will lead to inaccurate analysis. In this paper, the implementation of this novel transmission technique is thoroughly investigated under intensive realistic circumstances. For this purpose, based on the maximum likelihood (ML) detector, a novel analytical expression of average pairwise error probability under IQI is proposed and compared to the standard ML detector. Further, the proposed analytical approaches are confirmed by numerical simulations.

Abstract:
Recently, reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs) have received much interest from both academia and industry due to their flexibility and cost-effectiveness in adjusting the phase and amplitude of wireless signals with low-cost passive reflecting elements. In particular, many RIS-aided techniques have been proposed to improve both data rate and energy efficiency for 6G wireless communication systems. In this paper, we propose a novel RIS-based channel randomization (RCR) technique for improving physical-layer security (PLS) for a time-division duplex (TDD) downlink cellular wire-tap network which consists of a single base station (BS) with multiple antennas, multiple legitimate pieces of user equipment (UE), multiple eavesdroppers (EVEs), and multiple RISs. We assume that only a line-of-sight (LOS) channel exists among the BS, the RISs, and the UE due to propagation characteristics of tera-hertz (THz) spectrum bands that may be used in 6G wireless communication systems. In the proposed technique, each RIS first pseudo-randomly generates multiple reflection matrices and utilizes them for both pilot signal duration (PSD) in uplink and data transmission duration (DTD) in downlink. Then, the BS estimates wireless channels of UE with reflection matrices of all RISs and selects the UE that has the best secrecy rate for each reflection matrix generated. It is shown herein that the proposed technique outperforms the conventional techniques in terms of achievable secrecy rates.

Abstract:
Objective. The study aimed to explore the application value of picture archiving and communication system (PCAS) of MRI images based on radial basis function (RBF) neural network algorithm combined with the radiology information system (RIS). Methods. 551 patients who required MRI examination in a hospital from May 2016 to May 2021 were selected as research subjects. Patients were divided into two groups according to their own wishes. Those who were willing to use the RBF neural network algorithm-based PCAS of MRI images combined with RIS were set as the combined group, involving a total of 278 cases; those who were unwilling were set as the regular group, involving a total of 273 cases. The RBF neural network algorithm-based PCAS of MRI images combined with RIS was trained and tested for classification performance and then used for comparison analysis. Result. The actual output (0.031259–0.038515) of all test samples was almost the same as the target output (0.000000) ( P > 0.05). In the first 50,000 learnings, the iteration error of the RBF neural network dropped rapidly and finally stabilized at 0.038. The classification accuracy of the RBF neural network algorithm-based PCAS of MRI images combined with RIS for the head was 94.28%, that of abdomen was 97.22%, and it was 93.10% for knee joint, showing no statistically significant differences ( P > 0.05), and the total classification accuracy was as high as 95%. The time spent in the examination in the combined group was about 2 hours, and that in the regular group was about 4 hours ( P > 0.05). The satisfaction of the combined group (96.76%) was significantly higher than that of the control group (46.89%) ( P > 0.05). Conclusion. The RBF neural network has good classification performance for MRI images. To incorporate intelligent algorithms into the medical information system can optimize the system. RBF has good application prospects in the medical information system, and it is worthy of continuous exploration.

Abstract:
Mobile edge computing (MEC) represents an enabling technology for prospective Internet of Vehicles (IoV) networks. However, the complex vehicular propagation environment may hinder computation offloading. To this end, this paper proposes a novel computation offloading framework for IoV and presents an unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV)-aided network architecture. It is considered that the connected vehicles in a IoV ecosystem should fully offload latency-critical computation-intensive tasks to road side units (RSUs) that integrate MEC functionalities. In this regard, a UAV is deployed to serve as an aerial RSU (ARSU) and also operate as an aerial relay to offload part of the tasks to a ground RSU (GRSU). In order to further enhance the end-to-end communication during data offloading, the proposed architecture relies on reconfigurable intelligent surface (RIS) units consisting of arrays of reflecting elements. In particular, a dual-RIS configuration is presented, where each RIS unit serves its nearby network nodes. Since perfect phase estimation or high-precision configuration of the reflection phases is impractical in highly mobile IoV environments, data offloading via RIS units with phase errors is considered. As the efficient energy management of resource-constrained electric vehicles and battery-enabled RSUs is of outmost importance, this paper proposes an optimization approach that intends to minimize the weighted total energy consumption (WTEC) of the vehicles and ARSU subject to transmit power constraints, timeslot scheduling, and task allocation. Extensive numerical calculations are carried out to verify the efficacy of the optimized dual-RIS-assisted wireless transmission.

SummaryObjectives: To assess the impact of introducing a new Picture Archiving and Communication System (PACS) and Radiology Information System (RIS) on: (i) Medical Imaging work processes; and (ii) turnaround times (TATs) for x-ray and CT scan orders initiated in the Emergency Department (ED).Methods: We employed a mixed method study design comprising: (i) semi-structured interviews with Medical Imaging Department staff; and (ii) retrospectively extracted ED data before (March/ April 2010) and after (March/April 2011 and 2012) the introduction of a new PACS/RIS. TATs were calculated as: processing TAT (median time from image ordering to examination) and reporting TAT (median time from examination to final report). Results: Reporting TAT for x-rays decreased significantly after introduction of the new PACS/RIS; from a median of 76 hours to 38 hours per order (p<.0001) for patients discharged from the ED, and from 84 hours to 35 hours (p<.0001) for patients admitted to hospital. Medical Imaging staff reported that the changeover to the new PACS/RIS led to gains in efficiency, particularly regarding the accessibility of images and patient-related information. Nevertheless, assimilation of the new PACS/RIS with existing Departmental work processes was considered inadequate and in some instances unsafe. Issues highlighted related to the synchronization of work tasks (e.g., porter arrangements) and the material set up of the work place (e.g., the number and location of computers). Conclusions: The introduction of new health IT can be a “double-edged sword” providing improved efficiency but at the same time introducing potential hazards affecting the effectiveness of the Medical Imaging Department.Citation: Georgiou A, Prgomet M, Lymer S, Hordern A, Ridley4 L, Westbrook J.The impact of a health IT changeover on Medical Imaging Department work processes and turnaround times: a mixed method study. Abstract:
Purpose: The objective of this study is to assess the current level of Radiological Information Systems (RIS) and Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS) incorporation in greek public hospitals through a national web-based survey. Since there are no previous studies on this field of medical imaging management in Greece, we look forward to export useful conclusions about RIS/PACS incorporation and set the foundation for further investigation. Material and Methods: A comprehensive measurement instrument that integrates the existing theoretical and empirical literature knowledge on Information Systems (IS) evaluation was properly modified and used for the purpose of this study. A web-based survey was conducted via Google Form questionnaire, which was distributed to the entire population of radiologists and radiologic technologists (potential users) of all greek public hospitals (urban and rural), in order to identify the availability of RIS/PACS Information Systems (IS), the level of incorporation through system’s impact on users satisfaction and their operating capacities (i.e. computerized activities and processes). Results: A total of 49 valid responses out of 77 collected questionnaires were received from all 124 greek public hospitals, which represents a response rate of 39.5%. Our very first findings indicate that establishment of RIS/PACS has not been fulfilled so far for the vast majority of greek public hospitals. Almost half of the participants (51%) responded that they use only the capabilities of PACS as a repository for medical images, instead of implementing all capabilities of RIS. Also, although 85.7% of the participants responded that they use disc publisher for medical imaging exams copies, only 6.1% responded that has gone totally filmless or paperless. 59.2% of the respondents has access to 5 or more workstations and 100% of the respondents agrees that ER and clinics should connect on hospital's RIS/PACS for viewing medical images, receiving electronic reports and updating patients' electronic files. Overall findings from statistical techniques demonstrate a statistically significant difference in perceived information (p-value=0.021) and service quality (p-value=0.036) with age of respondents. Finally, open feedback answers indicate that greek public hospitals have still many to set to successfully incorporate and exploit the wide range of RIS/PACS capabilities to improve quality, effectiveness and efficiency of patient care services. Discussions: Although, most of the respondents have an adequate level in the operation of information systems, lack of RIS/PACS usage training is noted, as well as users’ support from their own organization IT staff. Also, structural deficiencies worry system’s users, making them intolerant to adopting the system in daily practice. The recommendations of this study include RIS/PACS incorporation in every medical imaging department of greek hospitals, users training and support, as well as updating infrastructures where needed.

Abstract:
AbstractThe Institute for Security and Social Services for State Workers (ISSSTE) is a large public provider of health care services that serve around 13.2 million Mexican government workers and their families. To attain process efficiencies, cost reductions, and improvement of the quality of diagnostic and imaging services, ISSSTE was set out in 2019 to create a digital filmless medical image and report management system. A large-scale clinical information system (CIS), including radiology information system (RIS), picture archiving and communication system (PACS), and clinical data warehouse (CDW) components, was implemented at ISSSTE’s network of forty secondary- and tertiary-level public hospitals, applying global HL-7 and Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine (DICOM) standards. In just 5 months, 40 hospitals had their endoscopy, radiology, and pathology services functionally interconnected within a national CIS and RIS/PACS on secure private local area networks (LANs) and a secure national wide area network (WAN). More than 2 million yearly studies and reports are now in digital form in a CDW, securely stored and always available. Benefits include increased productivity, reduced turnaround times, reduced need for duplicate exams, and reduced costs. Abstract:
Medical imaging has become a major investigation tool during the last few years, due to availability of several digitalised imaging modalities (Computed Tomography, Magnetic Resonance, etc.). Interest has grown in medical image management by appropriate information systems. These processing tools defined PACS - systems of acquisition, storage, transmission and communication - must be integrated on the one hand with the RIS - radiological information system (patient, appointment procedure) - and on the other hand with the HIS - hospital information system - to offer sufficient advantages to justify their installation.

Abstract:
Over the years, impact of digitalization has been implemented in every aspect of human life, including the healthcare and hospital environment. Vendors and manufacturer are making the competition to implement to be the highest, the fastest, and the best solutions to the market and become the world leader that can attract the hospital and healthcare facility to use their system and their products. However all of the digital equipment are not standardize, the integration of system, data management and archive are the main problems in Radiology department eventhough using standard medical image (DICOM) protocol. We propose digital solutions in Radiology department that implemented using known as RIS or Radiology Information System and PACS or Picture Archive Communication System that using open source software and easily adaptable technology with no boundaries of applications and vendor neutral. Our paper shows that through digital solutions provided by radiology department will improve the productivity of doctor, radiographer and administration people. Digitalization products with RIS and PACS also answer the needs of speed and manageable image storage in the hospital.

The article is focused on the “demonstration” activities carried out by the University of Genoa at Savona Campus facilities in order to implement the “Living Lab Smart City”. The idea is to transform the Savona Campus in a Living Lab of the City of the Future: smart technologies in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) and energy sectors were installed in order to show a real application of the Smart City concept to population and external stakeholders. Moreover, special attention was given to the environment, personal wellbeing, and social equalities. The sustainable energy Research Infrastructures (RIs) of Savona Campus allowed enhancement of the applied research in degree programs and the collaboration with several companies. In particular, an important partnership with the Italian electric Distribution System Operator (DSO), ENEL S.p.A., started in 2017 to test the capability of these RIs to operate disconnected from the National Grid, relying only on the supply of renewables and storage systems. The “Living Lab Smart City” is an important action to reduce the carbon footprint of the Savona Campus and to increase the awareness of students, teachers and researchers towards Sustainable Development in Higher Education Institutes.

Abstract: The crucial problem that Science has to face today is to successfully cope with the growing complexity of society. To understand the system to which we belong to, it is necessary to understand the nature of interdependence: the greater the interdependence is, the greater the need for communication and cooperation. The European model, which initially promised to be a social and regional model, decentralized and democratic, is blocked. A situation that we can describe as no-evolution, that Spain also suffers at the same time as Europe, when it comes to progress towards a mature and democratic state, what was expected since the beginning of the transition to democracy. The debate can be thought from the “European Committee of the Regions” (CoR) or “Europe of the regions”, or dismantle that topic, which would entail an involution from the reduction of decentralization and heterogeneity that sustains a higher complexity.

Abstract:
Picture Archiving and Communication Systems (PACS), alongside Radiological Information Systems (RIS) are nowadays widely disseminated, proven useful, hospital information systems components. The “Région Sans Film” (“Filmless Region”) program was launched in 2009 by the French ministry of health in order to help the generalization to all healthcare structures such as hospitals or general physician practices, of PACS, RIS, and archiving of medical images. It is done by means of a mutualized service platform whom building and running has been entrusted to an industrial consortium. This platform implements the latest technologies of medical image processing and of cloud computing. It is built in order to support service-oriented enterprise architecture composed of one main layer of software services. This natively scalable platform is innovative because it is the first one which contains all the materials for the implementation of all services in the cloud. The corresponding SLA are defined in order to be adaptable to the needs of further health structures which could later join the platform by participating in its mutualized purchasing. The goal is not only to share the costs but also to deliver new images sharing services. New business processes/services around sharing of images such as teleradiology or access to the images produced in hospitals to the general practitioners are defined towards the exercise of real filmless radiology.

Premier Bintaro Hospital is equipped with High-end modalities with various types of advanced radiological examinations. There are several service centers that require continuous imaging support, such as vascular centers, Pain Centers, Spine centers and others. Integrated storage and access to patient data is needed to improve work efficiency. With the implementation of Picture Archiving And Communication System (PACS) in Radiology Unit, there are improvements in services and increased productivity when compared to previous system. This research will discuss a number of issues related to the role of PACS in Radiology services as evaluation material for services compared with the system before PACS is implemented. This research was made to determine the role of PACS in Premier Bintaro Hospital. This research is prepared with literature review, observation, and documentation. The application of PACS in Premier bintaro Hospital basically has the same workflow compared to workflows in general. Application of HL7 interface System which is equipped with DMWL makes PACS applied will integrated properly with HIS / RIS. The advantages of implementing PACS are more on data integration, storage, data editing, and presentation of data in digital form. The lack of PACS is more focused on the stability of the connection as the basis of the data transportation path needed. The challenge faced in the future is the problem of strengthening the stability of connection and education to users related.

Abstract:
The Vehicular ad-hoc Network (VANET) is a subclass of Mobile ad-hoc networks (MANETs).VANET is a wireless network created from the concept of building a vehicle network (node) toexchange data information (data communication). There is a new concept technique forVANET communication used, namely the use of the concept of Software Defined Network(SDN) on VANET. For data communication between vehicles, a routing protocol required. Themost common routing protocol used on VANET since 2003 is AODV. In 2014 several studieswere using the SDN paradigm tried on VANET technology to improve the performance ofQuality of Service (QoS), one of which is a Geographic-based SDN, called SDGR in 2016.Multicast is a method of routing data on a network that allows one node or a group of nodes tocommunicate efficiently with the receiving node. The multicast concept supports one-to-manyrouting in nodes that send packet data to a group of nodes. The development of the SDGRrouting protocol using the idea of multicast technique to SDGR based on the Direction calledSDGR + R carried out in 2019. This study uses a case study of vehicle transportationsimulations in the Lamber Port area of Lombok. The simulation results knew that SDGR + Ris better than AODV in terms of service quality (QoS) at a latency of 15.58% and packet deliveryratio (PDR) of 47.78%.

Abstract:
SummaryThe installation of a Radiology Information System (RIS) connected to a Hospital Information System (HIS) and a Picture Archiving and Communications System (PACS) seems mandatory for a nuclear medicine department in order to guarantee a high patient throughput. With these systems a fast transmission of reports, images to the in- and out-patients’ wards and private practitioners is realized. Therefore, since April 2000, at the department of nuclear medicine of the university of Würzburg a completely DICOM based PACS has been implemented in addition to the RIS.With this system a DICOM based workflow is realized throughout the department of nuclear medicine for reporting and archiving. The PACS is connected to six gamma-cameras, a PET scanner, a bone densitometry system and an ultrasound device. The volume of image data archived per month is 4 GByte. Patient demographics are provided to the modalities via DICOM-Worklist. With these PACS components a department specific archive purely based on DICOM can be realized. During the installation process problems occurred mainly because of the complex DICOM standard for nuclear medicine. Related to that is the problem that most of the software implementations still contain bugs or are not adapted to the needs of a nuclear medicine department (particularly for PET).A communication software for the distribution of nuclear medicine reports and images based on techniques used for the worldwide web is currently tested.

Abstract We investigate how communication within banks affects small business lending. Using travel times between a bank’s headquarters and its branches to proxy for the costs of communicating soft information, we exploit shocks to these travel times—the introduction of new airline routes—to evaluate the impact of within-bank communication costs on small business loans. We find that reducing headquarters-branch travel time boosts small business lending in the branch’s county. Several extensions suggest that new airline routes facilitate in-person communications that boost small-firm lending.

Abstract:
The expansion of the Internet-of-Things (IoT) market is visible in homes, factories, public places, and smart cities. While the massive deployment of connected devices offers opportunities to improve quality of life and to develop new services, the impact of such devices on the security of the users in a context where the level of malicious threat continues to increase is a major concern. One of the challenges is the heterogeneity and constant evolution of wireless technologies and protocols used. To overcome this problem, we propose RIDS, a Radio Intrusion Detection System that is based on the monitoring and profiling of radio communications at the physical layer level using autoencoder neural networks. RIDS is independent of the wireless protocols and modulation technologies used. Besides, it is designed to provide a threefold diagnosis of the detected anomalies: temporal (start and end date of the detected anomaly), frequential (main frequency of the anomaly), and spatial (location of the origin of the anomaly). To demonstrate the relevance and the efficiency of our approach, we collected a large dataset of radio-communications recorded with three different probes deployed in an experimental room. Multiple real-world attacks involving a wide variety of communication technologies are also injected to assess the detection and diagnosis efficiency. The results demonstrate the efficiency of RIDS in detecting and diagnosing anomalies that occurred in the 400–500 Mhz and 800–900 Mhz frequency bands. It is noteworthy that compromised devices and attacks using these communication bands are generally not easily covered by traditional solutions.

Abstract:
AbstractClimate-induced floods are increasing in Africa. The need to evolve framework for adaptation to climate change impact (CCI) among flood-prone fish farmers necessitated this study. Based on availability, 60 farming active flood-experienced fish farmers were purposively selected from flood-prone (Gulu and Kibuku) regions in climate hotspot Uganda. These were assessed for CCI adaptation tendencies in their socioeconomics and farming operation/techniques (FOI) indices, CCI awareness, CCI adaptation strategies, and perceived required interventions (RIs) using structured questionnaire. Data were analyzed through descriptive and multivariate regression tools. Respondents were mostly male, adults, educated, Christian, married, medium-sized family, social group members, 1–5 years’ experience, medium-sized farms, and government trained. Income was 1.0–6.0 million Ugx/year. In FOI, semi-intensive culture system, use of rainwater plus groundwater, small-sized (< 0.5 ha) ponds, ponds possession of inlets and outlets, seasonal farming and mixed culture/farming dominated. Most respondents were aware of CCI, while erratic rainfall with floods and prolonged drought mostly impacted farming. AS-Adaptation Strategy were changed stocking time and livelihood diversification. Communication technology and social group’s membership enhanced adaptation, while inadequate awareness constrains adaptation. Respondents’ RI(s) were tree planting, irrigation and pond perimeter trenching. Gender, government training, farm size, water sources and presence of inlet and outlets in ponds (FOI) predicted adaptation (R = 0.802, R2 = 0.64, P < 0.05). Some socioeconomic, technical and awareness indices could assist CCI flexibility. However, the statistically significant predictors of adaptation, identified adaptive strategies, constraints to adaptation and required interventions could be integrated into a framework for effective CCI adaptation for sustainable fish farming in flood-prone scenarios.
