Abstract:
In the battle for minds and hearts of young Muslims in Eastern Anatolia, the Risale-i Nur movement inspired by the writings of Said Nursi may prove to be the most effective peace-oriented alternative to the xenophobic teachings of isis. As the most influential Muslim thinker in Turkey in the 20th Century, Nursi still attracts the attention and loyalty of great number of Turks and Kurds. Nursi was one of the earliest to call for Muslim-Christian cooperation in the struggle against ignorance, poverty, and disunity. His message of peace and dialogue offer a sound foundation for both ethnic tolerance and interreligious harmony.

Abstract:
This article discusses the contribution of two great scholars in the Muslim world, Bediʿuzzaman Saʿid Nursī (d.1960) and Haji ʿAbdul Malīk bin ʿAbdul Karīm ʿAmrullah (HAMKA) (d.1981). They contributed immensely to their communities in Turkey and Indonesia. Both scholars produced magnum opus on the meanings and interpretations of the Qur’ān. This article examines the contents of Saʿid Nursī’s Risale-i Nur and HAMKA’s Tafsīr al-Azhar respectively. Besides, this article also focusing on Quranic exegesis methodologies adopted by both scholars. The article employs textual analysis and comparative study on Risale-i Nur and Tafsīr al-Azhar, supported by other related written materials on the topic. This paper concludes that Saʿid Nursī and Hamka employ Quranic exegesis as a medium to make Islām understandable and practical in their locality. It is evident that certain methodologies of the Quranic exegesis they adopted in both Risale-i Nur and Tafsīr al-Azhar served as the daʿwah tools in an efforts to bring Islam closer to the local community. Keywords: Risale-i Nur, Tafsīr al-Azhar, Quranic exegesis, daʿwah, methodology. Abstract:
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi addressed many issues on the Muslim way of life in his famous tafsīr, Risale-I Nur. The discussion and commentaries in this tafsīr, which were written during the 1910s and 1950, are still relevant to many present-day issues. This study aims to seek out his opinions on women’s issues as well as his reasoning behind the commandments of the Qur’ān and Sunnah related to them. This study will focus on the chapters and the sub-chapters in Risale-I Nur and their commentaries on women’s issues and proposed solutions. This qualitative study utilizes the deductive and inductive methods, as all of the selected commentaries will be examined and categorised accordingly to the corresponding issue. The result indicates that there are several women’s issues discussed in Risale-I Nur, as well as Bediuzzaman Said Nursi advices on how to utilize women’s potential appropriately.

This article examines Said Nursi’s understanding of Jesus, his comparison of the prophethood of Jesus with that of Muḥammad, and his conception of Christianity and Islam as partners in the struggle against irreligion. Nursi’s views are then placed in the context of interreligious dialogue and the argument made that Nursi’s critical respect for Christianity can be read as an Islamic version of religious inclusivism, i.e. Nursi’s recognition and valuing of the truth, goodness and holiness of Christianity, while affirming that these qualities reach full expression only in Islam.

Abstract:
Reading the act of creation as written or spoken narrative seems to have gained currency across the faith traditions from very early on. The Muslim tradition is no exception. As the ‘pen and ink’ verse in the Qur'an shows, the notion of creation as an assemblage of divine words is as old as Islam itself. It was not until the advent of Muslim mysticism, however, that writers began to build on the image's revelatory foundations. The present study is an introductory analysis of extended metaphor in the work of the Ottoman theologian Bediüzzaman Said Nursi, with particular reference to the use of the ‘graphological trope’ in his six-thousand-page exegesis of the Qur'an known as the Risale-i Nur (‘The Epistles of Light’). The aim is to draw attention to Nursi's use of a particular literary conceit that is deserving of further study. Of the few works on Nursi and his teachings that stand up to serious academic scrutiny, nothing of substance has been written about the language of the Risale-i Nur. It is hoped that this exploratory article will spur other scholars on to a more extensive survey and analysis of imagery in Nursi's oeuvre.

Abstract:
This article discusses the role of affirmative action in protecting from anxious self, and its effective contribution to treating its negative effects on building human civilization through Risale-i Nur by Imam Badi Al-Zaman Al-Nursi. Three main issues are discussed in this study: the causes of anxiousness self, the concrete effects of anxiousness self on individuals and society and the values of affirmative action that are used in treating the anxiousness self and its negative impacts. The causes of anxiousness self and its effects on individuals and society were extracted by using the inductive approach of Risale-i Nur. But the descriptive method was used to extract the effective values of affirmative action to protect from it and treat its effects. The study confirms that concentrating and completing work are among the affirmative action basics regardless of the results. It also draws attention to the importance of the media to reduce the penetration of anxiousness self among society members. The results demonstrate the effectiveness of collective actions, whether they are religious or non-religious, to treat the anxious self and reduce its impacts.

Abstract:
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi is one of the thinkers and reformers from Turkey who emerged as a figure of Sufism, the savior of faith and Islam in the 19th century. This research found a formulation of the self-actualization process that was different from the concepts of other scientists. According to Said Nursi, humans' self-concept consists of several natures: the rabbani nature, the nafsani nature, the spiritual nature, the physical nature, the tafakkur nature, and the tadhabbur nature. Some of these natures depend on the characteristics of the human soul journey, which cannot be separated from the fulfillment of worldly and spiritual needs and the ultimate need in the form of spirituality. Said Nursi's self-actualization positions as one of the alternative thinking frameworks based on the Koran, which goes through a four-step self-actualization process: through devotion to Allah by burying arrogance (abdun wa al-faqr), through the light of faith in God, through manifesting Asma-ul-Husna (Names of Allah) reflected in oneself, and by following the path of the Qur'an as the path of nature. Even Said Nursi repeatedly emphasized that every human being actually has the potential in the form of intrinsic faculties residing in his heart, soul, and intellect. Those popularly known as Al-Tafakkur, Tadhabbur, Al-'Ajz, Al-Fāqr, and Al-Shāfaqah are called spiritual innovations that lead to the development of tauhid to shape character and behavior towards perfect humans (Inshan Al-Kamil).

Abstract:
This paper investigates Bediuzzaman Said Nursi’s methodology for the revitalization of belief and spiritual development of individuals through Risale-I-Nur. It analyses Nursi’s concept of Human I, methodology of the spiritual training to save an individual’s belief from materialist philosophy, spiritual guidance for different segments of society, and understanding of ethical values in the Islamic context. The research methodology of the paper is qualitative. The study reveals that Nursi asserts that reflection on the inner world and understanding of human 'I', are a means to comprehend the reality of the Creator and man's role as His representative. However, Nursi's understanding of inner reflection and spirituality is different from traditional Sufiism on many counts. He advises believers to seek guidance from the line of prophethood as opposed to that of philosophy to protect themselves from materialist ideologies. The study also reveals that Risale provides spiritual guidance for almost every segment of society and advises the believers to see tribulations as an opportunity for their spiritual growth. Finally, the research concludes that Nursi sees the man and the universe as closely related wherein observing ethical values in the light of religion brings about harmony between the two.

Abstract:
The concept of tafsiri şuhudi (transempirical exegesis) was coined for the first time by Said Nursi (d. 1960) and was reflected throughout his works. In his tafsiri şuhudi (pronounced shuhudi) methodology, Nursi views the Qur’an as an interpretation of the universe, that is Kitab al-Kabir (a big book). According to Nursi, such an exegesis is needed to reach the degree of iman tahkiki (investigative belief), also known as authentic faith. As part of his methodology, Nursi uses spiritual experience (kashf) and secular sciences as evidence for gaining true faith. Tafsiri şuhudi is an offshoot of ishari (inner meaning) tafsir but one that is injected with rationalism. This tafsir type also injects witnessing (şuhudi) into the dry body of scientific and modern tafsir that emerged in the Muslim world after European enlightenment. This article first examines the original hermeneutical concept of tafsir şuhudi in Nursi’s works and then analyses the sound heart, an essential part of iman tahkiki, in light of Nursi’s transempirical experience. The article argues that Nursi injects rationalism into the ishari tafsir methodology and infuses şuhudi experience by making it not only an epistemic but also an existential understanding of modern tafsir methodology.

Abstract:
The study of hatred that emerges as human nature can provide an analytical picture of how hatred arises, develops, and turns into humanitarian incidents. With an in-depth, systematic, and genealogical study, it can come up with a panacea for this hatred. The elixir can turn hatred into compassion, violence into nonviolence, and find creative ways to turn conflict into peace; thus, creating a new, better reality. This qualitative research uses a literature study from Risale-i Nur by Bediüzzaman Said Nursi (1877-1960). In this study, Nursi's religious and psychological explanations are compared with religious theories and studies of peace and conflict that are already popular in the Western world. The data in Risale-i Nur were analysed using the Mimesis theoretical framework of the philosophical approach. With this analysis there is the prefiguration stage (Mimesis I) about the background of Said Nursi's life, the configuration stage (Mimesis II) about the story of Said Nursi's traumatic experience, and the transfiguration stage about the emergence of the capacity to handle conflict independently with others using nonviolent ideas creatively, thus creating a new reality (Mimesis III). This new reality is "nonviolent Islam," which transforms conflict nonviolently, overcoming hatred with compassion and forgiveness. This statement is based on the argument that hatred is the root of violence, and Said Nursi can escape the trap of hatred through compassion and forgiveness. This study can contribute ideas to the study of moral philosophy and can also be used as a reference for training modules and sharing experiences to reduce conflict in society or between communities.

Abstract:
Said Nursi was a profound Muslim thinker and revivalist, whose teachings (Risale-i Nur) and ideology are still being followed today in modern Turkey. His life is full of enthusiasm and energy. During his lifetime, he encountered problems similar to those faced by other Muslim scholars and thinkers in other parts of the Islamic world in the 20th century. He lived a life of struggle and harassment but never acted aggressively and never allowed his students to respond with aggression. The strong opposition of the government to religion as opposed to Nursi’s firm stand against any irreligiousness certainly made him a symbol of religious movement in Turkey. He sacrificed his whole life for the cause of Islam and fought against the corruption of society caused by enemies like atheism, materialism, colonialism, etc. through his writings collectively known as Risale-i Nur, whose teachings form the basis of one of the largest and rather influential religious orders. This paper anticipates discussing the significance of Nursi’s thoughts, teachings and his life and also explaining the importance of Nursi in the formation of ideology that helped the society of Turkey to get rid of anti-religious systems. The aim of this research paper is to explain his literary contributions that proved to be one of the most ubiquitous read materials in Turkey. Also, the paper will describe and highlight some clarity related to the writings of Nursi i.e. who wrote actually the treatises of Nursi, its propagation and popularization, who published and translated it in later times.

Abstract:
The approach to Islamic education implemented by Said Nursi is still relevant to be applied in the current condition of Islamic education. This paper explores the works of Said Nursi, especially those summarized in Risalah E Nur. This research focuses on the scope of Islamic education approaches, with the main problem being how Said Nursi applies the approaches of Islamic education in educational institutions, community forums, and Risale-i Nur. This study uses qualitative data in the form of literature and verbal information. It uses analytical descriptive analysis techniques, which analyze and conclude from confirmed opinions, and content analysis, which analyzes the meaning of assumptions, ideas, or statements to gain understanding and conclusion after being identified that the approaches in the application of the educational process carried out by Said Nursi, among others: psychological approach, sociocultural approach, religious approach, historical approach, comparative approach, philosophical approach. The psychological, sociocultural, religious, historical, comparative, and philosophical approaches remain 'oriented towards 'seeking the truth' and 'appreciating differences,' not 'seeking victory' and 'hating differences and claiming the proper self. This method and approach will widen the horizons between teachers, students, teacher-students, and teacher participants in education-community; as a lively educational interaction. Education now really needs such a healthy (climate) situation.

Abstract
Bediuzzaman Said Nursi’s thoughts and activities on da’wah had been an unique model of the responses to western modernization in Turkey after the declining Ottoman Empire in nineteenth and early-twentieth centuries. Abstract:

Abstract:
This paper aims to answer the question “why did God create the world” by examining Bediuzzaman Said Nursi’s magnum opus, the The Epistles of Light (Risale-i Nur), to demonstrate that, from a Nursian perspective, divine love is the raison d’etre for the creation of the world. The first section will investigate the notion of divine love as reflected in the wider Muslim scholarly literature. This will be followed by a discussion on the theology of divine names, with special attention to Nursi’s perspective, illustrating the critical role that this concept plays in Nursian theology particularly as it relates to cosmic creation. The third section will explore the metaphysics of love, the important implications of God’s love in the creation of the world, and its role as the driving force for the dynamism and activities within the structure of the universe. The Qur’anic presentation of love, maḥabba, as well as the significance of the reciprocal nature of love between God and humankind will be explored next. The final section will shed light on the synergy between divine love and the Qur’anic notion of ibtilā, trial and tribulation, to demonstrate its instrumentality in man’s spiritual journey.

Abstract:
The need of modern man requires more practical answer from religious perspective to support them in facing rapid changes and high demands of life. The issue of human will which is the most important and fundamental foundation to the concept of responsibility and morality is still open to discussion and debate. This paper aims at exploring the view of a reformer of Islam, Badiuzzaman Sa‘id Nursi in his 26th Word of his Risale-I Nur. Rather than having the discourse in a purely theological method, Nursi demonstrates it in a synthesis manner and suitable with modern man. The issue which is normally brought as juxtaposed with the concept of absolute will of God is dealt with in a harmonious way and suitable to all readers. Other than the phenomenological approach to the ontology of solving the relationship between God’s power and human will, Nursi also brought in very remarkable explanation about good and bad and how human should deal with them. Through-out his explanation, Nursi came with interesting illustrations and therefore successful in explaining the issue effectively. This suits his status as a reformer of Islam who came to shed lights on crucial issues with modern approach.

Abstract:
The best means to understanding inner peace is through the lived experience of individuals, where they are able to share the hardships and calamities they have lived through, and the processes they have followed in order to cope with those challenges. Said Nursi, a twentieth century scholar, regularly talks about the challenges he faced in his life through his writings, the Risale-i Nur (Treatise of Light). At the same time, Nursi puts great emphasis on how strong faith in God is the source of inner peace since it provides a perspective which helps one to better understand those challenges. How does one reconcile the two; hardships and inner peace? This article focuses on three types of calamities faced by Nursi; exiles, imprisonments and the death of his spiritual son, after which it analyses Nursi’s thought process on how he responded to those calamities as a result of his faith. The article then focuses on Nursi’s approach where everything should be viewed as other indicative. In summary, it sheds light on Nursi’s understanding of inner peace and how he sees faith as the ultimate source of that inner peace.
