Full textThe use of hand drawn construction model was the only way of development, rebuilding, sales and real estate management before the 80’s. However, the challenge was to preserve the drawings and maintain its real condition. To make things work faster and easier the development of advanced drawing software (CAD) was introduced which replaced the traditional hand drawn designs. Today, CAD is used broadly for all new constructions with a great success rate. However, with the new advanced technology many engineers and construction companies are heavily using 3D models over 2D drawings. The major advantage of designing in 3D is a virtual model created of the entire building to get a better control of input construction items and the errors can be detected at earlier stages than at the construction sites. By modifying buildings in a virtual model in three dimensions yet at the first stage and gradually fill it with more relevant information throughout the life cycle of buildings to get a complete information model. One of the requirements from the property owners in the redevelopment and management is to provide accurate information and updated drawings. It should be simple for the contractor to read drawings. This report describes a streamlined work processes, methods, tools and applications for the production of 3D models. This work is intended to lead to a methodology and to be used as well as for passing on experience. This report will also be a base to describe the approach to model from older drawings into 3D models. The method description will simplify the understanding of model for both the property owners and for companies who creates 3D models. It will also increase the quality of the work to create CAD models from the different data used for modeling.

Full textIn recent years, the implementation of building information modeling (BIM) in the Swedish civil engineering industry has increased. This is due to directives from the government stating that the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket), in greater occurrence, will benefit from the digital possibilities with the BIM concept. Trafikverket is the government agency responsible for the long-term planning and management of public roads, construction in the infrastructure such as tunnels and bridges, and has great influence in the Swedish civil engineering industry. They claim that the key to enhance the use and development of BIM is to raise their demands towards the rest of the industry. Transitioning from a drawing-based to an object-based approach will affect the entire industry. The idea is to be able to handle all the information in 3D-data and the BIM concept throughout the entire life cycle of the construction. To reach that ambition, the already-built constructions need to be represented as 3D-models in terms of being a part of the BIM concept. Terrestrial laser scanning is a method of measurement that is being used worldwide for 3D-documentation of complex objects and environments. The result of a scan is comprehensive with low uncertainty of measurement; therefore the method is well suited to assist in the creation of 3D-models. The primary aim of the study is to examine the differences between 3D-models, depending on the measurement method that was used to create them. An analysis of the current situation in these fields-of-study was made by a literature study to place this thesis in its proper context. Although the two 3D-models were the same exact object, they were created using two different methods of measurement. The models were compared to identify the differences between them. The study unveils that the choice of measurement method influences the results of the 3D-model, where the terrestrial laser scanning method could help to improve the quality of the final product. On the other hand, there were areas where the two methods of measurement could complement each other for even better results.

Full textKvalitetsbristkostnader beskriver vad avsaknaden av kvalitet kostar en organisation. Genom att förstå vad begreppet är och hur det kan översättas till en specifik organisation skapas förutsättningarna för att eliminera dessa samt på så sätt spara upp till 30 % av organisationens omsättning. Studien har genomförts på ABB Industrial Automation Control Technologies i Västerås inom koncernen ABB AB. ABB Industrial Automation Control Technologies har en förståelse om vad kvalitetsbristkostnader är och därmed har ett problemområde presenterats. Detta arbete har inriktats på att visualisera problemet samt hur det skulle kunna angripas. Examensarbetets syfte är, ”Avsikten med detta arbete är att generera underlag kring hantering av ritningar samt att även föreslå åtgärder som kan förbättra denna hantering. Syftet är även att bidra till säkerställandet av att ha en process där leverantörer alltid producerar efter rätt och senaste upplaga av ritningar.” Processen ritningshantering har visualiserats baserat på information från intervjuer, observationer samt baserat på sekundärdata som information om befintliga rutiner och styrande dokument. Därefter har brister inom denna ritningshanteringsprocess identifierats samt medföljande orsaker åskådliggjorts. Studiens resultat är en processkartläggning med identifierade brister och orsakerna till bristerna. En kravspecifikation har tagits fram som skapar grunden till förbättringsarbetet som ABB Industrial Automation Control Technologies står inför.

Full textThe year was 1942 when the properties Löfstad accrue to Svenska riddarhuset and Östergötlands Fornminnes‐ och Museiförening (current Östergötlands länsmuseum). The last owner, Emily Piper, donated the property and wish to preserve the castle in order to sensible up it pursues the general public that one “ really typical examples of a noble home on an old Swedish goods during 1800‐century”. Today, Linköpings skogstjänst carried out the property that apart from castle consist some thousand hectares land‐ and woodland and 39 residential building and amount of economy buildings. The majority farms are today lease to farmers but to the turn of the year comes a farm, Aspa Gård back to the manager that takes over the responsibility for leasing and maintain. In my work I have produce drawings and maintaining plans for three residential building that is located on Aspa Gård. The houses have been measured up both inside and outside to get basis to blueprints. For the maintaining plans, the houses have also been inspected. On the basis of the results of the´inspection can the housesʹ condition be known and maintaining plans to be established. The housesʹ maintain has been inadequate during many years and that it is needed extensive renovate on the houses. The most important to deal with is the ceilings, facades and bathrooms.

Full textToday the building industry faces changes in regard to the establishment of building modules. A precedent was set in court which stipulates that building permits may now be required for the formation of building modules at construction sites. The permits entail a requirement of building documents for the base and modules. At present Deje trä is a leading production company of “Dejegrunden”, a base for building modules. The demand for documents require changes to be made to the product´s existing documentation, new strength calculations in accordance with the new euro codes, EC05 and new detailed construction drawings are needed. In conjunction with the new documentation a product quality assessment is done to assess the possibility of executing a P-marking of the product. The marking is a strong indicator within the building industry as it puts great demand on the production process, material and safety when used. The assembly instructions are made to ensure the users’ and the company’s liability when in use. The flexibility of the module base means that a variety of modules can be established and in turn a variety of calculations is needed. The result indicates that the maximum capacity of a single support, which is 90 kN. The drawings and instructions were made in accordance with the standards of the building industry and previous setups of the company. The documentation of the work is deemed sufficient for an execution of quality labeling of the product.

Full textSaving time and resources is something that is very important in construction business today. The faster a work can be done the more money a company can make. In this degree project the authors have looked at the process of handling construction drawings in different parts of the construction industry. To be able to find the construction drawings in an easier way and not have to sort out old construction drawings when new arrive is something that may simplify and speed up the process. The authors have looked at the application DDR – Database for Details and Drawings, which they consider could simplify the process of handling construction drawings. During this degree project, interviews have been done with different people in the construction industry to see possibilities of improvement and benefits of the application DDR. The result of the degree project shows that this application would make the most difference on construction sites and within management of buildings since these are the ones that handle construction drawings on a daily basis. Application DDR can shorten the time used for handling of construction drawings by approximately a 25% decrease according to the interviewed at the construction sites; this would make a great difference in the daily work. If they only use digital construction drawings, the needs to sort out old construction drawings when new ones arrived, will be eliminated and more time can be saved. To do as much of a difference as possible on today’s market the improvements that have emerged during the interviews have to be developed to the application DDR. As it is today there are many features that are missing which make that the construction companies won’t use the application due to the lack of possibility to add details on their own. Management of buildings considers that there are several important functions such as measuring and drawing that are missing to use the application DDR. Within calculation engineering and municipalities there is no future for the application DDR. Education at college and in the production of construction sites consider that zooming and panning must be made simpler, despite this they are interested in using the program DDR.

Full textThis bachelor thesis is about in what range BIM or other digital solutions are being used today during management phase and also map out curtain problem areas. Management phase has fallen back in the technical development if you compare them with other parts of the building process. There is still a lot of 2D-drawings being used during management phase.Interviews has been made with both managers and consultants. With these interviews and study of literature a mapping of the BIM-usage has been made. Witch has shown that the 3D-model that was made earlier in the building process was seldom used during management phase. In fact none of the companies that was interviewed was using the 3D-model. This is a huge problem because much of the information that was once made is lost. The reason for this is either that the managers doesn’t have competence enough to use the model or that the question isn’t prioritized because the managers can’t see any economic value in the model.If the management phase want to develop in the field of technology there has to be specific programs for managers available. There’s also a lot of older people working in the field of management and the computer skills are very different between the coworkers. This is bad from a BIM-perspective because the technical competence is lacking. Which can be explained because the management phase isn’t prioritized at the Universities.

Full textThis Degree project summarizes how it is to work in the CAD program Revit Architecture. This was done because AQ Arkitekter in Eskilstuna is interested in how Revit works. Especially compared to AutoCad which is the software they are using today. Will their work become more efficient with the new software?
The starting point was to find out how it is to work with Revit when you only used AutoCAD Architecture before. The purpose with this Degree project was to investigate whether it was possible to provide all the drawings required in a construction project that AQ Arkitekter normally produce in AutoCAD.
Most of the study was done on my own with some help of outside contacts. Drawings from an already completed construction projects were produced in Revit to really see if it was possible to obtain the required drawings. The final results were a summary of the Revit features and how to generate drawings. The two programs were compared to see the disadvantages and advantages of the programs. In the end, the Degree project did become a complete report, which gives an overview of Revit and its functions.

Full textI denna rapport, skriven av Måns Ridzén och Jonas Stenberg, presenteras exa- mensarbetet som genomfördes våren 2012. Författarna träffades redan 2008 då de började sina studier vid Uppsala Universitet. Sedan dess har de genomfört flera projekt, både inom och utanför universitetet. Studien bygger på tesen ”fel ritningshantering”. Problemet är något som berör hela branschen och som kos- tar det svenska samhället många miljoner varje år. Stöd för denna tes finns i ti- digare genomförd forskning som berör slöseri och kommunikation inom byg- gindustrin. Både kostnaderna bakom slöseriet och onödig kommunikationen kan kopplas till felaktig ritningshantering. Tesen delas in i tre huvudgrupper för att göra det tydligare för både författare och deltagare i studien, dessa huvudgrupper är: fel version, felavläst och felri- tat. Med dessa tre huvudgrupper som utgångspunkt ställs fyra frågor; vem, vad, varför och kostnad? För att besvara dessa frågor söks information genom tre kanaler; projektörer, tjänstemän inom produktion och hantverkare. Resulta- tet skiljer sig mellan de olika kanalerna, d.v.s. att de olika aktörerna i byggpro- cessen har olika bilder över hur verkligheten ser ut. Dock så är det vissa punk- ter där alla aktörer är överens. Efter att resultatet samlats in så analyserades det. Analysprocessen har som mål att besvara de fyra frågor som ställdes i början av studien. Flera exempel på fel observeras i studien. Ett exempel berör pålning, där fel ritning användes och resulterade i en omkostnad på över 188 000kr. Slutsatsen är att fel ritningshan- tering kostar branschen miljoner, om inte miljarder, årligen. Dessa kostnader döljs ofta inom budgeten för produktion, även om de uppkommit redan under projekteringsstadiet. Författarna ger flera rekommendationer till åtgärder för att begränsa dess kostnader. Rekommendationerna berör b.l.a. vikten av att lyfta fram dolda kostnader i ljuset, samt att anpassa ritningen efter rätt ändamål. Rapporten gräver djupt ner i ett känsligt ämne och lyckas på ett lättsamt sätt presentera hur verkligheten ser ut idag. Fortsatta studier inom ämnet är en nödvändighet om Sveriges byggindustri ska behålla kontroll över den svenska marknaden i en allt mer globaliserad värld.

Driften av NOHAB-dieseln, som används som generator, har varit problemfylld med ständiga och oförklarliga stopp. Det larmsystem som installerades av Oskarshamnsvarvet var högst bristfälligt. Larmsystemet var personfarligt då det var byggd på 230volt, dessutom var larmpunkterna byggda i serie med endast en stoppindikering. Avsaknaden av elritningar över systemet gjorde att bristerna i larmsystemet inte kunde felsökas. Dessutom fanns ingen indikering i kontrollrummet utan endast lokalt vid NOHAB-dieseln.
Vi har gjort en nyinstallation av larmsystemet på mer personsäkra 24VDC, med samtliga larmpunkter parallella och med tillhörande indikering på panel, både lokalt vid NOHAB-dieseln samt i pulpeten för god översyn av systemet. Vidare har vi gjort kompletta ritningar över systemet för en god överblick och möjlighet att felsöka.
I rapporten beskriver vi tillvägagångssättet för problemlösningar som uppstått under arbetet med att skapa ett fungerande larmsystem.
School ship M/S Calmare Nyckel, owned and operated by the Maritime University of Kalmar is used for training by both prospective merchant marine officer as well as engineers. The operation of NOHAB-diesel, used as a generator, has been problematic with frequent and unexplained stop. The alarm system installed by the Oskarshamn Shipyard was highly dysfunctional. The alarm system was dangerous to personnel when it was built on 230volt, furthermore were the alarm points constructed in series with only a stop indication. The lack of electrical drawings of the system made it impossible to trouble shot the deficiencies in the alarm system. Moreover, there was no alarm indication in the control room but only locally at the NOHAB-diesel.
We have made a new installation of the alarm system with the higher personal safety 24VDC, with all the alarms parallel with the corresponding indication on the panel, both locally at the NOHAB-diesel and on the control table for good review of the system. Furthermore, we have made complete drawings of the system enabling a good overview and the ability to troubleshoot.In this report we describe the approach to the problem solutions that have emerged in the process of creating a functioning alarm system.

We have concentrated on finding and solving the interior design of the joint surfaces. The proposal consists of CAD- drawings.
The student area is intended to be placed on the Brände udde, which is part of Campusvision 2005.

Full textAn engineering firm which handles and constructs drawings needs well defined routines and structures which should be homogeneous through all the different departments. A common drawing system results in better quality and cooperation between the departments.
SAS Technical Services (STS) did not have a common drawing system which had led to development of different routines in the different regions and departments. Requested was development of new routines regarding engineering drawings, such as drawing numbering structure, revision and subscription routines, which standards to adhere to, custom made drawing templates and management of the drawings with belonging documents.
Each requested task was broken into minor tasks and analyzed. Solutions by different leading engineering companies were used for comparison and ideas.
All the tasks were collected and organized in one single document which is the result of the thesis; a drawing instruction.
The drawing instruction will after a learning phase ease the work for the STS engineers as all necessary information can be found in one single place. Also, work with contractors will be time-saving as the instruction can be handed out for guidance.
En ingenjörsfirma som hanterar och skapar mängder med ritningar behöver väldefinierade rutiner och strukturer som är homogena genom hela bolaget. Ett gemensamt ritningssystem resulterar i bättre kvalitet och bättre samarbete mellan de olika avdelningarna.
SAS Technical Services (STS) hade inte ett gemensamt ritningssystem vilket har lett till att de olika avdelningarna har utvecklat olika rutiner rörande ritningar. Önskemålet var utvecklande av nya rutiner rörande ingenjörsritningar såsom ritningsnumreringsstruktur, revisions- och prenumerationsrutiner, vilka standarder som skall följas, egna ritningsmallar och skötsel av ritningar med tillhörande dokument.
Varje önskad uppgift blev uppdelad i mindre uppgifter och analyserad. Lösningar från olika ledande ingenjörsbolag användes för jämförelse och idéer.
Alla uppgifterna samlades och organiserades i ett och samma dokument som är resultatet av detta arbete; en ritningsinstruktion.
Ritningsinstruktionen kommer efter en inlärningsfas underlätta arbetet för ingenjörerna på STS eftersom all nödvändig information nu finns på ett och samma ställe. Arbeten med entreprenörer vill också bli underlättande eftersom instruktionen kan delas ut för vägledning.

Full textStockholm is a growing city and to satisfy the need of housing that expansion entails requires that existing properties are developed and given new, better adapted purposes. It is particularly important to develop the properties that are located in attractive areas with ongoing urban development or good opportunities for new urban development. This report discusses the development of Vandenbergh 9, an office complex from the early 1970s to modern housing. The report results in proposals documents how the interior design might look like. The proposal complies with all the laws, rules and recommendations today are for construction work in Sweden. The result is five individual floor plans, but to encourage the sustainable and rational construction, a major focus was on modular construction. The report show how a property in this scale can be developed and obtain a new purpose.

Full textSölvesborg is a city under expansion, people are attracted by a rural idyll close to the sea and the municipality's goal is to increase the population from 16,000 to 20,000 until year 2020. The municipality owns the property Hydro which is located in the central parts of Sölvesborg adjacent to the train station. Today the property Hydro is used as a parking space, the municipality is interested to change the property. They want to make it to a new central hub in Sölvesborg, connecting the railway station and extend the center strip. Our work is to create concept drawings for the property Hydro, These concept drawings are based on analyzes regarding the context of the city and the city’s citizens. This has resulted in a building that has a larger commercial area in the ground floor and above the ground floor are ten floors with four apartments on each floor. The guiding principle for the design has been to try to create a new landmark for Sölvesborg, bringing in the modern architecture on a larger scale in the old small scale society in a natural way.

Full textThe fishermen are constantly looking for something new. As a company, specialized in this profession, it is necessary to be able to offer the newest thing within fishing. A new kind of fishing lure that creates attention among the fish is an innovative new and welcomed product among fishermen’s. The thesis work is carried out as a project with a project plan containing a time chart, risk management, organization and file management. The phases of the project consist of planning, research, product specification, concept generation, evaluation, construction, design and patent application. The concept was developed with a product specification in mind. This specification is a list of the users needs and preferences, as well as requirements from the cooperation partner. The research focused on the users need, to determine what the customer really wants. The result from the research was that the user wants something innovative and easy to use. Idea generation utilized tools like 6-3-5, generating entire concepts as well as brainstorming. These tools were used in concept generation, but also during the work with the patent applications. The first mentioned tool was used to generate possibilities for how and what the product will do. The second mentioned tool was used to identify what those within this profession think would be a successful fishing lure. The third tool was used to find potential solutions for a specific issue. Evaluation of the ideas resulted in nine different kinds of concepts. The final concept consists of a fishing lure head (jig head) with implemented module that illuminates when in contact with water. This final decision was made after presentation and discussion with the partner. With a patent application, the project plan and the report were corrected to version 2.0. Sketches were frequently used to through the project to test ideas and combinations. Prototypes of the chosen concept were made to obtain additional information on design and function.
