The trans-boundary area between the Europe Union and other countries is highly susceptible to changes in water quality and variations in the potential pollution load that could influence its eco-systems significantly. The Neris (Viliya) River is one of the biggest surface water bodies in Lithuania and Belarus with an ecologically important area protected by international legislation. The study was aimed at evaluating the impacts of integrated pollution on water quality of the Neris River taking into account different storm-water flows and ecological scenarios. Abundant taxa in these sediments include polychaete worms (e.g., the polychaete Nereis succinea), mollusks (e.g., clam Parastarte

The article discusses the influence and main causes of nutrient compounds in surface waters. The article is aimed at investigating changes in nutrients – nitrogen and its compounds in the river Šventoji. The samples of analysis were collected in the town of Anykščiai in order to assess the influence of the stream of the Anykšta and waste water treatment. The largest concentrations of nutrients were identified from waste water treatment; however, it had not exceeded the MAC, except for February 2012. The conducted analysis has shown that the river Šventoji belongs to the class of a high ecologi

Abstract Neria cibaria (Linnaeus, 1761) is a micropezid fly species distributed in the western part of the Palaearctic Region in areas where the habitat is suitable, such as moist woodlands, streams and rivers. The species was recorded, for the first time in Türkiye, from two different provinces, Bartın and Sakarya, located on the Black Sea coast of Türkiye. Originally this fly was photographed without collection and identified from the photographs taken. Afterwards, five specimens were collected in the same areas and identified under a stereo microscope using relevant literature. These record

Abstract. Optical 3D reconstruction in environments with complex light paths such as water-air surface interactions continues to be challenging, particularly due to the inherent refraction effects. These effects compromise assumptions taken in standard photogrammetric methods like the traditional Multi-View Stereo and newer approaches like Neural Radiance Fields (NeRFs). Addressing these limitations is critical for monitoring coastal and riparian ecosystems, for flood-risk modeling, as climate change intensifies river flooding, and in general to satisfy increasing demands for 3D topo-bathymetr

Weekly samples were taken in the intertidal zone at l'Anse à l'Orignal (in the St. Lawrence River estuary) to evaluate changes in density, growth, and mortality of Nereis virens recruits in three different types of sediments. Egg laying, which started on 14 May 1986, lasted 10 days and this spacing out probably explains the staggered arrival of larvae at the three sites. We have studied the increase in the number of segments in field specimens, from the nectochaete stage (3 segments) to the 13-segment stage.
