Abstract:
Archie comics have long faced pressures to confront social issues and produce more diverse, inclusive narratives. With Riverdale, the Archie-verse has newly asserted its cultural relevance by simultaneously embracing and revising a nostalgia for earlier Archie comics and characters. This essay explores how the social media paratexts of the Riverdale actors negotiate between the feminist aspirations of the television show and the less progressive politics of earlier Archie comics. Examining these transmedial paratexts, it demonstrates how the beloved Archie characters from earlier comics become newly embodied and vocalized by the actors who portray them in Riverdale, thus inviting comics readers and television fans to embrace a new feminist vision for the Archie-verse while also opening it up to postfeminist critiques.

Abstract:
This study was designed to refine The Riverdale Hospital's Home and Community Skills Assessment, and to develop a set of standards for it. This assessment includes a self-administered, objective, functional living skills assessment designed specifically for persons who have had traumatic closed head injuries. It is divided into seven functional living skill areas (FLS): Time Management, Kitchen Skills, Community Resources, Health, Money Management, Travel, and Vocation. Individual assessment results include partial scores in each of these functional areas, a total FLS score, and a seven component cognitive profile: Planning Skills, Ability to generate thought, Judgement, Work Speed, Ability to follow written instructions, the Amount of structure required to complete a task, and Writing legibility. Fifty normal subjects (those who have never suffered a brain injury or psychiatric disorder) aged 18–70 completed the assessment. Forty percent had post-secondary education; fifty percent were male. Data analysis consisted of removing or revising test questions when 80% of the normal subject group did not respond in accordance with previously established correct responses. Means and standard deviations were then established for each FLS area. Statistical analysis indicated: 1) no significant difference with respect to gender or age, and 2) a significant difference with respect to education level of the FLS areas only.

Abstract:
The Riverdale Hospital, Toronto, has developed a comprehensive and well-documented bereavement support program for survivors of cancer deaths. This study describes the program and its execution and presents a detailed program evaluation. Bereaved survivors who had participated in the program for one year were asked by way of a mailed questionnaire to evaluate various aspects of the program and the facilitation of their grief by the volunteers. The results showed the bereavement support program was beneficial to the survivors and very much appreciated. The findings are discussed and recommendations made for expansion and improvement of the program.

Abstract:

Abstract:
This research aimed to analyze and classify the function of the six main characters’ phatic expressions related to Jason Blossom’s death in the Riverdale TV Series Season 1 using Jumanto's theory (2017), namely breaking the silence, starting a conversation, making small talk, gossiping, keeping the talk, expressing solidarity, creating harmony, offering comfort, expressing empathy, expressing friendship, expressing respect, and expressing politeness. The result shows that 195 data of phatic function are found in all types. Keeping the talk is the most used by the six main characters with 61 data because the characters want to maintain the conversation to get information about Jason Blossom's death. This research also classified the response type and analyzed whether their responses to those phatic expressions can make the conversations stop or continue. When the conversations can be continued and maintained, the characters could get more information about Jason Blossom’s death and even murderer.

Abstract:
Historians of public housing have recently drawn attention to the ways in which housing designs are not merely reflections of societal attitudes, but rather, form part of the dominant ideological and political agenda. This article takes its cue from these insights by exploring an early Canadian state-assisted housing venture, the Toronto Housing Company (THC). The purposes, development, layout and internal design of Riverdale Courts, the major site of the THC endeavour, evolved through the interplay of class-specific and gendered practices, revealing reformers' recognition of the desire to rectify a perceived crisis in social order. The concentration on the quality and internal ordering of workers' homes went beyond purely economic grounds: the ideological role housing could play in regulating social consent was also a pivotal concern. This early case of social reform represents one facet of the state's and the reform movement's increasing engagement with the daily lives of workers through the attempt to shape a proficient, contented and internally-divided workforce.

Abstract:
Single-year hay alfalfas (Medicago sativa L.), berseem (Trifolium alexandrinum L.) and red clovers (Trifolium pratense L.), chickling vetch (Lathyrus sativus L.) and lentil (Lens culinaris Medik.) were evaluated for rotational yield and N benefits to the following first-year wheat (Triticum aestivum L.) and second-year barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) crops. Field experiments were initiated in 1997 and 1998 on a Riverdale silty clay soil at Winnipeg, Manitoba. Yield and N content of the following wheat crop were increased following legumes compared to wheat following a canola control. Wheat yield and N content averaged 2955 kg ha–1 and 76.1 kg ha–1, respectively, following the chickling vetch and lentil, 2456 kg ha–1 and 56.4 kg ha–1 following single-year hay legumes, compared with 1706 kg ha–1 and 37.9 kg ha–1 following canola. Non-dormant alfalfas (dormancy rating of eight or greater) contributed to larger grain yields than the dormant alfalfas only in the first year of each experiment. The chickling vetch and lentil provided similar or higher subsequent crop yields and N content for 2 yr compared to a canola control or fallow treatment. This study shows that some increase in yield can be achieved by using a single-year alfalfa hay crop instead of fallow; however, exclusive green manuring of chickling vetch and lentil crops can produce the most increase in yield and N uptake in subsequent crops. Key words: Alfalfa (single-year), legumes (annual), green manure, nitrogen, cropping system

Abstract:
A continuous blood volume monitoring (CBVM) device (Inline Diagnostics, Riverdale, USA) was used to study response to prescribed ultrafiltration during haemodialysis (HD) in 66 stabilised HD patients. Fifty percent of patients showed the expected linear decrease in BV right from the beginning of HD (group 1), 32% exhibited no decrease at all (group 2), while eighteen percent formed the transient group 3 which showed a plateau of varying length after which a decrease occurred. The correct setting of dry weight was verified through evaluation of the ratio of extracellular fluid volume to total body water (VEC/TBW) in 26 patients by means of whole body multifrequency impedometry MFI (Xitron Tech., San Diego, USA) and through measurement of the Vena Cava Inferior diameter (VCID) pre and post HD (in 6 and 5 patients from groups 1 and 3 and from group 2, respectively). The mean VEC/TBW in groups 1 and 3 was 0.56 pre and 0.51 post HD as compared to 0.583 and 0.551 in group 2. VCID decreased on average by 14.1% in groups 1 and 3 but remained stable in group 2. Both findings thus confirmed inadequately high estimation of dry weight. Since CBVM is extremely easy to perform it can be used as a method of choice in detecting inadequately high prescribed dry weight. The status of the cardiovascular system must always be considered before final judgement is made.

The median number of tobacco incidents per episode in foreign productions was as follows: Amazon’s ‘The Marvellous Mrs Maisel’ (87.5, IQR 62.0–116.0) and Netflix’s ‘The Crown’ (29.0, 18.0–36.0) were higher than Indian productions: Netflix’s ‘Sacred Games’ (9.0, 0.5–14.5) and Amazon’s ‘Mirzapur’ (7.0, 4.0–11.0) (p=0.84). Tobacco incidents per hour ranged from 0 (Bodyguard, Riverdale, 13 Reasons Why) to 106.1 (The Marvellous Mrs Maisel). Seven of 10 series had tobacco imagery and none were compliant with the Rules.ConclusionContrary to Section 5 of India’s Cigarettes and Other Tobacco Products Act, its Rules are not being complied with by the streaming platforms. US-produced streaming media contains more tobacco incidents than Indian-produced media. There is an urgent need for better enforcement of existing Rules on streaming platforms in India, and modernisation of the WHO Framework Convention on Tobacco Control, Article 13 guidelines to account for new streaming platforms to protect youth from tobacco imagery globally.

Full text
Abstract:
The honeycomb design of Fasoulas (1973) and the independent culling methods of McVetty and Evans (1980) were used to select among spaced plants of two generations (F2 and F4) of two crosses of faba bean (Vicia faba L.) for yield potential. Single plants were planted in a hexagon pattern with 60 cm interplant spacing for the honeycomb selection method and in a grid pattern with 60 cm interplant spacing for the independent culling selection method, on Riverdale silty loam soil at Winnipeg in 1983. Three selected groups per cross and generation were developed using honeycomb, independent culling and random selection. The randomly selected population served as a check against which to evaluate the effectiveness of the honeycomb and independent culling selection methods. Response to selection, as measured by the differences in mean yields among the three selection groups determined by replicated yield trials of derived F3 or F5 families indicated that neither selection method was effective. Response to selection, as measured by the number of high yielding families retained by either honeycomb or independent culling methods compared with the number retained by random selection also indicated that neither selection procedure was effective. Correlations between F2 and F4 single plant characters and plot characters on corresponding F3 or F5 families were low and generally nonsignificant. Heritability of single plant yield ranged from zero in most cases to 0.44 for one cross, generation and selection method. Heritabilities for both total dry matter and harvest index were not significantly different from zero. It is concluded that the response to selection is too small for either selection method to warrant use in faba bean breeding programs.Key words: Vicia faba L., early generation selection, heritability, faba bean

Abstract:
In Ireland, Irish step dance has been a national identity for a long time. For many people in the world, Riverdance was their first impression about Irish step dance. It brought a boom and a renaissance of Irish step dance. In the twenty-first century, more than twenty years after the Riverdance boom, have people’s perception of Riverdance and Irish culture changed? Thus, this essay explores the experiences of Irish dancing and culture of former Riverdance dancers and audiences in 2021.
