Full textAim of this work is to analyse the political and literary experience of Maurice Blanchot in the 1930; particularly focusing on the different forms of his writings and on the contexts in which those took place. In the first part, I propose an overview on the critical debate about the intellectual engagement of young Blanchot: on this purpose, I investigate the various reactions and opinions expressed by French and international scholars, since 1940s until recent times. In the second part, then, I focuses on the generations context - known as "non-conformism" -, in which young Blanchot's experience develops, and I present the highly topical issues discussed in those years. Later on, I propose a genetic reconstruction of the views, the sensibilities and the concerns of those groups, which Blanchot was affiliated to. The third part deeply investigates the ideology of the writings and the political activity of young Blanchot, which were strictly related to the project of such political and literary movements. I concentrate on the theoretical and practical attempt to create a new idea of revolution, highlighting the concept that politics and literature were thought an inseparable for the realization of such project. The last part more specifically focuses on the texts of young Blanchot, by juxtaposing two different kinds of analysis: a rhetoric and psycho-sociolinguistic one and a historic-philosophical one

Full textAs part of an investigation of revolutionary identity in the XIX century, declined on the activists involved in the Paris Commune, it was to select those life-stories written and published by the Communards as part of their political activity, and thus to pose the problem of the relationship between autobiographical practice and revolution, clarify the conditions of passage au récit, the autobiographical choice and the mise en intrigue of the individual experiences and revolution. This research thus provides an inquiry of the autobiographical practices within the practices of political activism, or more specifically on the relationship between autobiographical narratives and revolution. I analyse the way in which the revolutionaries told their identity in public, the reasons why they had done and what they spreaded in terms of lifestyles and beliefs. As revolutionaries, the autobiography becomes a source and a part of what they considered their revolutionary path, the narrative of what at that time they believed to communicate to the public as their own narrative identity. The research is divided into three parts. In the first chapter I analyse the biographies, or rather a small group among the mass of published biographies of Communards after the Commune. These biographical narratives help address one of the fundamental conditions for the passage au récit which will be appeared only later. The second and third chapters are dedicated to two autobiographical practices of different nature: the autobiographical trilogy of Jules Vallès (1879, 1881, 1886) and Memoirs of Louise Michel (1886).

Full textThe Fourth Industrial Revolution and the technological evolution in place are originating significant changes in culture, society and economy. Rapid transformations in the world of work revealed the need of involving the main subjects in charge of driving both organizational and professional change toward an engaging and collaborative research path, able to make clear and describe different ways to face the experiences connected with the undergoing changes. Within this context, the thesis aims at contributing in outlining the new work culture emerging from some innovative practices, present in the new educational and training ecosystem. The scientific research, started in December 2019 and concluded in September 2020, is articulated in four questions: How is the context in which we live and work changing? How is the work culture undergoing transformations? Which Drivers do facilitate its understanding? Are the elements of the work culture useful also in the light of a new radical and unexpected transformation? The answers intend to provide some points for reflection and a first practical guidance for all those who are directly involved in the creation of new learning solutions, aimed at transferring value to citizens and workers of tomorrow.

Full textThe thesis aims to examine two types of social song in the nineteenth century, and in particular around 1848. The study of the song in the Italian and French context is analyzed through two lines of research. In the first part of the thesis, through the concept of sociability, attention is focused on the spread of the music production. The archival research, based on police documents, puts in relevance the sites of song diffusion (such as streets, tavern, cafés-concerts, the popular music associations and the goguettes) and the different uses of the song (the song as a form of oral expression but also as a writing on the wall and protest leaflet). In the second part the author conducts a detailed study of musical texts to highlight the different themes, images, figures of speech and some important aspects about politics and thoughts of artisans-workers to emphasize the differences of the idea of nation between the two contexts considered. It will be clear the role of songs as a place of emancipation and worker’s claim. The point of view adopted allows the author to consider the song in its entirety, both as “text” and as “social practice”. These operations allow to probe the social function of the song within the popular culture and its importance as a form of expression and vector of politicization. The author presents an international historical overview of studies on the popular song, paying particular attention to the new approaches came from the social and cultural history. The study of social song is a heuristic research tool, not only in a national context, but especially for its comparative function.

Full textThe thesis “Marseille during the French Revolution (1789-1792). Historical mapping test from GIS” provides a spatial and cartographic reinterpretation of the main events that took place in the Phocean city between 1789 and 1792. In this research, the traditional tools of historiography, such as the study of archival and bibliographical sources, integrated with the use of GIS technology and spatial analysis, offer an innovative approach to the most important events of the Revolution; it reconstructs the commercial vitality of the city, the military role of the bourgeois patrols, the political weight of the Marseilles federalists and the various insurrections that marked the city during the first two years of the French Revolution

Full textThis thesis investigates the relation between different principles of legitimate authority in Iran after the 1979 revolution. Weber’s tripartite classification of authority (charismatic, traditional, rational-legal) is used as a tool for investigating ayatollah Khomeini’s charismatic revolution and the ensuing phase of institutionalization which culminated in the establishment of an Islamic republic. The first part of the thesis deals with the concept of authority, both in the Western and in the Iranian tradition. With specific reference to the Iranian context, the two elements that make up Iranian doctrine of authority, pre-Islamic and Shiite, are analyzed. The research then focuses on the analysis of the revolution: ayatollah Khomeini’s authority, in both its political and religious elements, is investigated. The dissonant institutionalization of the 1979-1989 decade is then examined, leading to a reflection on the difficulties of the Khamenei era. Among these, the growing concern about the future of Shiite traditional religious authority, marjayat, and, though indirectly, the growing doubts about the future of the Khomeinist doctrine of velayat-e faqih.

Full textThis work examines the political aspects of Friedrich Gogarten’s theology during the time span of the Weimar Republic. The research seeks two fundamental goals. In the first place, it aims at demonstrating the discontinuity within Gogarten’s political theology, whose well-known conservative outcomes, close to Nazism, in the last years of the republic are generally considered by scholarship as implicit in his earlier thought. An in-depth analysis of Gogarten’s production, with particular attention to the socio-cultural context, will rather show that until the two-year period ‘27/’28 his political thought presents critical elements against authoritarian political power and new right-wing ideologies, that he will embrace only later. The second aim is to find the causes of this evolution of his thought. The research hypothesis is that it matured on the ground of Gogarten’s relationship with the Lutheran church of Thuringia. The conservative ideas first embraced by the theologian brought him to develop an increasingly reactionary vision of politics and society during the last problematic years of the Weimar Republic.

Full textThe thesis aims to study the mechanisms of liberal politicization in the continental part of the Kingdom of the Two Sicilies, from the collapsing of the Napoleonic Empire in 1815 to the acceleration of the Italian national construction in the middle 1850s. By crossing the administrative documentation, the liberals’ personal writings and their political productions, this political movement can be identificated with the patriotical opposition to the restored monarchy of the Bourbons. It constitutes a reticulated and disparate society of opponents, more anti-absolutist than ideologically liberal, who used to lean on local political practises to contest the centralized power instituted by the French occupation monarchy (1806-1815) and maintained by Ferdinand IV after 1815. On the basis of five regional observatories (the capital, the two Citerior and Ulterior Principates and the Calabrian provinces of Cosenza and Reggio), chosen for their representativity towards the political structures of the kingdom, the thesis wants to enlighten the structures and the rhythms of liberal politicization in the long period of the lungo Risorgimento, beyond the two revolutions of 1820-1821 and 1848 particularly studied by historiography. Through a chronological approach, we will question the links between the Neapolitan liberal movement with the European forms of « liberalism », the permanence of political actors, the tension between local and national political spaces and the difficult appropriation of the Italian national construction, which becomes more precise after the 1848 revolutions

Full textA study about Jacques-André Naigeon (1735-1810) could only be based on an biographical reconstruction’s attempt, in order to present the publisher-philosopher in an integral way. This dissertation is designed to develop on several topics in order to mix Naigeon's life with some "cultural" events that affected his life. Each chapter proposes the development of one of the founding themes of the Enlightenment, trying to build a dialogue between the existence of the philosopher and the interpretations provided by the most advanced historiography. The studies mention Jacques-André Naigeon giving the image of a character entirely subordinated to his two tutelary gods, Diderot and d'Holbach, while, instead, on closer inspection, Naigeon is not completely confused with the figures of his master and his "colleague", and his personal thinking (especially his atheism and his materialism) is not uninteresting.Throughout his life, Naigeon was an encyclopedist; “éditeur”; he even tried to earn political credit, at the debut of the Revolution, by writing a furious writing against some concepts of the Déclaration des droits de l'homme and sending it to the first Assemblée Nationale; he assumed the role of chief editor of the Philosophie ancienne et moderne’s section of the Encyclopédie Méthodique; at the end, he became a member of the Institut de France in 1795. He frequented many prominent personalities, so that he could thus feel all the disappointment of an intellectual who was integrated into the cultural system but at the same time was completely neutralized. The silence and secrets of his later years are far more significant and full of meaning than what one might think
Thesis, Paris 1, 2016. http://www.theses.fr/2016PA01H041.
Full textThe research aims to explore the figure of Lequeu in the cultural and architectural panorama of the French Revolution, proposing a critical distance from the famous drawings named Figures lascives. Our analysis focused on what constitutes the core of his graphic work: the numbered drawings of Architecture Civile, that Lequeu drafts from 1778 and now conserved at the Cabinet des estampes of Bibliothèque nationale de France (Paris). Visionary in its attempt to create a new conception of architectural drawing, Lequeu developed the character of its architecture, where the most of eighteenth century's contradictions are concentrated. lnevitably attracted to the modern, it has systematically horror oh that, and turns his eyes to an idealized past, dreamed but elusive port. lt is in this juxtaposition of elements, which of place of Lequeu: no architect before him has tried such a great mix of different interests and skills. The link with the art of his time, who discovers, for the first lime, the psychological introspection, describes the role of Lequeu in the history of European architecture. The drawings of Architecture Civile interpret both the anguish of an artist struggling with the old, and the modernity of the French technical culture of the eighteenth century

Full textThe thesis aims to answer the question 'could the Lebanese Intifadha al-Iqtad have been predicted?' In order to do so, it first of all tries to define the political event, in terms of features, dynamic, and outcome. Secondly, it outlines the epistemological assumptions on which a scientific prediction of the future could be based. Thirdly, it puts forward a framework for foreseeing the future organised on different levels and divided into macro-categories. Finally, it analyses the Lebanese Intifadha al-Iqtad according to the proposed framework.
