Roadside phytocenoses along the right-of-way of highways in Minsk and the Minsk region are described. The identified syntaxa belong to 3 classes – Polygono-Poetea annuae, Artemisietea vulgaris and Molinio-Arrhenatheretea, including 4 orders, 5 unions, 11 associations and 2 unranked communities. The presence of identified phytocenoses (13 pcs.) reflects differences in growing conditions within the right-of-way – position in the right-of-way (ditches, slopes, etc.), intensity of soil erosion, salinization due to the use of de-icing reagents and other anthropogenic factors. Heavy metal pollution has been a problem of concern in soil ecology in recent decades. This study evaluated the physico-chemical characteristics and heavy metal contents in roadside soil samples of Tumfure main market, Gombe, Nigeria. The soil samples were collected from six different sampling points with a control sample each by handpicking, this was followed by oven-drying, ground to fine grain, and then sieved using a 2 mm mesh sieve. The pH, electrical conductivity and bulk density were carried out on the soil samples, sieve and sedimentation method were used to determine the soil texture.

A detailed study was conducted to determine the current statues of the heavy metals in roadside dusts collected from universities in Beijing, China. Twelve universities were selected and analyzed to determine the occurrence, distribution, and assessment of heavy metals in roadside dusts. The results showed that Cr, Cu, Zn, Cd and Pb exhibited higher metal concentrations than the local soil background values, indicating that the pollution may come from anthropogenic input. The assessment by Geoaccumulation Index (Igeo) indicates that Cr and Ni are at the unpolluted level, Cu and Zn at the sligh

Public roads and all their activities interact with the environment outside. The interaction was related to transportation pollutants and their recipient bodies, plants, air, and soil. The interaction of these environmental components can produce air pollution and requires prevention solutions.
