Abstract:
An <I>in vitro</I> propagation of an economic leguminous tree, <I>Acacia chundra</I>, has been standardized. Induction of bud sprout was obtained from shoot tip and nodal explants derived from <I>in vitro</I> grown plants of <I>A. chundra</I> on the Murashige and Skoog (MS) basal medium supplemented with 6-benzylaminopurine (BA) (1.0 mg/l) and 20 mg/l adenine sulfate (Ads). The rate of multiplication was obtained on MS medium supplemented with 1.5 mg/l BA, 0.01 to 0.05 mg/l (indole-3-acetic acid) IAA and 50 mg/l Ads. The multiplication rate varied from 3 to 6 shoots depending on the growth regulators used. Excised shoots were rooted on half-strength MS basal salts supplemented with 0.25 mg/l indole-3-butyric acid (IBA) or IAA and 20 g/l (w/v) sucrose after 10 to 12 days of culture. The micropropagated plantlets have been acclimatized and successfully transferred to soil.

Abstract:
This paper deals with the recent sissoo (Dalbergia sissoo Roxb.) decline in the plain land (locally called as terai) of Nepal. This study has made an attempt to find the possible causal factor of this decline. The study has made some initiative in this aspect and has made a comparative study of 30 different sissoo forest (both natural and plantation) stands. The symptoms of the sissoo decline were found to be varied. But in most of cases, the top dying of crown was found to be the most prevalent. The top dying starts from the top of the tree and progressively proceeds downwards to the stem. The leaves become yellow. Until now, it has been assumed that only the plantation forests have been affected but this study observed the sissoo decline also in natural forest sites. We analysed various components of physical soil characteristics and we did not find any correlation between the physical soil factors and the sissoo decline. We concluded from this study that the soil is not the sole responsible factor involved in the sissoo decline Furthermore, this paper discusses various aspects of the sissoo decline and possible causal factors concerned. Finally, future management strategies regarding the sissoo management are suggested.

Abstract:
Background and Aims:Attempts to explain variations in leaf parameters based solely on environmental factors, this will lead to significant errors if the plant shows substantial ontogenetic variations in leaf properties. We evaluated variations in 27 morpho-anatomical leaf traits of Dipterocarpus alatus over six architectural development stages and between axes at a given development stage under two different light conditions. Methods:An architectural analysis was conducted to distinguish precisely and objectively axis categories and developmental stages of Dipterocarpus alatus. Leaves were collected on the most recent complete growth unit on the top of the trunk and the outermost part of the middle-crown branch with branchlet and twig from trees growing under two different light conditions. Twenty two leaf traits were measured and calculated using ImageJ on images of leaf tracings and cross-sections. Stomatal density was calculated on nail varnish impression of the leaf lower surface. Four chlorophyll traits were determined. One-way ANOVA and Tukey post-hoc tests were used to determine differences between development stages and axes. The lmg relative contribution was calculated with R package relaimpo and compared with bootstrap analysis to determine ontogenetic stage, axis category or light intensity, which explained more the variations in leaf anatomy.Key results:Leaf morphology and anatomy differed strongly during ontogeny for all four axes in term of order and category under both light conditions. The axis effect was displayed at stages B, C, D and F but tend to be insignificant at stage E. Tree ontogeny explained more variations in leaf morphology and anatomy than light intensity. Axis category explained more variations in leaf morphology but not in leaf anatomy than tree ontogeny. Conclusions: Strong and significant intraspecific variations (during ontogeny and between axes) may influence the interspecific variations, and thus challenge the validity of the mean value of leaf traits between species. Tree ontogeny contributed more than light intensity in explanation of the variability in leaf morphology and anatomy both on the trunk and second axis order strongly recommends that studies on the responses of leaf anatomy to the environment need to correct for the ontogeny effect

Hairy root, a syndrome induced by Agrobacterium rhizogenes, can be a potential platform for phytochemical production. rolB on Agrobacterium rhizogenes TL-DNA is crucial for hairy root growth and phytochemical accumulation. However, how rolB affect hairy root physiology remains elusive. In this study, a split-ubiquitin based membrane yeast two-hybrid system (MYTH) was constructed to screen the possible interacting proteins of RolB in Arabidopsis thaliana. Yeast co-transformants were constructed, and the known interaction between Nt14-3-3 ωII and RolB is reproducible as a positive control for protein-protein interaction in control test. RolB can express in MYTH abundantly without strong self-activation of HIS3 reporter gene, and the screening stringency was optimized by adjusting the 3-AT concentration. The transformation efficiency reached 1.46 x 105 /μg of plasmid. Total 130 yeast transformants were found by β-galactosidase assay after two 104-scale screening reactions. Two plastid-localized protein, LIL3:1 and AT1G44920 were identified, and the β-galactosidase activity of LIL3:1 and AT1G44920 yeast candidates were as higher as positive controls. LIL3:1 has been shown to promote the biosynthesis of chlorophyll, α-tocopherol and phytol, and AT1G44920 is a transmembrane protein with unknown function. However, the RolB expression site in yeast needs verification, and the transformation efficiency should reached 106/μg of plasmid. To examine if RolB can interact with LIL3:1 and AT1G44920 in plant cell, the isolation procedure for Nicotiana tabacum hairy root protoplast were established, and the cyan fluorescent protein (CFP) expression vector for LIL3:1 and AT1G44920 were constructed. Several crucial parameters for isolation including the tissue processing, pre-treatments, enzyme ratio and incubation time have been optimized. The modified peeled method has been developed, and the yield of hairy root protoplast reached 2.02 * 105 / g of hairy root tip.

In recent years, financial robots have been the subject of fissure in the field of technology finance (FinTech). The purpose of finding and using technology and achieving investment and financial management is the goal that the financial industry is currently pursuing. However, in order to serve more customers and reduce the manpower of operations, the full programmatic investment and financial planning has become an important issue. This research hopes to study how to use the full programmatic integration of existing investment asset allocation models and machine learning methods to allocate investment assets. In response to this goal, this paper studies three kinds of machine learning LSTM, SVR, BPN, compares the accuracy of stock price prediction, compares the time required for forecasting, and so on. It is a two-programmed important parameter to facilitate the establishment of a truly feasible full-program investment financial planning plan. . The results show that the average predicted MSE, BPN = 1.9147; LSTM = 2.7146; SVR = 2.7970, but the two methods of BPN, LSTM, the error of the two sample prediction results is too large, resulting in an unreasonably high annual return. The averaging time of the model is SVR=1.1297 microseconds; BPN=419.782 microseconds; LSTM=125, 911.772 microseconds, the fastest difference is 100,000 times faster than the slowest. Combining the above two points, the SVR method is a machine learning method that can establish a full programmatic asset allocation.

Abstract:
AbstractThis study sought to investigate customer attitudes towards tipping robotic employees in bars. A convenience sample of participants who were 21 years of age or older and who had patronized a bar was recruited using Amazon’s Mechanical Turk platform. Of the 102 usable responses, only 15 participants had experienced robotic bartender service. Only 11 individuals (10.8%) in total said they would tip a robot; 10 of those were respondents who had acutally experienced robotic bartenders, representing 67% of that subsample. Participants listed efficiency and required maintenance as reasons for giving a tip to a robotic bartender. Out of 91 respondents who initially declined to tip a robotic bartender, 38 study participants (41.8%) agreed to tip if they knew that the collected funds would go to human employees. However, in the same group of respondents, only 14 (15.4%) agreed to tip in the scenario when tipping would serve as a learning experience for a robot to understand customer preferences. The rationale for not tipping included such reasoning as robots are machines that do not need extra income and cannot appreciate the gesture. This study suggests that explaining how the collected funds will be used may positively impact consumer intentions to tip a robotic bartender. This extra revenue may help offset the cost of the robot, and subsequently lower the prices of the drinks served at a robotic bar, thus making the product more affordable for a wider audience.

Abstract:
This chapter discusses the arrival of French missionaries at Kaskaskia. On a late August–early September day in 1673, two bark canoes carrying seven Frenchmen and an Indian boy ascended the Illinois River near today's Utica, Illinois. In the party were Louis Jolliet, a Canadian fur trader, and Jacques Marquette, a Jesuit missionary. These men were the first known Europeans to have navigated the Illinois River. Paddling another mile, Jolliet, Marquette, and the crew disembarked at a place the Indians called kaaskaaskinki or kaaskaaskingi and the French called Kaskaskia, a large Illinois Indian village named for the Illinois subtribe that lived at the site. Religious conversion, trade, and building alliances with the Illinois Indians who lived at Kaskaskia would become the primary reason for French interest in the Starved Rock area.

This chapter examines the regulatory and market structure concerns raised by automated financial advisors, and arrives at two conclusions. First, the principles-based regulatory approach of the 1940 Investment Advisors Act in the U.S. appears adequate and sufficiently flexible to address the new issues raised by automation, at least for now. Second, there is a pressing need to develop new mechanisms for encouraging investment robo-advisors (and financial advisors generally) to provide high quality decumulation services to their customers, because neither of the two prevailing compensation approaches—assets under management and commissions—provides sufficient incentive at present, and consumers are poorly equipped to evaluate the quality of decumulation services on their own.

Abstract:
The mechanics of air sparger systems have been primarily investigated for aqueous-based Newtonian fluids. Tilton et al. (1982) [1] describes the fluid mechanics of air sparging systems in non-Newtonian fluids as having two primary flow regions. A center region surrounding the sparger, referred to as the region of bubbles (ROB), contains upward flow due to the buoyant driving force of the rising bubbles. In an annular region, outside the ROB, referred to as the zone of influence (ZOI), the fluid flow is reversed and is opposed to the direction of bubble rise. Outside the ZOI the fluid is unaffected by the air sparger system. The flow regime in the ROB is often turbulent, and the flow regime in the ZOI is laminar; the flow regime outside the ZOI is quiescent. Tests conducted with shear thinning non-Newtonian fluid in a 34-in. diameter tank showed that the ROB forms an approximately inverted cone that is the envelop of the bubble trajectories. The depth to which the air bubbles reach below the sparger nozzle is a linear function of the air-flow rate. The recirculation time through the ZOI was found to vary proportionally with the inverse square of the sparging air-flow rate. Visual observations of the ROB were made in both water and Carbopol®. The bubbles released from the sparge tube in Carbopol® were larger than those in water.

Abstract:
The ability to predict turbine blade heat transfer is an important problem and is strongly dependant on the ability to predict the turbulent flow-field. Turbine blade internal coolant flow is often subjected to strong curvature and possibly rotational effects, two flow characteristics that make RANS modeling efforts difficult. An assessment of Large Eddy Simulation (LES) has been conducted for a flow with strong streamline curvature and rotational effects. Simulations of fully developed turbulent flow in an isothermal, smooth-wall, serpentine passage have been performed and compared to the Direct Numerical Simulation (DNS) data of Laskowski (2004). The flow is periodic in the stream-wise and span-wise directions and simulations were conducted for span-wise rotation numbers Rob = 0.0 and Rob = 0.32. The geometry has dimensions 12πδ × 2δ × 3πδ, in the stream-wise, wall-normal and span-wise directions, respectively, where δ is half the passage height. The inner radius of the bends is δ. The Reynolds number based on the bulk velocity and H = 2δ is Reb = 5600. A kinetic-energy conserving, finite-volume, collocated-mesh scheme (Felten and Lund, 2006) is applied to treat the streamwise and wall-normal directions, while Fourier collocation is used in the spanwise direction. A third-order Runge-Kutta explicit marching scheme is used to advance the solution in time and the pressure Poisson Equation is solved using a multigrid technique. The LES results are presented and close agreement with the DNS is noted for both the stationary and rotating cases.

Abstract:
Large-eddy simulations are used to investigate Coriolis forces effect on flow structure and heat transfer in a rotating dimpled channel. Two geometries with two dimple depths are considered, δ = 0.2 and 0.3 of channel height, for a wide range of rotation number, Rob = 0.0–0.70, based on mean bulk velocity and channel height. It is found that the turbulent flow is destabilized near the trailing side and stabilized near the leading side, with secondary flow structures generated in the channel under the effect of Coriolis forces. Higher heat transfer levels are obtained at the trailing surface of the channel, especially in regions of flow reattachment and boundary layer regeneration at the dimple surface. Coriolis forces showed a stronger effect on the flow structure for the shallow dimple geometry (δ = 0.2) compared to the deeper dimple where the growth and shrinkage of the flow recirculation zone in the dimple cavity with rotation were more pronounced than the deep dimple geometry (δ = 0.3). Under the action of rotation, heat transfer augmentation increased by 57% for δ = 0.2 and by 70% for δ = 0.3 on the trailing side and dropped by 50% for δ = 0.2 and by 45% for δ = 0.3 on the leading side from that of the stationary case.

Abstract:
Abstract: The text reflects the life experience of Le Corbusier in his humble hut of Cap Martin, where he establishes its particular pact with the nature, that finally becomes a pact with his life. The cottage was built in 1952 as an attached room to the snack bar that runs Robert Rebutato, plumber in Nice, fisherman, who met Le Corbusier during his stays in the E 1027. In the following years the architect endorses the site: L'Étoile Mer, its terrace, the carob tree and the work shed. It is the Mediterranean, but also the friendship with the fisherman, which will bind him to this place, until the day of his death on the rocks. This relationship is shown in several murals, including the portraying of the two friends "À l'Étoile de Mer règne l'amitié". The architect works too on some projects in this place: Roq et Rob and Unités de Vacances series. In these last ones Le Corbusier found to stay during his visits to the coast, but after the death of Yvonne in 1957, he chooses not to carry out their projects, and keep staying at Le Cabanon, the minimal cell room, parasitized to L’Étoile de Mer. He decides not to occupy the territory, keeping virgin it, building the minimum to maintain the maximum empty. Some drawings attest to the exchange of properties between Le Corbusier and Rebutato. In exchange to a large wedge of land that includes the cabin, the architect deliveries the Unités de Camping to Robert. So he becomes owner of an extension of rocks where isn’t possible to build anything, in the way to keep the landscape intact and protect its loneliness. Abstract:
Across East Africa’s vast rangelands, pastoralist livestock systems have been commercialising since the early 1900s. Commercialisation has varied widely within and between areas, but now includes substantial livestock exports, regional and cross-border trade, and supply to domestic markets. This policy brief examines some of the key features of pastoralism that affect how commercialisation evolves in pastoralist societies, and why poorer producers often benefit least from new market access. The policy brief draws on a substantial body of research and programme evaluations, and two new APRA research reports on pastoral livestock commercialisation in south-east Ethiopia (Gebresenbet, 2020) and northern Kenya (Roba, 2020).
