AbstractMicrofabrics formed by flat particles and voids in till samples from the upper Ürümqi river valley, Tien Shan, northwestern China, were analyzed using three mutually perpendicular thin sections. Chi-squared tests were used to determine significance levels of the orientations of both particles and voids. The basal tills in an end moraine, on the stoss sides of two roche moutonnées, on the stoss sides of a drumlin with a rock core, and on the lee side of the same drumlin far from the rock core have strong particle and void microfabrics.

The present study combines the results of previous work with modern analysis of photographs and satellite images. The theory of Pleistocene glaciation which took vast areas of the northern hemisphere became the basis of the new approach. Glaciation covered the area from northwestern Mongolia to Mongolian Altai, Khangai and Khuvsgul mountain ranges. In this position paper the author presents a perspective on rock drumming and music education. The author is a drummer and university professor who combines an autoethnographic account with consideration of theoretical frameworks including authenticity, flow and the autotelic personality. Through illustrative vignettes of rock drumming and music teaching, the author appeals to the essentially somatic experience of rock drumming. He argues that educators and educational institutions need to allow for rock’s inherent, authentic loudness or else risk misrepresenting the music and treating drummer

Abstract Natural forests likely will be unable to fulfill society’s needs sustainably for wood fiber in the near future. In an attempt to meet increasing demands while protecting intact forests, producers have increasingly considered alternative sources of timber, such as intensively managed plantations. In regions that are economically dependent on forest harvesting, abandoned farm fields are often targeted for conversion to intensive coniferous plantations. These sites are generally in an early successional stage that is dominated by deciduous stands, which provide an important habitat type

abstract: Double bass drumming is a genre of drum set performance that utilizes a bass drum pedal for both the right and left feet. This allows the feet to function much like the hands, and provides the ability to play faster rhythmic passages on the bass drum that would otherwise be impossible in the classic single-pedal arrangement. The feet are then elevated to new levels of importance, which creates new challenges in four-limb coordination. This double bass drumming tradition has been in use since the mid-20th century, and it has become extremely popular since that time. Today, virtually

Beginning with La Monte Young, the master of the drone, a few composers began to simplify their art in an effort to connect to the listening public.
