Abstract:
Der Beitrag wirft die Frage nach dem Zusammenhang von musikzentrierten Jugendkulturen und Szenen, Pop- und Rockmusik sowie sozialen (Jugend-)Bewegungen in Vergangenheit und Gegenwart auf. Popmusik und Rockmusik bildet in der zweiten Hälfte des 20. Jahrhunderts eine zentrale kulturelle Ausdrucksform in Jugendkulturen und Szenen. Desgleichen gehört jugendliches Protestverhalten zur soziokulturellen Praxis Jugendlicher. Daraus wird die Frage abgeleitet, ob und inwiefern spezifische Musik in musikzentrierten Jugendkulturen und Szenen mit sozialen (Jugend-)Bewegungen zusammengebracht werden kann. Es wird selektiv auf historische Entwicklungen der Popmusik und Rockmusik eingegangen. Mit dieser historischen Perspektive soll hinterfragt werden, ob überhaupt und welche Musik soziale (Jugend-)Bewegungen beeinflusst und geprägt hat, und nach belegbaren Beispielen dafür gesucht werden. Abschließend wird ein Blick auf aktuelle Zusammenhänge geworfen und auf Entwicklungen hinsichtlich rechter musikkultureller Erlebniswelten eingegangen.

Abstract:
Der Autor beschreibt den gegenwärtigen theoretischen Diskurs um den Begriff der Medienkompetenz und stellt fest, dass ihm das gerade bei Kindern und Jugendlichen bedeutende Element der ästhetischen Erfahrung darin fehlt. Als solche bezeichnet er nichtsprachliche Elemente des gemeinsamen medialen Erlebens. Zunächst wird dies an der Rockmusik ausgeführt, die Teil einer bestimmten Jugendkultur ist. Die Rockmusik wird vom Autor in Zusammenhang gesetzt mit milieuspezifischer Sozialisation, Gefühls- und Erfahrungswelten. Ähnlich wie die Musik sind auch Bilder ein wichtiger Bestandteil der ästhetischen Kultur von Kindern und Jugendlichen, wie der Autor unter Ausführung semiotischer und kognitionspsychologischer Grundlagen der Bildwahrnehmung ausführt. Anschließend setzt er die kognitiven Reifeprozesse in Zusammenhang mit der Entwicklung medialer Kompetenzen, Er plädiert dafür, die visuelle und die musikalische Kompetenz nicht der linearen, auf Eindeutigkeit ausgerichteten Lesekompetenz unterzuordnen, sondern alle als Bestandteil der Medienkompetenz zu betrachten.

Abstract:
Diskussionen om rockmusikkens oprindelighed og ægthed har eksi- steret lige så længe som rocken selv. Både kritikere og fans forsøger at trække fronter mellem "god rockmusik", der opfattes som udtryk- kende noget ægte og spontant og "dårlig rcokmusik", som lader sig iscenesætte og omklamre af den kommercielle musikindustrie. I denne artikel diskuteres de autencitetsforestillinger, der gennem tiderne har præget vores vurdering af rockmusikken. Med rockkon- certen som udgangspunkt for en forståelse af det komplekse og mod- sætningsfyldte forhold mellem autenticitet, ægthed og iscenesættelse, undersøger Lisbeth Ihlemann musikvideoen. Den er rockens ægteskab med TV, og opfattes af nogle kritikere som det afgørende skridt væk fra rødderne. Bl.a. fordi video-mediet via distancen til tilhører/tilskuer bryder med den tilstedeværelse-her-og-nu, som er et centralt element i den "ægte" rockmusik. Lisbeth Ihlemann argumenterer i artiklen dels for at rockens autentictets- begreb er dynamisk og flertydigt, og dels for at vores forståelse af det autentiske hele tiden er i bevægelse - ganske som rockmusikkens udtryksformer.

Abstract:
Denna studie har undersökt tre musiklärarstudenter med en oskolad bakgrund inom rockmusik; deras övningsvanor och övningsmetoder, introduktion till musiken, upplevelse av musikundervisning, och syn på sin egen förmåga. Studien har genomförts med semistrukturerade intervjuer och tematisk analys. Två av deltagarna är elgitarrister, och den tredje är elbasist. Alla är män i åldrarna 20-30 år och har minst 10 års erfarenhet av att spela elgitarr. De tog själva initiativet att börja spela musik efter att ha blivit inspirerade av rockmusik, ”rockstjärnor”, och uppfattningen om musik som ”coolt”. De tycks ha drivits främst av glädje, fascination, samhörighet, och av att rockmusiken och dess tillhörande instrument möjliggjorde tillfredställande ensemblespel på ett enkelt och lättillgängligt vis. Deltagarna har uttryckt att de än idag behöver uppleva en musikalisk autenticitet och en genuint intresse för att övning och musikutövande ska bli tillfredställande. Detta tycks ha lett till att de idag oftast övar genom att lära sig nya låtar, och använder repertoarinlärning som ett ”ramverk för övning”. Teknik och annan övning sker vid behov, och oftast när en utmaning uppstår i repertoarinlärningen. För deltagarna har omställningen till formell musikundervisning på många sätt varit svår, och inneburit problem med motivation och regelbunden övning. Det tycks även ha påverkat synen på deras förmågor, och medfört känslor av otillräcklighet. Värst var dessa effekter för gitarristerna i studien, och basistens svar stod ofta i kontrast till gitarristernas även om de överlag hade en väldigt liknande musikalisk bakgrund och vardag. Basisten föredrog vissa andra övningsmetoder, såg inte någon skillnad på att spela och att öva, och hade en mer positiv syn på effektiviteten i sin övning och sin notläsningsförmåga. Gitarristerna däremot ansåg sin notläsningsförmåga som undermålig, och föredrog att använda sitt gehör vid repertoarinlärning. De gjorde tydlig skillnad på övning och att spela, och beskrev ohållbara övningsrutiner som motiverades av yttre faktorer som läxor från skolan. För deltagarna introducerades notläsning först i gymnasieåldern, och det verkar ha varit en större utmaning för gitarristerna än för basisten. Denna sena introduktion kan ha lett till att gitarristerna blivit avskräckta från formell undervisning. Eftersom de vid det laget redan hade nått en någorlunda tekniskt hög nivå kan notläsningen i början ha varit alltför komplicerad då gitarren är ett ackordinstrument. Studien har frambringat, och presenterar avslutningsvis ett särskilt framträdande tema om ett fenomen jag har valt att kalla Gitarristsyndromet.

Abstract:
Rock music has during all of its almost 50 years of existence been the subject of criticism and debate. Much of this criticism has risen from religious circles. But also in these circles, rock music has its advocates. This thesis studies the reactions to rock music by spokespersons for institutional Christianity. Most of the material studied is written and published material. The material dates from 1983-1998 and originates from Sweden, Finland and the United States. The material is studied qualitatively. The purpose is to study the Christian discourse on rock music as an example of how institutional religion defends itself against competition. A theoretical perspective and conceptual apparatus is developed. The Christian discourse on rock is viewed as the defence of a monopolistic symbolic universe - institutional Christianity - against an outside threat - rock. This defence is described by two concepts, devaluation and incorporation. Devaluation involves giving rock an inferior status, for example defining it as demonic. Incorporation is an attempt to make rock part of the Christian symbolic universe. The result of devaluation and incorporation is the same: the denial of any reality outside the Christian symbolic universe. Several different techniques for devaluating and incorporating for example rock music can be used. Two such techniques are studied in the thesis: symbol interpretation, and the defence of boundaries. The main contribution of the thesis is the development and application of a theoretical perspective on how institutional religion defends itself against competition. The discussion on how established religion reacts to "secular" media adds an important dimension to the academic discussion on media, religion and culture.
