Abstract:

A comparative study of the composition of peripheral blood leukocytes of plunderfish and grey rockcod or squama caught in the Ross Sea has been carried out. Blood smears revealed cells of different morphofunctional characteristics and structure: lymphocytes, monocytes, neutro- and eosinophils, and blast cells. An analysis of the leukogram showed that the white blood of the studied species has a lymphoid character. This article presents a textual analysis of the Nickelodeon animated series Rocko’s Modern Life. Drawing from the theories of Guy Debord and Imamura Taihei, the series is posited as a revelatory lens into the spiritual crisis of late capitalism. We present a genome assembly from an individual Notothenia rossii (the marbled rockcod; Chordata; Actinopterygii; Perciformes; Nototheniidae). The genome sequence is 1,042.9 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 12 chromosomal pseudomolecules. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 21.68 kilobases in length. Gene annotation of this assembly on Ensembl identified 24,432 protein coding genes.

Peter Paul Rubens's Rockox Triptych is generally thought to represent the incredulity of Saint Thomas, even though the side wound that presented Christ's famously distrustful disciple with proof of the resurrection is nowhere to be seen. This article explores the significance of the missing side wound. Drawing attention to the circulation of skeptical philosophy within the artist's milieu, it argues that he conceived of the painting as an epistemic dilemma that would both elicit doubt and suggest how it might be set aside.
