In asymptotic calculations, the equilibrium form of a charged drop is found in a non-uniform electrostatic field created by an extended spheroid modeling a rod supported at a constant electric potential. It was found that the size of a small axis of a spheroid (rod thickness) creating a field considerably affects an equilibrium form of the charged drop. It is possible to describe the distortion of a spherical form of the surface of the charged conducting drop of ideal incompressible liquid in a non-uniform electrostatic field of a rod (with an accuracy bigger one percent of size) by the superp

Abstract:
Abstract Conventional ball valve systems and insert-guided cages compromise performance due to gas interference, solids accumulation and ball vibration that shortens the life and efficiency of conventional travelling and standing valve cages. Analysis of the flow profile around a common ball valve resulted in the design of a new proprietary pump system that maximizes fluid flow, creating a vortex profile that extends service life while increasing production. The proprietary vortex fluid pump system was compared against conventional inserts in a laboratory flow loop in over 1000 iterations with

Abstract:
This report is the result of a collaborative initiative of the American Educational Research Association (AERA), the National Council on Measurement in Education (NCME), and Women in Measurement (WIM) aimed at understanding the current state of gender and racial equity within the educational measurement field. Based on a survey of professionals’ experiences and perceptions, the study documents disparities across racial and gender groups and offers recommendations for creating a more diverse, equitable, and inclusive profession.

Abstract:
This report documents the bank erosion modeling performed under Task 6 (HEC-RAS Sediment Modeling) of the Old, Mississippi, Atchafalaya, and Red (OMAR) Rivers System Technical Assessment. The objectives of the bank erosion modeling effort were to compare the relative impact various flow scenarios might have on bank retreat on a stretch of the Atchafalaya River between Simmesport, LA, and the Whiskey Bay Pilot Channel. The effort included compilation of field and soil boring data, selection of bank retreat sites, creation of representative soil profiles for the reach, calibration of soil parame

Full text
Abstract:
A 2-D Phase-Field coupled Monte Carlo-Potts model, using PhasePot of vertically upwards continuous casting (VUCC) of oxygen free copper (OFCu) was investigated to reveal the grain growth morphology and the withdrawal parameters required to produce a high-quality homogeneity within the grain structure. A dynamic moving reference frame was used as an approximation to the complex withdrawal parameters. The simulation results were validated alongside cast rod grain structures produced under the same cast parameters, at Rautomead Ltd on a RS080 VUCC machine.

Abstract:
The issues of increasing interest among young people in scientific activity not only retain their relevance, but have become increasingly acute in recent years. Today, there is a pronounced decline in the level of prestige of scientific specialties, and those who are ready to work in this field, as a rule, initially have attitudes focused on the American and European scientific markets. To attract young people to science-intensive projects, “schools”, “forums” and “conferences” are held annually, aimed at creating a favorable information environment and creating comfortable conditions for self

Abstract:
The modern educational environment in the field of physics and information technology ensures the widespread use of visualization software for successful and deep memorization of material. There are many software for creating graphic objects for presentations and demonstrations, the most popular of which were analyzed. The work is devoted to the visualization of liquids with different viscosity parameters. The article describes the development of a fluid model in the form of a particle stream. The proposed methodology involves using the Houdini application to create interactive models. The dev
