Richard Rodriguez's autobiographical Hunger of Memory (1982) is assigned to Chicano-Chicana literature because the book tells a story of growing up the child of Mexican immigrants, but Rodriguez rejects the term Chicano for himself and denies that it is possible or desirable for Americans of Mexican descent to retain an identification with their culture of origin. Rodriguez has been widely criticized as a sellout to white bourgeois culture, but his life narrative shows that his rejection of Chicano identity is rooted in the class-and-race ideology of his Mexican parents and thus in the contrad

Abstract In the intrinsic pathway of apoptosis, death stimuli (including drugs, cellular stress, viral infections, etc.) trigger the oligomerization of BAX and BAK resulting in pore formation in the outer mitochondrial membrane to release cytochrome c from the intermembrane space. Abstract Background: Uptake of genetic testing for cancer susceptibility in family members of cancer patients is suboptimal. The GENetic Education, Risk Assessment, and TEsting (GENERATE) study evaluated two strategies of remote genetic education and testing in relatives of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC) patients. Methods: Eligible participants had: a first-degree relative with PDAC or had a known pathogenic germline variant (PGV) in one of thirteen PDAC predisposition genes (APC, ATM, BRCA1, BRCA2, CDKN2A, EPCAM, MLH1, MSH2, MSH6, PALB2, PMS2, STK11, or TP53) and a first- or second-d

FGFR mutations, fusions, rearrangements, and amplifications have been linked to the pathogenesis of multiple tumor types. For example, approximately 10-15% of patients with intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma have FGFR2 fusions, and amplification of FGFR2 is prevalent in gastric cancer and implicated in tumor growth. Approved FGFR inhibitors produce responses in patients that harbor FGFR genetic alterations but show reduced

While the contribution of key, state-specific transcription factors to these processes has been extensively explored, the role for chromatin regulatory complexes remains less clear. The mammalian SWI/SNF (mSWI/SNF) complexes are a diverse family of ATP-dependent remodeling complexes that regulate DNA accessibility and hence facilitate timely and appropriate gene expression.
