Abstract:
Abstract Isoelectric focusing was used to separate proteins from cyst extracts of potato cyst nematode (PCN) populations. In a first set of assays, cyst extracts from standard populations of Globodera rostochiensis pathotypes Ro1, Ro2, Ro3, Ro2/3, Ro4, and Ro5, and G. pallida pathotypes Pa2 and Pa3, were loaded on isoelectric focusing gels. Gels were stained for superoxide dismutase (SOD), esterase, and glucose-6-phosphate isomerase (GPI). Twelve bands of SOD activity were detected, six (B1-B6) migrating towards the basic zone and the other six (A1-A6) migrating towards the acidic zone, starting from the loading point. A cluster analysis was carried out based on a data matrix that reported the presence or absence of SOD bands on the isozyme electrophoresis patterns (IEPs). Globodera spp. were clearly distinguished and, within G. rostochiensis, Ro2 and Ro4 shared a high level of similarity, respectively, with Ro3 and Ro5; moreover, Ro1 could be clearly distinguished from Ro2/3 and Ro4/5. Globodera pallida Pa2 and Pa3 also shared a high level of similarity. In contrast, esterase and GPI IEPs did not discriminate among G. rostochiensis standard pathotypes. Subsequently, 14 field populations of G. rostochiensis, five from Italy and nine from Venezuela, and three field populations of G. pallida, two from Italy and one from Chile, were assayed to obtain SOD IEPs. Italian populations had previously been identified at pathotype level by bioassays according to the generally accepted international test using different resistant potato cultivars and clones. The cluster analysis carried out on the SOD IEPs of all the populations tested formed four distinct groups within G. rostochiensis and only one within G. pallida. Pathotype identification of Globodera populations by SOD IEPs was not able to discriminate between bioassay standard couples Ro2/Ro3, Ro4/Ro5 and Pa2/Pa3. Therefore, three groups were assigned to Ro1, Ro2/3 and Ro4/5, and a fourth group to Pa2/Pa3. Four Venezuelan populations, not identified at pathotype level by bioassays, formed a distinct fifth group. By means of the method described herein, four additional unknown Venezuelan populations could be assigned to Ro1 group and one to Ro2/Ro3 group; one G. pallida population from Chile was assigned to Pa2/Pa3 group.

Abstract:
Изучена эффективность ремаксола у пациентов со стеатогепатитом различного генеза и гипераммониемией. Проанализированы результаты лечения 30 пациентов, получавших ремаксол внутривенно капельно со скоростью 40 – 60 кап/мин 400 мл 1 раз в сутки, курс 10 дней. Оценивали динамику (до начала лечения, через 5, 11 и 30 дней) общего самочувствия, когнитивных функций («Тест связи чисел»), уровня билирубина, трансаминаз, гамма-глутамилтранспептидазы и аммиака крови. Применение ремаксола сопровождалось улучшением клинико-лабораторных данных: уменьшалась выраженность астении и когнитивных нарушений по тесту связи чисел в 1,2 раза к 11 дню наблюдения до (50,77 ± 13,93) баллов. Выявлено улучшение функциональных печеночных показателей: снижение к 11 дню наблюдения средних значений уровня трансаминаз в 2,5 раза, гамма-глутамилтранспептидазы — в 1,9 раза, общего билирубина — в 1,7 раза, аммиака — в 1,8 раза, которое сохранялось до 30 дней от начала терапии (p ≤ 0,05). Корреляционный анализ выявил статистически значимую прямую корреляцию между уровнем аммиака, аспартатаминотрансферазы, общего билирубина, щелочной фосфатазы в крови и показателями теста связи чисел до начала терапии (ro1 = 0,64; ro2 = 0,39; ro3 = 0,72; ro4 = 0,49 при p < 0,05). При этом общее самочувствие пациентов нах дилось в статистически значимой обратной зависимости от показателей теста, уровней аммиака, аспартатаминотрасферазы, щелочной фосфатазы, гамма-глутамилтранспептидазы и общего билирубина в крови (ro1 = – 0,56; ro2 = – 0,46; ro3 = – 0,58; ro4 = – 0,56; ro5 = – 0,6; ro6 = – 0,38 при p < 0,05). Полученные результаты свидетельствуют об эффективности ремаксола у пациентов со стеатогепатитом различной этиологии с гипер-аммониемией, что, наряду с хорошей переносимостью препарата, позволяет рекомендовать его включение в схемы лечения.

The need for further comparative studies aimed at defining differential diagnostic is emphasized.

Abstract:
This work deals with the PSO technique (Particle Swarm Optimization), which is capable to solve complex problems. This technique can be used for solving complex combinatorial problems (the traveling salesman problem, the tasks of knapsack), design of integrated circuits and antennas, in fields such as biomedicine, robotics, artificial intelligence or finance. Although the PSO algorithm is very efficient, the time required to seek out appropriate solutions for real problems often makes the task intractable. The goal of this work is to accelerate the execution time of this algorithm by the usage of Graphics processors (GPU), which offers higher computing potential while preserving the favorable price and size. The boolean satisfiability problem (SAT) was chosen to verify and benchmark the implementation. As the SAT problem belongs to the class of the NP-complete problems, any reduction of the solution time may broaden the class of tractable problems and bring us new interesting knowledge.

Abstract:
This thesis deals with a population based stochastic optimization technique PSO (Particle Swarm Optimization) and its acceleration. This simple, but very effective technique is designed for solving difficult multidimensional problems in a wide range of applications. The aim of this work is to develop a parallel implementation of this algorithm with an emphasis on acceleration of finding a solution. For this purpose, a graphics card (GPU) providing massive performance was chosen. To evaluate the benefits of the proposed implementation, a CPU and GPU implementation were created for solving a problem derived from the known NP-hard Knapsack problem. The GPU application shows 5 times average and almost 10 times the maximum speedup of computation compared to an optimized CPU application, which it is based on.

Abstract:
Syfte: Det föreligger ett lagförslag som kan komma att ställa krav på omkring 2000 svenska företag vad det gäller redovisning inom Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), en redovisning som idag ännu är frivillig. Denna studies huvudsakliga syfte är att undersöka om det finns någon relation mellan sådan redovisning och fööetags finansiella prestation. I forskningen kring denna relation har begreppet Corporate Social Performance (CSP) använts för att kvantifiera redovisad CSR. Relationen studeras dels utifrån ett samlat mått på CSP, dels separat utifrån de två dimensionerna miljö och mänskliga rättigheter. Metod: Föreliggande studie har utgått ifrån den positivistiska forskningsfilosofin och antagit en hypotetiskt-deduktiv ansats. Vidare har den strategi som antagits varit kvantitativ, där en tvärsnittsdesign använts och där data som samlats in uteslutande varit av sekundär art. Studiens urval uppgår till 211 företag noterade på Nasdaq OMX Stockholm. Den data som använts som måttåå CSP har hämtats från Folksams index för ansvarsfullt företagande för år 2013. Måtten på finansiell prestation har hämtats från årsredovisningar för räkenskapsåret 2013, vilka erhållits genom databasen Retriever och företagens egna hemsidor. Vidare har all data behandlats i statistikprogrammet SPSS där den analyserats med hjälp av multipla regressionsanalyser. Resultat & slutsats: Studien visade att det fanns en positiv relation mellan CSP och företags finansiella prestation. Studien gav vidare stöd åt en relation både utifrån det totala måttet av CSP samt dimensionen miljö. CSR-arbete kan följaktligen anses vara en värdeskapande strategi om man ser till företags finansiella prestation, i synnerhet vad det gäller miljörelaterat arbete. Förslag till fortsatt forskning: Föreliggande studie är av tvärsnittsdesign vilket ibland kritiserats för att vara otillräcklig när relationen som är central i detta arbete studeras. Ett förslag vi lämnar till fortsatta studier är därför att göra en liknande studie över tid för att kunna kartlägga förändringar. Vidare anser vissa forskare att det inte är tillräckligt att mäta företags finansiella prestation endast genom redovisningsmässiga mått, varpå ett förslag är att undersöka samma relation och då även inkludera marknadsmässiga mått. Vi tar i kapitel 5.4 upp fler förslag till vidare forskning. Uppsatsens bidrag: Denna studie bidrar med ytterligare kunskap kring de varierande resultaten av relationen mellan företags CSP och finansiella prestation. Vidare bidrar studien praktiskt till en ökad förståelse för hur CSP påverkar företags finansiella prestation i en svensk kontext.
Aim: The Swedish ministry of justice has submitted a legislative proposal that could require about 2000 Swedish companies to report Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), something that today is voluntary. The main purpose of the study is to investigate whether there is any relationship between reported CSR and corporate financial performance. In this area of research, Corporate Social Performance (CSP) has been used to quantify reported CSR. The relationship is studied partly based on an aggregate measure of CSP, but also from the two dimensions environment and human rights. Method: The study is based in positivist research philosophy and adopts a hypothetical-deductive approach. The strategy adopted is quantitative, using a cross-sectional design and secondary data only. The study's sample amounts to 211 companies listed on Nasdaq OMX Stockholm. The data used as a measure of CSP is taken from Folksam’s index for corporate responsibility for 2013. The measures of financial performance is taken from the annual reports for the financial year of 2013, obtained through the database Retriever and the companies' own websites. Furthermore, all data is processed in SPSS where it was analyzed using multiple regression analysis. Results & conclusions: The study showed that there was a positive relationship between CSP and corporate financial performance. The study provided further support for a relationship both from the overall dimension of CSP and the environmental dimension. CSR-related work can therefore be regarded as a value-creating strategy in terms of the company's financial performance, particularly in terms of environment-related work. Suggestions for further research: This study has a cross-sectional design, which is sometimes criticized for being insufficient when the relationship between CSP and financial performance is studied. One suggestion we leave for further studies is to do a similar study over time to identify changes. Furthermore, some researchers believe that it’s not enough to measure the company's financial performance only through accounting-based measures. Therefore, another suggestion is to investigate the relationship including market-based measures. In chapter 5.4 more suggestions for further research are presented. Contributions of the thesis: This study contributes more knowledge to the varying results of the relationship between companies CSP and financial performance. Furthermore, the study's practical contribution is to give a better understanding of how CSP affects financial performance of companies in a Swedish context.

Abstract:
The purpose of this master thesis is to compare the company ContiTrade Services s.r.o. with its competitors between the years 2011 and 2014 by creating a ranking of selected tyre services. This thesis is divided into a practical section and a theoretical section. In the theoretical section are shown basic terms related to the intercompany comparison, the principles of the strategic tool Balanced Scorecard, the chosen indicators for the ranking and the methods of creating a rank within the intercompany comparison. In the practical section a spread (ROE - re), ROE, ROA, ROS, a turnover, a net profit, the amount of subsidiaries, the amount of services, an increase of tangible assets and labour costs are the basis for creating a ranking. These indicators are divided into four section according to the strategic tool Balanced Scorecard. There has been also created a complex ranking between the years 2011 and 2014 based on the above listed indicators.

Remotely Operated underwater Vehicles (ROVs) are getting more and more advanced withevery new model. As new functionality is added, the price increases. This thesis is one partof a larger project, where the goal is to develop a low-budget ROV. The ROV should later bemade autonomous and entered into a competition.This thesis have focused on the modeling and stabilizing control of an ROV that was designedby mechanical engineering students at Linköping University. The only sensor used was anInertial Measurement Unit (IMU) and the ROV has a torpedo-like design. The modeling wasdone using identification in Matlab with the grey box and black box methods. Water trialsand simulations show that the model is estimated sufficiently good to be used as the basis ofdifferent model based controllers.Two different control strategies were implemented; a linear quadratic controller (LQ) and amodel predictive controller (MPC). Both controllers worked desirably in simulations. Onlythe LQ controller was evaluated in real world tests. Due to problems with the implementationenvironment chosen for the MPC, the MPC could not be tested.The thesis also uses decision matrices as a mean to motivate the important decisions thathave been made.

O presente trabalho visa determinar empiricamente quais os fatores que influenciam na rendibilidade dos bancos que operaram em Angola, medida pela Rentabilidade dos Ativos (ROA) e pela Rentabilidade dos Capitais Próprios (ROE), no período compreendido entre 2007 e 2015. Para tal, foram selecionados 144 observações de 16 bancos da base de dados da Associação Angolana de Bancos (ABANC). Os resultados indicam que a Dimensão, o Rácio Capital e taxa de Inflação tem um efeito positivo na rendibilidade dos bancos. As variáveis Risco de crédito, Cash Deposit Ratio, Solvabilidade e Alavancagem, têm um impacto negativo na rendibilidade dos bancos.
This study aims to empirically determine which factors influence the profitability of banks that operated in Angola, as measured by Return on Assets (ROA) and Return on Equity (ROE) for the period between 2007 and 2015. To this end, we selected 144 observations of 16 banks from the database of the Angolan Association of Banks (ABANC). The results indicate that the size, the ratio Capital and Inflation rate has a positive effect on the profitability of banks. Variables Credit Risk, Cash Deposit Ratio, Solvency and Leverage have a negative impact on banks' profitability.

ENGLISH ABSTRACT: This study aims to understand the role that 19th century photography can play in the reconstruction of an era and in the conservation of cultural heritage in the 21st century. The photo collection of William Roe, a photographer from Graaff-Reinet, is used as an example. The origin and development of Graaff-Reinet is used as background information and major events such as the Great Trek, the arrival of the railway, the Anglo-Boer War, the First World War and the Great Flu are touched upon. Aspects such as education, churches, the library and the hospital in Graaff-Reinet complement the study. An overview of the development of photography covers several early photo-making processes. These include the daguerreotype process, Talbot's paper negative process, collotype and the popular carte de visite photographs. Photography specifically in South Africa is also conferred, with particular reference to the first photographers working in the country. Reference is made to the important influences major events like the discovery of diamonds and gold as well as the Anglo-Boer War had on photography. The discussion of William Roe as human being and his legacy as a photographer forms an integral part of the study. The Victorian period is discussed since this was the period in which Roe worked and lived. It had a formative influence on his workmanship. An overview of the Victorian period in England is followed by specific focus on South Africa during this time. The rush to the diamond fields, issues with language and the trends of the times are pointed out. Many of these trends are specifically indicated and discussed as they appear in Roe’s photos. The photos have been categorized to clarify analysis of the different cultural phenomena. The architecture and historical background of Graaff-Reinet’s churches and public buildings are discussed. Streetscapes and images of the town as a whole show the development and daily activities that took place. Photos of clothing represent a reconstruction of the fashions of the concurrent Victorian era and those of public events such as sporting events, celebrations, plays and a gathering during the Anglo-Boer War, display the social life of the community. The role of human memory in the writing of cultural history is compared with the “memory” role of photographs. At the same time the ability of photographs to reflect not only physical culture, but also abstract concepts, receives attention. The use of these abilities of photography in the preservation of culture is a challenge for conservationists of the 21th century.
AFRIKAANSE OPSOMMING: Hierdie studie het ten doel om die rol wat 19de-eeuse fotografie kan vervul in die rekonstruksie van ’n era en in die bewaring van kultuurgoedere vir die 21ste eeu, aan te spreek. Die fotoversameling van William Roe van Graaff-Reinet word as voorbeeld gebruik. Die ontstaan en ontwikkeling van Graaff-Reinet word as agtergrond behandel en belangrike gebeurtenisse soos onder meer Die Groot Trek, die koms van die spoorlyn, die Anglo- Boereoorlog, die Eerste Wêreldoorlog en die Groot Griep word uitgewys. Die rol van die menslike geheue in kultuurgeskiedskrywing word vergelyk met die rol van foto’s as “geheue”. Terselfdertyd word die vermoë van foto’s om nie net fisiese kultuur te weerspieël nie, maar ook abstrakte konsepte te verteenwoordig, behandel. Die aanwending van hierdie eienskappe van fotografie in kultuurbewaring is ’n uitdaging vir bewaringskundiges van die 21ste eeu.

Abstract:
A detailed aerothermal characterization of an advanced leading edge cooling system has been performed by means of experimental measurements. Heat transfer coefficient distribution has been evaluated exploiting a steady-state technique using Thermocromic Liquid Crystals (TLC), while flow field has been investigated by means of Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV). The geometry key features are the multiple impinging jets and the four rows of coolant extraction holes, which mass flow rate distribution is representative of real engine working conditions. Tests have been performed in both static and rotating conditions, replicating a typical range of jet Reynolds number (Rej), from 10000 to 40000, and Rotation number (Roj) up to 0.05. Different cross-flow conditions (CR) have been used to simulate the three main blade regions (i.e. tip, mid and hub). The aerothermal field turned out to be rather complex, but a good agreement between heat transfer coefficient and flow field measurement has been found. In particular, jet bending strongly depends on crossflow intensity, while rotation has a weak effect on both jet velocity core and area-averaged Nusselt number. Rotational effects increase for the lower cross-flow tests. Heat transfer pattern shape has been found to be substantially Reynolds-independent.

Increasing turbine inlet temperature is one of the main strategies used to accomplish the demands of increased performance of modern gas turbines. As a consequence, optimization of the cooling system is of paramount importance in gas turbine development. Leading edge represents a critical part of cooled nozzles and blades, given the presence of the hot gases stagnation point and the unfavourable geometry for cooling. This paper reports the results of a numerical investigation aimed at assessing the rotation effects on the heat transfer distribution in a realistic leading edge internal cooling system of a high pressure gas turbine blade. The numerical investigation was carried out in order to support and to allow an in-depth understanding of the results obtained in a parallel experimental campaign. The model is composed of a trapezoidal feeding channel which provides air to the cold bridge system by means of three large racetrack-shaped holes, generating coolant impingement on the internal concave leading edge surface, whereas four big fins assure the jets confinement. Air is then extracted through 4 rows of 6 holes reproducing the external cooling system composed of shower-head and film cooling holes. Experiments were performed in static and rotating conditions replicating the typical range of jet Reynolds number (Rej) from 10000 to 40000 and Rotation number (Roj) up to 0.05, for three crossflow cases representative of the working condition that can be found at blade tip, midspan and hub, respectively. Experimental results in terms of flow field measurements on several internal planes and heat transfer coefficient on the LE internal surface have been performed on two analogous experimental campaigns at University of Udine and University of Florence respectively. Hybrid RANS-LES models were used for the simulations, such as Scale Adaptive Simulation (SAS) and Detached Eddy Simulation (DES), given their ability to resolve the complex flow field associated with jet impingement. Numerical flow field results are reported in terms of both jet velocity profiles and 2D vector plots on symmetry and transversal internal planes, while the heat transfer coefficient distributions are presented as detailed 2D maps together with radial and tangential averaged Nusselt number profiles. A fairly good agreement with experimental measurements is observed, which represent a validation of the adopted computational model. As a consequence, the computed aerodynamic and thermal fields also allow an in-depth interpretation of the experimental results.

Jet impingement has been extensively used in gas turbine airfoil internal cooling, especially leading edge and mid-chord region, which are subjected to high heat transfer loads. Earlier studies have shown that impingement onto dimpled surface results in higher heat transfer augmentation, particularly in maximum crossflow setting. The present study investigates the effect of Coriolis force and buoyancy in rotating channel featuring round shape jet plate and dimpled target plate, where the spent air is allowed to exit in only one direction, thus imposing maximum crossflow. In order to ensure that the buoyancy acts in a direction similar to actual gas turbine blades, colder air is passed into the feed chamber (also in rotation). Detailed heat transfer measurements are presented using transient liquid crystal thermography, where the target surface is modeled as one-dimensional semi-infinite solid. The jet plate features three (and four) rows of circular holes, where the normalized spanwise and streamwise pitch (x/d, y/d) of jets is kept at 3. The normalized jet-to-target surface distance (z/d) is 4 and the nozzle aspect ratio is 2. The target plate features four rows of dimples, where the dimple print diameter to jet hole diameter ratio is 0.61. The cylindrical dimple arrangement on the target plate has been kept the same for all the configurations tested, where the dimple pitch to dimple print diameter ratio is kept at 1.832. The baseline case for the normalization of Nusselt number is the smooth target surface. Three different configurations of jet plate has been studied. The flow and rotation conditions have been kept the same for all the configurations, where the average Reynolds number (based on jet hole hydraulic diameter: Rej) has been maintained at 2500 and the rotational speed has been kept at 400 RPM (corresponds to Roj of 0.00274). Flow experiments have been carried out to determine the variation of discharge coefficient of each hole with the plenum absolute pressure to ambient pressure ratio, and these Cd measurements were used in the determination of the flow distribution in the jet hole plate. Under non-rotating conditions, dimpled target surface have heat transfer enhancements greater than unity. Also, for non-rotating cases, crossflow effects have been seem to be maximum and for long exit lengths, dimpled target surfaces might have lower heat transfer as compared to smooth target. It has been found that rotation has negative effects on heat transfer augmentation on dimpled target surface for all three configurations studied.

Abstract:
Heat transfer and flow behavior in the mini tube bank were examined. The tube bank was composed of 1 mm diameter nickel wires and a 30 mm wide × 15 mm high flow channel. Experiments were performed in the range of the rod Re = 5 ~ 430 by using water. Numerical analyses were also conducted with the commercial CFD code STAR-CD. The heat transfer coefficient after the second row was lower than first row's one. The flow visualization results indicated that the wake region was stagnant when the Reynolds number was low. This flow stagnation seemed to cause the heat transfer coefficient deterioration in the tube bank. As the Reynolds number was increased, the flow state in the wake region gradually changed from the stagnant condition to the more disturbed condition. The deeper the row was, the more disturbed the wake was. The heat transfer coefficient began to recover to the first row value at certain Reynolds number. The recovery started from the most downstream row; fifth row in the present experiments and was propagated to the upstream row. The Reynolds number when the recovery was initiated decreased as the spacing between rods was increased. The analytical results of the STAR-CD code supported the experimental results. When the wake was stagnant, the heat transfer coefficient distribution around the rear rod, i.e. the rod in the wake, showed a large dip in the front region of the rod. It was considered that this dip caused the heat transfer coefficient decrease after the second row observed in the experiments.
