Abstract:
New data on cetoniidae species (Coleoptera: Scarabaeoidea) preserved in the patrimony of the Oltenia Museum Craiova (Romania) The paper includes new data concerning the species Cetoniidae family preserved in the patrimony of the Oltenia Museum Craiova. The examined material (1029 specs) was collected between 1951-2009 from 55 sites, mostly from Oltenia and two sites from Constanţa county. 17 of the 19 species and subspecies previously known in this area have been identified. The Protaetia (Netocia) cuprea metallica (Herbst, 1782) subspecies is mentioned for the first time in the fauna of Oltenia. The identification of the Oxythyrea cinctella (Schaum, 1841) reconfirms the presence of this species in the Romanian fauna. The only mention of this species belongs to Panin (1957). The following species have not been found again: Protaetia (Netocia) fieberi (Kraatz, 1880) and P. (Netocia) ungarica (Herbst, 1790) which were previously mentioned in the museum patrimony (Chimişliu, 1999). At present, in the fauna of Oltenia 20 species and subspecies are confirmed, out of which 19 are preserved in the patrimony of the Oltenia Museum of Craiova.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents the list of alien plant species from Oltenia (Romania). For each taxon we mentioned and analysed the life form, the invasive status and the residence time. The collected and presented data highlight the expansion of the area of some alien species not mentioned previously in this part of the country and also the presence of a new subspontaneous species in the vascular flora of Romania, namely Lagurus ovatus.

Abstract:
Euphydryas maturna is a highly endangered species listed on the Annexes II and IV of the Habitats Directive as well as on the Annex II of the Bern Convention. Despite being reported from almost all the historical regions of Romania, there are only two published records from Oltenia so far. Several specimens spotted in the Bungețu forest (near Bălcești, Vâlcea county) in late May 2021, are filling this gap in the known distribution of the Scarce fritillary in Romania.

Abstract:
Two experimental simulations of underground coal gasification (UCG) processes, using large bulk samples of lignites, were conducted in a surface laboratory setup. Two different lignite samples were used for the oxygen-blown experiments, i.e., “Velenje” meta-lignite (Slovenia) and “Oltenia” ortho-lignite (Romania). The average moisture content of the samples was 31.6wt.% and 45.6wt.% for the Velenje and Oltenia samples, respectively. The main aim of the study was to assess the suitability of the tested lignites for the underground coal gasification process. The gas composition and its production rates, as well as the temperatures in the artificial seams, were continuously monitored during the experiments. The average calorific value of gas produced during the Velenje lignite experiment (6.4 MJ/Nm3) was much higher compared to the result obtained for the experiment with Oltenia lignite (4.8 MJ/Nm3). The Velenje lignite test was also characterized by significantly higher energy efficiency, i.e., 44.6%, compared to the gasification of Oltenia lignite (33.4%). The gasification experiments carried out showed that the physicochemical properties of the lignite used considerably affect the in situ gasification process. Research also indicates that UCG can be considered as a viable option for the extraction of lignite deposits; however, lignites with a lower moisture content and higher energy density are preferred, due to their much higher process efficiency.

Abstract:
Blizzard phenomena is a complex atmospheric event, in which the snow that falls or has fallen is blown away by the wind, so that the visibility decrease significant enough and the assessment of the simultaneous snow fall is impossible (Țîșlea, D. et al. 1965). The region of Oltenia is featured by a climate with Mediterranean influences, with the dominance of northwest and east winds (Roșu, Al. Et al. 1971). The contact between the cold and the warm air masses leads to the increase of the horizontal baric gradient, which causes strong wind intensification. Due to the geographical position of the Carpathian chain, the penetration of colder and denser air is directed towards the east and the south of Romania, thereby has an impact on the study area (***Climate of Romania 2008). Out of all the natural phenomena during the cold season, blizzard is by far the most versatile, with a heavily impact on society and environment (Teodoreanu 2004). The purpose of this paper is to emphasize the hydro meteorological outcome of the 2018 blizzard episode from February 24#$ to March 2%&. In order to achieve this, we will identify the spatial and temporal variability of the hazard in the region of Oltenia, the atmospheric mechanism of this late blizzard occurrence, its climatic characteristics and the consequences on the rivers runoff regime. We will analyze the synoptic conditions under which the blizzard appeared, the recorded meteorological data and a series of hydrological data from the stations located on the main rivers (Jiu, Olt and Danube) in order to determine the synoptic weather pattern, the successive number of days with blizzard, the dominant direction and the average and maximum wind speed, the average and maximum amount of precipitation, as well as for the thickness of snow layer and the daily liquid levels and flows.
