In the spring of 1918, after difficult peace talks, the treaty between Romania and the Central Powers was signed at Buftea, close to Bucharest, on 24 April / 7 May 1918. The conditions were extremely harsh, and Romania became a veritable semi-colony of Germany and her allies, losing both parts of the national territory and important material resources.
