Abstract:
Massive parallelization of STED-like nanoscopies is now achievable using well-designed optical lattices for state depletion. Yet, only the lattice intensity distribution was considered for the description of the super-resolved point spread function. This holds for fast-rotating fluorescent emitters. Here, we study the effects of electric field topography in lattice–STED microscopy. The dependence of the super-resolved point spread function on the number of dipoles and their orientation is investigated. Single fluorescent nano-diamonds are imaged using different optical lattice configurations a

The aim of this paper is to present two acoustic beamforming methods developed for rotating sources, namely the Rotating Source Identifier (ROSI) and the Virtual Rotating Array method (VRAM). These were applied onto a series of simulated test cases, and their behaviour was analysed. Both methods were able to localise the source reliably. However, the source strength was found to depend on the number or microphones when VRAM was applied. This phenomenon was quantified and an approximate formula was given providing the minimum number of microphones required to reach a certain amplitude error. Be

This thesis describes an innovative method for topographic measurement of diffuse surfaces. Tested surface is measured indirectly using nanoparticles distributed across the studied area. An image of every particle is captured by CCD camera as a double helix point spread function whose angular rotation corresponds to local surface height. Used point spread function is the result of an interference of non-diffracting vortex beams that are formed by a spiral phase mask from light originating from a nanoparticle. Diploma thesis presents an overview of current techniques for surface topography meas

Depth-From-Defocus (DFD) is a monocular computer vision technique for creating depth maps from two images taken on the same optical axis with different intrinsic camera parameters. A pre-processing stage for optimally converting colour images to monochrome using a linear combination of the colour planes has been shown to improve the accuracy of the depth map. It was found that the first component formed using Principal Component Analysis (PCA) and a technique to maximise the signal-to-noise ratio (SNR) performed better than using an equal weighting of the colour planes with an additive noise m
