Ultrafast 2D spectroscopy uses correlated multiple light−matter interactions for retrieving dynamic features that may otherwise be hidden under the linear spectrum; its extension to the terahertz regime of the electromagnetic spectrum, where a rich variety of material degrees of freedom reside, remains an experimental challenge. We report a demonstration of ultrafast 2D terahertz spectroscopy of gas-phase molecular rotors at room temperature. Using time-delayed terahertz pulse pairs, we observe photon echoes and other nonlinear signals resulting from molecular dipole orientation induced by mul

We are observing meteor showers using the MU radar located at Shigaraki, Japan. This is a Mesosphere, Stratosphere and Troposphere radar, belonging to the Kyoto University, with a frequency and a peak power of 46.5M.ffz and 1MW, respectively. This system is characterized by the versatility of the antenna array. By using four antennas out of 475 Yagi arrays together with four receiver channels, we can observe more than several hundred meteor echoes per hour. The beam applied at the meteor observation is a static “doughnut beam”, which is the rotational symmetrical pattern to the vertical line.

Image registration is a key intermediate step for Interferometric Inverse Synthetic Aperture Radar (InISAR) three-dimensional (3D) imaging. It arranges the same scatterers of the target on the same pixel cell in different ISAR images, which makes the interferometric processing carried on between the same scatterers to obtain its 3D coordinates. This paper proposes a novel ISAR image registration method of three steps. Firstly, chirp Fourier transform is used to estimate the rotational angular velocity of the target. Secondly, the compensation phase is constructed, according to the rotational a

Abstract In Chapter 5 the concept of image contrast was introduced. The nuclear magnetic resonance spectrum is rich in details which reveal the molecular environment of the nucleus. Chemical shift contrast and other more sophisticated methods of spectral editing can provide molecularly selective images while other schemes take advantage of the various characteristic time-scales in NMR, giving effects which are highly sensitive to the motion of the surrounding molecule. For example, the use of relaxation time contrast can differentiate molecules via their characteristic rotational motions. The

The technique of Raman echo's in a vibrational degree of freedom of the nitrogen molecule is shortly described. The essential of this experiment is a phase-matching for a frequency box CARS configuration for (i) the two pumping as rephasing laser frequencies, and (ii) the probe laser pulse and the coherent anti-Stokes scattering, in such a way that there is also a definite phase-matching for pumping and rephasing pulse as well as for the probe pulse and the anti-Stokes pulse.
