The experiment on surgical treatable of 22 patients with iatrogenic “recent” injuries of extrahepatic biliary tracts is submitted. Primary reparative operation has been performed to 1 patient (suturing of hepaticocholedochus injury after Laparoscopic cholecystectomy). Reparative operations throughout Roux-en-Y biliodigestive anastomosis were performed to 19 patients (Roux-en-Y hepaticojejunostomy - 4, Roux-en-Y bihepaticojejunostomy - 13, Roux-en-Y trihepaticojejun

Background: The aim of this study was to evaluate the prevalence of H.pylori, before and one year after Roux-en Y gastric bypass surgery. Method: The laparoscopic research center database from 2018 to 2020 was queried to identify patients undergoing laparoscopic Roux-en Y gastric bypass surgery(LRYGB). Retrospectively, the patients were evaluated for the presence of H.pylori infection via endoscopy or H. pylori Stool Ag before and 1 year after the surgery. Results: Among the 106 patients, H.pylori was positive in 50 (47.2%) patients pre-operatively. Based on post-op evaluation among 54 patient

✓ Twenty-nine patients consecutively admitted with a diagnosis of communicating hydrocephalus underwent 1) continuous intracranial pressure (ICP) monitoring; 2) pressure-volume studies; and 3) measurement of resistance to outflow of cerebrospinal fluid (Rout). The two latter calculations were made by the bolus injection and pressure-volume index (PVI) techniques. In 19 patients mean ICP never exceeded 15 mm Hg. In the other 10 patients varying degrees of mildly raised ICP was noted. The frequency of waves at ½ to 2/min varied from 3% to 58%. The ICP pulse amplitude ranged from 0.5 to 10 mm Hg,

This study retrospectively analyzed the clinical efficacy of Uncut Roux-en-Y and Billroth II anastomoses in gastrointestinal reconstruction following laparoscopic D2 radical gastrectomy for distal gastric cancer. The primary objective was to compare the postoperative outcomes, including quality of life and complication rates, between the 2 surgical techniques. One hundred patients diagnosed with distal gastric cancer were enrolled between June 2020 and May 2023. Patients underwent laparoscopic D2 gastrectomy and were categorized into either the Uncut Roux-en-Y or Billroth II anastomosis groups

To contribute to the development of poultry farming in Ivory Coast, a study was carried out in the Lakes Region, precisely in Yamoussoukro. The aim of this study was to determine the influence of egg weight on their hatching. To do this, Kuroiler (29 females and 6 males) and Chair Roux (29 females and 6 males) breeders aged 6 to 7 months were used. After rearing, 483 eggs including 230 Chair Roux eggs and 253 Kuroiler eggs were collected over twenty-one days. After identification and determination of their weight, the eggs were classified into three categories (Small eggs from 35 to 45g), Medi

The discovery of Rous sarcoma virus, which was reported by Peyton Rous in the Journal of Experimental Medicine 100 years ago, opened the field of tumor virology. It showed that some cancers have infectious etiology, led to the discovery of oncogenes, and laid the foundation for the molecular mechanisms of carcinogenesis. Rous spent his entire research career at The Rockefeller Institute, and he was the JEM’s longest serving editor. Here, we comment briefly on the life of this remarkable scientist and on the importance of his discoveries.

Background Roux-en-Y gastric bypass increases circulating bile acid concentrations, known mediators of postprandial suppression of markers of bone resorption. Long-term data, however, indicate that Roux-en-Y gastric bypass confers an increased risk of bone loss on recipients. Methods Thirty-six obese individuals, median age 44 (26–64) with median body mass index at baseline of 42.5 (40.4–46) were studied before and 15 months after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass. After an overnight fast, patients received a 400 kcal mixed meal. Blood samples were collected premeal then at 30-min periods for 120 min.
