Abstract:
The structure of the mixing matrix in the electroweak quark sector with four generations of quarks is investigated. We conclude that the area of the unitarity quadrangle is not a good choice as a possible measure of the CP violation. In search of new physics, we analyze how the existence of the fourth quark family may influence on the values of the Cabibbo–Kobayashi–Maskawa matrix and we show that one can test for the existence of the fourth generation using the Jarlskog invariants of the known quarks only. The analysis based on the measured unitary triangle exhibits some tension with the assu

Let P be an n×n partial Latin square every non-empty cell of which lies in a fixed row r, a fixed column c or contains a fixed symbol s. Assume further that s is the symbol of cell (r,c) in P. We prove that P is completable to a Latin square if n≥8 and n is divisible by 4, or n≤7 and n∉{3,4,5}. Moreover, we present a polynomial algorithm for the completion of such a partial Latin square.

Abstract This paper describes the steps involved in generating a surface which interpolates a given set of input points. The approach presented departs from those reported in literature in two significant ways. The parametric values are assigned independently and not averaged over the row/column. This helps to localize changes during error optimization. The measure used for the interpolation error is the shortest distance between the input points and the surface and not the distance between the input point and its corresponding point as used in literature. This it is believed, is more intuitiv

The “twin-turbine” configuration has recently emerged as a feasible possibility for unidirectional turbines to be introduced in Oscillating Water Column wave energy plants without requiring auxiliary rectifying systems. Previous investigations by the authors have been focused on the development of a numerical CFD model to analyze the performance of a unidirectional axial turbine for twin turbine configuration in an OWC system. In this paper, all these numerical databases are further post-processed using a deterministic framework to give more insight about the flow patterns within the turbine.
