Abstract:
A small garrison of the British Royal Navy was swallowed up by the superior forces of a much larger nation in just a few hours. This may be the title of a report from the beginning of April 1982. The impact of Operation Rosario on the international arena and the evolution of the conflict was much more complex and had major repercussions on maintaining world peace. Why Argentina chose to invade the Falkland Islands and what caused the "spark" of the conflict to erupt at alarming levels, are questions whose answers you can find in this article. The Battle of Stanley was one of the most unequal armed actions between two states during the 20th century and drew a small group of South Atlantic islands to the attention of the whole world.

Büschingiem a dyrektorem Centralnej Biblioteki Śląskiej J.G. Schneiderem. Pierwsze nabytki biblioteczne. Działalność Wilhelma Wattenbacha. Nabytki, organizacja i pomieszczenia biblioteki archiwalnej do 1945 roku.FROM A DISPUTE TO A BOOK COLLECTION, I.E. ON THE POST-SECULARISATION ORIGINS AND DEVELOPMENT OF THE IDEA OF COLLECTING THE SPECIALIST LITERATURE IN THE FORMER STATE ARCHIVES IN WROCŁAW STAATSARCHIV BRESLAU UNTIL 1945Specialist literature collected from the first few decades of the existence of the State Archives in Wrocław was a form of specialist aid, with time becoming a collection complementing archive materials. The idea to compile the first independent collection emerged from a conflict between the first archivist, Johann Gustav Gottlieb Büsching and the director, from 1812, of the Central Silesian Library, located in the same building on the Sand Island, Johann Gottlob Schneider, an advocate of abolishing the existing privilege of free access of archivists to the library. The process of amassing archive literature was developed on a broader scale after Schneider’s death in 1822. Among the first publications acquired by the director of the then Royal Silesian Provincial Archives later State Archives, Gustav Adolf Harald Stenzel, were Johann Sinapius’ Schlesische Curiositäten and Friedrich Vater’s Repertorium der preussischen schlesischen Verfassung. Another source for obtaining specialist literature was regular donations from the Ministry of Internal Affairs. Considerablesupport for the creation of a typical archive library came from the director, from 1852, of thePrussian State Archives, Karl Wilhelm von Lancizolle, author of the first guidelines on collecting archive specialist literature. Soon another director of the Wrocław institution, Wilhelm Wattenbach, compiled a separate catalogue of acquisitions for the library collection. Eventually, the book collection of the former Staatsarchiv Breslau grew to about 30,000 volumes and contained all the most significant Silesian-themed works from the past. This made the Wrocław archive library ranked sixth among the forty libraries functioning in German state archives. However, the collection was lost when the Archives building in Tiergartenstrasse 13 was destroyed in 1945. Efforts to organise again specialist, Polish State Archives in Wrocław from scratch were undertaken already in the first few years after the second world war and have continued to this day.

Abstract:
World War II produced a major shift in global power relations and led to the emergence of bipolarism. The agreements reached by the Allies in Yalta in February 1945 sanctioned the USSR's rule over Eastern Europe. In this context, the takeover of political power and the changes imposed in the economy by the communists in Romania, with the direct help of the USSR was a logical consequence. All the events that took place in Romania between August 23, 1944 and December 31, 1947 were part of the logic of communizing the Romanian society and state on the Soviet model. The communization of Romania followed a path that provided for the invalidation of the liberal, democratic, bourgeois, capitalist model of society and the imposition of another communist, undemocratic, egalitarian, totalitarian model. In order to achieve this goal, measures had been brutally applied to restrict citizens' rights, both politically and in terms of expression or property. In this context, the change of the historical role of the Royal Palace from Cotroceni to the Palace of the Pioneers was part of the propagandistic activity of a totalitarian regime which, in the absence of popular legitimacy, by vote, had to "fabricate" a history to legitimize it in front of the Romanian people.

Abstract:

In this paper, the convolutional neural network (CNN) is used in order to design an efficient optical character recognition (OCR) system for the Tifinagh characters. indeed, this approach has proved a greater efficiency by giving an accuracy of 99%, this approach based in keys points detection using Harris corner method, the detected points are automatically added to the original image to create a new database compared to the basic method that use directly the database after a preprocessing step consisting on normalization and thinning the characters. Using this method, we can benefit from the power of the convolutional neural network as classifier in image that has already the feature. The test was performed on the Moroccan Royal Institute of Amazigh Culture (IRCAM) database composed of 33000 characters of different size and style what present the difficulty, the keys points are the same in the printed and handwritten characters so this method can be apply in both type with some modifications.

Abstract:
The purpose of this thesis is to examine the actor's process in tackling the roles of Harry Dalton in Equus by Peter Shaffer, Duke Senior in As You Like It by William Shakespeare, and Dionysus in The Bacchae by Euripedes. Each production is assigned its own chapter, respectively. The chapters explore each role vocally, psychologically, and physically, including the examination of the Alexander Technique. Reflection on the experience of portraying the character and an evaluation of the actor's growth also transpires. The fourth chapter, Finding My Light, summarizes related observations and analysis as a result of performing all three roles. Finally, the fifth chapter, Curtain Call: A Tableau of Contemplation, deliberates on three years of graduate education. It features the benefits and shortcomings realized as a result of participating as one of the first students the Professional Studio Acting Track of Virginia Commonwealth University.

Abstract:
Harry Dean Stanton arrived in Hollywood with solid stage training and confidence he would be a star at a time of great change in the film industry with the challenges of television, lingering bitterness over the communist witch hunting of the U.S. House for Un-American Activities Committee, and the steady decline of the studio system. After a bit part in Alfred Hitchcock's The Wrong Man (1956), Harry Dean began to pick up more substantive roles on television and in Westerns like Tomahawk Trail (1957) and The Proud Rebel (1958) with Alan Ladd and Olivia de Havilland. He joined character actors Royal Dano, Jack Elam, and Dub Taylor to become one of the increasingly familiar faces on television's The Untouchables, Laramie, Gunsmoke, Rawhide, and Dick Powell's Zane Grey Theater. Some of his fellow actors in supporting roles, like Warren Oates and Lee Van Cleef, would go on to become stars. For Harry Dean, the road was much longer.

Abstract:
This chapter takes seriously the Chorus’ avuncular description of Henry’s presence in the camp at Agincourt as ‘a little touch of Harry in the night’ (4.0. Chorus. 47). It draws on early modern and modern understandings of the royal touch to make the case that tactility in the play becomes the vehicle for reconfiguring sovereignty, exposing its fractured condition as well as efforts to reconstitute its integrity. For Henry, to touch is to redeem sovereign authority. His contemplation of the ritual effect of the royal touch to cure his own diseased condition, however, demonstrates the impossibility of sovereign redemption through touch. To the multitude in the play, however—Falstaff, Williams, Bates, even Katherine—tactility is an expression of individual sovereignty that agitates institutional power through body politics. In Henry’s quest for union between England and France, redemption and union are conjured, like magic, through his tactile encounter with Katherine. This magic does not serve a new politics of consensus; instead, it disavows what Henry knows too well—that his royal touch is powerless to make sensible the fugitive condition of a dissensual politics immanent at the core of his divided condition.

Abstract:
This chapter emphasizes Henry Cole and Prince Albert's intention to create a top-down system of industrial education, as seen in countries like France. It discusses how Cole sought to align the Great Exhibition with the movement for working-class self-sufficiency. It also talks about how Cole tried to use the Royal Society of Arts to set up new drawing schools for artisans in towns where there was not already a government school of design. The chapter draws attention to a civil servant named Harry Chester who wrote to the Society with a suggestion, imploring it to aid the mechanics' institutions in late 1851. It describes Chester's obsession to improve education, even inventing a slow-burning stove to make sure classrooms would be warm on cold mornings.

Abstract:
Here the politics of the British Isles is viewed in the context of the resolution of the French royal succession crisis—after Henry IV’s conversion to Rome. The gradual collapse of the Holy League had a knock-on effect in England and Scotland; arguments for excluding James VI as Elizabeth’s successor were now harder to make. But, as the regime in England turned legitimist, this provoked a range of critiques of indefeasible hereditary right. Prominent among them were the works of Catholic ideologues. The chapter concludes by looking at the peace treaty agreed between France and Spain in 1598, a peace which made necessary a toleration of the Huguenot minority (which some thought might be a precedent for tolerance of Catholic separatists in England); and also at the way that British succession issues were played out in a military setting in Ireland as the reign of Elizabeth drew to a close.

Abstract:
The preparation of engineering students for industrial careers after graduating is a vital part of the education process at university. It is the responsibility of the university to teach sound foundations of engineering science but this on its own is not sufficient preparation. The subject of design has been identified as a valuable means by which engineering science can be applied at advanced levels but at the same time teach students skills which are necessary for successful careers in industry. Three years ago, five senior engineers from UK industry were appointed as Visiting Professors in Engineering Design with the support of the Royal Academy of Engineering. In was decided after discussions with academics at the college to undertake a project entitled the Advanced Turbogenerator project (ATG). The project was to be conducted by a large team of undergraduates with the aim of producing a design and finally an actual small gas turbine of 50 kW output. Applications for the small gas turbine include the highly topical hybrid vehicle propulsion powertrain and compact low emissions generator sets. The paper describes the progress made in the project in two years which has involved over 30 final year engineering students in the Mechanical, Electrical, Aeronautical and Materials Science Departments. The students have found the project very challenging but have experienced an unusually high level of motivation and commitment to the work. They have been provided with state of the art software and have demonstrated that realistic designs can be produced with the guidance of experienced gas turbine engineers. The project has been reviewed by the Royal Academy of Engineering and the Institution of Mechanical Engineers and both have expressed the highest support for the programme. It is intended to continue the project next year with the intention of turning the design into prototype hardware.
