Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
After an analysis of certain legal texts, the authors have established that under Polish law the President of the Energy Regulatory Offi ce may conduct 56 diff erent types of auctions for generators of the electric energy from renewable sources (RSE). For each individual RSE installation complying with the RES parameters a separate auction may be carried. One RSE installation may take part in several RSE auctions provided it satisfi es the parameters of each individual installation. These parameters concern both the premises connected with the start-up process (the commencement of the production of electric energy) of a given installation and the premises of technical nature such as carbon dioxide emission or the level of the installation capacity used, as well as premises of a subjective character regarding individual producers participating in the auction. A detailed analysis of all types of RSE auctions described in the Act of 20 February 2015 on renewable sources of energy allows to determine which types of installation may take part in individual actions. However, of key importance from the point of view of the possibility of a RSE auction to be carried are secondary regulations which allow the Council of Ministers to determine individual types of RSE auctions in which the volume of energy, subject of the auction, will be made available. Consequently the Council of Ministers which runs the State policy within the area of RSE has become essentially responsible not only for the possibility of conducting an RSE auction, but also for the implementation of the EU climate and energy policy which is also binding upon Poland.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Among the challenges in industrial revolutions, 4.0 is managing organizations’ talents, especially to ensure the right person for the position can be selected. This study is set to introduce a predictive approach for talent identification in the sport of netball using individual player qualities in terms of physical fitness, mental capacity, and technical skills. A data mining approach is proposed using three data mining algorithms, which are Decision Tree (DT), Neural Network (NN), and Linear Regressions (LR). All the models are then compared based on the Relative Absolute Error (RAE), Mean Absolute Error (MAE), Relative Square Error (RSE), Root Mean Square Error (RMSE), Coefficient of Determination (R2), and Relative Square Error (RSE). The findings are presented and discussed in light of early talent spotting and selection. Generally, LR has the best performance in terms of MAE and RMSE as it has the lowest values among the three models.

Abstract:
In the preparation process of magnetorheological silly putty (MRSP), the influence factors of the relative shear thickening effect (RSE) and relative magnetorheological effect (RME) were studied by orthogonal experiments as well as range and variance analyses. The influence degree of each factor was also evaluated. The results showed that the viscosity of polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) and the mass fraction of carbonyl iron powder (CIP) had a significant influence on the RSE and RME, respectively. With an increasing PDMS viscosity, the RSE of the silicon-boron copolymer matrix first increased and then decreased, while the RME of MRSP decreased gradually. In addition, the shear thickening mechanism of MRSP was explored by the molecular chain motion. Finally, the impact energy with different samples was tested, and it is demonstrated that with the increasing cross section, the impact energy of the sample increases gradually, but the rate of increase becomes smaller.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
Abstract Relational self-esteem (RSE) refers to one’s sense of self-worth based on the relationship with significant others, such as family and best friends. Although previous neuroimaging research has investigated the neural processes of RSE, it is less clear how RSE is represented in multivariable neural patterns. Being able to identify a stable RSE signature could contribute to knowledge about relational self-worth. Here, using multivariate pattern classification to differentiate RSE from personal self-esteem (PSE), which pertains to self-worth derived from personal attributes, we obtained a stable diagnostic signature of RSE relative to PSE. We found that multivariable neural activities in the superior/middle temporal gyrus, precuneus, posterior cingulate cortex, dorsal medial Prefrontal Cortex (dmPFC) and temporo-parietal junction were responsible for diagnosis of RSE, suggesting that the evaluation of RSE involves the retrieval of relational episodic memory, perspective-taking and value calculation. Further, these diagnostic neural signatures were able to sensitively decode neural activities related to RSE in another independent test sample, indicating the reliability of the brain state represented. By providing a reliable multivariate brain pattern for RSE relative to PSE, our results informed more cognitively prominent processing of RSE than that of PSE and enriched our knowledge about how relational self-worth is generated in the brain.

Abstract:
Objective: The objective of this study is to identify risk factors for the development of refractory status epilepticus (RSE). Methods: This was an IRB-approved, retrospective case control study that included patients admitted with status epilepticus between August 1, 2014, and July 31, 2017. Cases were defined as those with RSE, and controls were those who did not develop RSE. A bivariate analysis was conducted comparing those with RSE and those without RSE. A stepwise logistic regression model was constructed predicting for progression to RSE. Risk factors for progression to RSE were extrapolated from this model. Results: A total of 184 patients met inclusion criteria for the study (99 controls and 49 cases). After adjusting for covariates in the logistic regression, patients with convulsive seizures had a lower odds of developing RSE (odds ratio [OR] = 0.375; 95% CI = 0.148 to 0.951; P = 0.0388). Treatment with benzodiazepines plus levetiracetam had a higher odds of developing RSE (OR = 3.804; 95% CI = 1.523 to 9.499; P = 0.0042). Conclusion and Relevance: This study found that patients with convulsive seizures had a lower odds of developing RSE. In addition, patients treated with benzodiazepines and levetiracetam had a higher odds of developing RSE. This information can be used to potentially identify patients at higher risk of developing RSE, so that treatment can be modified to reduce morbidity and mortality. These results may warrant further investigation into the effectiveness of levetiracetam as a first-line agent for the treatment of SE.

Abstract:
Introduction: Status epilepticus (SE) is a life-threatening neurological emergency requiring immediate medical intervention and is associated with high mortality and morbidity. The aim of this research was evaluation of clinical and etiological profile of refractory status epilepticus (RSE) among children aged between 1 month and 18 years. Material and methods: The study was done between January 1, 2017 and December 24, 2019. All children with the age limits mentioned above, who presented convulsive SE, subsequently with development in refractory status epileptic (RSE), were included in the study. Patients were investigated and evaluated according to a standard protocol. Subsequently, the characteristics of children with RSE and those without an evolution in RSE were compared. Results: 55 children, out of whom 32 boys with SE were enrolled in the study, of which 20 children (36%) developed RSE. Central nervous system (CNS) infections were the most common causes of SE and development of RSE (51% in SE and 53% in RSE, p > 0.05). Noncompliance of antiepileptic medication served as the second cause for evolution of RSE. The overall mortality rate was 10.9%, the chances of death in RSE (20%) being higher than in SE (5.7%). The unfavorable prognosis was seven times higher in children with RSE, compared to children who developed SE. Conclusions: In the management of CNS infections, pediatricians should be aware of the high risk of developing RSE. In addition, the possibility of developing RSE should be considered and promptly managed in an intensive care unit in order to reduce the risk of mortality and morbidity of this severe neurological condition

Abstract:

Comprehensive sexuality education (known as Relationships and Sex Education (RSE) in England), which is age-appropriate, accurate, realistic and non-judgemental, is a tool that enables children and young people to make informed decisions about their sexual health, sexuality and well-being. As such, it is crucial towards the realisation of many of the rights of children under the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child, such as, but not limited to, the rights to information, education and health. However, in the English guidance on RSE, there is very little consideration of children’s rights, and the requirement to involve parents in the shaping of RSE curricula as well as the right for parents to withdraw children from sex education lessons potentially hinders children’s access to RSE. In this paper, we discuss the views and experiences of teachers and professional educators to ascertain the position of children’s rights in the National Guidance on RSE and in the everyday practice of teaching RSE. Their views and experiences assist us in understanding some of the motivators and barriers to teaching RSE from the perspective of children’s rights. In analysing the English approach to RSE, we used Bourke, Mallon and Maunsell’s framework and considered RSE rights under the UNCRC from the perspective of the right to education; rights in education and rights through RSE.

Abstract:
In Pakistan, implementing road safety education (RSE) initiatives is vital in tackling the concerning rates of road accidents. Since parents and teachers are crucial in moulding children’s road safety behaviours, this study investigated the perspectives of parents and teachers regarding the acceptability of RSE programs in Pakistan. Using a mixed-methods approach, the research combines quantitative data from questionnaires (n = 63 teachers, n = 97 parents) with qualitative insights from interviews (five teachers, four parents). The study reveals significant gaps in RSE implementation across educational levels (i.e., primary, secondary, and high school), with not even half of the teachers reporting dedicated RSE programs in their curriculum, majorly in secondary and high schools. Both parents and teachers express dissatisfaction with current RSE effectiveness, highlighting a critical need for improvement. Key barriers to RSE implementation include cultural norms, inadequate infrastructure, and limited teacher training. However, the study also identifies a strong interest from parents and teachers in participating in effective RSE programs. Parents favour a mixed approach to RSE delivery, combining online and physical formats, and prefer short, frequent sessions for their children. The research underscores the need for a multidimensional RSE approach, addressing educational content, societal perceptions, and infrastructure improvements. These findings provide valuable insights for policymakers and educators to enhance RSE and improve children’s road safety knowledge in Pakistan.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Alzheimer’s disease (AD) is an age-related neurodegenerative disorder characterized by cognitive deficits, which are accompanied by memory loss and cognitive disruption. Rhodiola sachalinensis (RSE) is a medicinal plant that has been used in northeastern Asia for various pharmacological activities. We attempted to carry out the bioconversion of RSE (Bio-RSE) using the mycelium of Bovista plumbe to obtain tyrosol-enriched Bio-RSE. The objective of this study was to investigate the effects of Bio-RSE on the activation of the cholinergic system and the inhibition of oxidative stress in mice with scopolamine (Sco)-induced memory impairment. Sco (1 mg/kg body weight, i.p.) impaired the mice’s performance on the Y-maze test, passive avoidance test, and water maze test. However, the number of abnormal behaviors was reduced in the groups supplemented with Bio-RSE. Bio-RSE treatment improved working memory and avoidance times against electronic shock, increased step-through latency, and reduced the time to reach the escape zone in the water maze test. Bio-RSE dramatically improved the cholinergic system by decreasing acetylcholinesterase activity and regulated oxidative stress by increasing antioxidant enzymes (superoxide dismutase (SOD) and catalase (CAT)). The reduction in nuclear factor erythroid 2-related factor 2 (Nrf2)/heme oxygenase-1 (HO-1) signaling in the brain tissue due to scopolamine was restored by the administration of Bio-RSE. Bio-RSE also significantly decreased amyloid-beta 1–42 (Aβ1–42) and amyloid precursor protein (APP) expression. Moreover, the increased malondialdehyde (MDA) level and low total antioxidant capacity in Sco-treated mouse brains were reversed by Bio-RSE, and an increase in Nrf2 and HO-1 was also observed. In conclusion, Bio-RSE protected against Sco-induced cognitive impairment by activating Nrf2/HO-1 signaling and may be developed as a potential beneficial material for AD.

Abstract:
Research self-efficacy (RSE) and future problem-solving skills (FPSS) are considered essential elements that help post-graduate students. The current study examines the relationship between RSE and FPSS among college of education post-graduate students. The study sample comprised 98 post-graduate students, and the descriptive-correlational method was used. The researchers used the Future Problem Solving Scale (FPSSS), and research self-efficacy Scale (RSES). The results revealed that the research sample exhibited a high degree of FPSS and RSE, and a positive correlation between FPSS and RSE was observed. Regarding the gender variable, there was a difference in FPSS in favour of males and a difference in RSE in favour of females. With respect to disciplines, there was no difference between FPSS and RSE. Regarding the type of study, there were no differences among the research sample in FPSS; however, there were differences in RSE in favour of full-time students. The results also indicated that there were differences in FPSS and RSE, according to the state of study, in favour of those who completed their theses. It was also concluded that RSE can be predicted by FPSS. FPSS and RSE enhanced academic performance, critical thinking and creativity in the research sample. The research recommends the importance of developing FPSS in post-graduate programmes to enhance student performance in scientific research, promote critical thinking and encourage creativity in educational research.

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:

Abstract:
ObjectiveTo identify factors associated with treatment delays in pediatric patients with convulsive refractory status epilepticus (rSE).MethodsThis prospective, observational study was performed from June 2011 to March 2017 on pediatric patients (1 month to 21 years of age) with rSE. We evaluated potential factors associated with increased treatment delays in a Cox proportional hazards model.ResultsWe studied 219 patients (53% males) with a median (25th–75th percentiles [p25–p75]) age of 3.9 (1.2–9.5) years in whom rSE started out of hospital (141 [64.4%]) or in hospital (78 [35.6%]). The median (p25–p75) time from seizure onset to treatment was 16 (5–45) minutes to first benzodiazepine (BZD), 63 (33–146) minutes to first non-BZD antiepileptic drug (AED), and 170 (107–539) minutes to first continuous infusion. Factors associated with more delays to administration of the first BZD were intermittent rSE (hazard ratio [HR] 1.54, 95% confidence interval [CI] 1.14–2.09; p = 0.0467) and out-of-hospital rSE onset (HR 1.5, 95% CI 1.11–2.04; p = 0.0467). Factors associated with more delays to administration of the first non-BZD AED were intermittent rSE (HR 1.78, 95% CI 1.32–2.4; p = 0.001) and out-of-hospital rSE onset (HR 2.25, 95% CI 1.67–3.02; p < 0.0001). None of the studied factors were associated with a delayed administration of continuous infusion.ConclusionIntermittent rSE and out-of-hospital rSE onset are independently associated with longer delays to administration of the first BZD and the first non-BZD AED in pediatric rSE. These factors identify potential targets for intervention to reduce time to treatment.

Abstract:
Rytigynia senegalensis (Rubiaceae) is a plant used in African medicine for the treatment of diabetes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the in vitro antioxidant, enzyme inhibitory, and hypoglycemic effects of Rytigynia senegalensis extract (RSE). The contents of phenols, tannins, and flavonoids were determined by phytochemical screening. 2,2-Azino-bis-3-ethylbenzothiazoline-6-sulfonic acid (ABTS) and 2,2-diphenylpicrylhydrazyl (DPPH) were determined to evaluate the free radical scavenging capacity of the RSE. The inhibitory activity of α-amylase and α-glucosidase was evaluated in vitro using the α-amylase and α-glucosidase inhibition methods and in vivo using the sucrose and starch tolerance tests. The glucose tolerance test was performed on normal rats using doses of 50, 100, and 200 mg/kg of RSE. RSE contains total phenols (36.35 mg GAE/g of extract), flavonoids (11.91 mg QE/g of extract), and tannins (13.01 mg CE/g of extract). RSE exhibits significant radical scavenging activity on DPPH and ABTS radicals with an IC50 of 17.51 and 21.89 μg/mL, respectively. RSE showed an inhibitory effect on the activity of α-amylase and α-glucosidase with an IC50 of 308.93 and 354.13 μg/mL, respectively. RSE (100 and 200 mg/kg) caused a significant decrease in area under the curve and postprandial glycemia at 60, 90, and 120 min following the administration of starch or sucrose. Regarding the glucose tolerance test, RSE (100 and 200 mg/kg) significantly reduced postprandial hyperglycemia from the 90th min posttreatment. RSE lowered postprandial hyperglycemia and has antioxidant properties. These effects would be due to the presence of bioactive compounds in the RSE.

Abstract:

Abstract:
Mechanisms forPanax ginseng’s cardioprotective effect against ischemia reperfusion injury involve the estrogen-mediated pathway, but little is known about the role of androgen. A standardizedPanax ginsengextract (RSE) was orally given with or without flutamide in a left anterior descending coronary artery ligation rat model. Infarct size, CK and LDH activities were measured. Time-related changes of NO, PI3K/Akt/eNOS signaling, and testosterone concentration were also investigated. RSE (80 mg/kg) significantly inhibited myocardial infarction and CK and LDH activities, while coadministration of flutamide abolished this effect of RSE. NO was increased by RSE and reached a peak after 15 min of ischemia; however, flutamide cotreatment suppressed this elevation. Western blot analysis showed that RSE significantly reversed the decreases of expression and activation of PI3K, Akt, and eNOS evoked by ischemia, whereas flutamide attenuated the effects of these protective mechanisms induced by RSE. RSE completely reversed the dropping of endogenous testosterone level induced by I/R injury. Flutamide plus RSE treatment not only abolished RSE’s effect but also produced a dramatic change on endogenous testosterone level after pretreatment and ischemia. Our results for the first time indicate that blocking androgen receptor abolishes the ability ofPanax ginsengto protect the heart from myocardial I/R injury.
