We continue to consider the formation of ruled surfaces with a single method of their formation. In the first and second parts have been introduced more than forty options for specifying surfaces. These formations with the help of guide lines and surfaces are considered in a new aspect – as formation in science and production of all of ruled surfaces. The curvature theory of ruled surfaces has been studied in two different ways. The scalar formulation proceeds by defining a seqeunce of ruled surfaces associated with the trajectory ruled surface. The relative positions of these surfaces and their distribution parameters characterize the local properties of the original ruled surface. The other formulation uses dual vector algebra to transform the differential geometry of ruled surfaces into that of spherical curves. In each theory functions are obtained which characterize the shape of the ruled surface. This paper unites these formulations b

Abstract In this study, we define the generalized normal ruled surface of a curve in the Euclidean 3-space E3. We study the geometry of such surfaces by calculating the Gaussian and mean curvatures to determine when the surface is flat or minimal (equivalently, helicoid). We examine the conditions for the curves lying on this surface to be asymptotic curves, geodesics or lines of curvature. Finally, we obtain the Frenet vectors of generalized normal ruled surface and get some relations with helices and slant ruled surfaces and we give some examples for the obtained results.

AbstractThis paper discusses the design, fabrication and operational workflow of a novel hot-wire cutter used as an end effector for a robotic arm. Typically, hot wire cutters used a linear cutting element which results in ruled surfaces geometry. While several researchers have examined the use of hot wire cutter with cooperative robotic arms to create non-ruled surface geometry, this research explores the use of an actuated hot wire cutter manoeuver by a single robotic arm to produce similar form. The paper outlines the machine making process and its workflow resulting in a 1:1 scale prototype. The paper concludes by examining how the novel tool can be applied to an urban stage design. The research set up a fabrication procedure that has the potential to be deployed as an on-site fabrication methodology.

Among the famous dynamic string models conceived by Théodore Olivier (1793-1853) as a primary didactic tool to teach Descriptive Geometry, there are some that were strictly related to classic problems of stereotomy. This is the case of the biais passé, which was both a clear illustration of a special warped ruled surface and an example of how constructors dealt with the problem of building a skew arch, solving structural and practical stone cutting demands. The representation of the biais passé in Olivier's model achieved a perfect correspondence to its épure with Monge's Descriptive Geometry. This follow from the long development of representational tools, since the 13th century sketch of an oblique passage, as well as the improvement of constructive procedures for skew arches. Paradoxically, when Olivier presented his string model, the importance of the biais passé was already declining. Meanwhile other ruled surfaces were appropriated by architecture, some of which acquiring, beyond their inherent structural efficiency, a relevant aesthetic value.

Abstract:
This paper describes the use of the synthetic method through digital generative algorithms in the study of geometry. In particular, this paper describes the construction of a ruled surface that rests on three skew lines in the method of mathematical representation. This study is part of a bigger picture that has as its goal the renewal of the study of geometry according to the synthetic method, in other words through the use of drawing in the virtual laboratory. The drawing in this sense is a logical tool to understand the geometry in space. The possibility of constructing algorithms to generate and control geometric shape allows having a greater control on both the final form and, above all, on the generative process of form itself. This is particularly important for those who have a synthetic approach in the study of geometry. It refers to the ability to view the entire creative process of the shape and the ability to alter some parameters to improve the result. The representation of the algorithms allows having both an overview and a detailed view of the entire creative process.

Abstract:
Oxide particles resulting from precipitation have at least one dimension less than a few nanometers. Therefore, as their specific area (surface-to-mass ratio) may reach several hundred square meters per gram, the behavior of these particles is closely related to their surface physical-chemical characteristics. Thus, the dispersion state of particles in solution is dependent on attractive and repulsive forces between surfaces. The balance control of these forces limits the aggregation of particles and promotes the formation of sols or gels, or, contrariwise, flocculates the particles and separates them from a suspension. The divison state of solids resulting from precipitation is ruled by forces that exert themselves onto the surface (interfacial—or surface—tension). They determine the extent of the surface area and, therefore, the particle size. Adsorption of ions or molecules within the dispersion depends on forces exerting between soluble species and the surface. These forces may be due to electrostatic charges on the surface. They may also be due to the ability of the surface cations to be coordinated by soluble species and/or the ability of surface oxygenated groups to coordinate cations from solution. The attachment of various species on the surface of oxide particles plays a major role in various fields—for instance, the transport of matter in natural or industrial waters, catalysis and corrosion phenomena, formation of stable and homogeneous dispersions. It is somewhat difficult to characterize the surface of nanometer-sized objects from structural as well as chemical standpoints. The geometry of such small particles is not easily defined with precision, and the surface often includes defects such as steps, truncations, and stacking faults. These sites are difficult to recognize but exhibit largely variable chemical reactivities. In addition, the study of the oxide– solution interface is complicated because few of its physical quantities are experimentally accessible. These quantities are treated as fitting parameters in more or less complex modelings. The current state of the art, however, allows suitable interpretation of experimental data.

AFM & STM metrology has been around for a long time, and especially intense since it has been awarded by the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1986. Since then, many AFM & STM groove profile measurements on surface relief diffraction gratings have been presented. However, a wide review of the results of the use of AFM & STM methods for groove metrology of various surface relief gratings has not really been undertaken. The following problems are discussed in this chapter: the cantilever tip deconvolution, geometry, and radius; groove shapes and abrupt groove slopes; roughness; PSD functions; etc. Also, the author demonstrates comparisons with other widely-used metrology techniques and examples of AFM & STM data of bulk, coated, and multilayer-coated ruled, or holographic, or lithographic gratings having realistic groove profiles. These gratings were chosen because high quality efficiency data exists, in particular, for space gratings or/and X-ray gratings characterized by synchrotron radiation sources; and their groove profiles, together with random nanoroughness, were measured by AFM or STM to be included in rigorous efficiency and scattered light intensity calculus. In the present chapter, both the earlier published results and the recent, non-published yet results are described and discussed.
