This is a retrospective descriptive study, which aimed at knowing the characteristics of traffic accidents by motor vehicles in Maringá between 2005 and 2008. For the study, run over victims of traffic accidents in Maringá from 2005 to 2008 were considered, using data from the firefighter’s list of occurrences - 5th Fire Combat Team. 1841 victims were identified. From the total number of victims, the number of incidents recorded (1486) was studied: 399 happened in 2005, 376 in 2006, 361 in 2007 and 350 in 2008. Rearfoot strike (RFS) in children running produces impact forces that give rise to a transient stress wave traveling through the body. It could contribute to the development of injuries. The purpose of this study was to determine RFS prevalence during childhood while running at a self-selected velocity in a prospective longitudinal cohort study. A total of 175 children (68 girls), aged 6 to 14 years, participated in this study. The sample was divided into three age groups (age in 2016): 6-8 years, 9-11 years, and 12-14 years which were analysed three years later (2019). 2D video-based was used

The objective of this study was to develop an empirical model relating human running performance to some characteristics of metabolic energy-yielding processes using A, the capacity of anaerobic metabolism (J/kg); MAP, the maximal aerobic power (W/kg); and E, the reduction in peak aerobic power with the natural logarithm of race duration T, when T greater than TMAP = 420 s. Accordingly, the model developed describes the average power output PT (W/kg) sustained over any T as PT = [S/T(1 - e-T/k2)] + 1/T integral of T O [BMR + B(1 - e-t/k1)]dt where S = A and B = MAP - BMR (basal metabolic rate)

Based on a multi-attribute assessment of the environmental impacts and challenges associated with global Bitcoin (BTC) mining activities around the globe, we call for urgent action by the scientific, policy, and advocacy communities. The worldwide BTC mining network consumed 173.42 TWh of electricity during the 2020–2021 period, bigger than the electricity consumption of most nations. The mining process emitted over 85.89 Mt of CO2eq in the same timeframe, equivalent to the emission caused by burning 84 billion pounds of coal or running 190 natural gas-fired power plants. Abstract:
In global circulation models, poor coupling between convection parametrizations and the resolved dynamics poses significant obstacles to the representation of a range of convectively coupled atmospheric phenomena. Here we focus on one part of this coupling and ask whether the dynamical response to convection can adequately be captured when convection is parametrized only as heat and moisture sources to the resolved scale, (as is usually the case in convection parametrizations), and without including either mass, or vertical momentum transport terms. To this end, a ‘perfect’ convection parametr

Abstract:
Traditional methods for communicating the presence of maintenance activities and work zones have been done with a variety of fixed signs. The increase of in-vehicle connectivity on our roads—either directly integrated into the vehicle or via an application running on a mobile phone–provides an opportunity for additional communication to motorists about the presence of emergency vehicles, maintenance activities, or work zones. Although the exact form of the in-vehicle communication is evolving and will continue to do so, a critical first step is to leverage the extensive telematics currently de
