Abstract:
This article is dedicated to the analysis of fairy tales as a special genre of children's fiction literature with unique features and a long history. In the course of this work, the author gives definitions to the key concepts; examines correlation between the literary fairly tale and folk fairy tale, evolution of fairy tale genre, namely the works of Brothers Grimm. The article the stages of establishment of fairy tales as an independent genre in the history of literature. An attempt is made to determine the genre similarities that make fairy tales comprehensible within the framework of other linguocultures. Special attention is turned to the specificities of national cultural adaptation in translation of fairy tales from German into Russia, taking into account the peculiarities of translation transformations. The conducted analysis allows concluding that children’s fairy tale literature is a reflection of the national linguistic worldview, and largely depends on the existing in the society national cultural traits, mentality and perception of the world. These facts indicate that translation and adaptation of fairy tale literature requires the translator to understand the uniqueness of worldview of the people affiliating to different cultures, as well as convey the national cultural identity and specificities of foreign perception and mentality of the representatives of various linguocultures.

Non‐Russian readers of Russian fairy tales may find the stories disturbing and harsh, full of cruel and violent acts such as murders, robberies and other illegal actions. In Russia, however, many children grow up reading these fairy tales as part of an ordinary cultural upbringing. This article analyses the subject of elder abuse and disrespect of age as presented in Russian fairy tale works. On the basis of sociological research of the fairy tales, the author draws a conclusion about the prevalence of elder abuse and age discrimination portrayed in the analysed folk works.

Abstract:
This article is dedicated to the peculiarities of translating English and Chinese children's fairy-tales into the Russian language. Analysis is conducted on such key concepts as “children's fairy-tale”, “literary tale”, and “folklore tale”. The author examines the development stages of English literary tale and Chinese folk tale as independent genres. The main translation transformations used in translating English literary tales and Chinese folk tales into the Russian are explored. Special attention is given to the translation of fairy tales as a form of cross-cultural dialogue due to the fact that such works are loaded with the ethnic-cultural components. The conducted analysis reveals the major challenges face by the translators in dealing with fairy-tale literature. The conclusion is made that the translation of fairy-tale requires taking into account not only the unique genre as such, but also the ethnic-cultural distinctness of different linguistic cultures, foreign mentality, and cultural identity. The scientific novelty consists in the attempt to establish whether it is possible to achieve success in cultural adaptation of English literary tales and Chinese folk tales into the Russian language. The acquired results indicate that the major challenge in translation and cultural adaptation lies in conveyance of cultural uniqueness, as well as ethnic, historical and national flavor of the original texts; it is essential to remember that translation of children’s fairy tale is part of the process of cross-cultural communication, and the translator must become an intermediary of the dialogue of cultures. Fairy tales bear the cultural code of a particular ethnos, being the key to comprehension of the worldview of its representatives. It conveys the socially significant information, embeds moral values, illustrates ethnic-cultural peculiarities, and preserves cultural heritage.

Abstract At the beginning of the twentieth century, Viktor Vasnetsov (1848-1926) started his work on the cycle Poema semi skazok [The Poem of Seven Fairy Tales] (1900-26). This self-imposed task included seven monumental paintings depicting popular Russian folktales. Yet, among the representations of famous Russian fairy tale characters, there is a canvas that centers on the Spiashchaia tsarevna [Sleeping Tsarevna] (1900-26), a character originally from Western Europe. This article will focus on the depths of the impact of Western traditions on this seemingly Russian painting by first elaborating on the development of Sleeping Beauty as a character in fairy tales and the spread of her popularity as far as Russia and second by analyzing the painting itself for Russian and European elements in composition and style.

Abstract:
Researches of the discursive analysis become more and more significant sphere of linguistics. Both forest and house act as two main and never identical worlds. The fundamental conceptual opposition of fairy-tale discourse is based on the concepts of house and forest, fundamental opposite worlds. The purpose of the article is to examine the two concepts as crucial components of friend-or-foe opposition, and to reveal features of their representation in Russian linguistic culture. During the research, the author used descriptive, inductive and cultural-historical methods. The research showed that the concepts of forest and house are key components of fairy-tale discourse, have nationally specific features in Russian fairy-tales revealed in the texts. The theoretical relevance of the article lies in the fact that contributes to working out the problem of national worldview representation and Russian ethnos mentality. The practical relevance of the article consists in possibility of using its materials in the process of teaching, while compiling lectures, guides for teachers, seminars on fairy-tale discourse. A role of house and forest for Slavic people is really significant. Besides, the results of the study show the necessity of further analysis of fairy-tale discourse, more detailed description of the concepts and their comparison with the concepts of other national fairy-tales.

Folklore plays an important role in studying social development, socioeconomics, customs and habits. Because language is a special level of vocabulary, studying folklore and language of fairy tale is crucial for understanding social development. Compared with other types of folk literature and art, fairy tales are the most popular and most extensive genre, which contains rich ideas accumulated by people over the centuries. Abstract:
The majority of interpretations of literary animals focus on the animals' metaphoric or symbolic significance, overlooking the actual animal, which often completely disappears behind its metaphoric or mythological representation. Such traditional interpretations of animals expose the dominant anthropocentric focus of the humanities in general, and literary studies in particular. Yet, even as textual representations a lot of literary animals still exhibit some basic species-specific characteristics. By analyzing selected Russian fairytales through the animal studies perspective I will show that in a lot of Russian fairytales animals exercise their agency, retain their animal specificity and are involved in complex companionate relationships with humans. Such portrayal of animals in Russian fairytales warrants identifying traditional Russian worldview as ecosystemic – in which humans are positioned on an equal plane with other living beings. Given the insufficient number of interpretive works on Russian fairytales, and the lack of work on fairytale animals, the present application of animal studies to Russian folktales can be one of the first steps to filling this niche.
Les analyses des animaux dans la littérature se concentrent pour la plupart sur la signification de l'animal métaphorique ou symbolique et negligent par là même l'animal réel qui disparaît souvent derrière sa représentation métaphorique ou mythologique. Ces interprétations traditionnelles révèlent l'anthropocentrisme qui domine dans les sciences humaines en général, et les études littéraires en particulier. Pourtant, les animaux dans la littérature retiennent encore des caractéristiques spécifiques à leur espèce. En analysant certains contes de fées russes du point de vue des études animales, je vais montrer que les animaux gardent leur capacité d'être agent, qu'ils conservent leur spécificité animale et qu'ils sont impliqués dans des relations complexes comme compagnons des humains. Cette représentation des animaux dans les contes de fées russes montre que la vision traditionnelle du monde russe est écosystémique – c'est-à-dire que les humains sont sur un même plan d'égalité que les autres êtres vivants. Compte tenu du nombre insuffisant d'analyses sur les contes de fées russes, et du manque d'analyses sur les animaux dans les contes de fées en général, la présente étude représente une étape importante pour combler cette lacune.

This chapter attempts to clarify the importance of the connections between witches and fairies coupled with their deep roots in pagan and Greco-Roman beliefs by moving away from western Europe to look at the great witch Baba Yaga of Slavic countries. It cites three reasons for concentrating on Baba Yaga and Slavic fairy tales. The first one regards neglect. For the most part, the focus of folklore and fairy-tale studies in the United States and western Europe has been on the works of the Brothers Grimm and other notable western European writers and folklorist. The second is to understand the relationship between goddesses, witches, and fairies. The third reason is that a brief analysis of Baba Yaga tales with a focus on the neglected work Russian Folk Tales (1873), translated and edited by W.R.S. Ralston (1828–89), might assist us in grasping how oral and literary traditions work together to reinforce the memetic replication of fairy tales.

Abstract:
The essay focuses on the problem of national identity in the modern fairy tale for adult audience, on the example of texts by modern Russian writers (Alexander Kabakov, Andrey Stepanov, and Dmitry Glukhovsky). After analyzing what is common and what is different in the poetics of the fairy tales by the mentioned authors, as well as the strategies of portraying modern Russia in the transition period of Perestroika, I discuss the theme of the national identity in these texts and its meaning. The paper also highlights the properties of the contemporary fairy tale that addresses topical issues of the day. One of such properties is the national question, another one is the so-called “eternal question” concerning Russian civilization and its choice between the East and the West.

Abstract:
The history of study of the Russian literary tales is set out in writing as emergence of tendencies or existence of different schools and their representatives. Every epoch, trend and certain scientists advanced the new ideas carried on by other experts in the process of further development of science. Therefore, the description of the history of study of tales corresponds to the description of evolution of this scientific branch according to some tendencies demonstrating and concentrating certain issues. The study of the literary tales is asserted to be closely associated with the history of the country and the ways of reflection of people’s self-consciousness. The public, literary and scientific interest in the tales came into existence as far back as the XVIII-th c., went through the period of astounding growth in the XIX-th c., the decline in the first half and the renaissance in the second half of the XX-th c. The stable attention to tales is paid at the turn of the XXI-st century. Scientists persistently searched a platform for the systematization of tales, examined the peculiarities of this genre – its main features, characteristics, definitions – in order to distinguish tales from other genres. Both a form of a tale and its content – with the prospective morals – were carefully analysed. The form and the content (or the idea) either were separated or opposed till the scientists came to the brilliant thought of their unity as the form represented a shell in which an idea or a world-view found their expression. A great Russian scientist A. Veselovskiy insisted on the necessity of creating morphology of tales, later this task was performed by the other famous Russian researcher V. Propp. V. Propp did not fix the separate features in poetics of tales but he focused on their structure and composition as a whole. Also, the relation of constant, invariable elements of tales to changeable, variable elements was gradually studied and defined. The modern scientific views are based on the thought that the essence of literary tales as the phenomenon of spiritual culture is likely to be expanded in the process of studying the origin, the development, the interpretation of tales and exceeding the limits of the genre. In the present article the point of view is illustrated that the history of tales is so complex and their study is so difficult that they can hardly ever be kept within the definite bounds. The fairy tales of A. Pushkin have the peculiar attractiveness because they bear the stamp of genius of their creator. The present research in hermeneutics of the Russian literary tales is based on the tales by A. Pushkin as the most capacious hermeneutical paradigms. It should be noted that for the first time an attempt to reveal and interpret their hidden, inherent meanings has been made on the basis of hermeneutics of the works of art.

The main idea of this work was to study gender representations in the English “Ballad of Tam Lin”, the Russian fairy tale “Finist the Bright Falcon” and the Turkish tale “Patience-Stone” through the analysis of language units with implicit gender semantics. These folklore narratives have important similarities featuring the female protagonist as the main plot driver and possessor of cultural wisdom. They follow the “female savior” scenario, depicting women as decisive and challenging the traditional role of a decorative victim.

Abstract:
В статье рассматривается отношение к пространству фронта как к объекту туристского ин-тереса со стороны участников военных событий. Основными источниками исследования стали ав-тодокументальные тексты участников военных действий на территории Галиции и Буковины в го-ды Первой мировой войны, путеводители по Галиции, издававшиеся в России накануне и в годы войны, а также официальные документы Штаба Юго-Западного фронта. Являясь частью империи Габсбургов, занятая российской армией по праву войны Восточная Галиция существенно отлича-лась от российской территории и отношение к ней как к «иной» задавало туристский взгляд на неё. Статья показывает политику армейского руководства по отношению к местному населению, а также восприятие Галиции комбатантами. Автор приходит к выводу, что преобладающие в офи-циальных документах политический (полонофильский, украинофильский, русофильский) и на-циональный (отношение к российской армии со стороны русинов, поляков и евреев) аспекты до-полняются туристским взглядом комбатантов на природу и исторические памятники Галиции. The article considers the attitude to the space of the front as an object of tourist interest on the part of combatants. The main sources of the study were the auto-documentary texts of participants in military operations on the territory of Galicia and Bukovina during the First World War, travel guides to Galicia published in Russia on the eve and during the war, as well as official documents of the Headquarters of the South-Western Front. Being part of the Habsburg Empire, Eastern Galicia occupied by the Russian army by the right of war was significantly different from the Russian territory and the attitude to it as the “other” created a tourist view. The article shows the policy of the military forces in relation to the local population, as well as the perception of Galicia by the combatants. The author concludes that the prevailing political (Polonophile, Ukrainophile, Russophile) and national (attitude to the Russian army on the part of Rusyns, Poles and Jews) aspects in official documents are complemented by the tourist view of the combatants on the nature and historical monuments of Galicia.

Abstract:
В данной статье описан фрагмент психотерапевтической работы в парадигме юнгианского анализа с использованием метода амплификации с пациентом, имеющим пограничное расстройство психики. Амплификация — инструмент аналитической работы, введенный в практику К.Г. Юнгом, позволяющий исследовать и интерпретировать явные и скрытые психодинамические процессы через символический язык. По сути процесс амплификации — осмысление индивидуальной психической жизни индивида посредством использования коллективного опыта знаний: мифов, легенд, сказок и т.п. Современная психология, считал Юнг, так или иначе, имеет дело с продуктами бессознательной фантазии - мифологическими и сказочными мотивами, наиболее объективно отражающими динамику психической жизни. «Пользуясь методом мифологической амплификации, мы выбираем те или иные аналогии потому, что их смысловое ядро идентично содержанию исследуемых процессов или в каком-то отношении походит на него. Принимая в качестве данности, что все, когда-либо выраженное человеком в словесной или образной форме, обладает абсолютной психической реальностью, мы можем утверждать, что любая аналогия помогает уточнить, объяснить и подтвердить наше толкование мотивов бессознательных процессов» [4]. В случае с данным пациентом универсально подошла русская народная сказка «Пойди туда — не знаю куда, принеси то — не знаю что» [22]. Опираясь на исследования признанных авторов психоанализа и аналитической психологии, амплификацию этой сказки можно рассматривать как абрис мужского пути индивидуации, «синтетического процесса», описанного К.Г.Юнгом [12]. «Возможной целью, здоровым предназначением ассимилирующих процессов является путь индивидуации, подразумевающий самоосуществление, становление человека самим собой. Индивидуация от лат. in-dividuus означает «неделимый», «неразделенный», «неразведенный», «нерасщепленный» [19]. Индивидуация предполагает достижение психически нового интегрированного состояния, установление устойчивой связи между эго (осознаваемый идентифицированный образ «Я») и архетипом Самости (сложный центр психической жизни, соединяющий бессознательные и сознательные знания человека о себе самом и трансформирующий личность,). Амплификация данной сказки позволяет исследовать внутрипсихическое взаимодействие архетипической пары — маскулинного начала в сознательном поле мужчины и женского в его бессознательном — на разных этапах развития. Подобное взаимодействие отражает реальные отношения с противоположным полом, отзеркаливая внутреннюю/внешнюю мужскую/женскую часть личности. Также данная амплификация дает возможность предположить, что является основным фактором, «запускающим» процесс индивидуации у мужчин. This article describes a fragment of psychotherapeutic work in the paradigm of Jungian analysis using the amplification method with a patient with borderline mental disorder. Amplification is a tool of analytical work introduced into practice by C.G. Jung, which allows to investigate and interpret explicit and hidden psychodynamic processes through symbolic language. In essence, the amplification process is the comprehension of an individual's individual mental life through the use of collective experience of knowledge: myths, legends, fairy tales, etc. «In myths and fairy tales, as in dreams, the soul tells its own story, and the interaction of archetypes is revealed in its natural frame: "creation, re-creation, eternal spirit eternal entertainment»[13]. In the case of this patient, the Russian folk tale «Go there — I don't know where, bring that — I don't know what» was universally suitable [22]. Based on the research of recognized authors of psychoanalysis and analytical psychology, the amplification of this fairy tale can be considered as an outline of the male path of individuation, a «synthetic process» described by C.G. Jung[12]. «A possible goal, a healthy purpose of assimilating processes is the path of individuation, implying self-fulfillment, becoming a person himself. Individuation from Lat. in-dividuus means «indivisible», «undivided» [19]. Individuation presupposes the achievement of a psychically new integrated state, the establishment of a stable connection between the ego (a conscious identified image of the «I») and the archetype of the Self (a complex center of mental life that connects the unconscious and conscious knowledge of a person about himself and transforms the personality). The amplification of this fairy tale allows us to explore the intrapsychic interaction of the archetypal pair — the masculine principle in the conscious field of a man and the female in his unconscious — at different stages of development. Such interaction reflects a real relationship with the opposite sex, mirroring the inner/outer male/female part of the personality. Also, this amplification makes it possible to assume that it is the main factor «triggering» the process of individuation in men.
