Purpose The purpose of this paper is to investigate the role of perceived food quality and consumer ethnocentrism and potential trade-offs between these two concepts in Russian consumers’ food purchase decisions after the implementation of the Russian import ban. Design/methodology/approach Survey data were collected via in-person interviews in the City of Perm, which is one of the largest and most industrial cities in Russia. A double-bounded dichotomous-choice contingent valuation model is utilized to estimate willingness to pay (WTP) and to analyze factors that affect consumers’ choice. Fin

The purpose of the study is to develop rec-ommendations for the use of food sharing in food retail in Russian Federation, taking into account legislative initiatives to regulate the distribution of food surplus. An analysis of the legislative initiative submitted to the State Duma of the Russian Federation was carried out. It is shown that the optimal op-tion for food sharing in Russia is its imple-mentation based on the food retail trade in-frastructure. It is shown that food sharing should become an important element of the food retail business model and a tool for its ESG transformation.

One of the major targets of modern agri-food policy in Russia is a significant increase of agri-food exports — almost twice as much by 2024. In this projection, China is viewed as the most promising market. However, Russia's entrance to the Chinese market faces a number of constraints. In addition to the standard difficulties associated with Russia's agricultural and food exports (export infrastructure constraints, expensive logistics, and import bans on certain Russian products), there are fundamental constraints on supply to China in the long-term. Abstract We analyse the impact of the Russian food embargo on European and Russian trade patterns using a triple-difference estimation strategy. We quantify the embargo-induced loss in EU28 exports at €125 million per month. Only 45 per cent of the drop in EU exports of banned products to Russia was due to the ban. EU member states were unevenly affected by the ban. The estimated losses of welfare in Russia range from 0.2 to 0.6 per cent (In absolute terms, this represents €18 to €58 of the 2013 revenue of the average Russian consumer.).
