Summary Ukraine has long been a multilingual nation, with the use of Ukrainian or Russian as the primary language showing notable regional differences. This article presents the results of an academic experiment dedicated to learning Russian by Chinese students, utilizing the program “I Understand!”. “I Understand!” is an innovative system of working on authentic audio-visual film production, this system was created for foreign language speakers learning Russian as second lan-guage (RSL) at B1–B2 level. The program has been implemented in 6 universities in Russia and China since 2022 and is regarded as a first application of elements of academic theatrical methodology (“Stanislavski Method”) and professional dubbing of films by RSL students.

Diminutive forms of the Russian language are considered by the author of the article from the perspective of their functional-semantic syncretism and communicative-pragmatic potential, manifested in everyday communication with children in the Russian-speaking environment and in the film speech of characters in children’s animated films. The tendency of the prevalence of diminutive forms in Russian-language translations of children's animated films over those in the English-language originals, discovered by the author, is qualified by the author as a translation strategy of emotive replacement.

This film is an oral history about the intergenerational relationship between three women: my grandmother, my mother, and I. Through our connection I explore the Russian traditions that my grandmother has cultivated and shared among the three of us, in particular, the tradition of fortune telling. I also explore my grandmother's struggle with dementia. Although her memory is fading, she can still remember the practice of reading fortunes and that tradition has preserved our bond and her legacy.

This article describes a method for analyzing the relevant characteristics of audio signals of in-terjections on the example of the Russian language. Audio signals interjections WOW! recorded on a dictaphone and pronounced with different intonation. Interjections are recorded as WAV files for the Russian language using the Praat software product.
