The research aims to identify the peculiarities of the reception of Russian village prose in China in the 1980s. The article deals with one of the most important unofficial imperial symbols of Russia - the Russian bayonet. For quite a long historical period, 1790-1945, the bayonet remained a metaphor for military, state, and national power. This thesis is the first book-length study to explore the function of Russian obscene language (mat) in late Soviet and post-Soviet prose published between the late 1970s and the late 1990s. This period was characterised by radical socio-ideological transformations that also found expression in major shifts of established literary and linguistic norms. This chapter examines the history of Russian literary translations into Hindi, starting with the founder of modern Hindi literature, Munshi Premchand (1880-1936), who translated Lev Tolstoy. Abstract:
Latvian exile literature was formed when a part of Latvian society left homeland, when the country was reoccupied by the Soviet army at the end of the Second World War. Exile society and, accordingly, literature maintained both the dream of restoring independence and returning to the homeland as the goal of the exiles. The independence was regained after 45 years and this makes the concept of return problematic. This motif is one of the essential ones in post-exile literature. The article shows how the “village layer” is formed in his prose, and how important the Middle Eastern experience is for the author.
