The TiO2-based photocatalysts have been synthesized by using sol-gel process and their photocatalytic activities were studied by the degradation of methylene blue (MB). It was shown that the calcination temperature has great influence on the crystalline phase transition of TiO2. For all the samples (Ag-doped and undoped TiO2photocatalysts) calcined at 573K, only anatase phase was observed from XRD diffraction spectra and the intensity of peaks is weak. After the calcined at 773K, a mixture of anatase-rutile phase appeared. The contents of rutile phase were about 85% and77% for undoped and Ag-adopted TiO2photocatalysts.There were only rutile phases for all the TiO2photocatalysts calcined at 973K observed from XRD diffraction spectra. Magnetically stirring time of A solution before added B had no obvious effects on the polymorphs transition of TiO2.

Concordant baddeleyite and rutile analyses from mineralized Nipissing diabase at Gowganda's Castle mine yield a U–Pb age of [Formula: see text]. Baddeleyite is a primary phase of the diabase; therefore the age dates the magmatic emplacement. The genesis of rutile is less certain: rutile could have formed during an episode of alteration, veining, and Ag mineralization, in which case the U–Pb age would also date the secondary event and demonstrate that Ag mineralization was related to the Nipissing magmatism. However, a primary magmatic origin of the rutile cannot be completely excluded for now; thus the U–Pb age may not constrain the time of Ag mineralization. Further research is needed to clarify this point.

Abstract:
One of the most important issues in photocatalysis research has been the development of TiO2-based photocatalysts that work efficiently under visible light conditions. Here, we report the monodispersed, spherical TiO2 particles with disordered rutile surface for use as visible-light photocatalysts. The spherical TiO2 particles with disordered surface were synthesized by sol-gel synthesis, followed by sequential calcination, and chemical reduction process using Li/Ethylenediamine (Li/EDA) solution. Variation of the calcination temperature allowed the crystalline properties of the calcined TiO2 samples, such as the ratio of anatase and rutile, to be finely controlled. The content ratios of anatase phase to rutile phase leads to different degrees of disorder of the rutile surface, which is closely related to the photocatalysis activity. Chemical reduction using the Li/EDA solution enables selective reduction of the rutile surface of the calcined TiO2, resulting in enhanced light absorption. As a result, we were able to synthesize spherical TiO2 photocatalysts having a disordered rutile surface in a mixed crystalline phase, which is beneficial during photocatalysis in terms of light absorption and charge separation. When used as photocatalysts for hydrogen production under solar light conditions, the chemically-reduced TiO2 particles with both the disordered rutile surface and mixed crystalline phase showed significantly enhanced catalytic activity.

Abstract:
This study aims at analyzing the chemical resistance of a wide range additives in air curing fluorocarbon coatings. Scanning Electron Microscope (SEM) and Immersion tests are used to detect coatings performances. The results showed that the surface state of coating does not affect the chemical resistance. While fumed SiO2 content in the coating is lower than 5.2%, chemical resistance are enhanced as the increasing of fumed SiO2 content, then maintained stability as content is more than 5.2%. Chemical resistance is increased gradually while the rutile TiO2 content of coating is less than 3.1%, and essentially unchanged while greater than 3.1%. As wax powder content increases, chemical resistance of coating decreased. Coupling agent content increases, leading to enhanced chemical resistance of the coating when coupling agent content is less than 5.8% and maintained stable while greater than 5.8%. So fumed SiO2, rutile TiO2, and coupling agent would inhance chemical resistance for coating to a certain extent, and wax powder would weaken the chemical resistance.

Abstract:
Abstract An estimate of TiO2 activity (aTiO2melt-sat) is necessary for the application of trace-element thermobarometry of magmatic systems where melts are typically undersaturated with respect to rutile/anatase. Experiments were performed in the system SiO2-Na2O-TiO2 to develop two independent methods of estimating aTiO2melt-sat—one based on the commonly applied rutile-saturation technique and another utilizing a novel Ti-in-tridymite thermometer. It is demonstrated that the rutile-saturation model can lead to an overestimate of aTiO2melt-sat relative to TiO2 activity calculated using the solubility of Ti in tridymite (SiO2) coexisting with rutile. Overestimation via the rutile-saturation technique is due to variations in the solubility mechanisms of Ti in the melt phase as a function of Ti content. In natural systems, overestimates of aTiO2melt-sat will lead to an underestimation of crystallization temperatures by Ti-based trace-element thermobarometers. Although this study is not directly applicable to natural systems, it lays the groundwork for future research on natural composition magmas to constrain TiO2 activity in melts.

Oxidation and reduction of high-titanium slag were conducted in a self-designed fluidized bed. Detailed analyses of the leaching mechanism and kinetics were also performed. The effects of oxidation temperature, oxidation time, reduction temperature, and time on leaching products and on the leaching behavior of impurity were systematically investigated via conditional tests. The optimal conditions of the conditional tests are as follows: oxidation temperature of 1,0001,100°C, oxidation time of 3070 min, reduction temperature of 700800°C, and reduction time of 90150 min. Scanning electronic microscope and X-ray diffract analyses show that the phase structure of the high-titanium slag changed after fluidizing oxidation and reduction, which is when a major phase of the high-titanium slag was changed from pseudobrookite to rutile. The change had an important role on pulverization ratio reduction and on the creation of a new technology route for the use of titanium resource in Panzhihua in manufacturing synthetic rutile.

Abstract:
Using first-principle calculations, the surface energy, cohesive energy, and electronic properties of α-MnO2 and rutile TiO2 nanorods and microfacets were investigated and clarified to, in the first instance, determine the evolution mechanism. The results show that the surface energies of α-MnO2 nanorods and microfacets conform to function 1.0401 Jm−2 + N × 0.608 Jm−2, while the surface energies of the rutile TiO2 nanorods and microfacets are governed by a 1.0102 × 1.1997 rule. Their electronic properties, such as the Mulliken population and Mulliken charge, can only be normalized by their surface areas to attain a linear function. Meanwhile, the surface energy of α-MnO2 with the nanostructure closely conforms to the function for normalized Mulliken population and Mulliken charge as f(x)=102.9×x+0.101 with an R2 value of 0.995. Thus, our research into the evolution mechanism affecting the surface effect of nanometer materials will be useful for investigating the intrinsic mechanism of the nanometer effect and doping process of metallic dioxide catalysts.

Assane, Ali Ossufo. "Distribution of heavy minerals sand in Namalope deposit, Moma district, Mozambique." Thesis, Rhodes University, 2014. http://hdl.handle.net/10962/d1012169.

Full text
Abstract:
The spatial distribution of heavy minerals along the mine paths 2014 and 2015 at the wet concentrate plant B shows an increase of heavy minerals sand concentration northwards and slime contents southwards, and it is commonly associated with depth and grain sorting; the increase of heavy minerals concentration with depth is considered to be from the surface formed by Unit 6 to the bottom of Unit 7. The Unit 82 is characterized by low heavy minerals concentrations and high slime contents declining northwards. The mineral proportion estimation suggests that ilmenite is the most abundant heavy mineral in the entire area followed by zircon, rutile and mozanite, and some accessory minerals such as chromite, kyanite, staurolite, tourmaline, epidote, spinel and quartz. The ilmenite occurrence is divided into ilmenite low (< 53% TiO₂) and high (> 53% TiO₂); the ilmenite high with zircon and rutile shows tendency to increase northwards while ilmenite low increase southwards. Zircon, monazite, rutile, chromite, kyanite and staurolite show low variability, which is probably associated with high resistance of minerals for abrasion during transportation and diagenesis. The depositional model of the Namalope deposit, in the flat area and wet concentrate plant B in particular, suggests deposition in a shallow marine environment associated with regression for deposition of Unit 6, 7 and 9 and transgression during deposition of Unit 82. The spatial distribution of heavy minerals in the Namalope deposit and its environment of deposition are the key points for discovery of new deposits around the Namalope with the same characteristic of mineral assemblage and they are used for mine strategic plans such as update block model and mine design.

Abstract

In 2008 1510 refugee children and adolescents arrived in Sweden without their guardians. Many of them came from Iraq and Afghanistan. The purpose of this essay is to make a survey and compare the routines of four youth hostels for unaccompanied asylum-seeking children. The main issues concern routines in the fields of introduction, everyday life, health, leisure activities, school, social network and development of their identity. The basis of the analysis is The Convention on the rights of the child of The United Nations, Randall Collins theory of interaction rituals and research on the subject. The literature has in most part been collected from databases. The qualitative method and semi-structured interviews are used in the collection of the data. The interview material has been analysed using a phenomenological approach. The main findings are: In the introduction adult support and basic information are important components. The daily routines consist of guidelines about, e.g. basic human needs, household chores and communication. Concerning health there are routines in the field of physical ailments. The mental wellbeing is though more often mentioned. There are routines about individual and group activities. Regarding school routines about starting school, home-work and school refusal are described. In the matter of their social network there are routines for the contact with relatives, friends and legal guardians and extension of the network. To guide them on their way to an adult identity there are routines for e.g. the prevention of drugs and violence.

Keywords: unaccompanied refugee children, adolescents, youth hostels, routines.

Abstract:

Abstract The purpose of this research was to produce semiconductor Rutile TiO2 films using a new deposition method on F-doped SnO2 (FTO) glasses i.e. nanofluid boiling method, using TiO2 nanoparticles. A low-temperature synthesis without using conventional hydrothermal methods was established to obtain the Rutile TiO2 nanoparticles with different size and shape under different temperatures. The crystalline TiO2 was separated from the reaction liquid by centrifugation and dried under ambient condition. The current boiling deposition of the TiO2 nanofluid was found to form porous semiconductor TiO2 nanoparticle films without cracks in the deposited TiO2 film. The obtained TiO2 films will be utilized as TiO2 photoanodes in dye-sensitized solar cells.

Abstract:
Underwater wet welding (UWW) with shielded metal arc welding (SMAW) is employed basically in repairs of offshore structures, including platforms, ships and others. The main problems of this type of welds are related, of course, with water presence in the electric arc that causes higher cooling rates, Oxygen and Hydrogen availability in the arc atmosphere and arc instability. Many of research and test welding programs in laboratory are undertaken in shallow water performed by automatic devices using hyperbaric chambers to simulate depths. Also, welding arc signals are acquired using data acquisition systems and the arc stability is estimated through indexes calculated from values acquired and analyzed. It is very well known the reduced stability of the wet welding process at shallow depths — less than approximately five meters. So this effect would be considerable significant since it can be used to make correlations between the arc stability indexes and the welds quality results. The main objective of this work was to evaluate the efficiency of the most used arc stability indexes reported in the literature in detect the arc instability effect of shallow water wet welding. Bead-on-plate welds had been made using a gravity feeding system device inside a hyperbaric chamber, applying straight polarity (DCEN) in ASTM A36 steel plates, using the same weld parameters in two different depths, 0.5 and 20.0 meters. Rutile, basic and oxidizing commercial electrodes types prepared for UWW with 3.25mm rod diameter were used. Visual analysis, bead morphology and arc stability were the criteria used to evaluate the weld quality. The voltage and current arc signals were acquired at 10 KHz rate. The arc stability indexes measured were average voltage and current and its standard deviation, S (Imax/Imin) parameter, voltage and current square mean, arc “re-ignition” voltage and current, metal transfer time and its deviation, metal transfer frequency and its deviation, short circuit time and its deviation and the voltage versus current graph area. The results shown that none of the stability indexes tested has been shown to indicate, alone, a good relationship to the surface appearance obtained for the three electrodes studied. The rutile type electrode was the only one that clearly produced better weld appearance at 20 meters than in shallow water depth. The rutile and oxidizing electrodes showed better surface appearance with the increased number of short circuits. For the rutile electrode, the globular transfer mode with high voltage were directly related with poor weld bead surface appearance.

Abstract:
The analysis of the content of rutine in buckwheat (Fagopyrum esculentum Moench) was performed under the influence of agroecological factors in the area of Nišićka Visoravna (Sarajevo) during 2019. A field experiment in which the content of rutines in different development phenophases of buckwheat (beginning of flowering, full flowering, maturation) was set up and analyzed. Fresh plant material was used for analysis, and the hydrolate production process was carried out by steam distillation. The distilled buckwheat solution was analyzed by HPLC method at the Institute of Agromediterranean Faculty in Mostar. The highest content of rutine in the research period was recorded in the developmental phase of full flowering 28 mg/100 g, in the phase of maturation it is 21 mg/100 g and the lowest content was found in the phase of the beginning of flowering 19 mg/100 g.

Abstract:
The econometric model can be a precise instrument for the analysis of the impact of the natural environmental degradation on the fishing economy. This paper aims at analysing the influence of the water quality changes in Charzykowskie Lake on the fishing economy. The economic-ecological models have been constructed, explaining the changes of economic effects of the lake fishery in the conditions of an increasing water pollution in the hypolimnion on the example of the catch of Rutilus rutilus, Blicca bjoerkna, Coregonus lavaretus, Anguilla anguilla and Esox lucius in Charzykowskie Lake. Performed empirical research focuses on the influence of the environmental factors on the size of fish catch. Calculations and analysis show clearly that even though the habitat factors have an influence on the catch size of each studied fish species, they do it with different intensity and in various combinations. Both, lake water quality and climate factors changes, cause measurable effects on fishing industry of Charzykowskie Lake. Among the examined Rutilus rutilus and Blicca bjoerkna, Blicca bjoerkna has the highest high environmental requirements regarding the water quality. Empirical calculations showed as well that Coregonus lavaretus has considerably higher water cleanness requirements than Rutilus rutilus and Blicca bjoerkna. While considering Rutilus rutilus and Blicca bjoerkna, most water characteristics still rather stimulate a development of these species, but when it comes to Coregonus lavaretus, in general they suppress its development. The model has also proved quite high habitat requirements for Anquilla anquilla and correctness of the thesis that Esox lucius avoids polluted water. Climatic factors influence is significant for the endogenous variables. The above prejudges the itineration of Rutilus rutilus, Blicca bjoerkna, Coregonus lavaretus, Anquilla anquilla and Esox lucius catch in Charzykowskie Lake. The results of the modelling can be used in managing the fishing economy of the lake.
