Abstract OBJECTIVES: To evaluate short- and long-term growth in fetuses with growth restriction (FGR) and elevated umbilical artery Doppler (UAD) systolic/diastolic (S/D) ratios. METHODS: In this prospective observational study, two UAD waveforms were obtained from each umbilical artery weekly and were classified as normal or abnormal. Fetal growth was assessed every 3 weeks. Short-term growth was calculated from the first visit with elevated ratios until next growth assessment. Results were grouped by number of initial elevated S/D ratios (maximum, 4). Abstract:
Despite the fact that a 2-degree spectral sensitivity curve (SSC) is extensively used in scientific research and relevant applications, the choice between the 10-degree or the 2-degree photopic SSCs in practical applications for the calculation of scotopic/photopic ratios (S/P ratios) depends on actual needs. We examined S/P ratios for more than 300 light sources for correlated colour temperatures (CCTs) from 2000 K to 8000 K and blackbody radiant spectra from 10000 K to 45000 K using 2- and 10-degree SSCs. Results showed that the ratio of the S/P values calculated using the 10-degree and 2-de

Abstract We have assessed how variation in the matrix of control materials would affect error detection and false-rejection characteristics of quality-control (QC) procedures used to monitor PO2 in blood gas measurements. To determine the expected QC performance, we generated power curves for S(mat)/S(meas) ratios of 0.0-4.0. These curves were used to estimate the probabilities of rejecting analytical runs having medically important errors, calculated from the quality required by the CLIA '88 proficiency testing criterion and the precision and accuracy expected for a typical analytical system.

Using 95% limits of agreement (LOA), this study examined the reproducibility of indices of isokinetic leg strength in pubertal soccer players. Following familiarization, 23 boys performed isokinetic assessments of the knee joint muscles at 1.08, 2.16, and 4.32 rad/s during concentric exercise and at 2.16 rad/s during eccentric actions on two separate occasions. Peak torque values were recorded and reciprocal and bilateral muscle group ratios were calculated. As random error was heteroscedastic, 95% ratio LOA were employed. Systematic bias for the various measurements ranged from 0.97 to 1.07 f

AbstractSource parameters calculated from displacement spectra of both P and S waves are used to discriminate between earthquakes and quarry blasts in three regions of Egypt during the 2009–2015 period. We use vertical component seismograms from 440 earthquakes and 450 quarry explosions with MD 1.5 to 3.3 to calculate source parameters, including scalar moments and corner frequencies. The Mo(P,S) vs. fc(P,S) and P- to S-wave corner frequency fc(P)/fc(S) ratios are used to distinguish quarry blasts from earthquakes. The development of kesterite (Cu2ZnSn(S,Se)4, CZTSSe) thin films for photovoltaic applications is highly necessary, given their composition of Earth-abundant, environmentally friendly elements and their compatibility with established photovoltaic technologies. This study presents a novel synthesis approach for CZTSSe films with varied S/(S+Se) ratios, ranging from 0.83 to 0.44, by a two-step magnetron sputtering deposition/annealing process. The first step consists in an initial deposition of stacked Mo/SnS2/Cu layers, which, upon thermal treatment in a sulfur atmosphere, were transformed into

Summary The in vitro activity of trimethoprim (tmp) and 9 sulfonamides and their combinations in 6 concentration ratios was tested against 62 Salmonella strains isolated from horses over a 3-year period in the Netherlands, using the agar-dilution method. Most of the isolates were S typhimurium strains (n = 52); the others were S heidelberg (n = 3), S hadar (n = 2), S thompson (n = 2), S enteritidis (n = 1), S infantis (n = 1), and S derby (n = 1). The minimal TMP concentration at which 50% of the Salmonella strains were inhibited (mic50) was 0.12 |ig/ml. Sulfachlorpyridazine (scp; mic50, 16 fi

Abstract We compare microtremor data to weak-motion S-wave and coda recordings at sites in San Francisco in order to clarify the range of applicability of microtremor data to ground-motion prediction. We also compare S-wave results to coda results. For each type of data, we compute spectral ratios of motions from two soil/rock station pairs and from an uphole/downhole pair in the Marina district. We compute horizontal/vertical ratios (Nakamura's method) at a soil site, a rock site, and the surface and borehole instruments.
