Abstract:
As virtualization platforms or cloud computing have become more of a commodity, many more organizations have been utilizing them. Many organizations and technologies have emerged to fulfill those cloud needs. Cloud vendors provide similar services, but the differences can have significant impact on specific applications. Selecting the right provider is difficult and confusing because of the number of options. It can be difficult to determine which application characteristics will impact the choice of implementation. There has not been a concise process to select which cloud vendor and characteristics are best suited for the application requirements and organization requirements. This thesis provides a model that identifies crucial application characteristics, organization requirements and also characteristics of a cloud. The model is used to analyze the interaction of the application with multiple cloud platforms and select the best option based on a suitability score. Case studies utilize this model to test three applications against three cloud implementations to identify the best fit cloud implementation. The model is further validated by a small group of peers through a survey. The studies show that the model is useful in identifying and comparing cloud implementations with regard to application requirements.

Abstract:
This master thesis deals with the analysis of the possibilities of Cloud Computing for information system solutions in small and medium businesses. The main objective is to analyze these options, identify key areas for the transition to the cloud and propose an approach to develop Information system in this direction. The main contribution of this work is the practical experience which is involved in a view of the problems being solved and an emphasis on aspects that have been verified in practices. The main text of the work is divided into five chapters. The first chapter defines the basic concepts and limitations on which further work is based. The second chapter deals with the current form of IS in SMEs, its description and identifying problems. The third chapter analyzes the Cloud Computing from the perspective of the suitability of various models for SMEs, identifies the major trends that affect the Cloud Computing and describes some basic elements on which Cloud Computing is based. It also analyzes the issue of security. The fourth chapter deals with the state of Cloud Computing market and identification of key problem areas which need to be solved in various stages of market development. The last chapter uses several case studies to show a meaningfulness and readiness of Cloud Computing for running information system. In the end the recommended approach to the adoption of cloud services is defined.

Cloud computing has been given a great deal of attention during recent years. Almost all the technology market leaders and leading hosting service providers (like IBM, Microsoft and Verizon) have entered into the Cloud market as Cloud Providers. Cloud computing promises to provide highly available, secure, low cost, agile and highly scalable solution to the consumers. Scania is a global company and one of the world’s leading heavy vehicle manufacturers with 35,000+ employees. All the large organizations such as Scania, aim to constantly update themselves with the latest technology in order to meet their business requirements but, these organizations must always be convinced that there is a strong reason(s) to implement new technology. This research provides the method and criteria in relation to initiating Cloud computing. A number of Scania’s specific business requirements that it is possible to map to the Cloud are addressed in this thesis. The methodology of research is split in two parts. Firstly, the identification of business cases at Scania and their requirements with the Cloud and Secondly, the evaluation and comparison of the functionalities and capabilities of different vendors. The accumulated data is then compared and suitable vendors, according to those business requirements are suggested. This thesis also shares the experience of moving on premise applications to the Cloud. These are Scania specific applications which are currently being hosted in-house. The research also addresses the possibilities of portability between the Cloud providers. Although there is no standardization in relation to Cloud computing, some initiatives such as OpenStack are available and its current position and some application and data migration tools are also discussed. The thesis concludes with a general discussion, recommendations in relation to adapting Cloud computing and selecting the Cloud provider. This recommendation applies to every organization including Scania.

The aim of our research paper is to depict and analyze the new trends and changes happening in the Information Technology industry during the recent years, that are most likely to have a long-lasting impact on how the usage of software technology is evolving. The overall trend that we are noticing in this market is about shifting more and more software applications from local computers to online networks generally known as The Cloud (the concept itself is named Cloud Computing). The reason for choosing this topic is that, overall, the Information Technology industry is deeply involved in our everyday lives. Therefore, it is important for us as individuals or businesses to be aware of the new trends happening in this field and learn how we can benefit from them. We will research these trends from the perspective of the providers of Cloud Computing services. We will analyze the challenges of establishing a new market for these services and debate the pros and cons of being the first mover or follower among big and small players. We will also investigate whether there is a dominant design under development. As means for our analysis, we will research the three main technologies used as a mean to implement the new concept of Cloud Computing, which are Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS), Platform as a Service (PaaS) and Software as a Service (SaaS). One result of our study is that the main players on the Cloud Computing market do not think in terms of national markets or geographical borders about their products. Since they are providing online services, we conclude that it is normal for all the players to see the market as one single entity rather than limiting themselves to geographical areas, which are obviously irrelevant for the Internet market. Another result is that there is confusion among the players when it comes to defining Cloud Computing, Software as a Service and Platform as a Service and the difference between these concepts. We consider as the main reasons for this confusion the fact that the Cloud Computing industry is not yet standardized, and every firm is having its own way of dealing with these new concepts. However, we believe that there is a complex market system under way. All the firms are apparently waiting for a technological standardization or a dominant design, before they will fully adopt and implement this technology. Moreover, most companies we analyzed believe that Cloud Computing will be, one way or another, the future in the Information Technology and Communication industry.

<p>Cloud computing is a new buzzword within the IT-industry, and introduces a whole new way of working with IT. The technique delivers web based services, which results in that the user no longer needs to install an application locally on a computer. Since the application no longer needs to run on a local entity, but in a datacenter located on a service provider, the users no longer need any specific hardware more than a computer with an internet connection. Cloud computing also offers IT-infrastructure and development environments as services, these three service types is better known as cloud services. Through the usage of different types of cloud services, the need for maintenance and hardware is significantly reduced. Therefore, the need for IT-competence in a company is reduced, which offers the company to focus on their core business strategy. A problem with cloud computing is that because it is such a new phenomenon, there is no established definition. This makes the subject hard to understand and easily misunderstood.</p><p>Cloud computing surely seems to solve many of the problems with reliability of systems and hardware that companies struggle with on a daily basis, but is it really that simple? The purpose of this thesis is to understand which types of company preconditions that affect the integration of cloud services in a company. We will also clarify the concept of Cloud computing by divide and describe its different components.</p><p>To investigate the different types of company preconditions and there approach to cloud services we have performed interviews at different companies in associations with our case study.</p><p>The result shows that a cloud service only can be integrated to an organization as long as the organization possesses the right preconditions. We think that cloud services can bring great advantages to organizations that meet these preconditions and that cloud services has the potential to ease the way of work for organizations in the future.</p><br><p>Cloud computing är ett nytt trendord inom IT-branschen och innebär ett nytt sätt att arbeta med IT. Tekniken bygger på att användare av en applikation inte behöver installera en applikation på sin lokala dator utan applikationen förmedlas som en tjänst genom Internet. Då applikationen inte körs på någon lokal enhet utan i en datorhall hos tjänsteleverantören behöver inte användaren ha någon mer specifik hårdvara utöver en dator och en Internetanslutning för att ta del av tjänsten. Även IT-infrastruktur och utvecklingsmiljö som tjänst erbjuds på samma sätt inom Cloud computing, dessa tre typer av tjänster kallas för molntjänster. Genom att använda olika typer av molntjänster minskar den interna driften av system, underhåll av hårdvara och således behövs minmal IT-kompetens inom företag, detta tillåter företag att fokusera på sin kärnverksamhet. Då Cloud computing är ett nytt fenomen finns det ingen erkänd definition av begreppet ännu, detta resulterar i att ämnet blir svårförstått och misstolkas lätt.</p><p>Cloud computing verkar onekligen lösa problematiken med driftsäkerhet som företag tvingas att handskas med dagligen, men är de verkligen så enkelt? Syftet med uppsatsen är att redogöra för vilka förutsättningar som företag besitter som påverkar hur bra olika typer av molntjänster kan integreras i företagets verksamhet. Uppsatsen ska även redogöra för begreppet Cloud computing genom att dela upp och beskriva de olika delar som begreppet består utav.</p><p>För att utreda detta har vi bedrivit en fallstudie genom intervjuer hos utvalda företag för att undersöka företagens förutsättningar och förhållningssätt gentemot olika typer av molntjänster.</p><p>Resultatet visar att de rätta förutsättningarna krävs för att ett företag ska kunna integrera molntjänster i sin verksamhet. Vi anser att molntjänster kan medföra stora fördelar för de företagen som besitter dessa förutsättningar, och att molntjänster har potential att underlätta verksamheten för många organisationer i framtiden.</p>

Sve češćom upotrebom cloud okruženja dolazi do potrebe da se postojeća softverska rešenja migriraju. Metodologija za migraciju na cloud postoji više, gde se u finalnim fazama planiraju modifikacije nad arhitekturom softvera tako da se iskoriste prednosti cloud sistema. Za ekonomsku efikasnost usled uštede resursa je neophodna višeorganizacijska osobina. Svrha ovog istraživanja je da pojasni višeorganizacijsko svojstvo i da predloži rešenje za migraciju postojećih softvera na višeorganizacijski SaaS ali sa što manje neophodnih modifikacija ciljnog softvera. S toga je predloženo rešenje platforma koja omogućuje lakšu migraciju. Nakon faze istraživanja i sagledavanja domena pametnih elektroenergetskih mreža, kreiran je prototip predloženog rešenja kao i niz eksperimenata u skladu sa definisanim naučnim pitanjima. Eksperimenti su izvršeni u privatnom cloud okruženju. Hipoteze su adresirane kroz viziju primene rešenja na NDMS (Napredni distributivni menadžment sistem) u slučaju šest organizacija, a doneti su sledeći zaključci: višeorganizacijskim modelom se ostvaruju uštede u resursima od 32%, za tri reda veličine veća visoka dostupnost, ali uz usporenja do 20 milisekundi po svakom servisnom zahtevu. Takođe, aplikativni model učesnika modernih PaaS usluga nije primeren gde je sinhronizam zahtevan, niti u slučajevima gde se očekuju odgovori nad skupom učesnika u realnom vremenu. Istraživanje ukazuje na mogućnost primene višeorganizacijskog modela čak i u slučaju kompleksnih rešenja kakva se sreću u domenu pametnih elektroenergetskih mreža, a akademskom validacijom potvrđuju način implementacije važnog finalnog koraka u procesu migracije softvera na cloud bazirani SaaS.<br>Progressive cloud adoption requires migration of existing software solutions. Today, many cloud adoption methodologies exist. Usually, the final phase in cloud adoption include software architecture modifications to make the most of the benefits of cloud computing, like multi-tenancy which enables economic efficiency. The aim of this research is to explain the multi-tenancy and to provide a solution for migration of existing software to multi-tenant SaaS while modifying the target software as little as possible. Therefore, the research proposes a platform that enables easier cloud adoption. After the research phase focused on a smart grid domain, the prototype was created with experiments targeting formulated research questions. The experiments were conducted in a private cloud environment. Research hypotheses were analyzed using hypothetical multi-tenant ADMS (Advanced Distribution Management System) in case of six tenants, with the following conclusions: multi-tenancy saves 32% of resources, it provides three orders of magnitude higher availability, but affects performances by introducing a delay of up to 20 milliseconds per service request. Also, reliable actors programing model used in modern PaaS services is not suitable in use cases with needs for synchronous behavior, nor in in use cases where querying a set of actors is needed in real time. The research demonstrates feasibility of applying multi-tenancy even in cases of complex software solutions like the ones in the smart grid domain. The proposed solution is academically validated and it can be used as a final important step in migration of existing software to cloud based multi-tenant SaaS.

This Thesis is focused on the ways of getting information from the World Wide Web source . The Introduction pays attention to the theoretical approach towards data collection options . The main part of the Introduction is engaged in the Web Crawler program as the possibility of data collection from internet and consequently they are followed by alternative methods of data collection. E.g. Google Search API. The next part of the Thesis is dedicated to SAS products and their meanings in the context of reporting and internet monitoring. SAS Intelligence platform is presented as the crucial Company platform In the framework of the platform there could be found concrete SAS solutions. SAS Web Crawler and Semantic Server are described in SAS Content Categorization solution. Whilst the first two parts of Thesis are focused on the theory , the third and closing part pays attention to practical examples. There are illustrated examples of Internet Data collection, which are mainly realized in SAS. The practical part of Thesis follows the theoretical one and it cannot be detached.

This diploma thesis' main subject is to design a service that automatically analyses (e-shop) data, interprets them and consequently provides users with results of this analysis via web service. Design of this service includes concept composition its technical solution and market verification. The main purpose of this thesis is to design an online service for small and medium sized e-shops, that will (based on provided data) deliver information for e-shop performance optimization. Aspects taken into account are service functionality, its technical solution and business plan destined for its market launch. Theoretical part focuses on analysis of online analytical tools that are available for users on market. It looks at internet e-shops market and analyses users' requirements for analytical tool/service either. This part delivers a list of currently available analytical platforms and services that are convenient for e-shops to be used. Then these tools are compared amongst each other. Criteria for comparison are the usability of service, its user experience, positive and negative aspects related to these predefined criteria. Practical part of this thesis specifies functional and non-functional requirements on service, its user interface. The whole concept is verified on market by interview. Discovered requirements are consequently applied in technical solution design and business plan composition. Overall view of functionality and feasibility of the newly designed service and its verification in real environment is the preoccupation of this part as well.

Cloud Computing (CC) is one of the fast growing computer network technologies and many companies offer their services through cloud network. Cloud Computing has many properties with respect to the existing traditional service provisions like scalability, availability, fault tolerance, capability and so on which are supported by many IT companies like Google, Amazon, Salesforce.com. These IT companies have more chances to adapt their services into a new environment, known as Cloud computing systems. There are many cloud computing services which are being provided by many IT companies.The purpose of this thesis is to investigate which cloud environment (public, private and hybrid) and services (Infrastructure as a Service, Software as a Service, and Platform as a Service) are suitable for Swedish Armed Forces (SWAF) with respect to performance, security, cost, flexibility and functionality. SWAF is using private (internal) cloud for communications where both sensitive and non-sensitive information are located in the internal cloud. There are problems like maintenance of hardware, cost issues and secure communication while maintaining the private cloud. In order to overcome those problems we have suggested a hybrid and community cloud environment and SaaS, IaaS, PaaS services for SWAF.For suggesting these cloud environments and cloud services we have performed a literature study and two empirical studies (survey and interviews) with different organizations.A new cloud model is designed based on the suggested cloud environment, separate storage spaces for sensitive and non-sensitive information, suitable services and an effective infrastructure for sharing the internal information for SWAF.

Diplomová práce se zabývá modelem distribuce aplikační funkcionality formou služeb (SaaS ? Software as a Service), transformací trhu s IT dle tohoto modelu a dopadem těchto změn do sféry řízení podnikové informatiky. Cílem práce je co nejlépe anticipovat dopad transformace IT průmyslu právě do oblasti služeb a na základě výsledků této prognózy odvodit nejvýznamnější změny, kterými projde jak samotná podniková informatika, tak způsob jejího řízení. Popis transformace IT průmyslu je možný na základě identifikace nejzávažnějších současných problémů tohoto průmyslu a popisu těch současných trendů, které k této transformaci směřují. Změny podnikové informatiky a jejího řízení jsou popisovány na základě vývoje od doby vzniku moderních podnikových informačních systémů (tj. počátek 90. let 20. století), s tím, že je kladen důraz na ty nejzávažnější problémy integrace IT do struktury podniku a nejvýznamnější metody, které se na řešení těchto problémů uplatňovaly či uplatňují. Velký důraz je v práci kladen na korporátní důsledky těchto změn, takže každý významný diskutovaný aspekt je zkoumán mimo jiné z pohledu jeho vstřebávání trhem či samotnou organizací, a to především z hlediska porovnávání nákladů a přínosů. Přínos práce spočívá především v analýze dopadů změn trhu s IT na subjekty na trhu působící, tedy jak na nabízející tak na poptávající. Z hlediska strany nabídky jde především o sekce věnující se vzájemným vztahům mezi poskytovateli aplikačních služeb (sdružování do tzv. SaaS platforem) a také nástupu celého modelu (viz např. tabulka 4.2 na str. 41). Z hlediska poptávajících na IT trhu, tedy z hlediska řízení podnikové informatiky, je přidaná hodnota práce především v těch částech, které se věnují možnému navázání SaaS aplikací na model řízení IT služeb, a dále např. integraci SaaS aplikací z hlediska uživatele (část 6.4.6). První tři kapitoly práce se zabývají úvodem do celého konceptu poskytování aplikační funkcionality formou služeb, současnému IT průmyslu a jeho problémům a také pravděpodobnému vývoji celého tohoto nového segmentu. Další kapitoly obsahují nejprve charakteristiku současného řízení podnikové informatiky a také aplikaci výše zjištěných poznatků o SaaS modelu na podnikovou informatiku. Poslední kapitola je orientována praktičtěji a obsahuje zjednodušený popis metody definice IT služeb v podniku a tvorby katalogu služeb.

Les travaux de cette thèse portent sur le développement de système microfluidiques génériques pour la mesure de propriétés thermodynamiques de solutions de proteines. Un procédé simple de fabrication de puces microfluidiques résistantes à la pression ainsi qu'à la majorité des solvants organiques a été développé. En outre, les propriétés de surface des microcanaux peuvent être ajustées afin de générer des émulsions eau dans huile ou huile dans l'eau. L'étude des interactions proteines-proteines en solution a été réalisée en couplant ces dispositifs expérimentaux à la diffusion de rayonnement X aux petits angles. Avec seulement quelque milligramme de produit, les données expérimentales obtenues ont permis de calculer le second coefficient du Viriel, grandeur thermodynamique permettant de quantifier les interactions entre protéines. Une nouvelle approche expérimentale a également été développée afin de déterminer l'équation d'état du lysozyme, équation reliant la pression osmotique à la fraction volumique. Ce système microfluidique est basé sur le transfert de matière entre d'une phase dispersée vers une phase continue. Dans une certaine gamme d'activité de l'eau, l'équation d'état obtenu est en bon accord avec les données de la littérature. Afin de relier la dynamique du transfert aux propriétés thermodynamique du système une première approche de modélisation est proposée. Cette approche a pour but de déterminer l'équation d'état de la protéine avec une seule goutte<br>This thesis is focused on the development of more efficient protocols and systems, by means of generic microfluidic platforms for measuring thermodynamic properties of protein solutions. A simple method for manufacturing pressure-resistant microfluidic structures with high chemical resistance has been developed. In addition, the surface properties of the fabrication materials can be adjusted to generate hydrophilic and hydrophobic surfaces allowing to generate aqueous and non-aqueous emulsions. On a first approach, the study of protein-protein interactions in solution was successfully performed using just a few milligrams of product by coupling a microfluidic platform, developed ad-hoc for this application, to small angle X-ray scattering. The obtained experimental data were used to calculate the second virial coefficient, thermodynamic parameter which quantifies protein interactions. A second and new experimental approach has also been developed to determine protein equations of state (EOS), which relate protein osmotic pressure to its volume fraction in solution. This novel methodology is based on the study of the mass transfer between a dispersed and a continuous phase, which are generated and controlled by means of a microfluidic setup. For a given range of water activity, the resulting EOS was found to be in good agreement with data reported in the literature. To link the mass transfer dynamics to the thermodynamic properties of the system a first modeling approach was proposed. This approach aims to determine the EOS of the protein using a single droplet

Oxford Nanopore sequencing technology is slowly revolutionising the entire microbiology field. Its ease of use and cost effective approaches coupled with long reads sequencing represent an essential and powerful tool. In the present thesis I have implemented a sequencing platform based on the Oxford Nanopore technology, a flexible system suitable for both research and diagnostic fields. The first part of my work was dedicated to the optimization of a DNA extraction protocol capable of isolating high molecular weight (HMW) genomic DNA. In fact, Nanopore sequencing readouts are highly influenced by both the quality and the integrity of the genomic DNA. An enzymatic lysis based extraction protocol was optimized, recovering HMW DNA from two strains of Streptococcus mitis and generating multiple ultra long reads (i.e. &gt;100 Kb in length), making it possible to achieve complete genome assemblies. As the extraction protocol was mainly optimized for Gram-positive bacteria, it is also suitable to lyse the thinner cell wall of Gram-negatives. Oxford Nanopore Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS) approaches have enabled the complete genome sequencing and assembly of 16 Enterococcus faecalis isolates from clinical dental samples. Sequencing data provided enough information enabling i) population studies, defining genomic clusters based on isolates homologies; ii) bacterial profiling, assessing antimicrobial resistance genes and virulence traits; iii) comparative analysis, identifying genomic rearrangements and homologies based on synteny blocks. Finally, the platform was used for the monitoring of the ongoing SARS-CoV-2 pandemic. We have proposed a 900 bp amplicon sequencing protocol, adapted from the ARTIC sequencing protocol (https://artic.network/), enabling a near-complete genome assembly of SARS-CoV-2 strains, helping in the detection of nucleotide changes and monitoring the circulating viral lineages. In conclusion, the Oxford Nanopore sequencing platform can bring several improvements in the microbiology field, allowing i) complete genome assembly, ii) rapid microbial profiling, and iii) helping in the monitoring of local or global outbreaks.

Gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) have garnered considerable attention for their interesting size-dependent properties. These properties have fueled applications that span a continuum ranging from simple to sophisticated. Applications for these materials have grown more complex as syntheses for these materials have improved. For simple applications, current synthetic processes are sufficient. However, development of syntheses that generate well-defined particle sizes with specifically tailored surface functionalities is an on-going challenge for chemists. The aim of this dissertation is to improve upon current AuNP syntheses to produce sophisticated materials needed to discover new material properties, and provide efficient access to materials to develop new advanced applications. The research described in this dissertation improves upon current methods for AuNP production by using a microreactor to provide enhanced mixing and synthetic control, and small angle X-ray scattering (SAXS) as a precise, rapid, solution-based method for size distribution determination. Using four ligand-stabilized AuNP samples as reference materials, SAXS analysis was compared to traditional microscopic size determination. SAXS analysis provided similar average diameters while avoiding deposition artifacts, probing a larger number of particles, and reducing analysis time. Next, the limits of SAXS size analysis was evaluated, focusing on identifying multiple distributions in solution. Utilizing binary and ternary mixtures of well-defined AuNP reference samples, SAXS analysis was shown to be effective at identifying multiple distributions. While microscopy has limited ability to differentiate these modes, SAXS analysis is more rapid and introduces less researcher bias. Because AuNP size and ligand functionality are interdependent, accessing desired core sizes with varied functionality is challenging. To address this, a new microfluidic synthetic method was developed to produce thiolate-passivated AuNPs with targeted core sizes from 1.5 - 12 nm with tailored functionality. This ability to control size while independently varying surface functionality is unprecedented. Lastly, AuNP core formation was probed by simultaneous in situ SAXS and UV/visible spectroscopy. A coalescence mechanism for AuNP growth was observed when using Bunte salt ligands. This finding compares well to observed coalescence in other systems using weakly-passivating ligands, and supports the hypothesis that Bunte salts passivate ionically during particle growth while resulting in covalent linkages.<br>2015-10-10

L'agriculture moderne nécessite une profonde transformation pour répondre aux défis du développement durable tout en nourrissant qualitativement et quantitativement la population mondiale croissante. Dans cette optique, les agriculteurs adoptent le "Smart Farming" ou agriculture intelligente. C'est une méthode agricole qui utilise la technologie pour améliorer l'efficacité, la productivité et la durabilité de la production agricole. Elle englobe l'usage de capteurs, l'internet des objets (IoT), l'Intelligence Artificielle (IA), l'analyse de données, la robotique et divers autres outils numériques optimisant des aspects tels que la gestion des sols, l'irrigation, la lutte antiparasitaire ou encore la gestion de l'élevage. L'objectif est d'augmenter la production tout en réduisant la consommation de ressources, minimisant les déchets et améliorant la qualité des produits. Toutefois, malgré ses avantages et son déploiement réussi dans divers projets, l'agriculture intelligente rencontre des limites notamment dans le cadre de l'IoT. Premièrement, les plateformes doivent être capables de percevoir des données dans l'environnement, de les interpréter et de prendre des décisions pour aider à la gestion des fermes. Le volume, la variété et la vélocité de ces données, conjuguées à la grande diversité d'objets ainsi qu'à l'avènement de l'IA embarquée dans les capteurs, rendent difficile les communications sur les réseaux agricoles sans fils. Deuxièmement, les recherches tendent à se focaliser sur des projets répondant aux problématiques de l'agriculture conventionnelle non durable et les projets concernant les petites exploitations axées sur l'agroécologie sont rares. Bacterial adhesion is the first step of biofilm formation and in the focus of research interest since several decades. Biofilms cause many problems, sometimes dramatic, for example in health, food packing or waste water purification. Despite of high interest, bacterial adhesion process is only poorly understood yet. In this work, bacterial adhesion was investigated on well-organized and structured model surfaces with various chemistries at molecular scale. For that purpose a characterization methodology was developed to sufficiently analyze monolayers on silicon wafers, and controlled mixed monolayers surfaces with different densities of NH 2 backfilled with CH3 were developed and optimized. These controlled surfaces with different densities of 0 % NH2 up to 100% NH2 were eventually used as tool to study bacterial adhesion in batch and real time conditions. The results demonstrate a significant impact on bacterial adhesion of weak difference in the surface chemistry at molecular scale. In the batch experiments, two so-called "plateaus" zones were determined, in which bacterial adhesion is not significantly different despite the change of the amine concentration on the surface. On the contrary, one transition zone exists between the "plateaus" in which a slight chunge.in the amine concentration leads to a significant increase / decrease of the bacterial adhesion. The same trend of bacteria behavior was observed for different bacterial strains.

The next stage is provided with an overview of adoption of cloud computing services in the Czech Republic and current trends. The practical part is focused on the research of motivation aspects and barriers resulting from adoption services built on the cloud computing concept. The main contribution of this thesis is primarily in providing an overview of motivational aspects and research-based barriers in the environment of Czech companies. This overview could help to these company representatives, who are considering deployment of cloud based services, but are struggling with the barriers that this model brings.

This thesis focuses on the development of tools and methods dedicated for ultra wide band (UWB) localization systems in indoor environment. The thesis work was conducted within the European FP7 project Where2, about the cooperative localization in cellular networks. Data from a measurement campaign conduct during the project are used to validate the proposed algorithms. This thesis is divided in four parts : The first part is focused on the description of an original raytraing tool based on a graph description. In order to be compliant with the requirement of a mobile simulation, a new concept of rays signature enabling incremental computation, and a vectorized formalism for processing rays are described and implemented. The second part is focused on the indoor localization techniques, where a novel technique based on interval analysis approaches is presented and compared to alternative techniques. Advantageously using this approach, a specific processing based on an hypothesis testing method using received power observations to resolve ambiguities appearing in under determined localization problems is described. A third part describes different aspects of the dynamic platform. In particular a realistic mobility model based on ''steering behaviors'', a graph description of the network scene and an inter agents communication protocol are detailed. The fourth section uses measured data obtained from an heterogeneous measurement campaign to validate both the developed software platform and the proposed localization algorithms.

Cette thèse porte sur la synthèse de polyuréthanes thermoplastiques plus durables à partir de dérivés des huiles végétales. La première voie étudiée est basée sur la réaction, largement utilisée, entre un diol et un diisocyanate. Aussi, pour s’affranchir de l’utilisation des diisocyanates toxiques, une approche via la polyaddition entre un bis carbonate cyclique et une diamine a également été étudiée. Pour ce faire des précurseurs bi-fonctionnels : diols, bis carbonates cycliques à 5 et 6 chainons et diamines ont été préparés à partir de dérivés de l’huile de tournesol (oléate de méthyle) et de l’huile de ricin (undécénoate de méthyle et acide sébacique). Les propriétés thermo-mécaniques des polyuréthanes et poly(hydroxyuréthane)s thermoplastiques obtenus ont pu être ajustées par le choix adapté de la structure chimique des précurseurs (gras) utilisés. Les travaux réalisés démontrent un effet de la taille du cycle du carbonate sur la réactivité. En effet, les (bis) carbonates cycliques à 6 chainons se sont avérés plus réactifs que leurs homologues à 5 chainons. De plus, la synthèse de diamines via un intermédiaire dinitrile semble très prometteuse pour le « design » d’une plateforme de diamines issues d’acides gras et de poly(hydroxyuréthane)s entièrement bio-sourcés<br>This thesis aims to synthesize more sustainable thermoplastic polyurethanes from vegetable oil derivatives. The first route that has been investigated is based on the well-known reaction between a diol and a diisocyanate. Then to avoid the use of diisocyanates, the route via the polyaddition of a bis cyclic carbonate and a diamine have been studied as well. For this purpose, bifunctional precursors such as diols, bis 5- and 6-membered cyclic carbonates and diamines have been prepared from sunflower oil derivative (methyl oleate) and castor oil derivatives (methyl undecenoate and sebacic acid) The thermo-mechanical properties of the PUs have been modulated by designing and selecting the chemical structure of the (fatty acid-based) monomers. The performed model reaction kinetics revealed the higher reactivity of the 6-membered cyclic carbonates compare to the 5-membered ones. Finally, the developed route to fatty acid-based diamines via dinitriles synthesis in mild conditions was really efficient and this route is really promising to develop a fatty acid based-diamines platform and fully bio-based poly(hydroxyurethane)s

Molecular dynamics (MD) simulations are a well-established technique to characterize the structural motions of biological systems at atomic resolution. However, accessing, viewing, and sharing MD trajectories is typically restricted by large file sizes and the need for specialized software, which limits the audience to which this data is available. The aim of this thesis is to extend the outreach of MD simulations by providing online resources that facilitate the dissemination, visual inspection, and analysis of this data. For that, we present GPCRmd and SCoV2-MD, two online resources focused on proteins with high biomedical interest: G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) and the proteome of the Severe Acute Respiratory Syndrome Coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2), respectively. We also showcase the capabilities of GPCRmd and SCoV2-MD for exploring key aspects of protein dynamics. Overall, these platforms have the potential to promote data “Findability, Accessibility, Interoperability, and Reusability” in the MD field, supporting the FAIR principles for scientific data management.<br>Les simulacions de dinàmica molecular (MD, per les seves sigles en anglès) són una tècnica ben establerta per caracteritzar els moviments estructurals de sistemes biològics amb una resolució atòmica. No obstant això, l'accés, la visualització i la compartició de trajectòries de MD solen estar restringits per la gran mida dels seus fitxers i la necessitat de programari especialitzat, que limita el públic al qual estan disponibles aquestes dades. L'objectiu d'aquesta tesi és ampliar la difusió de les simulacions de MD proporcionant recursos en línia que facilitin la compartició, inspecció visual i anàlisi d'aquestes dades. Per això, presentem GPCRmd i SCoV2-MD, dos recursos en línia centrats en proteïnes d'alt interès biomèdic: els receptors acoblats a proteïnes G (coneguts com a GPCRs, per les seves sigles en anglès) i el proteoma del coronavirus 2 de la síndrome respiratòria aguda greu (SARS-CoV-2), respectivament. També mostrem les capacitats de GPCRmd i SCoV2-MD per explorar aspectes clau de la dinàmica de proteïnes. Ele, tem por base uma plataforma de força, desenvolvida em 2016 por pesquisadores da UNESP e do Laboratório G-SCOP, da instituição Grenoble INP da França. A esta solução foram adicionadas duas interfaces eletrônicas. A primeira, com objetivo de fornecer informações sobre as forças de reação do solo, de um paciente que está sobre a plataforma e a segunda para controlar a estabilidade da plataforma, simulando dois níveis de dificuldades para o paciente se manter em equilíbrio. Aplicativos foram desenvolvidos para fazer a captura de dados e a análise gráfica dos resultados. Além de calcular informações sobre o deslocamento dos centros de pressão e de massa do paciente, eles asseguram o sincronismo entre os dados capturados por sensores de força, instalados na plataforma e um sensor de movimento Kinect. O tratamento dos dados do sensor de movimento possibilita a criação de um modelo tridimensional detalhado, na forma de um esqueleto digital, que apresenta a cinemática de várias articulações do corpo humano e o seu respectivo comportamento posicional, em função do tempo. It is based on a force platform, developed in 2016 by researchers from UNESP and the G-SCOP Laboratory of the Grenoble INP institution in France. Two electronic interfaces were added to this solution. The first one, to provide information about the ground reaction forces, from one patient on the platform and the second to control the stability of the platform, simulating two levels of difficulty for the patient to keep in balance. Applications were developed to capture data and graphically analyze the results. In addition to calculating information about the displacement of the patient's pressure and mass centers, they ensure synchronization between the data captured by force sensors installed on the platform and a Kinect motion sensor. Le méthane et le dioxyde de carbone sont les gaz à effet de serre (GES) d'origine humaine les plus abondants dans l'atmosphère. Leur concentration croissante dans l'atmosphère est la principal cause du changement climatique. Il est donc essentiel de surveiller l'évolution de leurs sources et de leurs puits. Une caractérisation et une quantification précises de leurs émissions territoriales provenant de différents secteurs sont nécessaires pour déterminer et gérer des actions et des politiques d'atténuation efficaces. L'objectif principal de cette thèse est d'améliorer la caractérisation des émissions de CH4 et de CO2 secteur par secteur, de l'échelle locale à l'échelle nationale, via le développement de stratégies d'observation mobiles exploitant des plateformes telles que la voiture, le drone et l'avion.Cette étude comporte trois parties. La première partie vise à vérifier un inventaire national de CH4 avec une méthode reproductible, en prenant pour base Chypre. Je me concentre sur la quantification des émetteurs de méthane significatifs (décharges et zones d'élevage) qui représentent cumulativement 28% des émissions nationales de méthane. L'approche se base sur des mesures mobiles en voiture et une modélisation par dispersion gaussienne. Les émissions de méthane calculées provenant des décharges et de la fermentation entérique du bétail étaient environ 160% et 40% plus importantes, respectivement, que les estimations sectorielles ascendantes utilisées dans l'inventaire national. Ces enquêtes mobiles montrent qu'un ensemble de mesures in situ ciblant des points chauds représentatifs des émissions de méthane avec une couverture temporelle et spatiale cohérente peut largement améliorer les inventaires nationaux ascendants des émissions.La deuxième partie se concentre sur les méthodes de quantification des émissions de CH4 pour l'industrie pétrolière et gazière. Elle compare dix systèmes commerciaux de pointe de quantification du méthane par le biais d'une série d'expériences de rejet contrôlé dans une station de compression inerte. Les rejets contrôlés couvraient une série de situations, y compris différents taux de fuite et conditions de vent. Les résultats indiquent que les systèmes "source-level" (proches d'une fuite unique) sous-estiment généralement les émissions, tandis que les systèmes "site-level" (intégrant les émissions pour le site) reposant sur la dispersion atmosphérique surestiment légèrement les taux d'émission. L'analyse de cette partie souligne que les drones (UAV) ont le potentiel de combler le fossé entre les observations au sol et les observations aériennes, mais sont fortement sensibles au vent.La dernière partie était consacrée au développement des mesures de GES par drone. J'ai développé et validé un nouveau système de capteur portable UAV-CO2 qui est léger mais reste suffisamment précis. Grâce à une procédure minutieuse de caractérisation, de correction et de calibration du capteur, nous atteignons une précision en vol de ± 2 ppm (1σ) à 1 Hz et de ± 1 ppm (1σ) à 1 min. Ce système est relativement peu coûteux et facile à reproduire, et a le potentiel pour réaliser une large gamme d'applications sur le terrain, telles que la surveillance des émissions urbaines et des sources ponctuelles.En bref, ce doctorat fait un pas en avant pour la réconciliation future des estimations d'émissions de GES basées sur divers systèmes d'observation et différentes approches, et recherche des méthodes facilement duplicables et applicables à d'autres régions et secteurs d'émission. Alors que les approches mobiles présentées ici représentent clairement des options importantes pour le suivi des émissions, des défis significatifs demeurent dans la capacité actuelle d'estimer régulièrement les trajectoires d'émissions de GES anthropiques avec une précision suffisante et à grande échelle<br>Methane and carbon dioxide are the most abundant human-induced greenhouse gases (GHG) in the atmosphere. Their increasing atmospheric concentration is the main driver of climate change. Therefore, it is critical to monitor the evolution of their sources and sinks. Accurate characterization and quantification of their territorial emissions from different sectors are required in order to determine and manage efficient mitigation actions and policies. The main goal of this Ph.D. is to improve the characterization of CH4 and CO2 sectoral emissions from local to national scale through the development of mobile observation strategies including platforms such as car, drone and aircraft.This study consists of three parts. The first part aims at verifying a national CH4 inventory with a replicable method. I focus on surveying and quantifying significant methane emitters that represent 28% of national (Cyprus) methane emissions. These are essentially landfills and cattle farm areas. The approach is based on car-based mobile measurements and Gaussian plume dispersion modelling. The calculated methane emissions from landfills and enteric fermentation of cattle were about 160% and 40% larger, respectively, than the bottom-up sectoral estimates used in the national inventory. These mobile surveys show that an ensemble of in situ measurements targeting representative methane emission hotspots with consistent temporal and spatial coverage can largely improve national bottom-up emission inventories.The second part focuses on methods to quantify CH4 emissions for the oil and gas industry. It compares ten state-of-the-art commercial methane quantification systems through a series of controlled release experiments at an inert compressor station. The controlled releases covered a range of situations including various leak rates and wind conditions. The results indicated that ‘source-level' systems (close to single leak) generally underestimate emissions, while ‘site-level' systems (integrating emissions for the site) relying on atmospheric dispersion slightly overestimate emission rates. The analysis of this part highlights that unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) have the potential to bridge the gap between ground-based and airborne observations but are strongly wind sensitive.The last part focused on the development of UAV GHG measurements. I have developed and validated a novel portable UAV-CO2 sensor system that is lightweight but remains sufficiently precise. Through a careful sensor characterization, correction and calibration procedure, we reach an in-flight precision of ± 2 ppm (1σ) at 1 Hz and ± 1 ppm (1σ) at 1 min. This system is relatively inexpensive and easy to reproduce, and has the potential to perform a wide range of field applications, such as urban and point source emissions monitoring.In short, this Ph.D. makes a step forward for future reconciliation of GHG emission estimates based on various observation systems and different approaches, and seeks methods that are easily duplicated and applicable to other regions and emission sectors. While mobile approaches presented here clearly represent important monitoring options, significant challenges remain in current capacity to estimate routinely anthropogenic GHG emission trajectories with sufficient precision and at large scale

Para suportar o desenvolvimento do sistema, foram referidos neste trabalho temas como a Gestão de Conhecimento, Sistemas de Suporte à Decisão, Cloud Computing, Aplicações Cross-Platform e Engenharia Web. Com base na revisão da literatura, apresenta-se a arquitetura da plataforma SaaS - SCP, respetivos diagramas de classes, casos de uso, diagrama de componentes em UML, requisitos funcionais e não funcionais, bem como tecnologias de desenvolvimento adotadas. O trabalho tem como objetivo principal definir uma framework SaaS multifuncional para auxiliar a tomada de decisão de um apostador desportivo com base em dados estatísticos, tendo uma aplicação (“Pré Live”) especifica para a obtenção de probabilidades antes de começar o jogo e, outra Aplicação (“Live”) para determinar probabilidades com base na estatística do próprio jogo. On the SaaS model, resources for the multi-tenancy can be shared and the maintenance complexity can be reduced. To achieve the system requirements of a multi-tenancy SaaS, schema redesign of database is a must. While considering the sharing characteristics of tenants, the design should also consider the differences of those tenants. This paper proposed a redesign schema of database and related access algorithm to move an IPTV service platform from its ASP model to the SaaS model. The system practice showed that the proposed architecture makes the cloud-based IPTV service more flexible and scalable.

What’s more, we verify the model by AHP questionnaire and interview with industrial experts. It not only reduces the cost of individual development but also provides a flexible environment for modem enterprise composite application development. However a user has to designate a particular provider for each service when deploying an application. As long as the provider fails to deliver the service, all application processes which include the service will discontinue their execution even though some other service providers may offer the same service.   In this study, a dynamical SaaS platform based on quality of service will be proposed and implemented. The system will provide four major services, named user registration service, web service publication service, application publication service, and application routing service. The user registration service is used to verify user authorization, a web service designer uses the web service publication service to publish their services and registers it to a service registry, the application publication service is used to publish abstract business process for enterprise applications and design a XSLT file of each service in this abstract business process, and finally, the application routing service evaluates some candidate services dynamically based on QoS criteria of SLA during run-time and then chooses an appropriate service for execution.   The QoS-based dynamical SaaS platform uses QoS criteria of SLA to select dynamically appropriate services during run-time. Even though some service providers fail to deliver their services, it will choose other appropriate services from some candidate service providers according to the QoS criteria pre-set in the SLA. It can reduce software develop cost and ensure that applications running on this platform will therefore obtain optimal performance.

SaaS (Software as a Service) is an emerging model of cloud computing which can provide business software applications through the network by shared resources with each tenants. In the traditional enterprise applications, each user has a separate enterprise application , it can be very easy to save and load any custom configuration. However in a multi-tenant how to support different tenants independent custom configurations for the same application instance is the fundamental challenge facing in multi-tenant technology. This thesis focuses on the databases level and aims to provide a multi-tenant data schema as well as schema customization. The proposed approach facilitates developers to convert private table SQL statements to fulfill statement of multi-tenant schema efficiently. The main contribution of this work is twofold: 1) First part is to develop a multi-tenant platform and multi-tenant database schema will implement by Universal Table Layout. Allows developers to manage or customize database for each tenants effectively through the platform. 2) To develop an adapter that enables existing web site transfers the storing method of multi-tenant database without modifying a lot of code and to enhance the speed of multi-tenant systems development and resource utilization.

However, software developers and service providers will have to address new challenging issues before such benefits can be realized. This thesis explores one of the critical issues, service deployment for composite SaaS applications, and proposes an integrated approach to the service deployment problem which takes not only communication costs but also the potential parallelism among services into consideration. In the approach, two types of graphs are developed to model the communication costs between services, Service Dependency Graph (SDG), and potential parallelism among services, Service Concurrence Graph (SCG), respectively. Then, these two graphs are integrated into a single Service Relationship Graph (SRG) and the service deployment problem is transformed into a minimum k-cut problem for solution. A series of experiments were conducted on the CloudSim platform to evaluate the proposed approach. The experimental results indicate that the proposed approach outperforms previous deployment methods significantly in terms of service response time.

Dissertação de Mestrado em Engenharia Informática apresentada à Faculdade de Ciências e Tecnologia<br>Este estágio enquadra-se num projecto Portugal 2020, de investigação e desenvolvimento, designado Hotelcracy Apps, cujo objectivo é desenvolver uma plataforma de integração cloud de serviços Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) utilizados no sector do alojamento, disponibilizando o acesso às suas funcionalidades através de uma interface centralizada e homogénea. O objectivo deste trabalho em particular é a concepção e desenvolvimento de uma prova de conceito dos mecanismos de migração entre serviços SaaS, sempre que o utilizador os decida substituir.Para a concepção da prova de conceito foi realizada uma análise do estado da arte da integração de serviços cloud, onde se analisaram abordagens tradicionais e se estudaram plataformas de integração actualmente disponíveis no mercado. Foi ainda realizado um estudo dos desafios da migração de serviços SaaS, onde se identificaram dificuldades e problemas a esta associados, e para os quais se propuseram soluções.Dos estudos realizados teceram-se considerações com impacto significativo no desenho da prova de conceito e da própria plataforma como um todo. Estas considerações traduziram-se em decisões que influenciaram a arquitectura da plataforma, levando à identificação e especificação de componentes que não tinham sido considerados em fase de candidatura do projecto. Foi definido um protocolo interno para estruturação dos dados a comunicar entre os componentes da plataforma, e um processo estruturado para a execução da migração de serviços. Este protocolo e este processo foram implementados na prova de conceito, tendo sido desenvolvidos componentes específicos na plataforma, respeitando a arquitectura definida.Os contributos ao nível da arquitectura, do protocolo interno e do processo de migração são de grande valor para o projecto Hotelcracy Apps. Estes ajudaram a estabelecer uma base sólida para a construção da plataforma, de modo a que esta possa dar resposta a diferentes desafios no futuro, principalmente em relação à integração de novos serviços SaaS e ao aumento da quantidade de utilizadores.<br>This internship is part of a Portugal 2020 project, of research and development, called Hotelcracy Apps. Its purpose is the development of a cloud integration platform of Software-as-a-Service services used in the accommodation sector, allowing the access to its functionalities through a centralized and homogeneous interface. The purpose of this work is the design and development of a proof of concept of the mechanism to migrate between SaaS services, whenever the user decides to substitute them.To the design of the proof of concept, an analysis of the state of the art of the integration of cloud services was carried out, where traditional approaches were analyzed and integration platforms currently available in the market were studied. A study of the challenges related with the migration of SaaS services was also carried out, with the identification of difficulties and problems imposed by it, and to which some solutions were proposed.From the conducted studies, some considerations were formulated, which had a significant impact in the design of the proof of concept and in the platform itself as a whole. These considerations resulted in decisions that influenced the architecture of the platform, leading to the identification and specification of components that had not been considered in the proposal phase of the project. An internal protocol was defined for structuring the data to be communicated between the platform components, as well as a structured process for the execution of service migration. This protocol and this process were implemented in the proof of concept, with the development of specific components of the platform, according to the defined architecture.The contributions to the architecture, internal protocol and migration process are of great value to the Hotelcracy Apps project.
