Abstract:
The concept of Sadhus is an old Hindu tradition started long ago from the system of Ashram in Indian Sub-continent. In general, human life is divided into four stages and the last stage is known as Sanyasa. When an old person becomes free from his family responsibilities then he practices peaceful activities. This stage of life is called Sanyasa and it is a form of Sadhu. Sadhus generally live in Asharams or temples in the group. In the past, they were forced to take weapons in their hands for the protection of their life and religion. Therefore, Akhadas were established in the place of ashramas to keep militant Sadhus. They do not have to keep greed, love, exceptions and trishna and their Yajnas should relate on the well-being of the universe. They are the means of study and they should be utilized to attract tourists in modern economic world. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3126/researcher.v1i2.9888 Researcher 1(2) 2013: 81-103

Abstract:
How should we read claims about health and well-being which defy common sense? Are claims of extreme longevity to be viewed as fraudulent, or as pushing the boundaries of possibility for the human body? This article will consider the narrative and context around a particularly well-publicized incident of rejuvenation therapy, advertised as kāyakalpa (body transformation or rejuvenation), from 1938. In this year, the prominent Congress Activist and co-founder of Banaras Hindu University, Madan Mohan Malaviya (1861–1946), underwent an extreme – and very public – rejuvenation treatment under the care of a sadhu using the name of Shriman Tapasviji (c.1770?-1955). The first half of the article will explore the presentation of Malaviya’s treatment and how it inspired a focus on rejuvenation therapy within Indian medicine in the years immediately following. Exploring this mid-twentieth century incident highlight some of the themes and concerns of the historical period, just out of living memory, but in many ways similar to our own.

Abstract:
The current paper discussed two points of view, namely; first, analyze critically the methods used to internalize bhakti yoga devotion to followers. Second, to critically analyze the implications that have arisen after the establishment of bhakti yoga ideology. These are very interesting to study because practically bhakti yoga provides “convenience” in achieving physical and spiritual happiness. That is, taking a way that does not twist can accelerate to religion destination, namely the achievement of physical and spiritual happiness. The results showed first, the process of understanding bhakti yoga ideology was carried out by (1) through nawa widha bhakti, (2) hermitage, (3) raising cattle, (4) associating with spiritual teachers (sadhu sangga). Second, the ingrained bhakti yoga ideology has implications for religious life, namely the use of symbols of religious sect identity unlike the use of japamala and tilaka. Implications to socio-culture, there is an interaction of follower’s culture before and after they take part in bhakti yoga in religious sects. The implication for the economy of religious sects and followers is a capital exchange between followers and capital accumulation on followers and organizations.

Abstract:
Abstract This paper presents a series of observations arising from the experience of translating Jibanananda Das's Bengali poetry into English. Though the emphasis is on the practice of translation the observations in question are foregrounded against the perspective of theories of translation studies. The first part of the paper demarcates the scope of the paper in theoretical terms. Several possible approaches to translations of Jibanananda Das (in terms of process, end product, and sociological connotation) are considered with a view to focusing on practical observations. In the course of this process of theoretical delimitation some sense of the linguistic and literary context within which Jibanananda worked, and which the translator must appreciate, is conveyed. The second part is guided to a large extent by Roman Jakobson's notion that the activity of translating is influenced more by what languages must convey rather than by what they can convey. Consequently, this part identifies those features of the source and target languages which pose the greatest difficulties for the translator. It is assumed throughout that the practice of literary translation is largely a decision-making process: examples from the poetry of Jibanananda Das are cited and the range of decisions facing the translator are clarified where ever necessary. Four features of the Bengali language as compared to the English language are examined at some length: neutral pronouns of Bengali as opposed to gender-specific pronouns of English; culture-specific words; sadhu and calit used in Bengali (and analogously formal and informal modes of address); and symbolic forms (or echo-type onomatopoeic words or expressives) in Bengali and English. In the third part a translator's practice with regard to the specifically poetic features, over and above the inevitable linguistic features, of texts like Jibanananda's is considered briefly.

Abstract:
This paper presents the experimental evaluation of the aerodynamic performance of two small wind turbines models with five blades in the Aerodynamic Tunnel Professor Debi Pada Sadhu. The models were confectioned on a reduced scale using 3D prototyping, the first one was designed using the blade element method, assuming the power coefficient of Betz, named Optimal Blade Betz (OBB) and the second is modified from the first one, named Optimal Blade Betz Modified (OBBM). The velocity distribution in the cross section of the tunnel was determined with the aid of a Pitot tube before the evaluation of the equipment. With the known tunnel velocity profile, the static torque of the prototypes were determined with the use of a digital torquemeter coupled to the machine axis, which recorded the readings for the speed range of 1 m/s to 9.88 m/s. Also with the torquemeter, were evaluated the influence of the angular position of the blades in the measured torque. The blades were designed allowing vary their angular position in the hub, thus changing the angle of attack, and by consequence, the torque produced. A photo tachometer was employed to measure the rotation of the model in free spin. With the experimental data, the curves of static torque and angular velocity were determined as a function of incident speed. Through experimental determination of the incident velocity profile and the velocity profile in the aerodynamic wake of each turbine, the variation of the amount of momentum of the outflow was evaluated, and so the power extracted by the rotor in free rotation. This study aims to contribute to the design of a real small wind turbine, informing the aerodynamic characteristics of the equipment that can be constructed with this layout. The experimental results demonstrate good approximation for torque and power to the results obtained by evaluation by element of the blade method. The turbine constructed with Optimal Betz Blades presented static torque 17.8% higher than constructed with the Modified Blades and extracted 22% more power from the air outflow.

Abstract:
(Title: Sadou: Representation Of East Asia Hospitality) Sadou is a Japanese traditional etiquette of preparing and drinking tea and was originally developed from China. Sadou brought to Japan by Buddhist monk from China. Although the main purpose is to enjoy tea however the manner, performance, tea equipment, tea room, and the decoration of the tea room are also important and performed as part of the composite arts. Ichi go ichi e is a concept connected to the way of tea (sadou) is expresses the ideal of the way of tea. The phrase means ‘one time one meeting’ or ‘one encounter one opportunity’. In sadou we should respect the host and the others in the tea room and honor the moment as if it were a once in a lifetime gathering. That is we should cherish every meeting for it will never happen again. ichi go ichi e is the reminder that each tea ceremony is unique even though the elements are familiar.

Abstract:
Our research with the thermophilic secondary-alcohol dehydrogenase (SADH) from Thermoanaerobacter ethanolicus has provided novel information regarding the physical basis of enzyme substrate specificity and stereospecificity. We demonstrated that oxidation of secondary alcohols catalyzed by T. ethanolicus SADH exhibits temperature-dependent enantiospecificity. In other studies, we found that the structure of co-factor analogs also significantly affects the stereochemistry of the SADH reaction. More recently, we demonstrated that pH can also have a modest effect on SADH enantiospecificity. Organic solvents have also been shown by others to affect the stereochemistry of SADH reactions. We designed and prepared S39T and C295A mutant forms of SADH by site-directed mutagenesis, and we evaluated the effects of the mutations by analysis of the temperature dependence of the enantiomeric ratio (E) for simple chiral alcohols such as 2-butanol. This procedure allows for the determination of the differential Eyring parameters (ΔΔH‡ and ΔΔS‡) for the reaction. We demonstrated that this technique is a sensitive method for analysis of the effects of mutation on enzyme stereospecificity. S39T and C295A SADH exhibit significant changes in substrate specificity and stereospecificity consistent with the changes in the volume of the alkyl-binding pockets. Thus, it is possible to alter the substrate specificity and stereospecificity of alcohol dehydrogenase by changing either the reaction medium or the protein structure.Key words: alcohol dehydrogenase, substrate specificity, stereospecificity, temperature dependence, site-directed mutagenesis.

Abstract:
Candida orthopsilosis and Candida metapsilosis are recentlydescribed species phenotypically indistinguishable from Candida parapsilosis. We evaluated phenotyping and molecular methods for the detection ofthese species among 79 unique blood culture isolates of the C. parapsilosis group obtained during the years 2004–2008. The isolates were screenedby PCR amplification of the secondary alcohol dehydrogenase-encoding gene (SADH) followed by digestion with the restriction enzyme BanI, using C. parapsilosis ATCC 22019, C. orthopsilosisATCC 96139 and C. metapsilosis ATCC 96144 as controls. Isolates withRFLP patterns distinct from C. parapsilosis were characterized bysequence analysis of the ITS1–ITS2, 26S rRNA (D1/D2) and SADH regions. Restriction patterns for the 3 species with each of 610restriction enzymes were predicted in silico using 12 available sequences.By PCR-RFLP of the SADH gene alone, four isolates (5.1 %)had a pattern identical to the C. orthopsilosis reference strain.Sequence analysis of SADH and ITS (internal transcribed spacer)regions identified two of these isolates as C. metapsilosis. Theseresults were confirmed by creating a phylogenetic tree based on concatenatedsequences of SADH, ITS and 26S rRNA gene sequence regions. Optimaldifferentiation between C. parapsilosis, C. metapsilosisand C. orthopsilosis was predicted using digestion with NlaIII,producing discriminatory band sizes of: 131 and 505 bp; 74, 288 and 348 bp;and 131, 217 and 288 bp, respectively. This was confirmed using the referencestrains and 79 clinical isolates. In conclusion, reliable discrimination wasobtained by PCR-RFLP profile analysis of the SADH gene after digestionwith NlaIII but not with BanI. C. metapsilosisand C. orthopsilosis are involved in a small but significant numberof invasive infections in Denmark.

Abstract:
Background: Despite being illegal in Nepal, cannabis grows wild, is cultivated, readily available and often consumed during religious festivals, such as those in honour of the Hindu god Shiva. Holy men (sadhus) also consume cannabis to aid meditation, and many are believed to suggest that as a substance favoured by Lord Shiva, and, as such, should be used. However, there are concerns that all cannabis use in Nepal is not benign, and that there are negative health and social consequences from its use for some consumers. Objectives: This study sought the views of sadhus in Nepal.Method: During the major Shiva festival at Pashupathinath temple complex in Kathmandu, Nepal, 200 sadhus were surveyed. Results: Most used cannabis daily, a quarter believed cannabis and its use to be legal in Nepal, and a further ten percent were unsure, about one third believed cannabis should be used by Hindus, but only fourteen believed Lord Shiva promoted its use. Those less educated and from the Naga sect were more likely to hold such views, and provide cannabis to devotees. Conclusions: Sadhus with evidence-based information about cannabis and its potential harms can play an important role in assisting to reduce harm and facilitate engagement in treatment. Abstract:
Money politics is a political disease that is increasingly prevalent today. Money politics is a part of the bribery offense. In general, the criminal act of bribery is considered a violation in the world of politics, thus requiring money politics to also be considered a violation. In absolute terms, state laws and regulations explicitly prohibit this action, but this practice is rampant nonetheless. In Sharia law there is often discussion about risywah which is in the form of the millennial period which is reflected in the money political mechanism. However, Jurisprudence scholars in general still disagree over the law of certainty risywah. The editor of the Prophet's Hadith said that Rasulullah Saw. cursing the perpetrator and the recipient of the bribe. However, various interpretations of the scholars have resulted in an imbalance between positive legal regulations and Islamic law. By combining two legal decisions through the study of Ushūl Fikih with Saddu ad-Dzāriah's approach. This study will discuss legal decisions regarding risywah from a different perspective and prove that there is no imbalance between the two.

Abstract:
Abstract Non Western therapies have played a vital role in dealing with a variety of crisis such as physical, emotional and existential over the last few centuries (Ejaz, 2000). Since the introduction of Western medicine in India as early as the eighteenth century, the two systems of medicine have coexisted and influenced each other. Mutual recognition of the therapeutic values of the two systems was further bolstered when American medicine recognized the role of alternative therapies as viable option for healing in the early eighties. The purpose of this paper is to examine the roles two kinds of healers (western and non- western) play in the Asian Indian Hindu context. For this qualitative study, 30 physicians (trained in Western medicine) and 5 sadhus (holy men) were interviewed in the city of Allahabad, during the Kumbh Mela. Open ended questions ranged from: a) field of practice (physicians), sadhus (mystics), b) years of practice, c) number of patients/followers, d) treatment offered (physician –surgery or medications), sadhus (prayers, fasts, charitable donations), e) adverse reactions. In-depth interviews were recorded and transcribed by two researchers from Hindi to English and coded into themes. Results indicate that about a quarter of Western trained physicians not only sought assistance from the sadhus for their emotional/spiritual issues, but also referred patients with terminal disease. Besides individual consults, the mystics conduct lectures on climate change, on holistic diet, meditation, yoga practices, and healing. Social workers need to assess the value Hindu immigrant families in United States attach to Non-Western therapies.

Photography is a referent medium. While a photograph is a physical object with its own ontology, the image depicted references a moment that has already ended. The mobility of a photograph relies on the divide between presence and absence, the material and the ephemeral. This photographic essay considers the tensions and parallels of such divides in photographing and photographs of sadhus, holy men who wander throughout East Asia. Sadhus relinquish worldly possessions in the name of spiritual pursuits, surviving on whatever the divine provides. The following images illustrate both their radiant spiritual presence, and the trace of a material boundedness.

We extend the application of nearly contraction mapping principle introduced by Sahu (2005) for existence of fixed points of demicontinuous mappings to certain hemicontinuous nearly Lipschitzian nonlinear mappings in Banach spaces. We have applied certain results due to Sahu (2005) to obtain conditions for existence—and to introduce an asymptotic iterative process for construction—of fixed points of these hemicontractions with respect to a new auxiliary operator.

Abstract:
Abstract. Epidemic infectious diseases cause significant economic losses to the pork industry, and yet few control measures are currently available to reduce their airborne transmission. Therefore, the objective of this study was to determine whether spraying distilled water (DW), emulsified canola oil, didecyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, or slightly acidic diluted hypochlorite solution (SADH) could effectively reduce the concentration of mechanically aerosolized and two physicochemically distinct swine viruses, porcine sapelovirus (PSV) and porcine epidemic diarrhea virus (PEDV). Each functional water was sprayed in an enclosed room (4 m × 4 m × 4 m) at a Biosafety Level 2 experimental facility 15 min after aerosolization of a solution containing 10 log10 colony-forming units (cfu) of and 9 log10 50% tissue culture infectious dose (TCID50) of each of PSV and PEDV. Airborne and settling samples were collected before and after spraying, and the quantities of live and infectious virus were assessed. It was found that spraying treatment mitigated the bacteria concentration in the air and settling samples, with the airborne concentration decreasing by 1.5 log10 cfu m-3 following spraying with DW and immediately falling below the detection limit following spraying with SADH. Furthermore, the settling concentration fell below the detection limit 20 min after spraying with SADH. The airborne PSV concentration also decreased by 1.5 log10 TCID50 m-3 after spraying with DW and canola oil, while spraying with SADH caused both the airborne and settling PSV concentrations to immediately fall below the detection limit, where they remained 60 min later. Thus, spraying with functional water, particularly SADH, effectively reduced the airborne and settling concentrations of these bacteria and viruses.
