This chapter is about a serious game named ITS PLC, an interactive simulation tool aimed at control systems education and training that includes the latest technologies from the video and computer games industry; namely, real-time 3D graphics, physics and sound. The goal of the game is to make five virtual industrial plants work correctly by using an external and real programmable logic controller (PLC) running the proper software, which the trainee must develop. The main purpose of the chapter is to testify the excellent properties of ITS PLC as an educational tool throughout a collection of three success stories: the first one shows how virtual scenarios can be used to investigate real problems; the usage of ITS PLC in an “edutainment” scenario is the theme of the second story; the third case testifies the benefits of ITS PLC in introductory automation programs.

Abstract:
Development and progress mainly depends on education and its solid dissemination. Technologies as well as engineering solutions are important for the business and corporate houses. In this context, educational initiatives and programs play a vital role. Developing countries are suffering from many problems and therefore fostering new academic innovation and researches on economic development in today's context. Information Technologies and management science are important for solid business solutions. Therefore, education and knowledge dissemination play an important and valuable role. In many developing countries, gaps between industrial needs and the availability of skilled labor are limited. Information Sciences and Computing are the most valuable areas of study in today's knowledge world. The components, subsets, and subfields of Information Sciences and Technology are rapidly emerging worldwide. Among the emerging and popular areas, a few include Cloud Computing, Green Computing, Green Systems, Big-Data Science, Internet, Business Analytics, and Business Intelligence. Developing countries (like China, Colombia, Malaysia, Mauritius, India, Brazil, South Africa) depend in many ways on knowledge dissemination and solid manpower for their development. Thus, there is an urgent need to introduce such programs and the majority of these programs have been proposed here. Information Science and Technology (IST) with programs such as Bachelors, Masters, and Doctoral Degrees have been listed here with academic and industrial contexts. This article highlights these programs with proper SWOT analysis.

How do students of post-secondary vocational education make career choices, and how/how much do the institutional systems of VE/VT support them? This chapter traces the expectations, choices, and alternatives encountered by the students enrolled at vocational institutions in India. Referred to as industrial training institutes (ITIs), these institutions bridge the transition from school to employment. The research uses the “safety net” theory of vocational education to assess student choices and preferences to analyze the reasons why students pursue a course at the ITI. The study includes a survey of 212 students in two-year programs. In-depth interviews were conducted with teachers in the same institutes where the survey was administered to the students. In the process, the role of such vocational institutions is assessed with respect to the correspondences with the larger VE/VT system in the country, thereby offering relevant insights into changes that are underway from recent policy measures.

Abstract:
The chapter reveals new opportunities for the use of digital video surveillance in the agro-industrial sector. It presents a methodological approach and practical guidelines for modeling and managing changes in agrotechnology, in the conditions of digital transformation of large amounts of data. The proposed technical solutions are aimed at creating better products and gaining competitive advantages, thanks to the improved relationship of specialists and the transition to predictive data analysis. Video surveillance as the most accessible way to obtain information involves the creation of large amounts of data, their long-term storage, fast retrieval, and diverse analysis. The possibilities of video surveillance systems widely used to ensure the safety of industrial buildings and the protection of areas equipped with automatic video analytics modules and integrated computer programs are considered. The organization of managing geographically-distributed agricultural production using mobile and remote video surveillance systems is shown. By using the proposed project of integrating digital video surveillance into a big data system, the organization can be transformed to improve strategy, make system decisions, improve marketing and sales results, improve efficiency and productivity of business processes, improve the performance of production personnel, minimize unprofitable risks, and maximize management efficiency, which will lead to the emergence of new opportunities.
