It is a very great honour and privilege to be addressing you today. It has been a particularly interesting year politically at least as far as mathematics is concerned. Despite what seems in many ways a prosperous and optimistic situation in this country at the moment, mathematics is in a very serious state. Our subject is the key to living successfully in the modern technological world, but we have a grave shortage of mathematicians. In addition there are endless complaints from employers and the general public that young people leave school without the necessary mathematical skills to cope with everyday life.

Abstract:
Purpose: determination of relationship between the level of students’ global self-esteem and their perception of the degree of difficulty sailing yacht classes. Material and methods: Study consisted of 178 students of University School of Physical Education in Wrocław. The study used two tools: Polish adaptation of SES M. Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale and a questionnaire designed by the authors of the study. Results: men were characterized by a higher self-esteem than women. Distribution of the results obtained by women was closer to a normal distribution, but it was not completely compatible with it. The relationship was noted between the level of global self-esteem of the students and their perception of the degree of difficulty of the course. People with higher self-esteem assessed the knowledge and skills of sailing as easier. For people with lower levels of self-esteem sailing it was a more difficult. Conclusions: self-acceptance and self-esteem have a substantial impact on goal setting and the perception and taking various tasks. It is therefore important to help young people to build adequate self-esteem and positive self-image, because faith in its own strength and capabilities is a key element in achieving success in every area of life.

Abstract:
Aim: This study examines and compares the core endurance levels, balance performance, muscle strength, and flexibility among young elite saiflors in different sailing classes. Method: Athletes were randomly selected from the Galatasaray Sailing Club and divided into three groups: windsurfing (n=14), optimist (n=13), and laser class (n=13). Demographic features, body mass index, and dominant side of the body were recorded. Upper extremity strength was assessed using a hand dynamometer, while lower extremity power was evaluated through vertical jump, standing long jump, and single-leg jump tests. Core endurance was evaluated with sit-up, plank, and rotary stability tests. Balance and flexibility were assessed using Y balance, straight leg raise, shoulder flexibility, sit and reach, shoulder elevation, and total body rotation tests. The data from the three groups were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis H test, and inter-group comparisons were performed with the Mann-Whitney U test. Results: Significant differences were observed among the groups in the hand grip test for both right and left hands (p<0.001). The laser group displayed the highest mean value. The standing long jump test also showed a significant difference between the groups (p<0.05), with the laser group exhibiting the highest mean value. The single-leg jump test revealed a significant difference among the groups (p<0.05), with the windsurfing group having the highest average. The Y balance test indicated a significant difference among the groups (p<0.05), with the optimist group displaying the highest average values. Conclusion: These findings demonstrate that each sailing class necessitates distinct physical attributes and specific performance parameters, particularly in terms of strength and balance.

Abstract:
While for some young people family life is smooth sailing, for many others it is fraught with turbulence. In this study of secondary students in metropolitan Melbourne the major concerns of children in intact and separated families were compared. The study also compared how young people cope according to their family circumstances. The 238 young people who live in intact households reported fights with parents and happiness as their major concerns. The major concern of the 114 young people in separated households was lack of access to the non-residential parent. The investigation utilised the Adolescent Coping Scale (Frydenberg & Lewis, 1993a), an 80-item instrument developed and validated over a five-year period as an instrument to measure adolescent coping. The results of the study indicated that there was a significant variation in coping according to gender and a significant relationship between coping and family status. There were significant gender differences regardless of whether the families were intact or separated.

Abstract:
Smoking is considered one of the most widespread pandemic today. Tobacco smoke is one of the most toxic poisons which people knowingly enter into themselves disturbing at the same time their health and the health of people around them. Smoking among young people is more present in areas that have a negative attitude to this phenomenon, as well as in areas that are insufficiently informed about the harmful consequences of this habit.According to WHO, smokers on average, lose 20–25 years of their life expectancy due to premature death, and 50% of smokers who smoke continuously since adolescents are likely to die from diseases caused by smoking. The survey was conducted on a sample of 370 students of secondary mechanical and electrical school in Prijedor, Bosnia, in the period of 2006. and 2007. Its goals were to determine the prevalence of this practice, reasons for start smoking and the occurrence of these habits in families of patients. It was confirmed that a group of young average age of 16.03 years, smoking is present largely in the form of permanent or intermittent, which suggests that awareness of youth about the effects of smoking on health is insufficient.

Abstract:
During each Olympic cycle of a sailor, there are changes in the commitment and performance of young people. The objective of this study was to verify which variables influenced the (dis)performance of a young sailor from a Social Project in the Olympic cycle. The methodology was a longitudinal, qualitative-quantitative (or integrated mixed) case study, carried out with analyses from 2021-2024, with a sailing athlete, a teenager from the Grael Project in Niterói, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The Grael Project athlete who participated in Optimist class competitions and who could be accompanied by an Olympic cycle was considered eligible. The results showed that there are at least 18 characteristics that can influence the (dis)performance of a sailor; during the years of investigation, the sailor showed commitment by being assiduously punctual, making an effort, and being dedicated during training and competitions. The sailor's performance was considered excellent in the monitored cycle and exceeded the goals set, as he managed to become Brazilian champion in the rookie Optimist class in 2023, qualify to represent Brazil in the South American and North American championships in 2024 and closed the 1st cycle with 24 podiums in the Optimist class and 33 in the Dingue class. It was also noted that sailing is perceived by the athlete as an opportunity to get to know other cities and countries that foster the culture of sports sailing. It was found that the sailing athlete investigated may give up or abandon high-performance sport due to: 1) lack of motivation, 2) lack of encouragement, 3) changing schools, 4) entering university, 5) external pressure for immediate results, 6) having already experienced “early” high-level competitions, 7) lack of social support from parents or 8) lack of financial resources. The number of days and hours per year that the athlete surveyed spent sailing were respectively 25% of the days and 364 hours in 2022, 58% of the days and 796 hours in 2023 and 54% of the days and 788 hours in 2024. It can be concluded that several variables are capable of influencing the athlete's (dis)performance and require specific attention from sailors. A plural look at the factors that may be influencing the sailor's performance and commitment can help to understand their current moment so that rapid intervention can be made and so that the pleasure of sailing continues to be the driving force behind good winds.

Abstract:
Recently, the UK government expressed concern about the rising tide of antisocial behaviour among young people who, in certain areas of the country, were habitually engaging in acts of minor delinquency – often fuelled by drink. On the other hand, legislation was introduced to make it legal for premises that sell alcohol to remain open longer, up to 24 hours a day. This latter arrangement has courted considerable controversy. For example, the British Medical Association commented that any extension to licensing hours requires a programme of research, after its introduction, to look at its health consequences - both acute and chronic.

Abstract:
The article analyzes the conditions that contribute to the formation of a healthy lifestyle in universities, as well as the level of stress faced by students in everyday life. The author conducted a survey of students of technical, medical and pedagogical universities in 2022. As part of the research, a testing was conducted on students using the “Inventory of Stress Symptoms” questionnaire by T. Ivanchenko, and the “Determination of Nervous-Mental Stress” questionnaire by T. Nemchin. It was found that one-third of the students (from a medical university) constantly experience psychological and emotional stress, in contrast to students from a technical university, where a gender imbalance is observed. Girls from a technical university are more anxious than young men. At the pedagogical university, young students are more susceptible to anxiety than female students. It was revealed that young men, more than girls, experience constant stress due to material difficulties. Students who are not involved in physical activity and do not systematically play sports tend to have low self-esteem, are not satisfied with themselves or the results of their studies, have high rates of loneliness. It has also been established that girls are less likely than boys to engage in sports. Students who do not lead a healthy lifestyle are more prone to distress and suffer from various psychosomatic illnesses. Most students (not from medical universities) have not developed the habit of taking responsible care of their health. Physically active students seek less direct healthcare services throughout the year. A developed sports infrastructure at universities allows students to relieve stress, expand social networks, and not feel lonely. In universities where walking and cycling among students are encouraged and provided for, there are fewer students with harmful habits. Girls engage in sports to improve their external attractiveness, socializing, and expanding socially significant connections. Events aimed at involving student youth in sports and a healthy lifestyle are proposed. In particular, the use of experience from RUDN university, where coworking spaces (comfort zones) have been created, providing students with the opportunity to relax, gain useful information, socialize with friends, and cope with tension or stress.

Abstract:
The costs of drug use to society and individuals include risk of chronic illnesses, such as HIV, hepatitis C and hepatitis B, and risk of accidental injury. Among accidents involving fatalities, drugs have been found in 15 to 20% of riders and drivers. Generally, the effectiveness of drug prevention programmers has tended to be assessed in relation to so-called ‘gateway’ drugs, such as alcohol, tobacco and marijuana, rather than specifically illicit drug use. The impact of drug prevention programmers on illicit drug use has not been adequately reviewed. Drug prevention in schools is a top priority and several well-designed studies have shown that prevention programs have the potential of reducing drug use in adolescents.

Abstract:
The article discusses the problems of preventing extremism among students of general education organizations. The factors contributing to extremist manifestations among young people and measures to prevent extremism are highlighted. The research is based on an analysis of Russian legislation, the researches of domestic authors, and information obtained from open sources, including the Internet. The following methods were used in the course of the research: scientific cognition, comparison, analysis, synthesis, induction, deduction, generalization and the system-structural method. The scientific novelty of the research on the prevention of extremism among young people is manifested in an integrated approach that includes both legal, social and psychological aspects. In the context of globalization and rapid technological progress, young people are often influenced by radical ideologies, which creates the need to develop effective preventive measures. The scientific novelty lies in the integration of an interdisciplinary approach and an emphasis on the active participation of young people in the process of preventing extremism, which opens up new horizons for scientific research in this field. The theoretical significance of the article lies in the systematization of existing scientific approaches to the problem of extremism and in the development of a model of preventive measures that can be used in further scientific research on this issue. The practical significance is manifested in the possibility of applying the proposed recommendations at the level of educational institutions and youth policy bodies, which contributes to the formation of a stable negative attitude towards extremism and constructive dialogue among young people.

Abstract:
Fear is a natural emotion that individuals experience throughout their lives. Growing up, fear manifests itself in the emotions, behaviour and actions of young people, often associated with stressors such as fear of failure, social problems or too high expectations. Among the most important fears at a young age is the fear of death (thanatophobia), which can intensify anxiety and stress, especially when combined with social media pressures. In addition, the fear of aging (gerontophobia) stems from existential concerns about mortality and the social stigmatization of aging. Addressing these fears through psychological interventions, confidence building, and cultural coping mechanisms is key to reducing anxiety and building resilience. For the purposes of the research, a quantitative methodology with an online survey was used. Primary and secondary sources were collected, analysed and synthesized. Primary data were obtained through a survey aimed at Slovenian secondary school students. Secondary sources were obtained from professional literature and websites. The survey sample included 1,234 respondents aged between 15 and 29, including high school and university students. The data collection was carried out using the method of improbable (occasional) sampling. To ensure representativeness, data were weighted by gender. Statistical analysis, including descriptive and multivariate analysis, was performed with the SPSS 21 program, where the internal consistency of the scales was measured with the Cronbach alpha coefficient. With the research, the authors wanted to check whether there is a fear of aging among young people. It turned out that the average fear of loss is 51.2%, while the fear of physical appearance and psychological worries is present in 20.5% and the fear of the elderly in 6.7%. Statistically significant differences were found in terms of gender, status, place of residence and frequency and quality of contacts with the elderly, indicating the complexity of factors that influence the fear of aging.

Abstract:
In the context of globalization and informatization, there is a replacement of real communication with virtual, a loss of the value of live communication, respectively, there is social alienation and loneliness. The speed of exchange of messages and information is so high that people do not have time to develop their personal point of view, to individualize. In this regard, the questions are becoming more and more relevant: what is loneliness and whether it is possible to consider loneliness only as a negative phenomenon, or, loneliness is, on the contrary, a resource, i.e., an opportunity for personal development. The article discusses the issues of understanding the phenomenon of loneliness, its transformation in the modern world and predicting the impact on the world of the future, as well as whether there is a connection between loneliness and Internet addiction. The article analyzes the socio-philosophical aspect of youth loneliness and the totality of their social and personal determinations.

Abstract:
At the center of psychology of sexuality research problematics of the first decades of the twenty first century was the influence of information technologies and virtualization of culture on the weakening of restraint in sexual behavior. Promiscuous sexual behavior is associated with the demise of traditional family structures and marriage institutions, resuling in increasing health risk on the national scale. The risk group that calls for special attention is young people who are most actively using new technologies and at the same time experiencing a lack of skills in the area of emotional and behavior regulation. Researches in this area try to identify factors behind youth promiscuity: a link between such behavior and increased environmental stresses and unsafe parenting styles have been established. Studies in recent years have, for the first time, revealed a link between the unrestricted use of communication technologies and the choice of promiscuous sexual behavior among young people. It was also established that such sexual behavior was linked to distress, increased risks of sexual harassment and harm to physical health in this age group. The data obtained in these recent studies indicate the presence of a complex problem associated with the psychosexual development of young people, set the task of possible ways to regulate as well as foster self- regulation of sexual behavior adolescence.

Abstract:
Introduction: In Mali, shisha has become the most common form of tobacco consumption, which is not without danger for the consumer health. The aim of this study was to assess the consumption level of shisha among young people in the District of Bamako. Methods: This was a prospective study from March 2019 to March 2020. A total of 200 young shisha smokers aged 40 or under were included in this study. Results: The male sex was predominant, with 75% of cases. The majority, or 81.5%, were under the age of 25. According to study data, 26% of respondents said they smoke shisha at least once a day. Over a quarter of cases reported concurrent use of two or more addictive substances. The most common association was with alcohol (13%), cannabis (9%) and cocaine (4.5%). According to the results, 69% of respondents thought that shisha is less harmful than cigarettes. Conclusion: Consumption of shisha has grown considerably in Mali in recent years. This study has highlighted a new form of multiple drug addiction, which could be harmful to the health of consumers. Thus, the authorities concerned must take appropriate measures to combat this scourge.

Abstract:
Labour market performance in Pakistan has improved markedly in recent years. This paper examines the extent to which young people have benefited from this improvement, using the labour market vulnerability framework that was recently introduced by the ILO. This framework can be used to assess the difficulties young people face on the road to decent employment, and may also serve as a basis for the development of appropriate policies and interventions. Drawing on empirical evidence from various surveys, in particular the Labour Force Survey, we conclude that vulnerability among the youth has generally been reduced since 1999-2000. Vulnerability of women has been reduced through higher enrolment rates in education, and unemployment among both men and women has declined. Far less progress has been made in reducing vulnerability among the employed, and youth still face numerous obstacles that hamper the attainment of decent employment. The paper offers recommendations on the role of labour market information in reducing youth vulnerability.

Abstract:
The present paper examines the reliability and validity of the French-language version of the Multicultural Personality Questionnaire (MPQ) among young participants (N = 7,180) in French-speaking Switzerland. Consistent with previous research ( Van der Zee & Van Oudenhoven, 2000 , 2001 ; Van der Zee, Zaal, & Piekstra, 2003 ), exploratory analysis in one subsample confirmed the presence of the five factors underpinning the MPQ: Open-Mindedness, Cultural Empathy, Emotional Stability, Social Initiative, and Flexibility. Confirmatory factor analyses in a second subsample and in the total sample further confirmed the same five-factor structure. This model was modified to include correlated residuals between items with high semantic proximity. This final model obtained a satisfactory fit to the overall data. We conclude that the French version of the 37-item MPQ scale can be used to examine the attitudes associated with multicultural effectiveness in French-speaking populations.

Abstract:
National feeling – love for the nation, compassion, the ability to appreciate the heritage of the people, recognizing their national representation. Everyone should know and respect other nations through pride in their homeland, deep love for their nation. The main means of forming natio:nal consciousness is the native language, one of the foundations of forming consciousness, which has great support in establishing the continuity of Virtue and patriotic values. Today, the education of the younger generation as a creative person with a deep understanding of the history, surname, traditions, language of their people, human culture, human qualities is a requirement of life, a necessity of society. The law of the Republic of Kazakhstan on Education defines the main positions of the state policy of comprehensive education and upbringing of the younger generation. These are: the equal right of all humanity of the Republic of Kazakhstan to education, the intellectual development of each humanity, psycho-physiological and personal characteristics, the opening of a wide path to all levels of education for the population. That is, in the law of Education, based on the right of every citizen to education, there is a need to comprehensively cover the process of training, education, development, formation of didactic conditions in the formation and education of respect for the national values of young people. For the formation of national values in young people, we should focus on the issues of national culture, traditions, folk teachings, etc. Kazakh culture is a national culture formed over the centuries. It was developed and formed on the basis of National Education. National Education is the driving force behind the development of the culture of that nation. Each people has a historical existence and spiritual experience. The educational and worldview views of the people, formed through their spiritual practices in life, we call folk pedagogy. Folk pedagogy is the cultural heritage of the people. Folk pedagogy developed and formed in connection with the (national) ethnic characteristics of that people.
