The article deals with the fate of the relics of Saint Władysław donated in 1585 by the Polish queen Anna Jagiellonka to the Jesuit college in Pułtusk. They were handed over from the royal treasury as evidence of gratitude for the education of Andrzej Batory - nephew of King Stephen I. Later the members of the Waza dynasty: princess Anna Katarzyna (1634) and king Władysław IV Waza (1635), fond homage to these relics. At that time he also gave them a silver reliquary as a gift. German Catholics engaged in promoting her beatification cause organized a multipronged, multimedia campaign. Priests and laypersons, as well as the popular press and theological journals, all encouraged the veneration of Emmerick as “a crucified saint for a crucifiedVolk.” Memories of Napoleonic French aggression, secularization, and waning religious belief provided revanchist Weimar German Catholics with a readymade narrative of victimization. Abstract:
This chapter discusses the life of a little-known saint, Hadid, who resided in the Nile Delta in the thirteenth century, and some aspects of the Christian demography of the northwestern part of Lower Egypt during his life. Anba Hadid was born in Sinjar on Lake Burullus and spent most of his life as a priest in the village of Nutubis al-Rumman, located north of Fuwwa on the Rashidi branch of the Nile. He died in 1286. The seemingly unremarkable character of Hadid's life and miracles suggests that there were other local saints like him during the Islamic period whose stories are not recorded.

This chapter discusses St. Anba Ruways and the history related to the foundation of the St. Mark Cathedral in Cairo over the site of his monastery. The shrine of the saint lies under the church altar, and to the right of the shrine, on the south, four patriarchs are buried: Pope Mattaeus I (eighty-seventh), who was a contemporary of the saint; Pope Yuhanna XI (eighty-ninth); Pope Mattaeus II (ninetieth); and Pope Ghobrial VI (ninety-first). Downstairs lie the relics of the disciple of Anba Ruways named Sulayman, and the relics of St. Abali ibn Yostos (1 Misra) in a closed chamber. Many of the Coptic elites who served under Muhammad Ali and his sons were buried in this monastery.
